Description

U.P.R. - Western Ring Path

The Western Ring Path is the continuation of the Western Freeway Path along the Western Ring Road and provide more opportunity for some walking or cycling along a nicely made asphalt path way.
At this location you will find the U.P.R. which is a dead giveaway that there is a geocache located here. When we first spotted the location from the car we suspected there would be a geocache under this U.P.R., but no, nothing. It looks like this U.P.R. has been made by the folks who mow the grass tossing the rocks into a pile away from the cutting blades. There is a 400mil Sistema container at this location as well as a lot of ants, so don't be at all surprised should you disturb them and they start up your arms. They are harmless and should be easily brushed off.

Back on the trail again today, searching for caches on the Western Freeway Path and Western Ring Path.

Our last day of caching the trails, with a target of 35 caches. We managed a total of 21 finds and 14 DNF'S.

Cache and contents are in good contition.

Many thanks caughtatwork for all the caches you have placed, we appreciate the time and effort gone into placing them.

Decided to get on the bike and clear a few more caches out close to home.

This was the first.

The people fishing close by were none the wiser as I signed the log.

First grab tonight by helmet light. The U.P.R. was prominent to a cacher.

------

Well.

This wasn't the day I'd planned, but family matters had turned the weekend on its head. Between sleeping in after the fun of caching in the dark until so late it was almost early, and staying at home to referee while the better half ran some errands, it wasn't until mid afternoon that I rolled out the gate.

Finally logging my first cache for the day after crossing the Whitten Bridge, I continued anticlockwise around the Ring Road, bagging 42 finds, and a handful of DNFs.

Thanks, C@W... today's haul has gone a long way toward my ambition of getting my GA logs over 10% of the GC total.

#GA1875 - 11:13; Day two of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. Our major goal for the week is to complete the SSS and other series along the Western Freeway/Ring Road and to then collect enough GCA caches around Docklands to bring our total finds for the day to 100+ which would build our trophy cabinets a bit more as we complete a few more 'missions'. This was one of 82 finds in just under 6 hours along the various series, where we only had the one DNF! We finished the freeway section and had now turned north to take on the 'ring path'. Apologies for the mostly generic logs. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

Back at the next section of series and again it was just a matter of following the GPSr, dropping the bike and grabbing the cache. In most cases it was that simple and we just plodded along cache after cache. I think we were starting to slow as the wind picked up...nothing kills a ride like riding into the wind.

All was good though and unless stated, all caches were found in good condition.

Thanks for this one C@W.....

I enjoyed my walk along the Western Ring Rd path, south of the Western Freeway, a few weeks ago with my niece, so today I planned to cycle the northern section. I have not cycled very often in the recent past but I knew that the path was mostly flat so I should not get into too much difficulty. I ended up finding 25 caches in 4 hours, with a short stop to discuss geocaching with two police officers and another stop to chat with a VicRoads worker.
Thank you caughtatwork for this series. Clapping

I obviously must have looked suspicious as I was searching the U.P.R. As I walked back to my bicycle, which was parked against the fence, I was approached by two friendly police officers who enquired about what I was doing. "Geocaching" was my answer and the older officer replied "I thought that was what you were doing". I then explained to the younger officer what geocaching is and he was eager to see the cache. The container was opened to reveal the laminated cache note and log book with the CO's details. (10/10 for a good cache Very Happy ). They wished me good luck in my continued search and returned to their car. I survived my first police enquiry. Very Happy

We had arrived in Melbourne early to catch the Spirit of Tasmania back to Tassie tonight. That gave us the opportunity to look for more caches along the Western Ring Path, ones that we didn't find in April because we ran out of time. We were pleased that the rain of yesterday had gone and, apart from a cold breeze, the walking conditions were very pleasant. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks caughtatwork for the cache and the series.

What else do you do while waiting to board the ferry home? Park at a service centre and walk 10 kms getting 21 GCA caches, 13 of which were FTF. We had a lovely walk either side of the Big M. Thanks caughtatwork for placing,(now we get triple dragon zone points), for the great cache containers, good clues and spot on coords. FTF @ 2.20 pm. Clan Minotaur TFTC
