Description

Plantings along the river [Edgewater Walk]

Edgewater was developed on the old Colonial Ammunition Factory site in Maribyrnong in 2001. A pleasant set of ponds has been created which allow boating and wildlife to abound (including snakes, so beware). This series of geocaches will take you on a walk around the ponds checking out the area and finding a few geocaches along the way.
There are a number of plantings around the Edgewater area and while some are looking worse for wear it looks like this area has been under maintenance with some new woodchips and mulch being spread around. This offers a good opportunity to find a 400ml Sistema container hidden in a usual style. Don't stress about walking through the plantings, there are no plantings underfoot, everything is well above ground and easily avoided, even by the most clumsy footed. Watch out for muggles as they can approach from all sides and you may be spotted if you're not careful.

Enjoyed a walk alongside the river. Picking up Parkville Puzzles, Challenges and any others that we pass on the way through. Couldn't help but stop for a few GCA treasures as well.

I traveled back home to SA from Perth for family reasons and decided that Melbourne is only a short hop from Adelaide, so I logged an attendance at the Parkville Mega event and headed over for 5 days in Melbourne. I hired an E bike and had it for 4 days so was able to get around to many places and grab lots of caches as well as biking from the Youth Hostel in North Melbourne to Parkeville which was only a short ride. I attended the event on Saturday and caught up with some west ozzies and we headed out and grabbed all the lab caches and when i had some spare time headed out to grab some GCA caches close by. I would like to find more of your caches but that will be another time. This was a very quick and easy find. Thanks for bringing me here and the cache Caughtatwork. ClappingClan Minotaur

I made a little harder work of this than needed.

I continued to bark up the wrong tree for awhile.

Soon enough I did manage to grab a smiley.

We headed down to the big smoke to tackle some of the Parkville hides we had worked so hard to solve and help out with a maintenance run - not that many of them needed anything.
We jumped on the bikes and headed off on the trails - they sure made it easy to get around. We enjoyed collecting both types of caches along this stretch

Thanks for contributing to a terrific weekend Caughtatwork

Lots of muggles around but everyone was thinking we were hunting for Easter Eggs! Interesting collection of loot.

Yep, that pile of sticks was very unnatural. A quick find here, cheers!

We are currently touring Victoria with our geovan in tow, using geocaching as a guide. We have visited many amazing locations through geocaching and your cache - Plantings along the river [Edgewater Walk] - was one we found along the way. Enjoyed this series of caches - the redevelopment of this area is beautiful. We were lucky enough to talk to a council worker who opened up Jack’s Magazine and gave us a peek inside and a history lesson of the site. Added bonus to finding the cache.

Many thanks Caughtatwork for publishing this cache for our enjoyment and adding to our geocaching experience. As always accurate co - ordinates led to a quick find. Cache and contents in excellent condition.

Tassie Trekkers are now a locationless geocache we have published a 'Geocacher cache' - Travelling Trekkers GA10932 - so if you spot us in your area sign our log book and receive a code word to earn yourself a Very Happy We were one of the lucky teams to receive a pathtag from Geocaching Australia for publishing a "Geocacher Cache" - thanks Geocaching Australia.

KK had spotted this area on the outward bound journey and suggested that the cache would most likely be there. I agreed but as it turned out, we were both wrong and it was a little shorter than the structure we'd spotted when I found the stash at 12:35. Very Happy

#GA2043 - 13:07; In Melbourne with the geohoney for a few days to visit the geoteen, who had lectures today, so we headed off to Maribyrnong as it had two things going for it, retail therapy and caching! This was the next stop in this series on a very pleasant walk around the walking track and the Edgewater Walk. I didn't have to detour far off the path to grab this one, although I did have to wait for a muggle to put some distance between us before I did.. Log signed, cache replaced and I was off along the path again! TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

Bored out of my gourd at home, I decided a decent walk was in order. Thankfully, the weather agreed, so I figured this new series of hides was a good incentive.

And so it was, a neat variety of hides, with not too many worries about muggles, and a fine late afternoon caching experience.

Thanks, C@W, for keeping me at least moderately fit and sane.

When we retired , over ten years ago we had thought that we had said goodbye forever to writing treatises as part of earning our living. Little did we know what dragon Zone had in store for us - who can ignore a challenge even though it involves writing copious words. Fortunately neither of us appears to have lost the knack.

We do hope however that occasionally some innocent geocacher will read one of our missives and may even find something useful. We know that our work related treatises were never read, some questions may have been asked if they had been read. Our masters dutifully ticked off that the required documents had been handed in, accountability met so book closed.

Our latest treatises may be occasionally read and enjoyed by fellow caching tragics - or may be we are just kidding ourselves. We did however have fun reaching this goal. Of course, having reached this goal we feel duty bound to maintain our word average.

With our latest trip to the big island coming rapidly to an end we had a few loose ends to tie off - the ten caches making up the Edgewater Walk Series was one of these - apologies caught@work we really dont expect you to read them all.

We set off early this morning to find these. It was blowing a gale and walking into the wind was hard work. We could see that this would be a lovely area to walk on balmy evenings and cool summer mornings. Even with the unpleasant conditions there were plenty of dog walking muggles, running and riding muggles and a few power walking muggles using the tracks.

Accurate coordinates and excellent hints lead to quick finds of all the caches. These were well hidden but in your face as usual. All containers and contents were in excellent condition. We do love caught@work caches - rarely a micro or nano in sight.

Thanks caught@work for this cache and for this great little series. Then unnatural pile of sticks was so unnatural that we almost missed this one. Very few muggles encountered here today.

Not problems here and the cache was soon in hand. Interestingly a muggle family had found the cache after the ftf and left a comment about finding the container while searching for something magical. Wonder if they meant Harry Potter type magical or the mushroom type. Have no idea obviously, but great to see they left cache in place and didn't remove it. ClappingClapping

Soon had the log signed myself, the cache was replaced and we were on our again

Thanks again....

I investigated the lake side path while waiting for a couple of slow moving muggles to pass and came back for the cache. A couple of nice sculptures hidden away behind the plantings.
This is one of my favorite type of hides so found quickly.
Thanks caughtatwork for the cache.
