Description

Stairway to ... well, it's not heaven [Edgewater Walk]

Edgewater was developed on the old Colonial Ammunition Factory site in Maribyrnong in 2001. A pleasant set of ponds has been created which allow boating and wildlife to abound (including snakes, so beware). This series of geocaches will take you on a walk around the ponds checking out the area and finding a few geocaches along the way.
This stairway leads from the lower area up to the rear of the houses (that I'm certain the owners paid too much for their view of the Maribyrnong River). The area probably looked nice when it was planted but over the years the grasses have infiltrated the garden beds and it looks like the gardeners can't be bothered to do the right weeding. A bit of a mow and whipper snipper and they're done. As such this is not quite a stairway to heaven. You are seeking a 200ml Sistema container hidden along the edge of the steps. Which one? Well, the hint will tell you if your GPS is playing up.

As I approached GZ I thought this mabe a little tricky.

But then I noticed an opening to GZ.

Pretty flashy squillion dollar mansions here.

Me I just signed the log.

Unusual location well hidden. Cool

Those stairs will be completely overgrown soon - I doubt they are used very often. A quick find, then the lap of the lake continued. Cheers!

We are currently touring Victoria with our geovan in tow, using geocaching as a guide. We have visited many amazing locations through geocaching and your cache - Stairway to ... well, it’s not heaven [Edgewater Walk] - was one we found along the way. Enjoyed this series of caches - the redevelopment of this area is beautiful. We were lucky enough to talk to a council worker who opened up Jack’s Magazine and gave us a peek inside and a history lesson of the site. Added bonus to finding the cache.

Many thanks Caughtatwork for publishing this cache for our enjoyment and adding to our geocaching experience. As always accurate co - ordinates led to a quick find. Cache and contents in excellent condition.

Tassie Trekkers are now a locationless geocache we have published a 'Geocacher cache' - Travelling Trekkers GA10932 - so if you spot us in your area sign our log book and receive a code word to earn yourself a Very Happy We were one of the lucky teams to receive a pathtag from Geocaching Australia for publishing a "Geocacher Cache" - thanks Geocaching Australia.

Another nice quick find of this one at 10:45 meant that the main group didn't get too far in front of me. That would change soon enough. Wink

#GA2038 - 12:25;In Melbourne with the geohoney for a few days to visit the geoteen, who had lectures today, so we headed off to Maribyrnong as it had two things going for it, retail therapy and caching! This was the next stop in this series on a very pleasant walk around the walking track and the Edgewater Walk. I'd reached the waters edge again and spotted the likely location for GZ. Started the hunt, but wasn't having much luck. Checked the hint and discovered the initial search had me one step nfrom greatness Doh. Log signed, cache replaced and I was off along the path again! Bored out of my gourd at home, I decided a decent walk was in order. Thankfully, the weather agreed, so I figured this new series of hides was a good incentive.

And so it was, a neat variety of hides, with not too many worries about muggles, and a fine late afternoon caching experience.

Thanks, C@W, for keeping me at least moderately fit and sane.

When we retired , over ten years ago we had thought that we had said goodbye forever to writing treatises as part of earning our living. Little did we know what dragon Zone had in store for us - who can ignore a challenge even though it involves writing copious words. Fortunately neither of us appears to have lost the knack.

We do hope however that occasionally some innocent geocacher will read one of our missives and may even find something useful. We know that our work related treatises were never read, some questions may have been asked if they had been read. Our masters dutifully ticked off that the required documents had been handed in, accountability met so book closed.

Our latest treatises may be occasionally read and enjoyed by fellow caching tragics - or may be we are just kidding ourselves. We did however have fun reaching this goal. Of course, having reached this goal we feel duty bound to maintain our word average.

With our latest trip to the big island coming rapidly to an end we had a few loose ends to tie off - the ten caches making up the Edgewater Walk Series was one of these - apologies caught@work we really dont expect you to read them all.

We set off early this morning to find these. It was blowing a gale and walking into the wind was hard work. We could see that this would be a lovely area to walk on balmy evenings and cool summer mornings. Even with the unpleasant conditions there were plenty of dog walking muggles, running and riding muggles and a few power walking muggles using the tracks.

Accurate coordinates and excellent hints lead to quick finds of all the caches. These were well hidden but in your face as usual. All containers and contents were in excellent condition. We do love caught@work caches - rarely a micro or nano in sight.

Thanks caught@work for this cache and for this great little series. Even though the stairway did not take us to Heaven it did lead us to a well hidden cache. We did resist the urge to do a little weeding but oyr fingers were itching.

After a fun and enjoyable walk around the area, we arrived at this one and started the search. Couldn't see the general GZ area at first but after a closer look we coukd see where we should be. Checked the hint to see if it would assist and was pleased to see the good details. Sat down where the GPS said I should be, which agreed with the hint and soon had the cache in hand. Log was signed, cache replaced and then it was time to head back to the car park....and time for lunch.

Thanks C@W, an enjoyable area to visit and spend a bit of time grabbing a few caches. Hope others will come out and check it out. Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

On approach, I thought the coords were off here as I couldn't see the stairs from that direction. Another specific hint meant another quick find which was lucky with a few muggles walking by. I signed walking and came back to replace the cache when the coast was clear.
Thanks caughtatwork for the cache.
