Description

The third cache with the third number to allow you to find http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga10000.

Parking is at S33° 45.128' E150° 38.603'.

Just follow the sealed track (It was used as a main road until the M4 opened) all the caches are a short and I do mean short distance off the main track.

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9996 will give you "D"

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9997 will give you "C"

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9998 will give you "B"

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9999 will give you "A"

While there do take time to check out the Knapsack Viaduct this started life as part of the Lapstone Zig Zag western train line and was then used as a main road after the Glenbrook deviation.

Please replace all camo rocks carefully as this place gets busy. All the caches are mostly out of sight from the main track but take care.

I had two of these leftover, so went on a walk with geodad to find them. Alas, we could not find either...and dad's memory was not clear enough to be sure where he found them years ago.

Now this one had some very nice artistry nearby. One of the easier caches if you find the hidden path to the lower track. I did however have to remove 7 months of debris, spiders webs and dirt from the box. Inside was clean as a whistle. Loved this spot here.

I had a lovely spontaneous drive down to visit 2 of my daughters on the coast and surprise one of them for a birthday breakfast. In all honesty, it was really an excuse to get outdoors and play because I was getting pretty low and only had 2 midweek days off work. So I knew I was geocaching after breakfast but not where. Thought Mossvale or Goulburn, but in the end the temptation was too great. I'm taking the long way home and finding those cool bridge caches!

As the caches took me a little off the main track, I ended up wandering a bit and exploring the things in the area - old metal junk, graffiti, plants, rocks, creek beds, roadsides, AND EVEN TOILETS (GA9999 appears to also be the local bush toilet location). This meant that from the carpark to GA 10K and back I took much longer than I should... was it really nearly 5 hours?! It was lunch time when I went in thinking I'll eat after, and it was sunset when I came out. hahahaha. And my kids thought I had to hurry back home. No I was just hurrying off to geocache before going home. I got home before midnight at least. hahaha.

Thanks for this geocache series here rogerw3. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. I did film the adventure, but I haven't been in a film editing mood lately so hopefully I'll get it done soon. Smile

Now I feel justified to get the matching geocoin. Smile

10K – 2 wow it was very busy here this morning, – well this gave me grief – with dense tree cover it made finding this cache a challenge – I felt like I was traveling around in circles – don’t why but today it was very hard to get a fix on your caches – 2 down 2 to go - TFTC / TFTH / SL Clan Griffin

After I found a way down here that did not involve straight down the hill (an injury that makes this difficult) it was a quick find, and I discovered another nice path. TFTC rogerw3.

Found It!
This one was just a matter of getting myself at the right elevation and then I quickly spotted it! Interesting spot.

GPS wasn’t good for me here, took me forever to get a signal. After about 20 minutes, it finally locked on and the cache was found. TFTC.

#GA2465 - 11:40; Day one of a caching mission in the Blue Mountains with Sol de lune. After an early start in Canberra, we collected a few of the newer caches along the highway before we reached the foot of the mountains and started the major part of the mission, to collect GCA caches to help us meet some dragonZone trophy requirements. We had a handful already when we reached the convenient parking area for this cache at the start of the 10K series trail. After collecting the cache near the carpark, we set off along the trail, which was on our 'must do' list for this visit. Third stop along the trail and another quick find once there. Log signed, clue noted and we were off in search of the penultimate cache in the series. TFTC rogerw3 Very HappyClan Cerberus

Up with LuckyL10n for a 2 day run around the Blue Mountains and this little series was our main objective today. Parked the car at the obvious spot and then started the walk along the trial.

In a better position to grab this one without too many problems and once at GZ this one was a quick find. With names in the log book and the clue noted, we replaced the cache and headed off the lucky last of the prelim caches.

Thanks again RogerW3.....great area to explore. Very HappyClappingDancingClan Cerberus

Continued along the track which we assume is a mountain bike track. Headed to where the GPS pointed and started looking. I wasn't having much luck so MrT carefully scrambled up to help look. Still nothing. Widened our search and still nothing. OK back to the original place and found it. We both were sure we had looked in that spot! Signed log and got the clue. Then returned as found. Had a great outing today, tracking down rogerw3's 10K series of caches!

Found this one without problems.

All was well with the cache and there are still lots of swaps left for future finders.

TNLNSL.

Many thanks to rogerw3 for a great hide and a great series!

Continued along the path, along with dog walking muggles, exercising muggles and mini-muggles speeding on scooters. Thanks for the adventure rogerw3.

It was a beautiful day on which ziggiay, MrSmash, DingoMan007, HanorahTLG and signed undertook the quest to capture the 10,000th cache. But before that we needed to find the clues!

Quick find, I do believe this one was close to the graffitied wall. TFTC!

Did this one solo and I was there for quite a while. I gave up and had that "out of the corner of my eye" moment as I walked back u the track. Not as close to the painted wall as my GPS was telling me.

It took us a short hunt and a little tooing and froing before we settled on a way to access gz for this cache. We were glad there were no mountain bikes hurtling by and we could use part of this very slippery track. As we approached the hide we noticed the fronds of Maiden Fern in the vegetation among the flora on the slope. This was reminiscent of the bush one of us played in when growing up.

The cache was found safely tucked away and the contents were safe and dry.

Thanks for another great cache Rogerw3.

After getting 10K-3 continued down the track for this one I got towards GZ then realised again that I had to be on a different level so went back to the track I noticed as I was getting close going in the direction I wanted to be so headed along it got to GZ and then started looking for the hints. Lots here checked a couple but no luck then I spotted a more likely one but just as I was going for it I heard voices so I walked towards them. Passed a group of 7 walkers said gday & kept walking. When they were out of sight went back and made the find. Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache & log are in great condition. Thanks for the cache rogerw3

After an early visit to a friend in Nepean hospital it was then off to the parking at the end of Old Bathurst Road for a walk along the path to collect the 4 needed caches for info in order to get to GZ of the 5th and final cache of this series.
On a cooler overcast sort of day each cache was found in turn until arriving at the viaduct where the gathered numbers were entered for the fifth and final cache.

Met up with Team Merlin today to make a claim for the cache GA10000.
Just located 10K-1
But needing 10K-2 and the remaining caches of the series before we had the information to make a claim of the final.
Heading back along the path located anther side track which lead us to GZ from here made a quick find with a fresh logbook so we signed as a joint FTF.
Noting the needed information we replaced as found.

After loosing too much light on Sunday night and Monday being too wet I made sure that I got off work as soon as I could and raced back to Lapstone.
I parked at the other end of the path to the car park.
After a short walk I was at the GZ and soon had the cache in hand.
One step closer to the 10,000th cache

Being out at Kingswood for work today, we organised to meet up with JJCC this afternoon for a walk to the viaduct and hunt out the newly released GA10000. Parking at the designated spot it wasn't long before we had found 10K-4 and 10K-3. About 30m out from 10K-2 we realised that a different angle of approach was going to be needed, so we walked back and found a track down. Once at GZ we had a quick find and were really surprised to see a blank logbook so we signed as a joint FTF. After noting the needed information we replaced as found.

Thanks rogerw3 for this series and congratulations on cache 10K
