After parking at the small car park for Woodford Station, frazeydaze and I wandered over to the trail head and walked down through Wilson Glen to the picnic table where we ate a packed lunch which was brought from home. The simple calcs to determine gz was also done during lunch. We noted the fine work the local volunteer bushcare group are doing in the area, even to the extent that the steps had been recently swept. After finishing lunch we set off for gz and to complete the loop walk, along the way finding the cache and picking up a few leeches. Cache all good. SLRC as found. TFTC and a nice walk in the bush. FP awarded.
Oldmorty and I descended into Wilson's Glen, following the track to WP1. There were a couple of tricky spots where part of the track had been washed away, but nothing too difficult. We counted the planks and noted the number. Then it was on to WP2, where we had lunch and calculated the final coords. We noted the "Note To Avoid Muddy Feet," but as it was fairly dry, we followed the compass heading. No one has been this way for a long time as there were several spots where we needed to push through the overgrowth. We made it to GZ and immediately saw where the cache would be located.Yep. Cache found, log signed and cache replaced as found. Now for the ascent back to the car. Thanks to Altaire for the multi. It was a very enjoyable walk.
#7761The weather has given us a break, so were back to boots on the tracks rather than tyres on the road, still chipping away at some challenges and other goals as we go. It was generally cool, a few light showers didn't really slow us down a lot, bunches of leeches in spots! We went from multi to multi today, looking for old caches and "3's" as we went. After the rains of the past week, we were a little nervous starting out here, indeed it was wet and slippery, but in all easy to follow. The bridge after WP2 is gone, in fact it is stacked neatly in a pile now, maybe it will get rebuilt, although I suspect the traffic down here is pretty low.We worked out some numbers and set off to GZ - we found a great spot, but no cache, before checking some areas a bit more exposed, we explored up higher and found the cache snug and dry in its shelter. All in perfect condition.TFTC!
#7760A wet week at home, and still a wet weekend in the Blue Mountains to come by the looks, we need to at least get out and do some caches! Decided to head down to this area and nab some of the newer unfounds nearby, mainly targetting D/T 3s and oldies, and whatever else nearby! end of copy paste FLTFThanks for placing and maintaining this cache Altaire

Slowly pushing towards 10,000 finds. I'll get there soon... But I also have a goal for 2023 - reach five hundred Multi finds. So looked for somewhere that I could up that count, and decided on two in the Bluies. One was a park and park and... erm, grab? The other a pleasant bush walk with a bit of up and down - and let's face it, the down isn't too bad (even with my knees), but the up at the end can be a killer.
In the end had no trouble with either - and unusually for me got the calcs on both right first time!
Decided to go for a P&G to finish the day.
Thankfully the overcast skies didn't open. A pleasant day's caching.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
And what's better on a Winter's day than a pleasant stroll through the bush? Well, maybe a flatter stroll... Every step I took down meant one I needed to take back up!
Finally got to the published coordinates and grabbed the required info. Then a much flatter walk to waypoint 2. Sat there and did my calcs which point... Oh good. I was hoping that would be the case.
However, one problem at this waypoint when I went to look at Gypsy Cave - the bridge was damaged - one side drooping perilously towards the creek. Decided to risk it and walked on top of the still secure side without incident - phew! Not sure how long it will hold, though.
Time to head to GZ, and soon found myself close. With 4 metres on the iPhone I spotted something requiring closer inspection.
Gotcha!
Completed signing duties and replaced.
I noticed that the cache lid has warped slightly - so it isn't sealing properly. I left a few rocks on top that seemed to do the trick. That said, the cache is in otherwise good condition.
Made my way back to *The Hademobile* and my anti-leech spray appeared to have done the trick... Either that or there weren't any around today. Must say, though the whole walk looked pretty leechy as previous finders have noted.
Well structured multi - which made the walk easier. And such an old cache. Deserves a favourite from me.
And 18 months unloved - that's just an unexpected bonus.

Walk was full of leeches today, a very pretty valley. Thanks for placing this cache and bringing me here.
That was quite the journey. We set out today to complete this multi. Lovely walk. Would have been a more enjoyable if not for all the leeches eck!! Plenty of mossies too!
Easy puzzle and easy find. Thanks for the cache!!!

What a spectacular walk and cache placed almost 15 years ago. Had my two geoboys with me on this walk and we had fun exploring side tracks and soaking up bits of history on the way. We enjoyed the simplicity of the multi, but the real benefit was to encourage walking the full trail. Enjoyed a picnic on a huge rock platform for one of our exploring side adventures, with trail markers that seemed to possibly head up to one of the local streets. My boys enjoyed this walk, even though I had them walking for about 4kms with our side adventures. We found the cache after a bit of searching at first, and swaps were made. A Favourite point for bringing us to such a wonderful local area that I had overlooked.TFTC Altaire.
Thanks for a lovely well stocked cache, quite fun working out the coordinates, our first multi!
What a beautiful part of the mountains. Thoroughly enjoyed the daily iso walk down into the valley. TFTC
After leaving the autumn caching event in Wentworth Falls I picked a few caches for a stop on the way home. Great little adventure here. No trouble working out gz. Searched to low initially, but then a quick find.

Initial trouble finding the clues. GPS thought I was on the other side of the highway. After a couple of visits, worked out the coordinates with maths help from my son! Nice spot to rest a while and enjoy the view and wildlife. TFTC
Not only shady but very very wet today. A beautiful spot and a nice walk. JINAK díky za log i když ho asi vymažete není úplný
Enjoyed the walk through "The Valley so Shady". Getting the info on the first structure was straight forward, but needed to decide whether to count the planks on one or both sides of the second structure. Did the calcs for both and then pursued what I thought was the most likely path to GZ and happily logged the find.
Thankyou for this wonderful geocache- our first multi cache. An unexpected place to find surfing tips!!
On a day we expected to get wet from sweat after high temperatures recently, OCW delloro, we got wet from the rain that had fallen overnight. A pleasant stroll through the bush as we gathered the information. I managed to count and do the Maths correctly as usual despite what MrD says. Spotted easily at GZ. This trail doesn't seem to be used much lately. Lovely walk. Thanks for bringing me here. Worth a FP from Brew. TFTC
We enjoyed a lot the walk through the beautiful little valley, even if the shade was not necessary today
Without the multi we would never came here. This is one of the caches, which represents the initial idea of GC! Thanks a lot and a favi from us, redgecco

Liked this one. Great area in ferns for a walk. Counted wooded planks at bridge, then picnic table planks. Easy calculations. Quick find. Signed and replaced. Cache all good. Fav point. Tftc
After two false starts on this cache, we made a straightforward find today. The first time the batteries went flat in our etrex, and we had forgot to pack a spare set. The 2nd time, we successfully found WP1, then accidently used the coords for another cache nearby and actually walked right past WP2. Today, we were more organised and composed and found WP2 and GZ quite easily due to fresh batteries, great cache description and carrying a spare set of batteries. TFTC and the lovely walk.
I came here with my daughter about 2 and a half years ago and did the calculations. We must have got them wrong as we did not find it then, nor did I find it on the four other occasions I came back with the same coords. Today, we came back with phlphotos and did the calculations again. Now I know where I went wrong the last time! Fave point from me, for lots of reasons. It's just a darn good cache!
#1028 came here with alnic & zonic for another cache but to check the Al's calculations when he came the previous times. Had 2 options for GZ as it was closer than the cache we came for decided to try for the cache. Followed the track & the GPSr till it told me we were close enough to try another track so headed in. Couldn't get any reception to find what the hint was. I went down where I thought my GPSr was taking me but got to 2 metres where I was looking in likely areas then felt a stinging feeling on my ankle looked down and saw a bull ant bent double squeezing hard so pulled him off and saw a couple of others on the same boot. Got them off then went back to Al & Zoe. While I was trying to workout another to get to where I wanted to try. Al decided to go up when we heard here it is. So the 2 of us went up to Al to sign the log book. Thanks for the multi Altaire. We then turned around to go to get the other cache at the first step with sweat on my glasses step on the step awkwardly & down I slipped landing on my left leg, as I am having physio on the same knee following rupturing my ACL bad thoughts went through my mind but the knee seemed stable. So went to continue on when Al said he wasn't feeling too well so wanted to go up which would take us to the road. So that was what we did I think Al was really worried about what damage I could do to myself
By the way picked up the trackable in the cache

I came on this walk with geodad a long time ago, but we didn't find it. it was a good walk. I loved the birds and the flowers. dad brought me back today with Sir Phil...and we found it while Phil was getting bitten by ants.
A lovely Sunday afternoon walk with the two younger geo kids and the dog. A nice straightforward multi and an area we haven't explored previously. The calculations were quickly worked out and on and up to gz, a quick find which was good as the youngest was getting tired. Great echoes at the hiding spot. Dropped a tb, tftc
#3755- Back in early 2010 when we had just started caching, bikerbuddy and I tried to find this cache. We found the information we needed and set off towards GZ. Neither of us were able to get to GZ and I think it was fading light that told us that day to leave it. Well, not that much later, bikerbuddy, on one of his days off work, went back, having actually read the cache notes, and found it, but I never made it back.
Today, with all the family off doing other things, and a multi ache souvenir in the offing, this one was my goal.
I went through our old notes and sure enough, found bikerbuddy's calculations, however the equation for X had changed since then. With the info in hand, I headed for Woodford on an absolutely glorious sun-shiney day, with the only thing you should be doing was caching.
The week had been productive- cleaning, washing, working, but now it was....my time.
I had started the day slowly, in fact when I left home I had barely done any steps, so I knew this would help too. As I neared the first WP, I heard a family ahead, and was greeted by a very friendly little boy with his mum. I thought they may have been caching, but they were hide and seeking instead. I checked the info and it still worked out to be the same answer as it was six years ago. I continued on, listening to the birds, though I didn't actually spot any. WP2- correct. So now on to GZ. This time I was determined to find this cache today. I re- read the notes and continued on, and found the cache immediately.
As I looked through it I realised there was everything except a log book. Luckily I printed the cache notes and wrote my name on top of that to put inside. I was just returning it when I saw the log book sitting on a rock nearby. Strange. Luckily the zip lock bag had kept it dry. As a bone. Signed and replaced.
I also found a geocoin languishing here that has been missing for four years- will move it on.
Thanks for a wonderful hours stroll in the bush- a favourite from me for this cache which has not been found in a year.

Today I with two others set off to ride down the Oaks Fire Trail to Glenbrook. Only after did I find it strange that I chose to drive all the way back to Woodford to grab some caches afterwards.
I was very slow going on the tracks here, but the required info was easily gathered, and the cache soon found.
Bad news about the cache container though, only one clip is remaining on it, so I put a rock over the top to hold it until a new container is brought along.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for taking me along this great track Altaire. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this hunt and surprisingly managed to complete during my lunch break even though i would of liked to spend more time exploring.
Thanks also to the local bushcare group who do a great job down here.

A lovely walk through my memories, though if they are to be trusted the area around WP2 has changed considerably since I was last here. I was also sorry that I hadn't looked at the gallery photos before I headed into the valley as I would have liked to look out for Tealby Spa. A little bit of confusion after WP2, but a quick check of the cache description had us heading in the right direction. The GPSr soon had us at the cache, with a small lookout just a few metres away. Caching duties done, a short walk had us back in the real world. TFTC
Found, with JustR, as part of the 7 Souvenirs of August challenge. Lovely walk, before heading off to work. We met a possum in our travels, an unusual sight in broad daylight. TNLN TFTC
A near perfect sunny winter's day for a lone wander along the tracks. Midweek and a railway carpark full it was an easy around the corner park, and as it was, close to the start track (though a distance from the Multi exit).
Into the valley so shady indeed, in the mild conditions it was a pleasure to amble along, the soft murmur of the bush quickly replaced the initial annoyance of railway noise, with some nice pockets of fern in the dappled sunlight.
A slight divergence for a rogerw3 GCA, and the soon upon first waypoint ... a double count to be sure, but it is clear enough ... and the walk continued gently downwards with sprigs of wattle at the start of bloom. The track wound gently to meet a wider path, a light incline to the second waypoint, and place to sit to calculate and input to the Garmin.
At this point the cache notes were an asset, warning and guiding for what was ahead. Steps, steps, and steps ... narrow in part, and a bit of a stretch on creaking knees, but certainly nothing untoward. (I suspect it was the shock factor following the pleasantness of the earlier part of the trek.)
Up to the necessary level, notes in hand, it was relatively easy to move along the track towards the cache and despite the loose leaf litter to the GZ ... a cache well placed in its hide, in excellent condition, chockers with goodies ...
... and, unbelievably, unfound for but a few days short of a year. TNLNSL.
This walk and Through the Valley so Shady deserves more patronage, and I am mightily pleased to have ventured into this lovely bushland pocket. TFTC Altaire

This cache proved more of a challenge than we anticipated as the bridge at WP1 has been repaired and there now is a different number of slats. After doing the necessary calculations we went to GZ but soon realized we weren't where we should be. We then went back to WP2 to recheck to see if that calculation was correct which it was so deduced that there was an error with WP1. After carefully reading Altaire's notes of how to get to the cache we spend some time searching in the area where we thought it might be and we were just about to give up and then we found it. We thought how lucky we were as it was starting to get quite late and the light was fading. Thanks for the cache. It's in a great spot and we had fun trying to find it.
What busy little beavers are the local bush care group. I presume it was them who had the temerity to fix up the bridge without telling us! Thanks Pandsa for the tipoff about the change to WP1. Sorry about the extra hassle but well done with finding the cache despite the added hurdle. Calculation has been updated to take into account the shiny new bridge.
And this makes 400!
All along I thought I was only reaching 300 and surprised myself when writing this log.
My recently again pained ankle isn't going for large adventures yet so I needed something relatively nice but still worth the walk. I'd had this one suggested from the COs themselves so I thought it would be worth a look.
Had fun counting everything before we needed to and looks like a third plank is on the way out at WP2. Realised the track must have done a loop at some point so we continued up the track. Calculations sitting down led to one wet buttox but we strode on through.
We were glad for the track hints on how to get to the final or the geodad may have done some serious fern bashing, such that my ankle is not up to.
We then continued on up the hill to some more caches.
A lovely walk!

Another close by multi finally done. Nearly all my close by caches are multi's now. Slowly making my way through them all one by one. This area is very shady indeed. Sat on the seats to make the calculations and then it made for an interesting approach to GZ. TFTC. Found with azazzlenc.
Found it about a week ago, just logging it. Nice little multi, even despite the heat. TFTC
I parked at the station and then started the walk. A nice walk to WP1 where the information was found quickly. A lovely walk around to WP2 where info again was made quickly. I then sat down for a bit to then make myself some co-ordinates, then I was off for the cache. At GZ, I struggled as I need to make a quick adjustment to my co-ords and in short time, the cache was in my hands.
A nice bush walk here and lovely bushland. I enjoyed this little multi. Nicely done and well worth it. Well done Altaire. Took TB. TFTC.

This was a beautiful walk - I started at about 4:30PM so not too hot. It's fascinating to see the bush reclaim the old structures.
I found the cache easy enough, and the contents are nice and dry but I did notice one of the clips have come off, and another one is almost broken as well. If that goes, the container may need to be replaced.
I dropped of a Mario TB which I had picked up earlier today.
Thanks for showing me this lovely spot, Altaire!

We have been setting up a new cache nearby, and have been taking time out to do the waypoints from each end, so we have not actually walked the full length of the track. We will be back to do so however. As Lizzie was unable to be with me today, she will have the dubious pleasure of doing the full walk to earn her star. If she ever actually joins officially that is.
I got confused with the T junctions and cliff faces, and ended up taking the lower "muddy" track. Apart from one patch it was not too bad And it took me right to GZ. I went out on the high track which took me right to where I had parked the Phaeton (Don't tell Lizzie I pinched it!) via a lovely little lookout I would otherwise have missed.
Definitely a cache worthy of a favourite award.

Aha, so that's the starting point, up there! With that sorted, a pleasant walk through the bush, finding things along the way. Some pleasant surprises, piccy tables in overhangs and more. Easy find at GZ and took the short route out, straight up to the road, not far from the car. Picked up Yowie TB
Mrs. pjmpjm and I chose this cache today because we were looking for a cool and shay place to walk on a hot day, and had never explored the Wilson's Glen area of Woodford. In fact, we'd never even heard of it . . .
The 1 km roundtrip walk and the lower gully area were certainly beautiful, but we're acclimated to the Upper Mountains and the 32 degree temperatures in the Lower Mountains nearly led us to heat exhaustion! We really underestimated the day's expected temperatures.
Nevertheless, this was a successful geocaching adventure. We thought that the two waypoints were about 10 metres off (at least, by the feedback from our Oregon 300) but the obvious 'woody features' at those two sites that needed counting made these coordinates close enough. On the other hand, the calculated final GZ coordinates were spot on. Maybe that's because we were up high again and got better satellite info.
No a soul around today. We had the whole place to ourselves. If it hadn't been so terribly hot we would have stayed longer, but the 'ups and downs' of all the steps finally wore us out and we were grateful for a quick find at the end, after a very modest 'scramble' only a few metres off the track.
The CO's clues were very helpful and a couple of the earlier logs also prepared us for what was to come -- except for the heat!
The good-sized cache container was in fine shape and the contents were dry. Log book was excellent. Lots of nice goodies still waiting for trade. Took the 'SA Firesafe' GC to move on and noted rogerw3's 'Crag the Yowie' TB. LNSL.
Many thanks to Altaire for a great cache in a great place! We know today's hot weather wasn't your fault . . .

A beautiful little walk and like many others in the Blue Mountains I suppose it was constructed during the heyday of mountains tourism in the 1920s or 30s. It would be a great spot for a picnic in summer. Someone has spent a lot of time constructing stone steps and levelling the path. The direct route to GZ is not necessarily the easiest way, so I guess that as usual I made it harder than it needed to be. I should have read the cache descripion more closely.
This one gave me a bit of trouble, the key is finding the right track which I did in the end, once at GZ it looks like you could arrive there from 3 different directions!
However very neat, just have to love this well stocked cache. Left Yowie and 2x Olympic pins, took key finder.
Also left Yowie TB.
Thanks for the cache, I would never have gone to this spot otherwise.
However very neat, just have to love this well stocked cache. Left Yowie and 2x Olympic pins, took key finder.

It's a pity that so few cachers like multis, as this is one of the best around, scenery to die for, and a great walk to boot.
Thanks for the fun I had getting to this cache.

I really liked this cache, despite feeling like I wasn't going to find it at one point. Finding the waypoints and doing the maths was no problem, but then I found myself trying to bushbash towards GZ. Hang on, this doesn't seem right. I checked the notes and sure enough I was going about it the wrong way. So I took the advice and found myself on a more promising path. When I finally got in the vicinity of GZ I found the cache within a minute. The hard part was taking the correct route in the first place. My advice is check the cache notes again once you've calculated GZ. This was a really pleasant spot, apart from the voracious mozzies. I signed the log but took nothing from this well stocked cache. I noticed that while this was nowhere close to a FTF, I've been the first to find this cache this year. Strange it isn't attempted more often.

What planks? start the track, voilla some planks. GPS not always the way to go.
WP2 Ok, fair enough count one or both, what about nearby?
Too many variables for me. did the maths and ended up standing
in the middle of the highway. More clues please

Interesting bit of history & a good location for a cache. Well what a multi this was for me. Embarrassingly I’m usually good at maths but today !!!!!!! Well the short story is I stuffed up both S & E coordinates. There will be a good result out of this, it lead me to a spot where I will place a cache in the future, (a little research is needed before this) so stay turned. In the end I must thank cache owner Altaire for this cache, it’s a top spot, good location but other caches don’t think so with so little finds. By the way this cache is stocked with so many goodies & I mean goodies it makes the find worthwhile. TFTC / TFTH / SL
What a lovely walk to do on a warm day.... the birds were singing, the bees were buzzing, the lizards were doing lizard things and the waratahs were flowering.
We sat on a rock by the cache for ages, taking in the view. There was something in the undergrowth nearby. It sound like it was eating it's lunch. We were a bit worried that we might be dessert but we survived to tell the tale!
We took a padlock and left a decorated jar of bath salts.
Thanks Altaire for a very pleasant walk. Thanks also to the unsung heroes in the landcare group who are looking after this area.

#6 and our first multi. The description of an easy walk (and lack of cliffs) led us to take geopuppy and geokid (age 3 3/4) with us, and all the steps made it a tough one for them, but both kept up really well. We live near here but had never ventured down into the glen before. We will go back though 'cos it was a lovely walk with stunning wildflowers (the waratah, pink boronias and the bauera especially). Was relieved at the cache to look at the coordinates for start and realise we were already most of the way back! And then it started raining.
Cache was an easy find even with our novice gps reading skills.
Took mini round compass and left kids textas. Thanks

A lovely walk in an new area for me. I am always fascinated how many little hidden away delightful places are in the mountains. I agree with some of the other comments, it is amazing that this cache has not been found since April this year, more than 4 months ago. I can't understand why as the area is fantastic. The cache is still in good order and well stocked. Both waypoints were found fairly easily but the answer to the second question I did wonder which picnic table seat was to be counted. I must have picked the correct one as I found the cache with little problem. Took the spindoc Bob CD and some coins. We are going out west of the mountains in a few weeks so thought I would move them on to a new cache. Left a lock and radio.
Good one Altaire, TFTC.

With a bit of time to spare today I thought I'd grab one of those caches that I've driven past many times and think "I'll do that one day."
Hoping for a bit of luck I headed to where I thought GZ may have been. Ah, no luck. Armed with a bit more info I headed to my next hunch and finally the cache was in hand. I probably should have done the walk as both methods probably took about the same time.
Thanks for bring me here Altaire. Swapped a few travellers.

This whole multi is very well set out as it takes the cacher on a delightful circuit walk on a little known track in Woodford. After parking the car at the station it was a mere 70 m walk to the start of the track, with its own grand entrance of yesteryear. Heading down the steps, the modern world just melted away, as the temperature dropped very pleasantly and one entered the world of fairies. What a beautiful fairy glen, lush ferns, a babbling brook and even a picnic table nearby. Walking along I came upon Tealby Spa, another relic from yesteryear, a bubbler with a natural spring fed 'tap" carved out of stone. This made me very curious, as to the history of this track.
Not long after I came upon Wpt 1. coords spot on, noting the required information I moved onto wpt 2, again coords spot on and using this waypoint I sat myself down in the shade beside a small stream and a cave to do the maths. nothing too hard about this. GZ was very close by, so onwards and .....
Found the cache relatively easily after making it somewhat more difficult than it was meant to be. If you find yourself, crawling under rocks on narrow ledges then you are in the wrong spot, this is virtually a snatch and grab.
Being an Altaire cache I had come prepared with something worthy of swapping, as their caches are always filled to the brim with good quality items. This one was no different. Great big log book too.
I took the USB drive and left a DVD and a Geocaching Australia sticker. I also left the Scooby Do TB and a Mtnbiker Oz pathtag.
I then continued another 100 or so meters to complete the loop and ended up by the road and not long after back at the car.
This is a delightfully short walk, nothing hard, no tricky waypoints with numerous spots to sit along the way for a drink or a bite to eat. Good one Altaire!

Wow! How amazing that things like this are so close to the hustle and bustle of the highway and train line.

Why has this gone over a year unfound!?!

A nice walk after work, we had never been down here before, a bit of confusion with the GPS but eventually located it, thanks for the cache.

Not such an easy cache to do in the dark - however we did it. It took longer than we thought it would due to the poor reception from WP2. We were just about to give up when we got some better reception. We really enjoyed the walk - however the time we spent looking for the cache using bad reception was almost enough to make us scream.
Hey Altaire,
I moved to woodford last year and had every intention of visiting as many cashes as possible, but after 'Royalty with a view', i got slack! Today was Printers Picnic Day! YAH! so i thought i'd set my home coord's and check out whats around, so you can imagine my joy when i find a cashe 900 meters from home, i read the logs and realised that it was close to where i walk home and the dog, and imagine my disbelife when i realised that i have walked past it, at least 3 times a week, every week!!!!! aarrghhh.
Anyhow great spot, great cashe, plenty of goodies!
Couldnt fit my swap without taking out half of the swaps, so took The Red Soldier TB, TNSL.
Cheers The Old Sod.

This is a very pleasant walk through some interesting terrain. Most of it is either up or down, but you only get to the UP bit when your tired out. There are some very nice rest spots on the way where you could have quite a picnic so, if you have time, take along the necessaries. The GPS bounces around a bit as you near the holy grail, but if you keep pressing on it sorts itself out OK. As far as my GPS is concerned the coords are correct. A well-stocked cache full to the brim. TNLN.
What a nice place to have a walk. Easy access from the train station. Once I got all the info and did the maths I scrambled around the rocks and various other tracks and finally located the cache. It took a little while for my GPSr to settle arounf the GZ but once it did the co-ords were spot on. A fantatic loaded cache with lots of swaps but I didn't take anything only sign4ed the log. Afterwards I had lunch in the cave, nice and cool, but while I was eating my lunch the mozzies were having a feast on my blood . Anyway a most enjoyable hunt
Thanks Altaire for the adventure.

Again, the family are out in the much cooler evening mountain air, it's so much nicer at this time, quiet, just perfect.
We parked at the station parking area, wandered along the old track, walked over WP1 without knowing it and got to WP2, where I realised we had not got the info from WP1, so back I went. Dropped the palms stylus under WP1, had to scratch around to find it and then jogged back to the rest of the family at WP2.
Maths done, I checked out the Gypsy cave and the remains of the old BBQ. We continued on our way til we came to the long forgotten lookout, they really knew how to build stuff back then, all from stone. This took us a while to find, GPS had us no where near GZ, but I really widened my search and found the big cache. Good container!
Nice to see such a well stocked and good sized cache, makes quite a difference from the small half empty city caches we see so many of.
Anyways, with light starting to fade, we grabbed the coin, a dictionary, and a candle and left some face paint, a mini cdrom game and a electronic key finder. Only just managed to shut the cache!!
Loved the locations, loved the walk, loved the old lookout, finished the circuit walk and then back to the car, now to go drop in on Bruce.
Thanks Altaire for another brilliant cache!

The sun had decided to make an appearance by the time we reached the parking area and much to our surprise it was just about empty. On route we passed Tealby Spa and who ever he/she was they must have been pretty small to fit in it. We soon reached the first location then onto the second. After a brief mathematical interlude it was onto the cache. As always Altaire’s caches are always choka full of good swaps and are great fun to do.

This cache tallies up 100 for me and so I feel a need to say a bit more on Geocaching in general.
I started back at my old job in Orange in March 2006. As I live in Cessnock 400km away, this requires me to be away from home for 4 days a week (I negotiated 4 x 10 hour days with a 3 day weekend every week. Highly recommended for Geocachers!). So, on my way back to Orange each week with a whole day to get there, I decided to take up bushwalking again. This is something I haven’t done for probably 20 years. I concentrated on well formed tracks in popular areas as I really didn’t know what I was doing. I found that although I am much older than when I last bushwalked, and I am carrying a few kilos more, I was able to walk much longer distances and enjoyed a rapid improvement in fitness for this type of activity. I was very quickly walking up to 27km a day which could include an accent/decent of maybe 600m several times. Soon after, I upgraded my phone to a pocket pc phone with bluetooth. It cost nothing, care of Telstra, due to the number of calls I was making to my bride of 25 years while away for work. I thought it would be fun to get a bluetooth gps to go with the phone and purchased one on ebay for $100. For $100 you don’t get any software so when it arrived it was pretty much useless. Therefore, I surfed the net for software that would allow me to do something with this new gps “gadget†that I had purchased. GPS Tuner came up and I noted that it was designed with the “Geocacher†in mind. Geo-what? Google quickly sent me to the Geocaching.com website. My first look was over the weekend and I found that there were LOTS of geocaches near home. I loaded one into my newly downloaded GPS tuner software and pointed to the direction of where it should be. My daughter thought it was near a lookout she knew of (why my 20 YO daughter should know lookout locations I didn’t ask) and so she joined me on the first hunt. We didn’t find it! But we really enjoyed the walk that took us on a section of the Great North Walk. Next week, on the way back to work, I thought I would try again. I headed for "the Hydro Majestic" (GCVV0N). I was a very happy cacher when I found the stash. It was a very nice walk to a magnificent view with a prize at the end (and a Travel Bug??????). Since then I have been obsessed.
So, a little over 6 months later, I am a Premium Member and I have racked up 100 caches. I cannot see it ending soon. I have made pseudo acquaintances with other cachers like Altaire, Scenic Routers, Subbydazz, Mix etc who share my common interest. I am bushwalking more now because I have a reason. Work sent me oversees and to FNQ. Guess what I done whilest there? I'm sure I have seen places the average visitor didn't see!
As I surfed the net yesterday for the worthy “100th†cache, Altaires new listing showed up. I thought “that’s it and a First-To-Find to boot†so off I went. As I have an unfound cache with dodgy co-ordinates, I thought I should verify these on the way, it will only slow me down an hour or so. Later, after a beautiful walk, I arrived at GZ of “Through the Valley So Shady†to find that Foundem beat me to it earlier today. You know what? I don’t care! FTF’s are over-rated. The act of caching is what it is all about. I retrieved a swap coin from Altaires latest cache that states “The search for a cache is more precious than the treasureâ€. Can't argue with that!
Thanks for your latest cache Altaire, you have helped to enrich my life.

ventured out to the valley with lots of shade. very cool indeed.
had my boys worked out the counting at both the waypoints.great tranquil spot with no one in sight.found the hard way to gz which was good , just got to cover a more senic area in the bush,
found the path back much easier going . all in all great adventure in the unknown part of the mountain
cheers Altaire

Coin drop. Something I noticed whilst dropping off the coin. If approaching GZ from below, as you get close a cliff line may mess about with your GPS reading. If so just keep going a bit higher on the path to where coverage is better.
