Logged with permission. I'd printed out my cache list before the cache was archived and so 'found' this cache afterwards. Great place to stop and an interesting geological information. TFTC. Glad to hear a (different) cache will remain at the site.
I have decided that I'm going to archive this one.
I don't feel that it's as educational as an Earthcache should ideally be.

We were lucky to be at this Earthcache two days before it was archived. Thx for the quick permission to log and for showing us this interesting location.

Thanks for another earthcache. It's interesting seeing these different geological features from what we've seen in the North Island and we enjoyed learning about it.. TFTC.
Logged with permission. Found with SargeNZ on the way to Twizel with rest of NZ family. They really do look like pillows! TFTC
On a mission to finally knock some of the outstanding caches on my list. Lodged with permission. The formation is interesting with all the different colours in the limestone and also of interest is the monument in this area which is still celebrated anually.

Interesting formations. Grass is starting to obscure them a bit.
Thanks for bringing us here.
Thanks for bringing us here.
Oamaru is so well known for its limestone I had no idea there were volcanic deposits around here too! Logged with permission.
Found on our trip around the beautiful South Island. First we drove past the site, then we did a u-turn and came back to the viewing spot. Lucky the cache was here otherwise we would have just drove past without knowing about pillow lava like most people do.
Thanks for placing the EarthCache here Moneydork.

Found with baby&Mrs gopher on our NZ trek. The second stop and 2nd earth cache on our trip from Dunedin to Timaru & it was a different stop to the last one. It was a quick dash to the info & we were amazed once again at the answer and had to have a look at the pillows on our way out. Excellent info and education again. TFTC Moneydork,

A very interesting spot to stop with some great history that we normally just drive straight by. Thank you Moneydork for showing us this spot.. Cheers Bo
Amazing rock forms. We would have drove right passed if we weren't Cachers, and not even known about it. Emailed owner. TFTC
Enjoyed the Geological lesson. It is quite an interesting quandary about the road being cut through the area, if it had not been we would not have had the view of the lava that we have.

Bit of a surprise to find an earthcache here, but interesting nonetheless. Those rocks have been there that long, and we just built a road through it?
Thanks Moneydork!
Thanks Moneydork!
Logged with permission. Youngest pukeko chick really enjoyed the geological aspect - one of his hobbies. Thank you.
Found the cache site and the notice. Spotting the physical pillows took ages to see - this was nearly as hard as find a cache.
Email sent with details.

Thanks for the geology lesson. What I found interesting was the difference at each corner. TFTC (126)
Found on a visit from Australia and on a trip from Dunedin to Christchurch. A interesting stop on the highway that I would normally have driven right by.
Thanks for the cache and the visit to this geological wonder.

Great spot, did it as we cruised the whole Vanished World trail - very cool !. The Pillow lavas at Cape Wanbrow are even better! My best memories of Geology 101 !

North Otago is full of wonderful geological formations and this is one of them. TFTC
Probably our quickest earth cache ever. Not so easy to see at dusk.

#1226 Stopped for coffee while the sun was still shining. Unusual formation of rocks that I have never seen before despite a long interest in geology. Answer in mail.
Stopped off on our way to Bon Jovi concert. had to stretch the old legs and get a bit of blood back to the butt! thanks
What an interesting spot i would never have known about this had we just kept driving by. My daughter was just fascinated by it and so we had to go over and take a closer look Thanx
Hey this was a very cool place to stop. WE will bring the children to show them next time we are through.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Grabbed the info from the sign just before a rain squall hit so didn't actually see the formations as we were running for the car.
Interesting location.
I have driven past many times before, but I have never really noticed the formations.

This is the second location we have seen these lava pillar formations in the Oamaru area. I find them really interesting. Thanks for bringing me here.
Nice pause on the way home from Christchurch. An odd place, thanks for pointing it out.
This is our first Earthcache ever. Interesting formation. TFTC and greetings from Switzerland
We tried to do this one some while back back but hadn't realised it was an earthcache (I usually just download waypoints without looking at the listing unless it's a multi) so spent about 20 mins looking for the non-existant cache... when we got we realised our mistake, but then had forgotten what the sign said TFTC
Found it at 11.45 hrs-nice and interesting geological spot.
Mailed the answer.

As mentioned before it's a spot that would be easy to drive right by and have no idea of the significance of the rock formations. Thanks, Moneydork, for making me stop.

Thank you for placing an earth cache here. We probably would of passed it by on our excursion thru New Zealand. The signs are a bit confusing so we looked around a bit before we found the unique markings in the Earth. Actually, the signs are so confusing we passed the sign and turned left on a little farm road behind the memorial. Our campervan became stuck in a mud patch and we had to borrow a farmers hay to stuff around the camper to get out. 20 minutes later and we were out of that mud slicked road and ready to enjoy the cache. We were able to get two earth caches in New Zealand among the 21 we were able to fit in to our jam-packed 17 day, 2800 mile excursion. Your country is beautiful. I also took a moment to appreciate the memorial at this site as well.

Found this one with Comradehunt on the "get to 100 and 250th mission" journey. Emailed answer...
Found this one with The-Organist on our Oamaru/Duntroon round trip. Emailled answer.
Logging with permission. Visited with k1ngb0bby, the driver 7 and mrboss. Very interesting. Talking with migsand later about it, it would appear there are other formations around as well. This is a great spot to see them - so obvious, yet you can drive past without knowing... Thanks for the cache, well worth it.

Logged with permission on our way to Dunedin. Very interesting. Drove past here heaps and not even know it was there. On the way back home, they were so obvious. TFTC
A vey informative cache. We turned off here and had a good look around. The kids loved the name.

Another one of those places that you would normally just race past without stopping. However, this cache was an excellent reason to and now I've seen something that most people who go past wouldn't even realise was there. Thanks Moneydork for letting me log this one.
1507. We would never have recognised these banks for what they are so thanks for the opportunity to stop, view, read and experience.
