This cache has been lost - I am now archiving it in the hope someone else will take up the challenge of locating one at the summit.
Many thanks to those who took up the challenge of finding it - the view is breathtaking as is the walk (literally!)
Cheers,
Sherpa

Well I made the climb to find another near by Cache, And decided to climb to the Top to have a look for this one.
The view was soooooo worth it.
Unfortunetly I have to add my name to the increasing list of DNFers. We looked and we looked but we were unable to find it.

Had a great trek up the mountian enjoyed the veiws, had a rest for the walk back down but didnt find this cache. I did spend many minutes digging around to try and find it. Ive been up this mountain 5 times over the last few years, on this occasion it was the cleanest Ive ever seen. Maybe this log has been trashed?
All was not lost I placed my own cache down the trail, allot safer anyone to find and easy to check on frequently to make sure it always there for geocachers.
Cheers

Well what can I say ,Dooghan has said it all except we started the climb at 5 AM after driving down (leftYeppoon @ 3.15 am)
I did find a drink container with a blue lid ( see picture in Dooghans log ). Perhaps it had shrunk and the contents evaporated ?
Oh well another DNF to log. Or perhaps we could log a "FOUND IT wasn't there" log.
The views still good and a new track near the summit makes the last part of the climb much easier. Thanks for bringing me back here.

This cache hasn't been found in over a year. Today was the day for Temingi and myself to fix that. So we thought. I've been up there a couple times before. I didn't have any problems before but I found it bloody hard this time around. I don't think Temingi minded all the stops. We did get to the top and the search start. We both agree where GZ was and found nothing. We then widened the search down the hill side all around GZ by as much as 20m and still nothing. We moved a lot of leaf litter as it could have been buried over the year and nothing. We read the clue and logs and it would seem it should have been an easy find. We ended up both agreeing that it has been muggled. I think the owner needs to check on it. Temingi did find a couple of items that made him and then myself think he did find it (see attached pic). At least the view from up there is as good as I remember.

Seem to be a New Years eve tradition "to climb a mount somewhere" that KT + I have by chance repeated a fair few times over the past few years
Well this one had JJ buggered, several times over, but after several 2 min rest stops, at last we made it, set out at about 1:30pm, got back to the car at about 6pm, with a fair bit few photos taken @ the top.
KT had a slip near the cache and ended up with a grazed knee.
we have been meaning to find the time to climb this one for years, thanks for putting a cahce at the top aswell!!

Kat and I had climbed this mountain before. Alas, we had no idea what geocaching was at the time!! So we redid it! It was hot and long, but worth it. Found cache easy enough once we were at the top! discover coin. TNLN TFTC
8:30am
Was conned into making the climb again with a couple of mates who hadn't done it before. After I got over the shock of being woken up at such a rude hour, I was glad that I had been as the views were much better this time around. It truly is worth the climb. After waiting for Kat+Drew to catch up and then find the cache, I decided that it was time the coin made a move, so took it and left a carabiner behind.

Without a word of exaggeration, the best cache location I've seen so far. Started the climb after lunch, so I was conscious of how long it took me to get to the top - didn't want to be coming down in the dark.
Climbing the long steep section I was grateful for a cool breeze and a few spots of rain. Made it to the Sleeping Giant just as a group of muggles were leaving. Fantastic views from up on the rock. Didn't find the cache straight away, hunted around the nooks and crannies for a while.
Wasn't too hard to find in the end. Took lots of photos, and made it down the hill in about half the time of the ascent.

Found the cache easily. Well hidden, but not frustratingly. Good walk. Did it with 3 children, aged 8 6 and 5, all coped with it. Four hour return walk. Thanks for setting up the cache. The cache is still in good condition, 5 star medalian is still in cache, and waiting for someone who will be climbing another mountain sooner than us.
Thanks Sherpa for awakening my interest in Geocaching again. Having placed the original geocache the "Sleeeping Giant" near the summit on the 13 June 2004 and letting it fade from existence due to track realignment and lack of enthusiasm, I decided to reacquaint myself with this sport/hobby again on a recent "get-fit" climb. Found your cache immediately (waypoints are spot-on), took nothing, but left a couple of small hat badges. My wife and I climb this local peak a number of times every winter season and never tire of the views it allows. Off to Tassie for 3 months walking in October, so will have to get busy and download a few of the interesting cache's to do while there.

8:45am - Find #50!!!
Well what a morning constitutional this turned into! After a couple of abortive attempts to make this climb, myself and a few non-cacher mates decided that this morning was the morning, regardless of trivial things like weather. Up nice and early to tackle the summit just after daybreak, was the theory.
In reality, it wouldn't have mattered what time we did it. Showers/rain and mist were our constant companions, making for an interesting ascent. Once at the top, I reached for a jumper (from my usual hiking pack that elicited all sorts of snide remarks before we left about me being over prepared - remarks that more or less stopped at this stage ) and set about finding the cache without slipping on the wet rocks.
A reasonably easy find in the end, although an effort to get to. Very glad we did though - weather included. The view of a white world stretching off into nothingness above the clouds was well worth the climb.
Unfortunately, I remembered half way up the mountain that I'd needed to put my caching bag into the backpack, so no swaps. Considered seriously pulling the coin to take abseiling with me out at Cania Gorge next weekend, but didn't feel right doing so without a swap. So it stays ensconced in its mountain retreat.
TFTC - and for giving us the extra motivation needed to make this tops climb.
Cheers

We got to the sleeping giant when we should of still been sleeping - it was 6.35am. We were hoping to get a fair way up before the heat got to us. Unfortunately this was not the case as because it was quite steep and rough we stopped for lots of rest breaks. Or we could say we were just stopping to admire the great views. We eventually got to the top. Well in my case almost to the top (within the last 5 metres). The rocks that I was required to travel over to get to the top were just too difficult for me to traverse. If only my legs were longer. I did feel very disappointed as it was a goal I had set myself. However Bruce went forth and took photos and found the cache. It was a great experience - on par with climbing Mt Warning in NSW. We used all of the 5 hours and a bit to complete the return journey. Luckily we did take plenty of water with us because we needed it. Thanks Sherpa from Oz
OK a week later than planned ... but a big Friday night, and QldPanther's FTF, diminished my enthusiasm to tackle it as planned last Saturday - but as I had made a note (due to posting a note to the wrong cache page [:o)]) ... thought I had better complete it ...
Early start today, an hour to drive down and commenced our assult on the hill around 7:00am ... well it looks like a hill - but now I think it is rightly called a mountain. It took us just over 4hrs, with half an hour or so on the top - lots of huffing and puffing going up, and some wobbly legs on the way down ... all good exercise and fun [:o] ... me thinks ... ask me tomorrow
Swapped geocoins - releasing own of mine up here
5star climb ... as for this caches rating ... OK I know I am not the fittest person around, but I reckon the terrain rating for this one should be more ... at least 1/2 a star more - not the hardest hill climbed for a cache, but it would be in the top five for sure.
And as it was "Clean Up Australia Day", had my own little CITO event [^], collecting discarded water / drink bottles on the way out - just wish I had brought more water with me, or maybe even started it a bit earlier
thanks for the cache sherpa ... and the exercise ... and the sore legs I will definately be enduring tomorrow

Well 6:00am this morning I decided the weather was good enough to attempt this climb that I had been planning for a couple of weeks but work and weather kept me at ground level. I grabbed my water, camera, Gps and the mtn man admin brick geocoin and off I head. A little trouble finding the start of the track but at 6:30am I was off. At 7:00am I stopped for a quick breather as I noticed the track ahead looked a bit steeper than what I had travelled so far and being rather unfit I was already huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf lol. Off again and this time I was stopping every couple of minutes to let my legs have a quick 15 second rest b4 heading off again. At 7:30am Stopped for another 5 min rest and to admire the view of the harbour before attempting to tackle the next section which looked even steeper than the last. Again I found myself stopping every 5 minutes or so for a quick breather but at 7:50am I had reached an area where the walk levelled out a bit and then a nice area for a good break, drink and again admire the scenery before tacking on the last part of the climb. This stop also put me at approx 120m from GZ and the next section was defiantly a lot steeper than anything already covered. The last section made me glad that I have had quite a bit of mountaineering experience b4 (back when I was fit lol) as some of the short climbs I did had me wondering if I was still on the track or weather I was making my on track but at least distance to GZ was diminishing then at 8:00am I reached the summit. 5 Mins later I had cache in hand log signed swaps made and cache replaced. Time for a quick few pics another rest and a drink and start heading back down. Take note have a decent rest at the top as the build up off chemicals in the body can cause problems on the way back down. By the time I got back to the last rest stop b4 the climb to the summit (only 5-10mins) my legs were starting to shake rather bad so at this stop I had a better break before heading off again. The trip back down saw me only stopping a few times (same places as the rest breaks on the way up) as of course the going was a lot easier but I enjoyed the few small uphill sections on the way back as the seemed to relive a bit of the pain starting to appear in my legs. 9:30am and I arrived back at the car and stood back and admired what I had just accomplished b4 hopping in the car and going home. Total walking part of the trip was about 6k I think as I forgot to turn off my gps when I got back to the car so the trip home was included in the trip log. This has been an amazing climb and has brought back some fond memories of the past and even though I have lived in the Gladstone area since I was 6 I have never had a good enough excuse to tackle this climb b4. Thanks for the cache Sherpa and the excuse to climb the sleeping giant. I guess you were wrong with your log on page 2 of the log book but the views cache and the FIRST TO FIND were definitely worth the climb. Took key ring and left Geocoin Thanks for the cache.

bugger ... was planning an assult this weekend ... well done QldPanther on the FTF ... you want wobbly legs - give "Tutankhamen was here!" (GCR4QJ) a go
... might go for quantity rather than quality now - hope the weather holds out.
(apologies for original note - wrong cache page [:o)])
