1200 km and only one cache. how bad is that. very wet under foot this morning. nothing like wet feet for the rest of the day. tftc
Found it quickly following someone else's track in but got very wet feet from all the rain today. TFTC #894
Thought we were at the wrong place to begin with but after a short search came up trumps.TFTC
Found it after a long search, pretty hard to get to! And co-ordinates were off a little. Cheers

The area to which the GPS took me was boggy and full of brambles. Wellies or walking boots and old trousers would be best. No luck there though
Thanks to a kind email exchange by alansee, I finally discovered what stopped me from finding this cache all this time. It's amazing to think that I could have been a few feet from it, the cache itself is nearly fluorescent blue, and I still managed to miss it, many times over! No longer. Another annoying nemesis drops off the Greymouth DNF hit list TFTC Blake!
A couple of logs had me thinking that this could take a little while but at gz the cache was in virtually the first place that I looked. If only that happened more often!
We stay over night in Greymouth and so I searched this cache in the evening.

Are you kidding me? Allright then. You KNOW I have to come back and look again, don't you?
Why am I the only one who can't find this cache? Decided to revisit my 2 DNFs of yesterday before driving home. Once again, the GPS put me pretty much in the same spot, and this time I trampled a good 10m radius as well as checked behind every bit of blackberry, toi toi, gorse and clumps of grass. I go home defeated (with wet feet). And determined to find it next time I am in town. This one is starting to become like my Waikawa Bay palm tree...
What am I missing here? "can see it from 10m away?" Bollocks!!! Spent a good 10 minutes trampling everything in a 5m radius from where the GPS zeroed out. This one is building to be my next "nemesis" cache! I'll be back tomorrow for another try. One good thing - I finally found out why it was "Blake's" Hotel. I'm getting waaaay to familiar with Greymouth now
Open unused land with blackberry? Not a problem when you wearing tramping boots and gaiters. Easy find - so easy in fact, as the cachebox was visible from 10m away. Maybe you ought to camo paint it?? Took 2 TBs on a journey eastward. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1188)
Good cache. It DEFINITLY needs camoflaguing because if ANYONE walked into that swamp/field they would see it very clearly. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

Some questions: Why here? Who is Blake? TB Hotel? More like a prison? I waded in and extracted myself without any injuries, but wasn't prepared to stick my hands into all the undergrowth. I needed my hands to find a lot more caches today. Maybe next time when the easy ones have all gone.
Saw TB 449723 in there with some great pics of pets. Received some scratches on my legs, but blackberries were worth it. Left tuit RtCeE9.
Only had a couple of minutes to find this one whilst all the others headed off to another cache after the Gathering. A quick dash and I'd found it. Cheers Gav [1857]
Just time for a quick search before heading off after the caching event today. Discovered large TB but TNLN.
Found again and put travel dogs in, haven't found another one big enough to put them in so thought we would put them back for someone else to move on
2002. Blake, this is a good cache and has plenty of room for TBs but at the moment it is being revisited by young cachers who are not caring for it very well. We found it with the handle broken and the cache abandoned out in the open. There are no TBs in the cache at the moment and we didn't like to leave any as it is obviously being watched by some people who are then not being very sensible in the way they treat it. We were sad to see this and maybe you and your Dad will be able to find out who these people are and teach them how to replace and rehide the cache properly so that it stays in good condition.
Thanks for taking the time to set out a good cache

went to this one again to have a look and the handell was brokan on the lunch box so needs maintenance.
Marched into the long, long, seed headed grass, which we were pleased to see was now dry after last night's rain.
Easy cache find. And a larger one! Managed to squeeze three TBs into cache.

[Easy first find for the year for us.] the worn track is a bit of a give-away

Spot where GPS told us it would be didn't look right. Red Gypsy looked around and told me where she would have hidden it and lo and behold, there it was. Number 6 for the day.
Found it at 07.50 hrs after wading through high wet grass with morningdew.Nice spot in the sun. Local kids also discovered the cache and they wrote on many pages in the logbook and took the goodies. Recommend another hidingspot.

Wet feet indeed, would have been even wetter without the help of the tracks in the grass, and a six year old found this one.

Yes it is soggy underfoot here. Even when you're not standings in a puddle, it is still squelchy. +Roses Geocoin, + TMNTurtle. -Bouncey Ball, -Ckayak geocoin-although it is not logged as dropped off yet. Seems we have been playing swaps with Buzztasman this weekend.
This cache was 189 metres from out Motel so we got it before breakfast. Although its pretty soggy there. The cache was only 1 inch above the water level. We took the Gonzo TB and left a ckayaks TB which seems to have an alternative tracking system.
Whilst Mrs BaldEd went buying plants next door, I managed to keep my feet dry whilst walking to the cache in my hiking boots. - Kiwi of the last cache TB. T4TC.
Luckily I decided some time ago that gumboots are mandatory when on the West Coast so was well prepared for this one.
+ Gonzo TB who has had a remarkable journey so far and wants to include a bit of a tour of the mainland.

I'd managed to keep my feet dry until the I bent down to get the cache and ker-sploosh. No scratches luckily, number 19 for the day and time to go to have a shower! TNLN Thanks.
Path of least resistance it was, at least on the way to the cache. Lost it on the way out in the dark and got a bit scratched. Thanks.
Nice One!!!!!!!!Easy find to start a new days caching. Grass was bit damp, otherwise no problems. Hope I don't ever have to return to the area other than for caching. -Simpson + Key Chain Thanks
Not were I thought it would be still a easy find just followed the path made by others and had a few yummy blackberries on the way

Our first find for February! There was a nice aroma of wild mint near the cache which Mr Ninox enjoyed immensely while Ms Ninox wrote in the log book!

FTF - Easy find. At the time we had no travel bugs so left it as is. I'm sure some deposits will be made down the track. TNLN Cheers
Deliberately waited until after someone else had found this one before getting it off my near list.
