02-Jul-10
This cach has been muggled.

29-Jun-10
Had a good old search at GZ but no smilie for us here today.

15-Jun-10
Found the memorial, but could not find the cache. Looked and looked. A few muggles appeared from time to time so did something else so as not to alert them to my true intentions. Very frustrating. Will go back when I am that way again and see if I can find it this time.

05-Jun-10
Had a reasonable search, but lots of people were about, so we gave up without finding it.

09-May-10
So we can see it from the car (we are only parked 2 metres away to disguise our efforts from the busy carpark)...but there are two young boys playing on the rock..the young one kindly announces he needs to go to the toilet...he start to drop his pants as he walks towards the cache...fortunately his older brother sends him up the back of the rock...to watch he then declares he peed his pants....we got more than we bargained for but at least the cache is dry....

17-Apr-10
Went passed the new erection for the Wahine and continued down the line to the rock TFTC TNLN

Showing friends around the area and took the chance to see the latest memorial. TNLN TFTC

14-Feb-10
Had to look close.

31-Jan-10
31/01/2010 11:06 Found: What a difference a day can make - Yesterday the temps were in the high twenties, with brilliant sunshine. Today a Southerly has kicked in and the temp is down to 14 with rain. Lovely!

Found this one without too many issues. Was able to park about 3m from GZ, which made it easy to grab without getting too wet.

Thanks for the cache, foxnsox Smile

09-Jan-10
Great spot for a cache with the history of the area. TFTC!

09-Jan-10
nice hide, easy to find, TFTC

07-Jan-10
great cache

06-Jan-10
Easy find TFTC

05-Jan-10
What a wonderful memorial. I found a Travel Bug and have replaced it with the Travel Bug I found the other day.

05-Jan-10
I found this one Very Happy

05-Jan-10
[190] An afternoon at Days Bay meant a drive further down the coast (to cache!) was in order - Found OK even though the site was swarming with muggles on bikes Smile T4TC!

A wonderful find at the end of an excellent day. We took fish and chips to eat at the beach, then wandered over and retrieved my first ever travel bug which I will log and move on. Great location on a beautiful day (which it was). Thanks for enabling this awesome experience.

31-Dec-09
Got there 01 Jan 10 but 2010 won't come up as a date so we'll log it as the last visit of 2009. Dropped off PCQ22R Geocoin, took nothing. 10 second find- really easy.

31-Dec-09
Easy find. First find for 2010. Took Travel Coin PCQ22R. Very windy day. Think we saw ice_cream before us. He was wearing a long over-coat - looking very dodgy. TFTC.

30-Dec-09
A quick find, at the end of the road. Enjoyable drive here.
Left Ducky TB and picked up two travellers. A great spot for a cache, thanks. Much calmer (just) than I recall on Wahine Day!

28-Dec-09
Found on a road trip to Wellington from Auckland.

TFTC

21-Dec-09
Tok Stephen cousin and her two children for a walk along the coast and picked this one along the way.

21-Dec-09
Nice drive today for a quick find at the end of the road. I was not out with the intent to geocache but when I saw the rock I took a bet with myself that there is a cache nearby - checked the iPhone application and lost the bet. TFTC

13-Dec-09
This was a good cache to start my 30 km walk along the coast (with six cache possibilities) on a positive note. TFTC.

04-Dec-09
A nice hide, and thank you for bringing us here. Left Aussie geo coin.

26-Nov-09
Found as part of my three week caching trip from Wellington to Auckland - # 173. Easy find at a poignant spot. Thanks.

08-Nov-09
Yes, the role this coast played in the events of the Wahine storm are often forgotten. I was pre-school at the time, but we were one of the few families in our neighbourhood to have a car (a benefit of being immigrants in the 60's with all the controls on foreign exchange and difficulty in buying vehicles locally), so my mum spent most of the morning trying to collect all the neighbourhood kids from school. Dad spent most of the day stuck on the unit (train) because the power went off. A chap at work was a uni student living in Seatoun at the time, so he spent his day helping people ashore at Seatoun - the lucky ones.

A beautiful day out this way today, and a great bike ride for the family.
TFTC.

07-Nov-09
This is a lovely cache, with a good hint. There were lots of muggles around having picnic dinners, but they were all too busy looking at the view to notice us, althought we did pretend to take photos at one stage when a muggle walked past. Left a pink crayon, took travel bug #430149.

07-Nov-09
Last find for the day. Found quite quickly. I remember that day well - our house lost its roof in the storm. SL TN left TB TFTC

07-Nov-09
Found with tmann421 and Hugo the dog. Quick find. I was only 4 or 5 when he Wahine went down - we lived in the Wairarapa and the storm was so bad that the chimney blew off. I can remember years (I think it was years) later going to a cousin's in Seatoun and still being able to see part of the ship above the surface of the sea. SL, TNLN, TFTC.

25-Sep-09
Pleasant stroll back from GC5970 with Diziet Sma, rummaged for the cache while birds twitter and waves foam. Not a muggle in sight, peaceful, calm evening. Took a blue jandal, left a ticket for the half moon bay ferry in Auckland.

19-Sep-09
Had a good look around as per the clue, but couldn't find it. Hampered by sticky beaks

14-Sep-09
Better visit today. Only an electrician servicing inside the nearby hut. On Sunday the area had too many people of all ages milling around. Found the cache safe and sound. Marbles, and other small things inside the GREEN click box.

13-Sep-09
13/9/09 @ 1526 - TFTC

10-Sep-09
Nice easy one today with hardly anyone around on a weekday. Fairly quick find after looking in another couple of spots first. TNLNSL, thanks foxnsox.

09-Sep-09
Came here twice on weekends but this spot was muggle capital of NZ. Between the bike hire staffers who seemed to be on watch duty and muggles getting back to their cars just metres away from GZ, we gave up and came back here on 09-09-09. Not a person in sight, a stark contrast to the weekend activity. Thanks foxnsox.

15-Aug-09
Avoided the muggles - needed to use cunning! Young team member useful in providing diversion activity

03-Aug-09
Nick and Andrea's first find. Great fun, just a quick walk down the road, TNLN

15-Jul-09
TFTC! Nice memorial

20-Jun-09
Visiting Wellington after a 30 year absence. Now living in Montana, USA. I too remember the Wahine Storm sheltering in our house as roofing iron and debris went flying down the street. My Dad, now passed away helped with the search and rescue efforts on the coast as survivors and the not so lucky were coming ashore on that fateful day. TN, Left a US quarter. Not too many muggles about on this blustery winter day. TFTC

19-May-09
Amazing to think that the "Wahine" disaster was 41 years ago! TFTC

12-Apr-09
Way too many people on foot, in cars and mostly on bikes to even think of attempting this cache today. Great place though on a superb day. Interesting memorial too.

12-Apr-09
A quick find at the start of a walk to Pencarrow Head on a perfect Wellington day, with Mrs agcnz keeping a watch-out for people behind the parked cars while I retrieved and opened the cache. Haven't been down here for many years, it was certainly popular today with bikes everywhere. Signed log, TFTC and for showing me another interesing historical record that I hadn't visited before.

03-Apr-09
I well remember the day of the big storm. I was in Ch-ch at the time, weather there not bad, but there were lots of radio reports of the Wahine's plight. A time to remember the victims, and the heroes, then a quick find, while other members of the tramping team were on the Butterfly Creek walk, before we went to Somes Is for the night. Get there if you can, it's very interesting, with great 360deg views of the whole harbour from the trig. TNLN. thanks for the cache.

20-Mar-09
I spent more waiting for the muggles to clear than looking for the cache.

09-Oct-08
Returned before work after a failed attempt months ago. Its a lot easier when you decrypt the clue correctly! Took a minute. -USA geocoin. TFTC

08-Oct-08

First move, Strategic parking of car. Second move, open car doors. Bingo!! A quick find and that little kid at the bike shed saw nothing!! TFTC. Nice spot.

10-Aug-08
Found with Scoop81 just before dusk. Patience was the name of the game here as multiple muggles arriving and departing made this a test of perseverance. Tremichlan found surreptiously, and Scoop81 inconspicuously returned. TFTC

10-Aug-08
Muggles muggles everywhere, but we got there in the end!

03-Aug-08

didn't read the description completely and ended up at the wrong wahine rock( the one near the air port) then I went down he road further and was trying to figure out why the gps was pointing to the rocks in the harbor, came home and reread the description and kicked myself
