Staying in the hotel for the night, wonderful to see a couple so close and it was nice and quiet and an easy find, thanks.
Quick scout about and cache was in hand and logged with granville86a, TFTC wallaceDUO
Found with Chosen1978 on weekend trip through Central into bitsprayer country. Having come from Invercargill where the Surveyor J Turnball Thompson spent a great deal of time, great to see another memorial to the man.
Did the obligatory photos at GZ before grabbing the cache. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Took a few minutes to investigate the possible hiding places before finding it in the actual hiding place. Good place for a cache! Found with debsnz
Find no. 19 on (or near) the rail trail. Found on early morning walk before heading off on last leg of trail. #218. TFTC.
Found on our fourth day while taking on the Otago Rail Trail with the Green Team. Assistance by the caching partners, GPYesss, Brontysaurus, MrPills and Jacko. Fastest 12 kms of the trip do far! TFTC.
Had a wander around Ranfurly to find some caches and look in the local shops! Lovely spot!
Nicely done and an interesting place for us as we had not heard of this bloke. Thanks wallaceDuo.
This guy sure got around - his names are everywhere! A great site for a cache wallaceDuo - I am giving this a favourite point.
Muggled while we were filming the rail trail. TFTC from the bare kiwi film crew
A really nice hide.
Although I was here at Noonish the area was quiet as.
Lots of Bikies around, still it's a good weekend run from Dunners, so makes sense.
Have a Fav tick.

After the terrible rain last night we awoke this morning to sunshine, blue sky and snow on the mountains. Beautiful. We strolled out from the campsite to find the cache and have a potter around Ranfurlt. T4TC
Took the survey, completed, but again it seems that we didn't manage to the the prize for participating (except for the tick!). Kia ora for the cache wallaceDuo.
Found on our trip to New Zealand crossing the southern island.
Today from Duneden to Patearoa (Ranfurly) to spend a few days with some locals.

I really like caches where you learn something. Thanks for bringing us here as we strolled about town after riding in on the rail. TFTC
Found this neat cache during the 2012 Mega Event. Apologize to the CO for the late log but issue's have had us put some things on hold for a while.
Many Thanks for the neat cache.

Found as part of an epic NZ Mega Event trip. Day 6 - Dunedin to Oamaru via Ranfurly and Dansey's Pass with agcnz, -gonefishing- and Yeetrees. Thanks to the owners of the 500 + caches which I had the pleasure to find along the way and which contributed to a very fun trip.

Found on the great post-Mega roadtrip with agcnz, fozzmiester and yeetrees. A great trip from Otago to Wellington, taking in many backroads and some fantastic scenery along to way to over 400 caches. Thanks to all the cache owners for the great caches we found on the way.
Thanks for the cache, wallaceDuo.

An easy find. An alt country group (complete with fiddler) were rehearsing in the nearby house as I read about the good surveyor.

What a cool spot for a cache.

I visited your cache as part of a week-long self indulgent Geocaching trip from Nelson to Bluff and back again. I apologise for not leaving a completely personalised log, but I do want to thank you for the time, money and effort you put into placing your caches. Without people like you who place caches, there would be nothing for the rest of us to come and find. You are fantastic

How could I say no to a survey? I love doing them! And this one was a breeze once the photo taking muggle left the area. TFTC
Found on a sunny afternoon on our way to Naseby with some other Motor home muggles

Took part in the survey while waiting for luch. Mmm Nachos. Thanks for the stop.
Out for dinner in the small town at the end of long day on the Rail Trail with Gaines'em
Spent a night at nearby backpackers during cycle tour. Couldn't resist finding the cache.
After coffee and cake at a nearby Cafe, this one was next on the list.
I enjoyed reading the information on the signs at the gz. I had read a bit about this John Turnbull Thomson previously on my Ride.
Cache was hidden away nicely, and it took me a bit to find it.
Thanks for the cache, wallaceDuo

we had actually turned our gps off for the day, but had special interest in this so stopped. Decided there may be a cache as bonus, so turned gps on, and bingo. We ignored another cache just a couple hundred metres away ! Signed log, left nothing, took photos.thanks
One of many caches we did on our 3 day bike tour on the Otago Rail Trail. Today the weather was dry but cloudy. Thnaks for making it such a varied trip with all the caches.
Great spot, so much information. Was a dreadful day, overcast and drizzly not to mention cold, so muggle activity was minimal. Snuck in and signed the log, TNLN. TFTC!
Read up on this guy for one of Moneydorks caches. Quick find by Guwapo after stopping for lunch in Ranfurly. Salamat!
But why did he retire to Invercargill of all places?Have completed a multi a few years ago in invercargill that leads about places related.
@1826 I came, I surveyed, I found and then went off to survey the site of another placement in the village. It needed a good look around, torch in hand, but pretty easily found in the finish. Signed the log and rehid carefully.
Thanks wallaceDuo,
Jim

An interesting landmark capturing a way of life that has long past, but made this place what it is today. TFTC
Easy cache on a cool day that kept the muggle count down. TFTC -still in good condition.
Arriving in to Naseby and we were looking for a fuel stop before going though Dansey Pass, BUT to our astonishment the nearest Petrol Station was at Ranfurly, so a quick detour was called for. After filling up with gas, we decided that we had better find a cache in this lovely town before moving on. Having tried the one across the road from the petrol station with no success GC1JDAA Grandad Georgies Gun - then we went to find this cache. Arriving at GZ and started taking part in a survey we were pleasant surprised to be presented with an opportunity to find a cache. Found quickly without any issues, time to carry on, on our way north, thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot, TFTC TNLNSL (3079)
Nice find. The art deco building nearby has some very interesting reading about the subject of this statue. Well worth looking at.
8 / 10 while on the rail trail. TFTC - needs a new bag...didn't have my kit today sorry.
As I didn't recognise at the moment of the find this was #400 for me. Spend some moments with that guy there looking at or for something.
Riding the Otago rail trail and grabbed some caches before having lunch, quick find TFTC
Was just about to leave town boys were allowed more play time on Grandpa's gun so I asked if I had enough time to grab one more cache. The reply was only if it were close enough and yes it was. As I used to visit Ranfurly plenty when I was younger I have kept an eye on what caches are here and thought your cache name was strange. It all makes sence now. Very nicely set out location. Took geocoin to continue it's travels.
