When we knew we were going to visit Tassie this cache came up on our radar and we contacted the CO and gained permission to log the cache .
Thank you
Thank you
Logging with permission from the CO I had a list of caches that I was hoping to find on this trip, this one made the top of that list. The munchkins and myself had just enjoyed a spot of breakfast after disembarking the mighty Spirit of Tasmania. What better place to do so! Once our meal was over we wandered around the area taking a few photos and collecting the information for the Earthcache. Such a beautiful and interesting location.
Thanks for the Earthcache Tealby

After receiving a very abusive email from a new cacher who failed to comply with the EarthCache listing, I have decided to archive this cache to avoid any repeat performance - I'm afraid that I am not prepared to monitor compliance with the EarthCache logging requirements if I risk receiving such abuse when I delete a log as I am obliged to do so.
I trust that all cachers who have been to this picturesque spot have enjoyed themselves - there are other physical caches nearby for future visitors to enjoy (including a great multi).

Our first Earth cache. We've sent the email and hope our answers are right. We were a party of three, the two members of sharnie's tribe and a geogranny passenger. Photo of the lighthouse attached. TFTC
Late in the day after flight from Melbourne. Great location which brought back memories from Uni camping trips 30+ years ago. TFTC
Having had a lucky break in the rain at the nearby previous cache, the weather seemed to be making up for the lost time while we were gathering the information for the Earth Cache. We would have loved to have a longer walk in the area, exporing more petroglyphs and views, but it was rather uncomfortable. We'll be back one day!

Found it while on a trip up North, there were 4 in party. Did a couple of other caches while in the area. Great spot.
Found on a lovely sunny afternoon. There were 3 of us in the group. It is fascinating to find petroglyphs in the rock. I wonder how long it took to form them. Thanks for the geology lesson.
Was looking for another cache and stumbled across this one as I had read about it on the Geocaching web page.
We had visited this site before, but were unaware of the petroglyphs, so took some time to have a good look.
A clear day also made for fantastic views.
e-mail with questions forwarded.

A very busy location today with lots of muggles checking the area out. Emailed answers and will upload photo shortly.
Found with Bedmaker on a trip to the area.
Interesting spot. It was a beautiful day when we visited so we had a nice look around the area and stopped for lunch overlooking the water.
Found the answers and have emailed these to the owner.
Thanks Tealby for bringing us to such a beautiful spot and sharing some of its history.

Visited here today with TassieGirl13 and on a beautiful clear day too.
We had views for as far as we could see.
A really top spot. While we where wandering around we also came across other petroglyphs as well.
After doing some other nearby caches and then found a picnic table and enjoyed lunch here.

What a nice place to visit and learn something new. Answers emailed, photo attached of Mrs M, Mr M and teen M. TFTC Merry Christmas.
We enjoyed our visit to the area - it was a busy spot here today, but for an earth cache - it doesn't matter!. I have emailed the answers to the questions to the owner and will upload a photo when I get home.

694 - We visited this wonderful historic location this morning as we headed west towards Stanley. We made the find at about 11:03am and answered the questions as required and learned a lot about petroglyphs (I had no idea they were called this). Thanks for pointing out this great place Tealby. There were just two in our party, Brissy Guy and Brissy Guy Junior both pictured with the Mersey Bluff Lighthouse in the background. Email sent to the cache owner with our answers as required.
Muggles everywhere - but for an earth cache, who cares?
Did the required Q and A, took the obligatory photo, and all submitted as needed.
We both do love these earth caches - and actually learn something!
The view from marker 9 was problematical as a sea-mist came in and reduced the vis to about 30 metres. And at 16:00 too! You can tell the mist was thick - I couldn't see the top of the lighthouse in the camera screen Duh!

Nice spot to visit on our last day in Tassie whilst waiting for the ferry.

#714 10.00am on our Tassie Caching Adventure with DazzPete. Have emailed owner with the answers - hopefully all is OK (was going to wait for response but I keep getting mucked up with the numbers ). What a great area with nice views and interesting petroglyphs. We were looking to visit the Tiagarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre however it was closed whilst we were there for refurbishments.
Our thanks to Tealby for highlighting this area - we love the Earth Caches as it assists those who didn't pay attention in school (Dad) or those who have forgotten everything learnt in Geography (Queen) [^]

Great day in which to visit this lovely location. Greatly enjoyed the walks around the point. Thanks for bringing us to this location
Have emailed answers, hope they are correct. There were 3 of us in our group - Mr, Mrs and Miss matmob! This is a lovely area, and this was a perfect cache to end our Tasmanian holiday. We love Earthcaches - you get to learn so much. Thanks for bringing us here and showing us this ancient history.
Found it this morning with Mrs Iamapom (this log submitted from The Spirit of Tasmania in the middle of Bass Straight). Email will be sent to the owner shortly.
Loved the Aboriginal artwork - just sitting out there in the open. They could certainly pick a stunning location. Loved it. TFTC

Found the "cache" just over from the Mersey Bluff Lighthouse at 0800hrs this morning. Long time since I'd been to this area; so thanks for taking me back. Cheers and TFTC; OldSaint.
Been coming to this area since I was a kid and still love it. This was a great earth cache and I enjoyed it heaps. There was just me and heazle1 doing this one while we were in the area finding some other caches. I will email the answers asap. Thanks Tealby
1259 Found by baby&Mrs gopher and have permission to log the cache. After leaving the ship and wharf behind to start our travels in Tasmania this was a great way to wake up to the morning at 0630.It is surprising what is there when you have the information pointed out to see.Tnx Tealby

Visited on the first day of my visit to my muggle sister. It was great to take her to a place she didn't know about in her own backyard (Well she's a little further along the coast in Penguin) Sadly the Aboriginal centre is closed "Until further Notice" Still, a most interesting area. A bit far from home for me, but sis says she will definitely be back.
Answers emailed, but photo will have to wait till after my holiday as I don't have a means of processing them from here.

Popped in here at night, but managed to find all the information. No problem with muggles, but also didn't get to enjoy the view. Cheers Gav [6004]
Its a beaut area that one should make an effort to visit on a regular basis. Thanks
great location...... on a bright, calm, sunny early morning here, like today, its idealic though winter may be a totally different experience.... enjoyed the cache for the education and visual feast... when you think of Tasmania you often think of the history starting with the Transporting of convicts, the cache highlights that human activity goes back way further than that....... logging in the hope of correct answers.
cheers 4 da cache Tealby!

After eating fish n chips on the bluff (and not sharing with the seagulls) quickly did this one. My first EarthCache and although I have wandered around here many times, haven't taken a lot of notice of the petroglyphs. So much history here. Thanks for the cache.
Aaaah, the Mersey Bluff Lighthouse! I always walk there as soon as I arrive in beautiful Tassie (here for the fourth time).
Especially beautiful when the sun sets!
Thanks for the cache!

Found after farewelling daughter to mainland. Another good Taswegian leaves the state. Picture of Mersey Bluss Light sent. Jan and graham both present.
Overnighted in Devonport and managed to clean up a few caches this morning before heading out to claim this one. This was our 3rd day in Tassie and the first time we have seen the sun. But hey, you get that I guess............
Gather all the required info (I hope) and will no doubt forward an e-mail in a few days. Required photo's attached.
So, today was Mersey...........and tomorrow will be The Nut.
Thanks Tealby....good fun as usual.

Working in Tasmania for the week, so I just had to come and get this earth cache. I wish the weather would have been a little nicer so I could have enjoyed the area more, but none the less, thanks for placing this cache. I got some great pictures to take home to the family.

Love Earth Caches and what a great spot, although it was dam cold and windy for 2 visitors from Darwin. We are used to slightly warmer weather.
Found today with dean_erwin and my 5 year old. A great cache! Hope we get the answers right
Am logging this in anticipation of having the correct answers. Unable to download photo at this stage. 2 of us found this cache and enjoyed checking out other petroglyphs in the area.
17:40 Found on our Touring Tassie and Beyond 2009 Trip!
With the light quickly fading and a ferry to catch, our time for Tassie caches was running out. We have had a great time in Tassie, and seen so much, we really loved the place. What better way than to top it off with an earth cache!
A collected the answers whilst M checked out the answers for the nearby multi. Funnily enough all the cars in the car park were SA plated cars

This has been educational. I think I'd seen that petroglyph before, but never thought about what it was. I visit this area every time I'm in Devonport; it's a favourite of many. Thanks for giving me a new experience this time round.
Oooh! A geological cache with a bit of human history thrown in
I wandered the heights of Mersey Bluff this morning delighting in the rugged coastal scenery and lollypop of a lighthouse that adorns the summit
I spotted several petroglyphs too.
The earth around here is pretty young compared to the stuff I studied back in Adelaide in my uni days
TFTC and tour.
PS: Yes there was just I.

Found in the company of Virga13. Gryff's Pack consisted of thistlecat, Major Ursa and Gusto - the other members at this point had departed on an emergency toilet hunting expedition!
The day was amazingly hot for this area - temps in the high 20s which is almost unheard of - so we located the petroglyph, took the photos, gathered up the remaining pack members and headed home to lie low!

My 1st Earthcache. GeoJen & I visit Tasmania regurlarly but if it hadn't been for this cache I probably would not have been aware of these Petroglyphs.
Who said that Geocaching was not educational?
There were 4 people in our group. Thistlecat and some of Gryff's Pack
and myself.

I do enjoy these Earth caches and made this a priority to visit as I came through Devonport today. I was very interested to read the history of the area and learn a little bit about coastal geology of northern Tassie, it is very rich in diversity and much can be learnt from visits to various points of interest.
Thanks for the confirmation Tealby, you've done well under the circumstances to find my email amongst the many in your inbox .

Staying at the nearby campsite at the Mersey Bluff, we had an early morning walk in the pooring rain, hoping that the weather would be better, but unfortunately it lasted till late in the morning. Due to the rain we couldn't explore the area properly as we'd like to do. Thanks for showing this place to the both of us.
Very nice & interesting place. It's a pity that I was running out of time and couldn't explore it properly. Three groups of schoolchildren/scouts visited the spot when I hung around there. The photo will follow in late January when I'll get back home and can upload it.
With Red Tag the 2 of us went up to the Bluff after another cache. This made the walk around the Bluff quite interesting. Thanks Tealby
Hadn't been to this area for quite a while. Mrs H and Hingpebble enjoyed the walk around.
Thanks Tealby

Whilst at the nearby event, I dashed up (sprinting between the swooping plovers) and got to the spot. Found it interesting. Took a photo, but I'm not sure if it would give the location away. Thanks Tealby.
2008-06-07 17:13 Interesting area that we have visited before. Having a cache here provides another reason for a return visit. Thanks Tealby, email to follow.
Came by with ECad and SCad (who took the photo). Thanks for getting us somewhere we were unlikely to find otherwise, at about 1010.

I love Tasmania, and this is certainly a beautiful location to explore.
Thanks to Tealby for this great earth cache and bringing me to this stunning location.

Did this earthcache as part of a few caches around Bluff area, after kids soccer across the road and a BBQ lunch. Its taken us a while to start doing the caches in our own 'backyard'. Our kids like doing these earthcaches. Thanks Tealby.
Log date 22/9/10.
In the company of Team Crackers and maccamob we stopped off for this Earthcache and gathered the evidence.
I took many photos to be sure if needed to confirm answers, but thankfully Shelby wrote everything down which I only located
this morning.
Many thanks to Tealby for the lesson, which taught me many things I didn't know.

here is my generic log which I am using to bring around 300 finds up to date:
22/9/10 OK I am guilty of not logging caches over the last year or two. Due to 2 operations and rehab it has made it difficult to log caches even though I have been mostly chair bound sitting for short times has been difficult as well.
What I have done is create this log in an attempt to bring our found and DNF’s up to date so I can resume my normal habit of stories rather than a TNLN – TFTC.
Most of these logs will not include the owners team name so I think it is appropriate to say a Big Thank the cache owners for their caches and some wonderful memories of caching adventures.
Also thanks to Team Crackers who have made our caching trips so much fun and their help in working out what caches we did and when.
Regards
Mr.Coffee and the “I promise I wont let this happen again after all these coffee’s er I mean caches are drunk er I mean logged” Coffee Clan.

We stopped here on our way to catch the ferry home with Mr Coffee and the Coffee Clan, total of four people. The information on the cache page made this a great place to visit, even with limited geology knowledge we were able to understand a lot more about the area. We found the required petroglyph and gathered the information required then sadly headed for the boat.
Thanks Tealby for the cache and permission to log.

Found by Mary & David at 1400. An interesting geology lesson, some nearby history, and wonderful views. A great cache to do as our visit to Tasmania draws to a close. Our thanks to Tealby for the information.
Found it on a dark and stormy night. I've been looking forward to this one as although I've been to the Bluff many times, I've never checked out the petroglyphs! They show up really well with your torch shining at an angle. I visited the next morning when I had a moment as well for yet another photo of the lighthouse.
Thank you for the cache.

Found while waiting to board the ferry to the mainland. A nice area to pass the time with. TFTC
Love this area. So much history (old Devonport Cemetery, Tiagarra, Lighthouse, Geology). Pity the hoons felt it necessary to carve their own 'tags' into the nearby rocks.
2nd earth cache and all in the one day..thank you for the information and for bringing us both to this spot..quite windy today, but not raining and visited the cultural centre
Found this on my lonesome early Sunday morning on the first day of daylight savings in Tas.
Many thanks Tealby.
Many thanks Tealby.
Two wibbles braved the cold, icy winds at sunset to find this cache. Interesting area, we would not have realised the petroglyphs were here otherwise.
Found by edmil & maddie. This was the first of 9 days of Tassie exploration. This cache was amongst the first few we managed when we got off the Ferry. For our 9 days on the isle we were rained on, hailed on, snowed on and blown from pillar to post. Ah the joys of Tassie We are led to believe.
Answers to questions sent hoping for a positive reply. Thanks for bringing us to this spot and providing us with some detail.

This place is just so magical and at 7am, minutes after my boat docked I made my way up here. I didn't even know the petroglyphs existed but thanks to this earth cache I learned a lot besides. Answers confirmed by Tealby and I was alone hence my photo is just of the lighthouse in the morning light. Thanks Tealby for setting this one up.
Well at 7am on a rainy winter morning, it is a bit hard to take photos, but there was enough light to get the information to claim this earthcache, my third total, and second in Tasmania. It is a pity that all 2 in Tasmania are owned by a North Island resident, so I'll have to rectify that. Many thanks Tealby for the oportunity.
Found 200705081354 . For a while today it seemed that all geocaching roads lead to Mersey Bluff . The Earthcache requirements fulfilled and geological features observed, I had a great time finding the other caches in the vicinity (and getting up close and personal with a few rocks )
Cheers Tealby

Nice tour and nice view! Thanks! The weather was sunny and try on my tour to this cache. A Photo will follow soon.
You learn something every day dont you. This whole area just gets better all the time. Just me looking this time partner in melb.Excellent cache.
Decided to do some caches close to the ferry terminal befor departing for North Island, did the earth cache at Stanley earlier in the week. Was most interested in the Petroglyphs and geological information. Beautiful day to be up here, thanks Tealby for bringing us to this spot. Ohbeeone and princess.
Great spot, particularly on a day when seas are playing up. Very enjoyable walk all round the bluff. Will log photo when I can wrest the computer from geospouse for long enough.
