Will be returning to find the true Peppermint Gum Cache.

Was looking for a nearby multi cache and found this one. Had searched for this one some time ago without reward so was quite surprised to find it today. Debated about whether to leave the cache there or not, but decided to, and to log a find so the owner knows it is still there. From memory it is in the place where we were searching last time.
Was told by Gum-Ako that this was still here so set out to find it and there it was.
Was out caching today and a friend said there was another cache near by so we had a hunt around and sure enough there it was, snug as a cache in a hole, deep but still there, so I logged in the book, returned it to its hidding place and went and collected the other one near by.TFTC
After much consideration I’ve decided to let this cache go through to the big keeper in the sky The decision was hard as I had a soft spot for this cache and I quite liked the cache description and the park. The watchers don’t seem to be the problem but perhaps another group of individuals and their quest to find hidey spots for their stashes[|)] I don’t want to put the cache back in a lame place (as I like the well thought out hides rather than those caches just chucked in a bush) and I’m out of ideas for a clever long lasting hide here[xx(]
I miss the rock that originally hid the cache and I still wonder where it went[?]
Many thanks to all who dared to dream by attempting Mt Vinson, especially those who wrote their web logs along its theme Best cache log has to go to Alex on August 18.
Good Hunting everyone.

High above the tundra line the katabatic winds blow strong and the perilous journey takes its toll on those who seek it. It seems that the cache has been lost to the endless drifts which cover this icy peak[xx(][xx(][xx(]
I did find one of the cache log pages on the ground where someone has written that "we're keeping this thing"
As Hiker Mike is out hiking, I'll see what I can do to put it back in another location close by on his behalf.

Four of us had a real good look for this since the park was deserted, but DNF .
Read the clue and the logs, but still could not find it.
We'll wait till it is confirmed as still being there, then come back and look again [|)].
Cool park for all ages .

Great one for the kids. Left TBG NOOB Cachers March 2007 to continue its travels.
A nice easy early morning grab before kids etc descended on this place. TNLN thanks.
Found with grandma to show her what a cache was like. Found the cache, travel bug and some glasses as well. took the TB and left a bracelet. TFTC
Found in between "bunny hopping escort" for bro-in-law's walk to work. TNLNSL Thanks for the cache.

Found at 19:30. Easy enough find. The dog loves slippery dips (well, she goes down them voluntarily), but we found broken glass at the bottom. Thanks Nomad_penguin.
Hiker Mike and I checked this one on the way out to the scrub for the weekend. Fortunately the cache is still there but at the other end of the log.

Two attempts at this Cache the first I didn’t read the clue then came home for the glue second attempted still couldn’t find the cache its either lost stolen or totally invisible, GEO thieves are everywhere - however did find a bottle of tawny Port very well hidden in a paper bag with a sip missing I would say it was some kids left there to drink after school or something like that, after putting the bottle back untouched I left dishearten on my second cache in Aussie. Please if its still there can someone Log it so I can try again..
Scaled the mountain intrepidly in high heels and wet weather (not a good combination). The view from the top was breath taking to say the least. Took spoon left compass keyring. TFTC.
Nice part of the park. Found it in about 3 minutes.
Took a toy lizard and toy pistol. Left a super hero and matchbox car.
We have been to that park with the kids 3 or 4 times prior to today but never knew there was a cache there.
Good location. Look forward to the next park visit.

"I'm just going out for a cache, I may be some time." So saying I left the relative security of my shelter and headed out into the teeth of the howling blizzard to conquer Mount Vinson. The nearby flock of penguins watched my tortuous progress with vacant, cold stares as I scrambled across the sastrugi in a momentous struggle to achieve my goal against the biting, bone-chilling blast of the Antarctic wind. The hoar-frost was congealing in my beard as I crested the summit and my spirits lifted as the thin, weak rays of the polar sun broke through the turbulent, twisted clouds to guide me to my prize. Alas, there in the distance, I spied the black flag stark against the icy snow that told me I was not the first however I drove myself on against the elements because I know that any who strive deserve to suceed. As my frost-bitten fingers struggled to grasp the pencil I wrote my epitath for those who come after me to read and ponder my fate. There was nothing there to aid my survival so I turned and commenced my sad and lonely journey from this hell-hole of ice and snow, perhaps I will survive the descent, perhaps not....
Staggered up the mountain the hard way, descended the quick way! Actually it wasn't real quick - too much moisture on the surface! This was great fun in the dark! Geokid loved the flying fox - wouldn't go on it at first, and of course after one go wanted several more! What a fantastic little suburban park, will have to come back some day in the daylight. TFTC, TNLN

I got there in the end, nice climb, lucky the weather was good, only a little sleet and snow, but alas I conqured it.

Arrive at base camp to a welcoming party who were always present but I don't think they were watching. I've been needing an excuse to visit this park as I understand that this is where my Dad was born. A plaque confirmed that there used to be a private hospital called "The Sanitorium"
Conquered Mt Vinson in the pouring rain. The valleys were enshrouded in fog and the driving sleet howled over the jagged windswept ridges. Protected from the ever-changing elements by all-weather gear, the climbing boots held firmly on the treacherously slippery southern escarpment. Descended the northern face, ever wary of flash-flooding and mudslides. Retrieved cache, swapped a trinket for 'Daisy was Here' TB, all under the eyes of the constantly watchful. Thanks for the cache!
One of two mountains conquered today, the other being made of macaroni. Left Daisy TB, took cards and kingfisher magnet. TFTC
After a failed attempt at the summit a few weeks ago, it was time to return to the scene of my ignomious defeat
No oxygen this time though. After scaling the lofty heights of Mt Vinson yet again I pushed on through the blinding drifts of schnow and retrieved the cache
What is it with the spectators though [:o]
They give me the creeps

A quick find as a matter of fact, even with the nearby watchers still on duty???

Looked twice in correct spot and didn't see it. Girlfriend looked and said "It's here babe!".
Fantastic little park. I go to the servo behind all the time and never knew the park was there. As a celebration of finding our first travel bug we had dinner at KFC.

Okay, it's back. You can again simulate the highs and lows of Antarctic exploration.
The old cache was hidden in a rock but has vanished, rock, cache container and all!

[xx(] Sorry guys. It looks like the cache has been muggled. I suspect it has been removed by the watching eyes. It will be back soon.
I climbed, I looked, I looked some more & I left empty handed. Perhaps I'll return when its not raining!
Cheers.

Hmmm, Climbing the real Mt. Vinson might be easier than finding this cahce [:o]

A big search in the dark with some exciting wildlife encounters. Made it out alive but no cache this time. Will return in daylight for a better hunt.
Mrs MODU let out the FIGJAM pretty quickly on this one, it was however a very tricky little hide. Cheers. MODU.
Looked in as many likely spots as was reasonable. Found some evidence of geocachers with a sense of humour but no cache.
Wow after having my arm up to the armpit in several likely holes eventually found it. All I can say is that mike and friends must have some heavy duty equipment not to mention a warped sense of humor. The creative thought of geocachers never ceases to amaze. The picture is of geodog enjoying a slide.

Decided to escape the heat and get a cache (yes, it is actually colder OUTSIDE of our house than inside at the moment - melted airconditioner and no insulation make Team Wibble something something... ...go crazy? Don't mind if we do!!).
Also went caching as part of Miss Wibble's de-stressing, which was rudely interrupted in the searching for the cache, she nearly had a coronary too!
Found the cache eventually, and TNLNSL. Cool park. We would have gone on the flying fox but it was being used by mini muggles

Like gr8cherokee, I found what I thought was the cache site and had a minor coronary . That’ll keep people on their toes. I WAS going to write a similar note as him, but on reading Hurtle’s input on return to the bat-cave, realised that I had missed it . I’ll have to return.
Incidentally, it’s a nice little park with some great places for both children to play and adults to relax. Would NEVER have known of its existence if not for geocaching.

MMMMMMMM .... I think you had better post a DNF gr8cherokee, as the 'thing' you saw, is NOT the cache. Take it from me, the FTFer, the cache is very easy to access, just hard to find!! I think you found the red herring!!
Even though we did not write in the log, I am claiming this as a find, we could see the cache but could not retrieve it from its hidey hole, it is set to far into the hiding spot, tried for 15 minutes with a stick and skinny arms but alas it was not to be, with the mercury steadiy rising already 38'C at around 11:30 I had had enough.
One concern even though it seems funny after the fact is the guardian of the cache it scared the bejesus out of us, and I would be a bit worried about people with a bad ticker and the effect it may have on young children...

Don't worry Zyth, you still would not have got the ftf as I was here on the way home from work about 0715hrs! Sorry this log was so late in posting(6th), been busy cleaning house for open inspection! I must've been hurrying, if I didn't even sign my name, as there were muggles across the road having breakfast on their porch.
Took a bit to find, but was in a very good hide, depending on how much credit you give the clues!! [:o)]
Left a patch TNSL

Arrived just after lunch to find part of Team Astro and calumphing_four on scene. Still got to claim the find and silver on this. TNLNSL, thanks Stealth Ninja Penguin. Nice to meet a new team as well.
Arrived at lunch and parked in the shade. Before getting out another couple of cars pulled up behind. Thought I'd better watch what they were up to - but then I saw the GPSrs in hand so joined in the hunt too. Nice meeting Richary and part of Team Astro.
Richary bagged the prize, but found FTF was at 7:30am - although unsigned - but we guessed who from the patch that was left.

A few more people here and we could have made it an event cache. All we needed was wine, nibbles and Hurtle’s hotplate!!. [^]
Thanx Stealth Ninja Penguin and clear skies, TeamAstro.
It would have been a FTF at 8am except the downloaded coords did not appear on the GPSr.
Having a ritual of upload into GSAK, export and upload into GPSr this was odd.
I remembered where the cache was anyway and had a good look but without the cords and an entire park to search all I found was a red herring.
After checking the more obvious places I conceded defeat and left, only to be dealt a blow with the drive shaft of the geo-mobile parting company with the engine inside the clutch whilst doing 100km/h on Pt. Wakefield road about 20 minutes later.[xx(]

The rather minor GPSr problem was sorted out tonight when I realised it's memory was full.

The GPS wasn't really much of a help as the signal was jumping all over the place. One moment I was approaching, the next it's 25 metres away.
So it was just down to the hunt. And what can I say, half an hour later there it was, exactly where it had been all along.
Thanks for a fun time on Mt Vinson.
