Today I headed out into the bush for a walk, and to mostly grab this cache. As it happened to be, I was to drive all the way to GZ without any issues, so once at GZ, the cache was soon discovered. It appears that the tree has grown and now wedged the cache into the ground, but fortunately I was able to still get the lid off and sign the log.

Another great cache in an interesting local spot that I bet most of the locals who have lived here all their lives don't know about. Fascinating! Tftc. This is what caching is about!

Australia is a big country Smile
But there are not that many big country trees !!
So I was keen to see what all the bouncing around the various tracks and trails in the geomobile this morning was about Big Grin
Yes!! Once again I did not read the cache notes until I got lost in the forest only 500 metres from GZ Red Face
Oh that trail, I saw a sign for that one about half an hour ago [:o]
Ah well keep driving .... and for once a bit of luck.
I ended up at a junction with a sign that had the right name on it Smile
OK!! Off we go to find a Big countree Razz

Wow!! Not that is impressive [^]
Somebody else must have thought so too and fenced it Smile
More remarkable is that nobody chopped it down many years ago [:o]

I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the forest while searching for the cache.
Secretly hoping that I didn't get clobbered by any falling timber Red Face

TFTC and forest wanderings.
I never did make it to the next cache only a couple of kms away as I took another wrong turn somewhere and ended up almost in Cargo.
But the drive to end up there was very scenic [^]

I love caches that take me to new & interesting places! The fence is interesting, does the tree have special significance, apart from it's substantial size?

Navigating to this cache took a bit more messing around than we expected since we coming in from the north but once the correct track was found this giant of a tree was soon found.
The cache contents had been very wet at some stage and there was a bit of water in the bottom of the container which we cleaned and dried out but sadly some of the swaps are a little worse for wear.

Took nothing left nothing.

We camped the night nearby at Four Mile Creek which was a bit worse for wear after the recent floods but it did for a night. We enjoyed the short drive through the forest to this cache and that's a nice big tree! Mr H remembers the band Big Country very well (showing his age!) and had no idea about Stuart Adamson until clicking on the link on the cache page.
Cheers,

Recognised this place as soon as we arrived. This was where we did a fair bit of motorbike riding way back when we lived in Orange. Never took much notice of the tree back then so it was good to come back with a different adventure in mind.

Have really struggled with bshwckr caches, but this was a relatively easy find. Much like the previous log, the cache was totally exposed so replaced a little more cover to conceal the cache. Thanks bshwckr.

Found while working nearby. Took a little detour to see the tree and stumbled upon a cache to boot! Container was slightly exposed so replaced with a bit more cover. TNLN

Always amazing to see natures beauty - un touched, congrats to State Forest for leaving this specimen. The Grots took noth'n; but left green key tag and green 'push fly' - that's what they called it anyway!

Easily found. Thanks Bshwckr. It's a great old specimen and it's great that someone has taken the time to put the fence around it. TNLN

What a saga. Thought we'd get a FTF in the afternoon. Google Maps led us astray and we got caught in a hail storm. We then, driving through unbelievable rain, headed into the forest. As the fuel level was getting low, (light was on), decided to head home without the cache, only to find the way we were going was blocked by a creek in flood. Turned about, not wanting to miss out on the cache, but seeing the fuel gauge below empty, we past the correct road (how did we not see it on the way there) and decided to go in for it. Found the cache easily and limped back to town. Car has 45l tank, I put 45.5l into it. At least we got the cache. Sorry Routers for not logging it last night, got home too late.
Took Geo Coin.
Left nothing.
TFTC.
