As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

This one looks as if it has gone missing in action!!
Not even in the company of FLIPPER&CO and SkippyandLambchops could we locate this one.

05-Mar-08
No luck with this one early on in the long hot day of caching fun with Foxzami.

05-Mar-08
looked for ages, couldnt find Sad

20-Feb-08
Hooray!!! Found it phew!!! No muggles around at the time... Excellent hide spot... SL. Thanks Rav 4 Raiders for organising the cache and hunt.

10-Feb-08
We looked and looked. Very disappointed.

09-Feb-08
Found at 16:00. A visit this morning was thwarted this morning by a couple of fishermen. I had the place to myself this arvo though.
I remember using this facility when I was a boy.
Thanks.

03-Feb-08
Riding past on the push bike again this morning and the memories of the cache find came flooding back Smile
I still laugh when I think that after searching for 30 minutes without success and trying to avoid the fishing muggles I wandered away to claim a DNF [:o]
That was until like a scene out of Miami Vice an unmarked car sped into the area leaving a trail of dust as it skidded to a halt. A lone figure (aka Chameleon 77 I suspect) vaulted out of the vehicle and ran to the structure. Some acrobatic antics followed and after a short pause the figure sprinted back to the car and sped off in another cloud of dust Big Grin
So I wandered back over to the structure and had the cache in me paws in a couple of minutes Big Grin
You just have to be lucky sometimes Smile

Did I ever tell you I don't like heights! This one tested my mettle. The anglers below didn't even now I was around so carefully was I stepping. TFTC.

14th of 28 FFTD. Wasn't keen to make this one a drive-by, but Mrs E did think twice Big Grin. Took a bit of searching, but got there in the end. TNLNSL. TFTC.

Had to give this one a miss. Hope the fishermen who were settled in there with their chairs and bottles of refreshments had better results than we did. Will try again when down this way - hopefully when there are no muggles around.

17-Jan-08
Another nice easy driveby and an excellent hiding spot. TNLN. Thanks. Rav 4 Raiders.

15-Jan-08
Find number 1239 What an interesting spot. We had a bit of trouble finding this one. We had the wrong elevation. Found while on a mad 24 hour dash with Mr MadMyers and Everlasting doing the driving. This cache was one of our 189 today. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find. Cheers The Nanks

15-Jan-08
Out on a long night of caching with MrTheNanks - we found this one. On holidays from Queensland - what better way to spend a good few hours than caching!! Cache found, log signed - now onto the next cache! Thanks for the South Australian cache!

14-Jan-08
I needed a little help, thank God for mobile phones and friends who have done this one before. Once I was in the right spot all was good.
Thanks

12-Jan-08
Glorious day, watched 2 dolphins playing in the water alonside. Couldn't get Einor the Elephant to leave the sight. Coming from hot arid lands he must have been fascinated by the water & strange animals in it, so dropped him off.

12-Jan-08
Found it ! Very interesting spot ! GPS kept sending us to the wrong side also, but eventually found it in between watching the dolphins splash around just in front of us.

07-Jan-08
Interesting structure, we now know it intimently Smile
Didn't have any trouble walking up the ramp, most of it seems welded in place with rust.
Did take a while to find for reasons explaind by Chewin'
Thanks, Robmc.

07-Jan-08
Took us a while to spot this one mainly because the GPS consistantly placed us on the wrong side of the structure. It was the side we also favoured because it kept us pretty much out of sight of fishing muggles nearby. Only after we'd exausted all possibilties did I look on the other side and there it was. Was a bit nervous about being up here too as I could see plenty of broken and rusty cables. It will be a signifant crash when they all break, I'm thinking.
Thanks for a tough challenge.

Found by The Noodler. Took glass star, left opal.

It took me two visits to get a chance to look at all, but it did not make any difference, I did not manage to track this one down. Thanks.

Quite an interesting structure. I remember going on here for a school trip back in 1982. The trip seemed quite rough but was fun all the same.

The cache was hidden in a great spot and was quite a difficult thing to find. Eventually though... and with a little assistance, all was revealed. No worries in driving up either.

There was no way Mrs S was going to get close enough to this cache to make a find. Mr S did the deed. A number of nearby muggles in parked cars but they didn't seem to take any notice.
Thanks Rav 4 Raiders. Did not know this was still here.

Finally found it, Google earth had it on the other side, well I'm sticking with that anyway.I wasn't keen on going higher. 21 without GPS

16-Dec-07
We searched high...we searched low. We went up....we went down. We were at the point of giving up when Kettle kid found it Smile. Kettle kids had a great time climbing all over the structure. We do wonder how muck longer it will be there with all the development that is happening close by.

Left TB and then realised that we had logged it in at the Christmas event but had left it home and hadn't logged it out again. Will have to try and fix that!

15-Dec-07
Have looked for this one before and finally found it this time.

Cheers and thanks for the cache

13-Dec-07
Interesting place. We seemed to zero out on a needle, and after a bit of hunting the clue pointed us in the right direction and we found the cache. Nice view. Cheers Gav [1597]

13-Dec-07
Took a while - coords were definitely telling us the other side. Found a few needles underneath, before reading the clue. TNLN, Thanks.

What an interesting experience to find this one. Thirty years ago I drove part way up this by mistake about midnight. I am amazed it has not been removed for scrap metal.
Took a whale and left a koala because it will never get to Kangaroo Island this way to see its mates.
Thanks

Revisited this one today and searched extensively - our GPS leading us to exactly the same spot as last time. Widened our search, but still no luck Sad.
Eventually had to phone a friend, which quickly led us to the right spot Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin (this was about 6m out from our GPS locationSad).
This was one of those times, that by reading the logs, we were led away, rather than to the cache Razz.
Took the last dolphin.
Left a shark (or was that a whale).

Thanks R4Raiders - We hope it's awhile before progress catches up with this one [^].

bit of a time warp boarded that boat 29 years ago when the port was thriving ,,at least this is getting ya all down there to get a taste of the past ,,,well hidden ,,,fun to hunt out lot of thought went into this one...

14-Oct-07
Took a while, GPS was not too fond of being on a great big metal structure,
I have so many memories of this place, I used to sit for hours with my grandad watching the trucks be loaded onto the ferry. Aah good times. I am suprised that you are still allowed access to the the place, I thought that it was barbed off with a 10foot barbed wire fence, it will be amazing to watch this place change
Left Ball

This is my fourth visit and whilst I am only new to geocaching am at somewhat of a loss over this one. I am sure that it is somewhere there, but will obviously need to reconsider where I am looking. Hopefully I will find it before the redevelopment does!

21-Jul-07
this one had us searching high and low all over the place! read the title again ... worked out where it must be and presto found it! is that a camera in the large meter box near GZ! thanks from polky

16-Jul-07
Well I could not find this one at all. I am a short ass so that may be the problem. Could not get a good lock on the GPS and the structure has many places to hide. Hmmmm might try again another time.

11-Jul-07
Thought I had probed the likely spots from sea level to up high. Well hidden maybe but I ran out of time and perhaps height.

06-Jul-07
Found by Mary & David at 1755. Our second trip here and, with a hint from Freddo this time, we had success at last. There was a howling gale and the structure was creaking as if it was about to set sail itself. Great spot. TNLN. Our thanks to Rav 4 Raiders.

For us vertically challenged Flipper's it was quite a challenge, but HWML1 got it, nice little hunt this one was, not sure if the 2 car loads of folks there were fellow cachers or nosey muggles, only time will tell, I guess.

There are some cache placements that stick in the mind and this is right up there with the best. A few fishermen around but I was well hidden and the cache was in the 2nd place I was expecting to find it. Thanks Ravs.

23-May-07
Returned today after the event in town and armed with extra clues from Jack I had another search. Had to resort to the helpline in the end though and with explicit instructions I finally located it about 15m from where the GPS was pointing - completely on the opposite side of the structure!
It was fun searching though Smile
Left the 'Springfield' Diabetes TB
Cheers.

20-May-07
The challenge was set when a friend phoned seeking assistance - we couldn't help, so when he still didn't find it we knew we had to, and that I did, quite easily in fact Wink whilst the brat boys had a ball clambering all over the very interesting structure - TFTC and the bragging rights Cool

19-May-07
I looked high & low, climbed all over the structure & stuck my hand in all sorts of places I probably shouldn't have but still ended up as a DNF. But then I suppose it was only my first visit here. It seems to be taking most people a few Twisted
Cheers.

13-May-07
OK, NOW I'm gettin' a bit despondent Sad
My FIFTH trip here, and I still come up empty-handed. (I stopped logging DNF's after the first two). Even with a coerced brother in law out to help, and 2 phone a friends, the cache still would not reveal itself to me.(Mind you, both the friends I rang haven't done this cache.)
Saw 3 police cars and a K9 unit looking intently around the nearby multi-storey dilapidated building, but paid us no heed as we scrambled over EVERY inch of the structures at GZ.[B)]
And when you read logs that state "found easily", it really makes you wonder if you're either trying too hard, or just not cut out for caching after all.[xx(]
But lizards love a challenge, so I shall return.TwistedCool

Finally (if only we had an option of a log type of Found it finally). Even thought about bringing food and befriending my friend the rat.
After a few trips in and around the structure, up and down (and you can go a fair way down with low tide), finally located this regular sized cache.
Never travelled on the M.V. Troubridge but my parents and sisters did before I came along in the sixties - kept their dinner plates for me (see photos).
Went to school with Captain Skuse's son (the last Captain)and back in the 80's visited the ship's bridge whilst it was in Kingscote. Also fondly remember afternoon drives to the port and watching the Troubridge go through the bridge.
Left a Smiley sticker and Thara's 200 Cents TB to enjoy the Million Dollar View. Took Diabetes TB.

Exactly a month after my DNF, I have returned and found it with ease this time thanks to some pointers from various sources at the Pub Lunch event Red Face.
I got sprung badly with the cache in hand though. After I had filled in the log, something attracted my attention above and was startled to find two muggle truant teenagers peering down on me from up high Surprised. I had to solicit from them a promise not to nick the cache (after I had shown them the contents in the hope that that would satisfy their curiosity). They seemed like they were ok with it, but it might be wise for future finders not to put any TBs or coins in there for a while, in case they decide to check it again in the days ahead. Sorry ‘bout that R4R [B)]

28-Feb-07
Eighty-third of 128 finds on "The Big Adelaide Assault" in company with acts2youthgroup and HawMorFords. This cache caused us some grief, and the ten-minute timer almost ran out. The three of us agreed on where GZ was, but the cache wasn't there. We expanded our search area, but still couldn't lay hands on it. With time running out, we rang a help line, and with a couple of hints, we finally got it at 1322. The ten minute alarm went off seconds after we found the cache. I made no exchange. Thanks to Rav 4 Raiders for the cache. Cheers, dak.

Eighty-three of one hundred and twenty-eight cache finds on the "The Big Adelaide Assault" the cache was found at 13:22 in company with dak's Emu Mob and HawMorFords. Wow we nearly walked away on this one as the ten minute timer went off just after we found it. The coordinates were 10-15m out. A very interesting structure.

Thanks Rav 4 Raiders for the cache.

13:22 - Find #83 of 128 on our Big Day's Caching in the company of dak's Emu Mob and acts2youthgroup.

I really enjoyed this cache though for a while there, it looked like we were going to miss out. The timer was ticking and we spent way too long looking in the wrong place - it was only when the search area was extended that the prize was in hand. The coords were 10 or 15 metres out for us.

Thanks to Rav 4 Raiders for the cache.

21-Feb-07
On two recent occasions I have noticed some pushbike riders searching gz. I drive past the area on my way to work (usually about 8 am). Just waiting to see the log – good luck, whoever you are!

This brings up cache number 1250 for SA_Parrothead.
Remember watching the cars load here.
An interesting piece of SA History.
We had fun exploring the structure.

15-Feb-07
Found it after a short hunt. The hint about the height narrowed down the possible nooks to search in.

A couple of family holidays started from here as a child. The boat being slow made for many hours of "are we there yet". I remember we were under way for an age, before we even got past outer harbour!
Fun times.

I also took a dolphin
Left a voucher for cappuccino.

Took Feng Shui Geocoin.

Thnx Rav 4 Raiders

And PL too. The boat went to Port Lincoln as well.

Supposed to have been a fabulous cruise. If it was not rough.

If it was. Bring your spew bag.

Great cache, in a fantastic location. Love your work.

Looked in every place I could think of at the imagined elevation, but couldn’t find anywhere capable of hiding a regular sized cache? Got some great photos of the activity and old buildings around this Port area. I’ll have to watch this for a while and come back another day. Cheers R4R, and welcome back. Good to see an old seasoned team back on the radar. Big Grin

08-Feb-07
Well this one was too close to work to ignore so Racey and I took a walk in our lunch break. Nice piece of engineering- too bad it is redundant. spotted an unexpected pod just after opening the cache. It was not a quick find as there was a lot to search and the gps could not make a decision. Racey would never have found this one based on altitude. T; Filbert TB L; Beagle TB TFTC

Had to go to Semaphore so it seemed like an excuse to take the GPS along. No one fishing today. Looked high and low. Successfully remembered what the RAV4 team looked like and picked the likely spot. TNLN SL Saw some dolphins too.

04-Feb-07
We came last night for a look see and there were to many fisherpersons around, so left rather empty. However this morning was a different story, Still managed a FTF and we saw a larger pod of dolphins than we did yesterday even managed to catch one and take it home Wink

There were a couple of fishers there when we arrived, but they left empty handed soon after, we took some time to look all over and then we had to leave empty handed as well. We must have looked in every hiding spot except the right one. MODU.

03-Feb-07
Under the cover of darkness, spotting the “dolphins†should have been easy. They had just been there, according to the fisher people.

I did not walk the plank, but I looked up. RAV4’s are not THAT tall.

No way. Surprised

But after reading the clue, the sinker sank. Red FaceWink

Just how accurate the GZ is I don’t know as there were 2 possibilities. Wink

Muggles with little glow things on the end of their rods abounded. I settled in, goldfish watching. Just around the ramp drop-off, there were 1000’s of them in the torch light.

But there is only so long one, without a rod, or crab net, can seemingly be bemused by watching the fish, and waiting for the pods. Or was I searching for the drug stash? What were they beginning to think? Why wouldn’t they pack up and go????

½ time – so I changed sides. I wasn’t 100% convinced I had the correct RAV. As it was dark, it was all by feel.

I never did find the thing (I was there for over an hour, but look time was short), but I bet if you arrive at dawn to see the dolphins, you will spot the damn thing quickly.
