Bit of a tight squeeze but made a fairly quick find.yes it would be interesting to see the gate operate - I thought they should operate on each tide change, but apparently not!
This one has been on our to do list for a while and we managed to find a gap in muggles today to have a proper look. Once we were in the right spot, actually found it pretty quickly! A couple of birds were watching over the gates as well left. TFTC!This is our first ever D4.5/T1.5 find!
An interesting looking challenge... but there was a muggle sitting close to GZ... fishing. Walked away without even making an attempt to look.
Looked for a bit. Crawled a bit. Eventually made the find. Interesting area for a cache. Needed this one for the Original Fizzy challenge (caches have to be placed before April of 2007).
For the whole working day I had been working hard trying to solve the Brain puzzles in the area. I wanted to complete them all, so they would be the target of my after work geocaching run. However after only completing 1, I needed a new plan. As such I thought I'd try and fix a number of DNFs.
With the sun shining and no clouds on the horizon, my plan was a go. Armed with a hint, I didn't use my GPSr which had always seemed to point to a different location. With the coast clear, I was in and found in quickly. Not the sort of cache you should do in a suit.
Thanks for the cache The Coffee's

We made our initial attempt to locate this cache on the 4/1/2020 and I remember how disappointed we felt when we had to walk away with a DNF. It's taken us until today to make a second attempt and try to turn that frown into a smiley face.
Having read through the logs and armed with a helpful hint from the lovely CO back in 2020, we were pretty hopeful of success this time. However, those thoughts began to waver around the 30 minute mark. We found ourselves inventing our own style of yoga positions, contorting, ducking, weaving, crawling around in the delightful dirt, rubbish and spiderwebs, all to no avail.
At the 60 minute mark, we decided to reach out to a PAF. Back we went with the excellent intel our PAF had given us, yet even with this information, the cache still eluded us. Just as we were about to give up, Steve turned to me and there it was! It’s obviously had some cache creep from all accounts, but after signing the log, we replaced as found.
Our thanks to The Coffee's for this devilishly clever hide and to our amazing PAF. A favourite point for the hide and also for the relief of not having to make a return trip

We were on a mission with a long wish list of caches for our one full day in and around Melbourne.
This was as far South as we had to go. We needed some luck at Tidal Gates to procure the rare trad' D/T combo it offered for a challenge cache we are both aiming for.
Luck was on our side.
Something tells us this hide is not as it originally was, but.....

Cache found with dalerious .
We weren't quite sure on what to expect here, or where to start our search .
We are thankful to say though, that there wasn't the huge traffic flow that we are certain would be here on a perfect sunny day.
Today, it was blowing a gale, and we found the cache quick as a flash.
Thank you The Coffee's .
Melbourne was the place to be this weekend, and the weather for this time of year was very kind.
As usual, we had a pre determined list of chosen caches to complete, and we are chuffed to say, we completed them all, and some .
We were out in the dead of night by light visiting some truly remarkable caches.
We signed a Challenge Cache for night cache stats that I qualified for, just this weekend .
Overall, it was another great time away, and it is because of you cache owners. We are truly grateful to the best of the best, that are dedicated and committed to this wonderful game.

I am petite, which can be a nuisance at times. Not with this cache though. I searched for the cache from the wrong angle, which wasted a bit of time. Swapped to the right angle and there is was. A quick retrieval was made and I was on my way. Great spot for a cache.
Following a joyful celebration for n0w0rries 10th cache anniversary and a some time travel at a nearby cache, spiffy mentioned this difficult cache.
We were on a roll after a 100% success find rate at the mega and ready to beat the tidal gates.
Soon enough spiffy spied the cache and I made the retrieval.
Interesting to have a cache here and it’s a great spot for a paddle in amongst the houses along the waterways
Thanks for bringing me back here.

A couple of goes here as we left it to look at the other cache in the area. Came back and searched. Nearly gave it up but some inspiration from other logs, kept us searching further!
This was my 3rd or 4th visit, the first time where no people were walking or milling about. One time someone was fishing right at GZ! A cloudy/rainy day seems the best time to collect this (and a sunny weekend is the worst). I overthought the hint and checked places that gave away nothing more than cobwebs. I'm not a huge fan of underbridge caches (mostly cause I cache alone). After about 20mins of looking at everything, I noticed the cache, then a quick duck in and it was signed and I was off back to my walk.
TFTC Very cool find, just what we needed after a quick boating adventure, thanks!
Grub62 and I were over this way on other business. I was able to get the smiley face on this cache without any difficulty at all. While I was distracted looking at the scenery and diverting the attention of any passers by. Grub62 did all the finding and signing. What a wonderful place great views. TFTC.
Bunadoorian and I were heading to Carrum Downs and decided to try for this cache. I found this cache while Bunadoorian was taking in the views. Thank you for bringing us here- another part of Melbourne we didn't know was here. The gates were closed today - I would have loved to see it with the gates open. TFTC Mr.Coffee and the Coffee Clan (The Coffee's)
Well hidden from one angle, clear as day from another. Hard to access muggle free but easily doable. Tftc
There were a few people fishing nearby but they seemed to be preoccupied. The search took a few minutes to find the cache - perhaps not quite what I expected. Thanks to The Coffee's for the cache.
First of three caches that dad located on a gorgeous afternoon.
Fumbled around without success and without disturbing the muggled, but a change of angle and the cache was soon spotted. Thanks heaps for this rare D/T combination.

Today was a planned trip to Frankston to pick something up, turns out it was advertised but not in stock. Glad I put some caches into the GPS for the trip.
This cache brings me to 800 I wonder when I will get 900 or 1000 which is the next milestone.
Parked so I could do the 2 local caches. looked here, looked there and then decided I had to look there too.
Yeah its there ,just have to get to there to get it. Retrieved signed and replaced.
Thanks to The Coffee's FYI the gates were open today.

As previous people have mentioned... Having a Geokid comes in handy with this cache. Lovely spot for a break from our ride too.
Found at 1:05 pm.
Took the small geokid out for a scooter and cache for a few hours today (more scooter than caching) but that's ok. Had a couple of DNF's today but others had as well on the same caches so that made me feel a bit better.
Small geokid came in handy after a spotted this one from the right angle.
Thanks The Coffee's for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Back here to have a picnic, not so busy today! Can confirm it's back in action. Hooray!
Last time I came here I looked all over including where this one now is, and I didn’t locate it. Tonight I saw this one from a distance with its new container. Had to attack from a different angle to get to it and found it had some water in it. Shook it out, signed log and put it back in a spot where hopefully the rain won’t get in this time.
With a wonderful message from Oshfam I headed down to this cache and retrieved the old cache container and have put in a new 200ml Sistema container with new log book, I will update the clue as the works have slightly altered the final location but made it better.
Happy Caching everyone.
Happy Caching everyone.
Well I had eyed this off for a while now and decided after running a nearby ParkRun I would come here with PrezDough.
Not having much luck, I resorted to PAF and got some good hints.
However, that wasn’t great. I decided that I would have to get dirty here and try my best snake technique. PrezDough watched on while I cleared the spider webs and slithered my way closer to what I thought was the cache.
I was about 2m away and used my phone camera to zoom in and sure enough it looked like a container there.
I grabbed it and realised that maybe when there was upgrade works, that this was probably within “easy” reach. Not so anymore due to the new renovation. I have moved it to a slightly better spot that doesn’t involve a slither on your stomach and more in line with a T 1.5.
I also think that following works, this container was replaced as it was probably removed during the upgrade renovations.
Needless to say, I could find Tidal Gates “replacement cache”, however I found the original with the last log dating back to 2020.
Well the container here is in reasonable condition, however the log and bag are in dire need of replacement.
I visited 5 TB.
TFTC.
I will give it a FP, however I think I need one… LOL.

I came here under the cover of darkness with a headlamp and the possibility of getting dirty to find this one. I didn’t find this one.
Tricky one to located. Found during the break on foot and bike muggles. TYFC found with Melscrubbingin
Went with teachnpeeps. Lucky for his eagle eyes and stealth mode or I wouldn’t have had any hope in finding it. Thanks for the cache. Lucky to have some cool spots to visit in our 5km. Thanks for the cache!
It was cold. Our hearts weren’t it in. We had a fair look for about 15 minutes but nothing was jumping out at us. One to come back to……
Lol went past yesterday and there was workmen at GZ, waited 30 mins but needed to keep moving, will be back in the next few days.
Due to lock downs and a few other issues I have overlooked checking on this cache even though I passed it today.
I will check on it shortly
I will check on it shortly
Not sure if it’s just us or because of all the works they are doing here with buts all blocked off but couldn’t find it today
Wandering around this beautiful river with lots of muggles out today I had to wait to fill in log book. Coming up to the wet weather it might be an idea to replace the plastic bag as it will get wet. Thanks for the cache.
After our third attempt we finally found it after about Half an hour. We looked under the bridge as an obvious spot so we soon switched where we looked and found the cache.
This cache brought us to a rather serene location on our adventure today.
The weather was beautiful and highlighted this wonderful place even more.
We meandered to the rather interesting looking structure of a bridge and began our hunt.
Rather surprisingly, we found it quite swiftly after a short search in a few places.
Plenty of sneaky spots it could've been tucked away in, but the one chosen is one of the better ones and fits the hint perfectly.
Coords are a few metres out to the side, but applying the hint and searching around can provide a find.
Thanks to The Coffee's for a cool little hide in a great spot.

Despite a long search by both Steve & myself at different positions, this cache eluded us today. Grabbed the opportunity to let the dog we are minding cool down in the river, while hoping Steve may have had some success in our absence. Not to be today, so will give this another go when we next in the area.
Cheers The Coffee’s.

Out bike riding in the winter sun and this is one we really wanted. It was 18 months ago that we recorded a DNF. We were disappointed last time, but today with more experience under our belts we found this sneaky well disguised cache within about 5 minutes. Log signed and all back safe again.
Thanks

Took my partner and I three tries to find this one. Its in a very tight and sneaky spot.
Freezing cold Melbourne afternoon. Decided to give this one a go thinking no one would come out to go walking. We had the GZ to ourselves. After 15 mins of searching & looking thru previous logs, we made the find.
It was very satisfying indeed.
Very clever hiding spot.
Lovely view of the mountains across the water.
Thank you for the challenge The Coffee’s

Ahhhhhhh finally found it after two attempts with TheKrak3n and the help of the CO. Well hidden, definitely lives up to its high difficulty rating.
Covered the search area for some time but was defeated. Maybe not low enough.
Thought we would try our luck here before catching up with the family for brunch. Luckily it didn’t take us as long as we were anticipating. TFTC!!
Last time I was in the area, I never attempted this as I was scared off by the difficulty rating.
Decided to have a crack tonight - the last cache of the day.
I couldn't figure out where to park, and as I was on Pier One Drive, I saw quite a few people walk, cycle and run along the trail in different directions - this wasn't going to be easy. But quite astonishingly, by the time I'd parked and walked over, there was no one about at all. And the coords led me right to it. I quickly signed my name and was out of there.
Thanks The Coffee's!

Obviously a little too sneaky for a quick find and with muggles every few minutes we abandoned the cache and enjoyed the walk instead.
Found it , I have rode the bike over this one many times so today we stopped. After searching for a little while got down low and spotted from a short distance. Tftc
Over on a visit from UK.
Had 3 goes at this one now and no luck on any attempt.
Looks like I'll be going back to UK without it!

Decided to tackle this cache on a cold windy day. Hopefully the muggles will stay away long enough for us to search. As we approached GZ, we noticed a small group of people fishing nearby and 2 Fisheries officials. We decided to walk on until the traffic reduced a bit. As we walked on, we noticed the officials walking off and the fishing group packing up. Great timing for us. Walked back to GZ and started our search. Spent some time looking when Chiefton Snr spied the cache. With a bit of clever finger work, log was signed. TFTC The Coffee's.

Out for an arvo of caching with lochb in her brand new car, what comfy seats and it’s all shiny and new... As the day wore on it didn’t look so clean, especially under our shoes ...sorry lb!
It was a cold cloudy day so there weren’t many people around at all although a father and son spotted us from a canoe as we were looking around lol
We continued looking to no avail, so we decided to contact the CO so sent a message. I thought to myself haha when you send a message you usually find the cache straight away but I don’t think that will happen this time!! Anyway after sending the message I stood back and changed tack and thought Oh I wonder.... I tried something and thought hmmmm did I feel something then? I tried again and cooooool, the cache revealed itself!!
How funny!!! I called out to the others Found it and got no reaction from them ... huh?? Oh whoops wouldn’t you know a muggle was walking over the bridge right at that point whoops!!! Anyway he continued on not paying any attention -phew! The others then came over lol So I then quickly sent another message to the CO to cancel our plea for help lol
We then took a photo as this was the most picturesque location we had seen so far today

I'd headed to Melbourne on the 5th May for a weekend stay to see Priscilla: Queen of the Desert
Instead there was a mammoth change in my plans when the Corolla suddenly needed new brakes [xx(] which led to needing new tyres [^] which led to needing a new wheel bearing [xx(]
So a weekend turned into almost 3 full weeks and my HUGE thanks to the very patient and tolerant kmace who not only provided accommodation for myself but also for Rex [:X][:X]
Having your home invaded by a rabid geocacher who gets irritated when they have no car to go and find caches because it is in the workshop [xx(] and a pup who shreds his toys all over the house is not an easy ask for a day or two: let alone 20 odd days! [:X]
Rex also loved the beaches and the seagulls so there were many walks on the beach, some in pouring rain and gusting winds but that's what being a dog owner is about [^]
During this time some fantastic caches were found and some adventures occurred [^]
My thanks to all of the COs for the fun and the finds [^]
Day 11 and today was a day that I had the car to travel, so there was 8 geocache attempts for a total of 7 finds and 1 DNF.
Considering the DNF was a Sparra0907 cache and I've cached in Swan Hill before, I didn't feel too bad about it!
Night time is the best time for finding caches like this: isn't it[?]
Only a couple of fishermen down at the water's edge to dodge although I did have to encourage Rex to understand that fishing rods being used to cast the lines out into the water are NOT worth growl-barking at!
Surprisingly this cache didn't take as long to find as I had expected that it would!
Had fun looking at the varying depth of the water and the tiny fish swimming around in the outlet

We looked for quite some time and found a promising location, to no avail.
One of those DNFs where you know it is there but it eludes you.

This one had been on the to do list for a seemingly long time, as it was an interesting dt that I will need for some loop in the future..... oooohhhhh stats and stuff. Eitherway after finding the most managable parking location I soon made my way down and began my search..... up down all around...... and many a muggle passing by. After ample time and no real success I eventually succumb.to advice from a friend and after a little more time the cache was eventually in my hands. Eitherway I would love to thank you for the cachd and the great little walk along the water.
Thanks to a hint from the owner we were able to make the find. My work colleagues first and 5th finds respectively
On a quick trip over from Adelaide, I was visiting my sister who lives nearby, we grabbed the dogs and took a walk down this path to the tidal gates. We search all over. On the bridge under the bridge but alas no cache could be found.
Bike ride with fam. Took us a little while longer than it should have. TFTC

If I'm honest I'd been avoiding this one for a while as it sounded decidedly tricky for a simple traditional. It's very close to my daily commute and with most other caches picked up along the way I was left with no option but to swing by after work to give it a crack. I spent about 20 minutes searching here to no avail before resorting to a PAF. With some helpful guidance I was able to get my hands on this tricky little one. The only other comment I would add is that I found the hint misleading (or I simply didn't understand it) and am unsure how it relates to the current hide. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache and the (challenge!) The Coffees.

I had met up with mazza-g to do a night cache not far from here. That cache proved a little difficult so we decided to leave that one for another night. Arriving at GZ there was a little bit of activity from some local men fishing. Lucky for us they weren't paying much attention to what we were up to. We located the cache quite quickly but retrieving it wasn't as easy. After trying unsuccessfully mazza-g stepped in and before you know it we were both signing the log. TFTC
Went to do a nearby night cache with Judith9799 however there seemed to be an issue with reflectors. So I suggested coming to do this cache as I needed a find for today. It was surprising to see muggles on the track at this hour and a couple of people fishing at the tidal gates. Armed with a hint that the CO gave me some 12 months ago it didn't take too long to find. Retrieving the container was a bit of a challenge as it was stuck hard. But determination got it out. Thanks Mr Coffee for the cache.
Found in the company ofGoldielover, bella at waggy, orange crew, Dahumbug and just a trifle on Day 3 of our Melbourne adventure.
Took a bit to find but loved the area. Now off to track down a few more.
Thanks The Coffee's
