I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Needs attention clearly. An excuse to plan a romp up to Toka Trig.
Forgive me if replacing this cache takes me a little while.
Happy for any geocacher going this way to offer to assist. It is pretty remote.

Found this easily enough on way to Toka Biv, but the lid was missing and the container full of water. Couldn't sign log as it was too wet and didn't have anything with me to replace it. Good spot with nice views. TFTC
Great day out along the tops. We came up Knights Track, picking up the cache enroute to Toka Biv. After lunch, we climbed up to Tunupo, then back down to Alice Nash memorial Hut and the road end..
8hrs of walking, with 1670m of cummulative ascent! whew!

Visited cache to sign log again with chucky3 and MUAC-CH, on our day trip up Toka and down Tunupo. Thanks for the cache.
Certainly a favourite and even though I got totally soaked in 3 heavy periods of rain I really enjoyed this cache. Good tracks and was a difficulty / terrain rating I had not located before, so very pleased. Took around 6 hours in total. SL TFTC
An amazing trek on an amazing day! The views were spectacular and it was one of the first true days of Summer, it seemed! I did have to dig the cache out of a foot of snow, but it was still dry inside. It took me 6 hours, up Knight's Track and down Short's, going at a slow steady pace. Such a great spot! Thanks!!
Checked this cache while on an excellent day tramp up Short's track, up to Toka and down Knight's track. The inside of the container was a bit wet but the contents and log book were all OK. Dried things out while having lunch at Toka. Returned to its protective leatherwood.
Found on a daytrip with ten others from the PNTMC. A nice easy find - once you get up the hill, that is! We went up Knights Track, and had great views of Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe once we cleared the bushline, but then entered cloud as we got higher still. We emerged from the cloud again as we carried on along the ridge to Shorts Track, and could gradually take our warm layers off again as we got lower still. Winter is definitely on the way!
The inside of the cache was a little damp, but the log was dry enough to write in. There was at least one entry from a party that had found it accidentally (last month, the 18th I think?), but otherwise it does seem to be a very lonely cache! I rescued the Kiwi Geocoin, which I imagine would like to move on after 17 months up there...
We stopped at Hansen's Cafe and Bar in Kimbolton on the way home, and I can heartily recommend dropping in if you're ever up that way!

Cleo found this with muggles Leanne and Sue on a Manawatu Tramping and Skiing Club Wednesday trip. Possum did not quite make the cache as when he got to the saddle it was so windy he had to hang onto the sign post to stop being blown back down the hill and Cleo being a bit ahead of him reported she had found it. What a day with great views including snow covered Ruapehu suspended in the distance. It is certainly worth the effort to visit this lonely cache on a fine day. TFTC
Decided to go on a New Years Tramp into the Ruahines and picked this one on the way to Leon Kinvig Hut. Visibility was pretty low so was good to have the GPS and a tracking dog to find the track Dropped of the 2006 Kiwi Geocoin. Wonder how long it will stay here....
Re visited this cache today with some youngsters along for the walk on a day seldom experienced in this place - little wind, no cloud and a clear sky - magic! Showed the boys what geocaching is all about so they all signed the log and expressed interest in taking up the activity. Cache returned safe and sound to its resting place but it gets VERY lonely as few seem to want to visit it!
Mrs TT was away tramping in the Ruahines with Edvern. Part of our route happened to pass over Toka. Edvern says 'by the way there is a cache here', so in the rain, mist and wind we quickly located it. Boy was it a struggle up here with heavy packs, and no views as a reward(!).
We revised our intended route and headed off down to Leon Kinvig Hut to dry off and have a coffee. TFTC

Found with the company of Tramper Ted. We had planned a four day tramping trip into the Ruahines, starting by going up Toka to get a cache that has been my agenda for a while. A miserable wet start but the rain actually eased as we got above the bush line. It took us 3 1/4 hours up Knight's Track to reach the trig with our four-day packs. In spite of foggy conditions the cache was quickly found, and is in very good condition - nice and dry. Out red spider, in black spider. We had hoped to continue along the tops but the weather meant a change in plans and we did a Ruahine crossing via Leon Kinvig and Longview huts.
I have been planning to visit this cache for some time and the opportunity presented itself today so off I went hunting for deer and Tararua Turtles Toka Tops cache. Not successful with the deer part but found the cache OK. Battled a screaming westerly and cloud so on went the thermals but you can get out of it in the snow grass and life was pleasant filling in the log and having lunch. Knight's track is the way to go - steep yes, but far less time spent on exposed ridges. A great cache and beats the cache situated on the side of the road requiring minimal physical effort to find it. Thanks heaps Tararu Turtle - I will plan a return favour!
Well, this one has been sitting here for over a month so I thought someone better do the decent thing and pay a visit.
As stated this is a fairly serious hike with nearly 1000m of vertical ascent and it certainly required some effort.
Left the carpark in nice sunny conditions but could see the tops covered in cloud. Was hoping this would clear and it did for a while. However by the time I got out out of the bush into the open the cloud was back and I climbed into it at about 1300 metres. Fortunately I was fully layered up at this point with the polyprops, all the woollens, and gortex as it quickly became very windy and rather cold.
The last few hundred metres were amazing, I was getting buffeted around big time, the wind was pushing me off the track and very nearly pushing me over. Cache found quickly, signed the log, and headed back. And, by the time I got back to the car park it was still sunny and warm down there! Certainly a great reminder to always carry the necessary gear, not just for a change in the weather but to cope with the different conditions that can exist as you move up through weather zones on the mountain.
Tried to save time by taking Knights track but this may of not been my best option. It is very steep and I was stopping for a rest every 5 minutes, better to keep moving, even over a longer distance. However I still managed a four hour return time to the car so was happy with that.
Thank you for the challenge, accepted, and completed!
