Looked a bit wet on the approach as it had been raining, so my feet got wet through but it's worth a smiley.. Cheers
I felt this place was quite a sad spot. It is really indicative of the death of small rural communities. A project in 2000 has nice wrought iron gates, but inside the broken gates is a mass of overgrown grass, rubbish and a locked up hall that looks in dire need of maintenance. Such a shame. Loved the big cache and tipped out the water lying in it. Some rust but didnt spot what from. Two logs in the box. Both signable. Retrieved the tb to move on. Thanks for the hide, Kiwi Moose.#10623
Found with Sally, great finding caches that havent been found for a while. Last find 23/5/23
Nice easy cache to start off the day. Nice rural location surrounded by dairy farms
A geat morning for a drive to find a few more caches around the place. Working my way towards completing the Challenge Wheel (Hard) for this month. Looks like millenium money was spent on the gates but the hall missed out. Cache found in the logical spot. TFTC, Biggles.
Out collecting a few caches out of the city, and get some more points for the Wheel of Challenges for this month.
Looks like the hall isn't used too often, but I'm here for the cache anyway... No drama with the find.
TFTC Kiwi Moose, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 24 find(s) of 25 today, making this find #3954

Have been living around for almost 2 years and havent known about it. Its a pitty the building is not used for its purpose anymore. Like to see some gathering there
An easy find and a new log to replace the soggy one, thanks to Karma Reprint. A sweet building and some awesome fruiting cacti by the church across the road. Tftc
Yeah the countryside looks amazingly different eh. People complain about the amount of water used on the plains but you don't often hear people complaining about the prosperity it brings. I guess there has to be a balance somewhere. Thanks for bringing me here Kiwi Moose, I do enjoy exploring the countryside.
Zz and Soso found this one while on holiday at Grandma and Grandads farm in school holidays. Initially they looked in wrong spot, but looked at map again and found right spot. Cool cache.
This one had us searching but made sense when we found it. Scared a rabbit guardian away! Some good wee treasure for family geocachers.
#14096. Country halls are always interesting to visit; thanks for putting the cache here. TFTC.
Despite the drizzly weather, StreetWalker and I set out to find some caches today to bring our total finds for 27th May over the 20 mark. We had never been down this road before and a series of caches gave us the opportunity to explore the area.
I'm not a fan of all the dairying which has changed the local landscape for the worse. Suspect the riches have benefited just a few folk.
Cache was a quick find - just follow the geo-trail! A nice big container so left a TB which I have held on to for far too long. No sign of the TB listed on the cache page, though. TFTC.

A great cache and it was big enough for books. Lots of colourful mushrooms/toadstools here.
What an interesting place, a Fav for taking me there. Some very nosy cows watching while I signed the log, almost, just almost got a hand smell from one. Have dropped off a TB. TFTC

I made a trade me purchase - near dunsandel! Ah - what an excuse to go out caching!! So I decided to try find as many as the babys patience would allow - turns out that was only 11 caches - as the drive was quite long too! Baby slept most of the way south, then woke up after only a few caches, and got quite frustrated that she was stuck in her car seat all alone while I was having all the fun!! So we had to give up, and turn around!
Number 9. Awake baby - so we tooka nice wonder together to the cache. Cache was pretty nice and quickly found. I always feel like someone is watching me from inside these buildings!!
TFTC!!

What a cute wee building Heocaching is helping us see many things we wouldn't have otherwise ! Tftc
We were on the way to Ashburton for the CITO event but there was plenty of time to do some caching on the way. We actually came in from the paddock next door oops - we were about to make our way around and Mum spotted the cache and thought she could probably reach it and yes - she could We startled a chicken who was perched in the tree but apart from that the only other signs of animals were the cow patties in the paddock we had to watch carefully not to stand on. The logbook has held up really well and still its original logbook from 9 years ago!! That impressive. Thanks for the cache
Was in the area for a couple of nights, so while Mrs. 2wombles looked after the wee womble, I took grandma womble out on her first caching trip. Thanks for the cache.
Last one for the day. And what an awesome one to finish with. I enjoy caches like this that are placed in places with history and meaningful really good cache. Tftc
I decided to venture out on a random drive to find some caches and get to know places. Both aims accomplished successfully in around 8.5 hours, covering a mere 180-ish k's, with plenty of interesting caches along the way. It was a good day for caching, overcast, turning to rain and showers, keeping muggles indoors. Got back home late, wet, and happy. Thanks to all the CO's for great hides that gave me hours of entertainment!
Great spot, even though I almost went from two eyes to one here...

On way home from West Coast after seeing family before Christmas. Geocaching certainly helps break up the journey. What a neat place, we love finding these spots through caching.TFTC
That's the size of cache we like left a turtle Tb to play with the rabbits tftc

Out on a Monday Night Mission with TG. We attempted an Alpine assult on a new puzzle but were foiled by wind and rain!!! We headed out to Rakaia for a FTF attempt and rounded up the night with some smurfs. We were rained on, saw a spectacular sunset. Drove down some 'no exit' roads to find an exit and had a great old time.
Thanks for the cache.

It was 28 degrees outside and I had no work today. I decided to go on a country drive with the air-conditioning on full blast.
The sprinklers were greatly appreciated. Magpies appeared to be guarding the cache. Thankfully they flew away before I reached gz.

Another great find while slowly heading to the Christchurch Mega.

We didn't know about the hall or the church. Nice big cache. Pity we didn't have any travel bugs or geocoins to leave behind.
Closest cache to my sons farm. A bit of extra activity for Christmas day. Cheers Kiwi Moose!
Aborted on a nearby one as as much as I love knarly gravel roads in my car..bit chicken in the rented camper. ..so this one got a chance.. could her cedric in the back ground but he did spot us.. nice size bix but looking a bit empty:(..... ps... holy s.. that would have been an expensive cache.. got back to the car couldnt find the 62s any where (hadnt loaded any for this area so was using duo-ing phone)... wander back to gz.... there it is laying in the grass. Clearly it missed my pocket when I put it there. .. looks like I must be ready to go home!;)

I love these country halls. I wondered if it would be good place to have a guide camp and do a farm visit. Thanks for bringing me here.
Driving around parts of the Canterbury Plains we have seen numerous examples of large scale irrigation equipment. We'e sure it must take a fair amount of riches to install these in order to make the riches from dairying.
We called in at the Te Pirata Hall today to do our bit to help increase its number of visitors. TFTC.

Lovely spot that I drive by almost everyday but never stopped to look at. Thanks for giving me a reason.
Caching around the South Island via campervan with Wild Coin Cacher while on holiday. TFTC SL
Came out to Rakaia on a sunny afternoons TradeMe mission...mission complete and a bit of time for cache hunting. Originally not planning on comming this far out...but I had time, so why not. A quaint wee spot. A wee gathering of farmers across the road fixing a fence - but other than that, no worries. A nice wee hall. A quick find and sign.....Cheers.
Scared (or rather was scared by) a few chickens on the approach, but found easily enough. TFTC
It's nice to be a bit of the beaten track. A transformation from dryland I haven't seen since the Maniatoto got irrigation. Approach at GZ was a bit prickly but we got the smilie smiling. TFTC
A long drive to this cache after finding "Kowhai" even though the straight line distance was not too much. A bit uncomfortable getting to GZ but cache was soon signed. TFTC.

Homeward bound after the Mega, via the South Island Orienteering champs at Naseby. As I was now well ahead of the rain, and not too tired, with some daylight left, I took the opportunity to detour to this and a nearby cache to cross them off my list - the last few north of the Selwyn and West of the highway I hadn't yet found. A quick find. TFTC.

Wow, some of the irrigators seen nearby are massive. Amazing what a little (?) bit of water can do.

Found a chicken nest complete with 6 eggs but no sign of the chicken. Strange. Cache found on an Easter weekend of caching around Methven. TFTC
On a caching expedition with Bitsprayer and Drawp today as we toured aroung the Ashburton / Rakaia Area. So the vehicle stopped and as no one in attendance my quick walk was well rewarded.
Thanks
