Found during a road trip around Central NSW. A short stop for this older cache. I had to do a lap to find the entry track. A short uphill walk followed by a clamber up to the top. Cache found in an interesting rock formation. TFTC

Had to park down the road a bit then made the hike in. Found the answer the crunched the numbers quite quickly. Managed to also locate the cache quite quickly which was nice. TFTC.

Parked on the road and went for a walk up the hill with ilook4geo. We had previously worked out the new numbers and went there to find a cache in a well protected position. Great view from up here. Signed the log book and replaced where found. Thanks for bringing us here and for placing this cache go to GeoScour.

Such an amazing part of NSW so being stuck here waiting for Qld to let me back in isn't such a problem when you have amazing caches to find!
Loved the theme of this one, hint made sense when you look where your going.
TFTC

Some history from the locals who I brought with me, this hill is called Water Trough Hill. If you take the lower track for a few hundred metres you will come across the water trough cut into the side of the road for the horses which were used back in the day for transport etc. The trough was cut in here in 1894, as per the etching into the stone. There is a natural water flow keeping it full. Keep your eye out for it or you'll walk right passed it.

OCW Calypso62, Smurfguy, Smurfclain and TJ_Awsome for the weekend.
We collected the information from WP1 but did not do the calculations until later in the night.
We where back today to find GZ and the Cache.
What great views from up here, even with all the bushfire devastation. I am amazed how well Mother Nature repairs itself.

Out with the geo-family to find this cache. We were returning from a weekend in the Capertee Valley so decided to grab this one after visiting Wp1 on the way up. We didn't do the calculations then to work out GZ but as the CO knows, we should have! The cache was snug and dry even though the container has a crack in the lid. What great views there are from up here. Thanks for the fun GeoScour. This is worthy of a favourite point for the great location. Adding one to your tally. Cheers.

Amazing view from up here. TFTC! Also the lid of the container needs repair, it’s got 1 crack in it.

The only safe place to park was heading eastbound and stopping about 100m west of the cache where the overtaking lane ends, then a dodgy run across the road just before a crest and corner, so can be very hard to see. Awesome walk up to a great view over the mountains. Saw a snake slithering back into the pile of rocks at WP1. The rock formation at GZ is incredible. I finally got the hint once I saw it. Great cache. TFTC

Didn't plan for this multi but why not. I do see where the cache name appeared from, and pleasure to knock this one off.
Discovered the screw lid is cracked but contents survived the previous day's rains, fp

Wow, this one has been around a while. Didnt really get the maritime shipwrecked theme but found cache no problems.
As others have mentioned, the old 4wd track is DEFINITELY not an option for any vehicle these days. I parked across the road 100m down in the pullout and walked up.

Day 1 of our roadtrip to Canberra and back, a recreation of one we did 3 years back, to now share with our youngest team member. With the Putty Road closed, we diverted through Sydney traffic (joy) and onto the (smoky) Bells Line of Road to Bathurst, our stop for the night. We managed 18 finds for the day, with just 1 DNF. A good start.
We had stopped here before, but it was raining (if only!) and the kids baulked at it. Today the visibility was even worse, from smoke.... We parked next to a mobile speed camera, and grabbed our stuff to walk up the hill. As we left another fellow called out - an RFS officer, they were assembling a team to backburn this area in an hour or so. Can we have 20 minutes?? OK - after trading UHF freqs we jogged up the hill, made a scramble for the cache, Samuel signed us in while I flew over and grabbed the trigs. This is a great spot, but no views today unfortunately. TFTC! No maritime connection is obvious to me?? Forget trying to drive up here too.....

Out caching with oldmorty and marj01. An early morning start is always on the cards when out with marj01 and today was no exception. After driving from the Eastern Suburbs to Lithgow, we made a U turn and headed back via the Bells Line of Road caching as we went.
6.40am - Out of the car and a climb to the top of the world just as the sun rose upon the Blue Mountains. An unbelievable location. I took a tumble as the rock I was holding onto gave way. No harm done. Just as well as it was the first cache for the day and we had another 47 to find. A favourite point from me for the unbelievable location. TFTC GeoScour

25-Apr-18
This was the first for the day and was hands down the best one, want a great location and rock formation. We, being Frazeydaze, Oldmorty and myself, arrived as the sun was just rising, on a beautiful morning. Thanks for the cache

25-Apr-18
Out from the eastern suburbs for a days caching with frazeydaze and marj01, and the chosen area was out west and in the mountains. Four of the caches in the mountains that were more than park and grabs, Shipwrecked, The Castle, Weather Beaten and Shrouded in Mist provided spectacular views over the mountains. This was our first cache for the day and provided 360° views as the sun rose on this Anzac Day. However, we nearly became shipwrecked here as frazeydaze fell overboard, well she slipped while climbing and went for a roll. Not too much damage done and we were able to continue our day. TFTC GeoScour and a fav point from me.

Heading up the mountains to go canyoning, and to my luck three in the group were geocachers. Although the others wanted to do here anyway to find the water trough.
We missed the trough on the first way past. Dellero and i went up to find the two caches, while the others backtracked to find the trough.
Thanks for the cache.

Crossing the Blue Mountains on our way to Mudgee, for a long weekend of camping. Stopped by the side of the road and walked up to the top of the mountain. The heat of the day had started to set in, but we managed to get up without too much trouble. Found WP1, located the required information and performed the necessary calculations. Headed over to GZ, where we soon found the cache. Signed the log, replaced and headed downhill back to the waiting car.

Out with Team Merlin to Blackheath we decided to grab the nearby Geocahing
Australia trig cache and this cache.

Determining the required information on a previous trip we knew the location of GZ we proceeded the short distance to GZ where a find was quickly made. With cache in hand we both signed the log before replacing as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition.

Out with JJCC for a drive up the hill to Blackheath for an errand and as we passed noticed all of the waratahs in bloom. Pulling over just near the start of the locked track, we walked along to the base of the hill to investigate and as we were so close decided to grab the nearby Geocahing Australia trig cache and this cache.

Having worked out the neccessary number prior to the visit we knew the location of GZ, but first off we found the trig and took some photos, after which we proceeded the short distance to GZ where a find was quickly made. With cache in hand we both signed the log before replacing as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition.

The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust) and Vanlith The Youngling.

#616 walked to the Geodetic Station with alnic39 and we watched the storm rolling over the Lithgow area from here. We worked out the number required and then got reasonably close co-ordinates. Walked to the end of the point and spotted our destination, worked the best way to get to the area and walked there. Found the cache quickly, signed log, took the TB and replaced as found. Thanks for the multi and bringing us to this spot, GeoScour. Before walking back down watched the storm for a bit more as it was where we were headed for next.

01-Feb-16
Staying at Mt Tomah for a few days, we had to return to Sydney this morning to deal with an emergency but were back in time to grab a couple of multis in the area. It was blowing a gale at the trig but, before too long, we had the cache in hand. The views are incredible, well worth the struggle up. I left a TB.

Thanks GeoScour.

01-Feb-16
I was very interested in seeing a trig station up close and personal. For me they are normally just specs in the distance. After calculating GZ we determined the safest way there and upon arrival soon found the cache. Thank you for placing this cache in such a spectacular spot but, realistically, I don't think you can drive up to the trig anymore.

28-Dec-15
I'd been plotting to do this and its neighbour since last visiting for the winter solstace.
Finally passing by again so stopped to stretch the legs. I went along trail a bit too far before realising where I was heading and what was involved to get there, so backtracked to a less steep approach.
After the climb, I wasn't looking forward to a long search and was rewarded with a well-covered hide right at the wreck site.
Thanks GeoScour.

The funny thing about this one is that I was here yesterday, not realising this cache was here too! Was logging last night and having a look around and saw this one, so returned today to find this one. Now that I was locally knowledgable, parked close to GZ and found the quickest / easiest route to GZ, taking nowhere near as long as yesterday. Really is a cracking view up here! Thanks.

Sometimes you just get things wrong I spent about 20 minutes on the coordinates I'm kept getting on the 7 km away went back to the road and sat in my car worked out straightaway do not think I was doing anything different so walk back up the hill to the beautiful rock formations found cache and now watching the storm. Tftc tnln

16-Nov-14
Cant say i took the easy route to this cache. i found a 4WD track to go down but it lead me around the base of the rock i wanted to be on top of so i went back to the nearest point and trekked up the hill instead. half way up decided it wasn't really thong country but too late for that now too. What a great spot this is, i loved my mini adventure getting to the top and finding the information needed. I'd actually passed the cache on the way to the top, thinking to myself "that looks like an interesting formation". I did notice the track I should have driven up but think the entrance from the highway is a bit too nasty for me.
tftc GeoScour, had a great time finding it.

The first of the day on an outing along Bells Line of Road, with Mrs ASO, Kieran6, and the elder geoson, Kieran6 and I made the run for this one, to find on arrival near GZ, amazing 360 degree views and can understand the namesake of the cache.

Many thanks for this cache GeoScour & little were we to know at time of finding that we would be returning to GZ at Sunset.

After WebGuy's canyoning event in Wentworth Falls, bikerbuddy & I headed over to Bells Line of Road for Division Bell. And while we were in the area, he suggested I should look for this one as well (he'd found it on a previous visit to the area).

Found the old trig (great to find one still intact with vanes), got the information & made the simple calculations. Set off to look & soon had the cache found.

Thanks for placing a cache in such a great location! Smile

Since 2009 I have had in my list of updated caches these finally coordinates that I needed to make my way to. I am canyoning in the Bluies all the time, but I never seem to find the time to nab this cache. Today was the day. In 35 plus degrees I enjoyed the views, watched the approaching thunderstorm, and finally put my name in this log book!

Where to go for day 43 of my caching streak? The WaywardWoman suggested this one, rather than something closer we could normally do after work. So we found a good place to park across the highway to tackle this one, because there was no way the Pulsator was getting up that goat track, no matter how carefully we took it.

When we got to the stated coordinates I was happy to see a trig. I took a photo to log it as a GCA cache. We then worked out the coordinates for the final hide easily, and were happy to see it wasn't too far away.

There were some amazing rock formations on this hill, and some good views, despite the overcast weather. NickoHeap and Garks liked this one. Thanks

# 1274- I had intended to stop for this one last time I was up here on my own, but really didn't have the time. Today, being strike day, we took the opportunity to go for a cache further away.(The boys had a slow start to the day and it was good to get out of the house and away from the computers.) Once we found a spot to park, it was a relatively short walk to the top, some quick, easy calculations at the top and another very short walk to the cache. Great views and a geography trig photo for my classroom!
Once NickoHeap spotted it, I recognised the spot from pjmpjm's photo. Great place- definitely a favourite! The rain stopped for us to make the find. Thanks.

A neat multi off the side of the road. I misread the instructions at first and was looking for a container that had the final waypoints. After a few minutes I realised that the answer was staring right in front of me. With the numbers collected and final GZ deduced I then took the long way to the cache - why did I go downhill?

Once at GZ it was obvious what the cache name was about. Wondered why a ship would be wrecked at 1000 m above sea level/ The container was found quickly and I spent a few minutes reading the logs, before adding mine and heading back to the car.

BTW - The trig at these coordinates is one of the best in the region, what a view of the area.

I was able to solve the WP1 clue easily, having been up to the site in question last year on a GCA mission. And I still don't know why I didn't attempt this cache then . . .

Today I climbed the hill again with rogerw3, after a drive down Bells Line of Road. Having already found the cache himself, he let me loose on my own, to see what I could do . . .

And, in fact, I saw a particular 'thing' in the near distance, in front of the endless views, that led me straight to the correct spot -- even without use of my GPSr.

Great views, as expected! And a great cache too, still in good shape after a long time. TNLNSL.

Many thanks to GeoScour. It was wonderful to have an excuse to climb up here again on a beautiful and sunny winter's afternoon.

An excellent stop and cache. We walked up the 4WD track as the base of the track is very eroded. Found the trig point and after a few arithmetric errors had a sensible coords for gz. A quick find ensued and then hung around trying to work out which of the rock formations resembled the shipwreck.

Finally a dry day to go out and find some caches. I made up a list of 6 caches that have come up over the last months in the Bell – Dargan area. This is my 6th cache and final find for today and after a short walk up the hill to the Geodetic Station and working out the final co-ord’s found the cache at 15:25. Fantastic views from this location. Cache is in good order. TNLN

30-Oct-10
For the short walk needed up the hill, forget the 4WD bit, it will be more trouble than it is worth & it is a bit tricky finding the trail in any case. Parked at the locked trail gate & made my way from there. I agree with rogerw3 this cache deserves more traffic, there loss our gain. Top 360° views at both WP1 & GZ & what views they are. By the way that’s 1 hell of a ship wreck; you couldn’t make it even if you tried. TFTC / TFTH / SL

Had great fun doing this one, very simple multi but the location is amazing, what a view.
Walked there from bell station, and quickly found the cache.
Took nothing, left Yowie and 2x Olympic pins.
Also left Yowie TB.
This cache deserves more traffic, well worth the effort. The track up the hill is now only 4WD, but it is only a short walk up there.

12-Dec-09
Was able to do some research on this one before leaving home to get the final co-ords but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as this is a simple offset multi. Great views from GZ and a spot that I have been meaning to get to for some time. TFTC!

For anyone being afraid if the cache is still there... I can tell you YES it is. There was even a log in the book between 13th of June and now, but you of course need to be able to log the cache. Nice peace of work..., found the cache in good condition, and even saw a spider doing his job (catching the anoying flies and bugs in the nearby area). I don't know about driving the track, but now I really think that you need 4WD with lot's of ground clearance. We did not even try with our hired car... Thanks and greetings from the Netherlands.

Spotting the track up to this one as i headed to "The Castle" It wasn't long and i was parked at the top next to the trig. Parking nearby we wound our way up the hill to another fine lookout. Wpt 1 was rather large and obvious and soon the required information was found and deciphered.
With the calculations made alpini, the Old sod and I went off to find GZ while Altaire watched.
Alpini spied this from afar and with The Old Sod, they contemplated the best means of retrieval. The Old Sod removed the cache from it's hidey hole and soon we all had the caching business completed and were admiring the surrounding views.

This was our second attempt at this one (previous one not logged as we didn't even make it to WP1) and a delight to find. Our previous attempt stopped us just metres short of WP1 due to a nice little brown snake guarding the station. Being the middle of winter and dark (it was probably midnight) we decided to very quickly make our way back to the car and try again at a later date. This was our later date and as mentioned was a delight to do. We love easy, quick multi's that take you somewhere speccy. TNLN.
