This one has me beat again. Got new coords. Ended up in a paddock (unsure if the land was even public) with nothing around but freshly chewed grass! Arrgh.
Hmmm actually looking at pics of previous finders, my coords come out on the wrong side of the road. Rechecked, and still the same. Might need checking.
I'm working on a couple of challenges at the moment, and the caches between Miranda and Kaiaua look to be quite useful. The plan was to round up this lot and sleep on the beach with the other campervan crowd... That was never going to happen... Not when you have teenaged girls...
What a mission... Found the tag at waypoint one and did the calculations. Noted that the final was over there... Drove to that point and searched the roadside for anything cache-like... FAIL. My coordinates put me out on the roadside.
Further up the road, checked my calculations... because I sometimes make mistakes. Umm... No, that still adds up. Drive two... This time we walk one hundred plus metres in both directions... FAIL. Let's carry on.
Later at dinner (Kaiaua Fish n Chips), I started reading logs and scanning photos. It emerged that the cache was not roadside and a bit of paddock crossing was required. Decided a PAF was needed here (Thanks Fap and Gap). A few things were confirmed, so back down the road for our third visit at ground zone. I wonder what the neighbours were thinking.
After a bit of searching, the cache was located. It was full of ants. I managed to sign the log, but dislodged several hundred ants in the process. This one hasn't been logged in a year... I'm glad we perservered with this one. TFTC.

Somebody had removed the DOC sign pertaining to working out where the cache is. Have used the other sign so it should be back in order now.
Adding a needs maintenance flag until it can be checked by CO, will send the CO an e-mail also, as the final coords don't appear correct
Appears there is a problem with the number on the sign. Will have it sorted out in August.
Same as the previous log...our final coords ended up 17km away! The sign looks like it has recently been set fire to, and the serial number on the back looks new so may need a check? I can send the number on the back via email if you want it. Cheers.
I wasn't too sure what was going on here for this one, unless they've changed the DoC number on the back of the sign. I tried this twice and both times I received a coordinate a bit futher north about 2km out into the water, so I obviously didn't try to grab the final for this one. I wonder if the number on the back of the sign has changed since the cache was published.

According to the sheet with our workings we solved this back in 2008. Finally got back here to work out where to stop. Fun cache container, liked it. Thanks for the puzzle. Glad we finally got a smiley on this one. SL. TFTC.
What a royal run-around. Mucked up the co-ords. Got there in the end.

Had a slight miscalculation with this one after not reading the instructions properly. After the mistake was realised we soon found the cache. Thanks for the nicely themed cache container.
Great day tramping in the Hunuas with Nova & C&D, with a bit of caching & many a tall tale along the way. Finishing off the day with a drive along the coast. Loved this little multi - great set-up & camo, TFTC
This was a great cache during a very big walk.
Was in the area with Cats&Dragons and Kiwi69 with collecting a whole lot of caches. We left Hamilton at about 5.30 and headed North not quite knowing if it was going to be a great day or a wet one.
After a big walk around the ranges we headed to the coast and started to collect the caches in the area. This was a nice quick cache that was in a beautiful area.

Out today with Nova Lightning and Kiwis69 for a bit of a meander through the ranges, plans were fairly fluid as hadn't known what to expect from the day, but in the end it turned out exceptional.
After finishing in the hills we headed for the flats, Nice little multi along a very enjoyable piece of coast

Spending some time watching the wading birds so had to solve this one. Nice camo but needs some maintenance as some ants are calling this home!!! Tftc
Quickly had coords solved and headed to the GZ. Loved the cache container - was not at all what I was expecting

Paddock full of heifers and bulls. Too big and scary for us??

No bulls today just the sh*t in to watch out for! Great looking cache - obviously popular with snails. TFTC.
Nice spot and nice multi - found cache all good with only snails to watch out for but seemed to be lots of them - paddock all clear today and had very leasant walk - TFTMC
Good hiding place. No cows in field when we came. Great birding to be had. TFTC.
This was by far the funniest and most adventurous cache today. The start is shared by two other quick caches, the final cannot be mentioned here without spoilering too much. So we just say: GREAT. Nice camo, nice adventure. Definitely worth a visit!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Nearly gave up on the "4" part of the clue.... Doh must've left our brains at home when we got it!!! Great final cache, kids amused by local farmer chasing cows around paddock on his quad bike. Tftc
This was the adventure cache of the day, albeit fo the rather unintended and unwanted kind. Quickly gathered the info from the first waypoint and then made my way to the calulcated final. No problem getting to the final, but as I was signing the log, one of the bulls decided to get a bit aggressive and came over to challenge me, and when it came time for me to go back across the fence, there was a definite bull-type stand off complete with snorting, pawing the ground, twitching and stomping - it may have had something to do with the youths I saw walking off across the paddock in the distance. Anyway, not wanting to risk it, I decided caution was the best plan, so had to exit GZ back to the road via a different route involving climbing over the barbed wire fence to the road. Fortunately I managed to do that without injury to9 self or clothes. A cache to remember! TFTC!!!
kool multi. +TB, where he can feel right at home with all the other bikers. interesting cache container. T4TC
Mr L fearless in pursuit of the cache, keeping a respecful distance from the young bulls. Enjoyed this short multi, liked the cache container too.
Solved. Great hide. Found with Kev & Chris. The Italian Job (TIJ) was here.
Came back to this one after driving past it yesterday. Navigated our way to the cache by trying to avoid a herd of cows. TFTC
A nicely thought out multi. Not too hard but interesting Was fun hopping fence to get away from the bolshy wee jersey bulls though!
Out with Bjarni1 and Chesterdog today to clean up the caches we haven't got out here. This one's been on the list and keep driving it for ages! Finally got down to get it.
Calculations easily done and final was soon in hand after a short drive and running around between 6 bulls that were in the paddock(Who wouldn't let us leave through their paddock so had to do a ninja over the fence), nice work on the final
Thanks for the multi and not some little box in a tree

Took me ages to figure out what to add the 4 to until the better half of thejaybees told me. Quickly solved and off to GZ. Took a while here as well as I was looking for something different and then I saw it. Such a neat hide. TFTC SLTN
NZ11. After dealing with the numbers the night before, and retiring to listen to very heavy rain all night, today was the chance to get to grab this one. Great container. Thanks.

A careless error pointed to the final being somewhere out to sea. Once that was sorted we were off for a fun find. Thanks - we really enjoyed the appropriate theme for this short multi - recommended!
Did solve this multi a couple of weeks ago. And now passed this one. hahahaha I was shakded: What was sitting there? ahaha it was the camo cache
Thanks, wonderful

A quick multi. This kind of camu we had already seen once so we found the cache quickly. T4TC and greetings from Switzerland!
Visited the waypoint on our way to the Blackberry Flats Campout Event - looks like an extremely popular place for campers to overnight! Realised the final was in the opposite direction, so opted to leave the cache find until the next morning. Had a pretty good idea what to expect, having read previous logs. Nicely done, thanks!

Beautiful day on the coast today. Took the long way home and did a few caches on the way home. Quickly gathered the required info entered the co-ords and went to the final. Cache has become the home of thousands of angry ants. Managed to get the logbook out eventually (once all the ants were removed). TFTC
Today was not really a birdwatching day, heavy rain and storm did not make it a pleasant walk for us and also the birdies did not seem pleased. But we liked the final and also visited the small information centre, so it was worth it. Tftc!
2262 A nice quick multi, although Mrs Geckoh was nominated to collect the final, due to being the only one still wearing gumboots!! TFTC
Startled at GZ!!!! Then visited the bird centre and hide and saw thousands of birds. Thanks for bringing us here.
XC and TK heading north in the truck "Commanders Rest" the biggest caching machine we have seen..!! After spending the night at daughters place near Tauranga we decided to stop a night on the shell banks for the night before heading to Auckland... Once we parked I turned on the GPS and lo and behold a couple of caches right here... This one and an earth cache.. So this morning we walked the couple of hundred metres to the waypoint and worked out final and walked over to GZ... Nice hide.. TK signed the log and I swapped trackables... Out Roamin Hippo TB... In Herr Rochen GC

Really enjoyed this one, and really enjoyed meeting a fellow cacher! Found with TreMichLan. TFTC!
As we were out here looking at the seabirds, couldn't resist doing an aptly named cache. Ended up meeting TreMichlan and JDSavannah who had just finished the cache when I arrived for the hunt. Cheers Gav [4863]
Hello Ducky! After following RedIguana and SouthernKestrel for four days we finally crossed paths at this quacker of a cache. Nice to put a face to a handle and to exchanged intelligence. Who said geocaching is a non-contact sport? Red's wounds from Te Puke made all in the car wince. That is quite a souvenir! Interesting to see the flock of campvanners nestled on the foreshore. Who is watching who? TFTC
What a great place with all the bird life with grandstand views from the campervans. Loved the "camo". Thanks for bringing us here T4TC
Found quite easily after I made some addition errors and we went km's the wrong way!! Even after I made the find, I couldnt understand what the hint meant. Love the cache!! Quack!! Thanks.
#11 Both are great locations and the final hide had us fooled from a distance. Enjoyed the hunt and if it were not for the distance still to be we would have lingered longer. TFTC
A nice straightforward offset cache without much walking - good job today as it was very wet! The long grass in particular managed to soak shoes & trousers. Nice spots for both clue & final, and a great choice of container - many thanks.
Found this with pete the navigators mother. Nice theme and left behind a sticker that I left attached to the log. TFTC
ORNITH and I enjoyed a great vacation together, traveling to New Zealand and Australia for fifteen days, and what a great time we had! As we normally do, we chose interesting caches and quite a few that involved hiking (aka "bushwacking" or "tramping") , rather than racking up a high number of caches. We found the oldest cache in Australia and the first Earthcache ever set! I was visited by a leach and we were both attacked by some black and white crows. We enjoyed rain, sunshine, empty roads, traffic jams, vegemite and meat pies. Our fancy lime-green rental car attracted quite a bit of attention, including a stop by a police officer who mistook ORNITH for another type of person........Oh, so many fun memories!
Our first day (the day we logged this cache) was a bit rainy, but it did not dampen our spirits. We did have a tad bit of a problem with the math, but finally prevailed (perhaps we were a bit fuzzy-minded after our long flight). We brought our NUVI, the GPS that we plug into the rental car for street navigation, along with us, but she took a bit to figure out her coordinates, too.....as you will see from the photo I will log!
Thank you for the cache and the good memories!

I like to get a variety of Caches on each of our trips but this one was about birds -- so, we had to do it. Thanks. This was one of the few Multi's that we did out of about 60 Caches that we Logged on our almost 2 week trip to New Zealand and Australia. We picked some of the more interesting and demanding Caches including Puzzles and Letterbox Hybrids plus 12 Earthcaches and enjoyed everyone that we tried.
Thanks to all the Cachers that set the Caches that we found (And didn't 'Find'!!). Photos will be added to the Logs after everything gets accounted for, OK?
Cache On and CITO as you Cache,

Heaps of camper vans and buses at wp1 and a few moooogles at final cache. Had a great time over here today it was great to be at the sea side.
Second attempt at this. Don't know why I had trouble with this the first time (which I apparently didn't log), since I remember finding the hint...
I think this cache is a little overfull; the container had a "quack" in it

We enjoyed this hunt for two reasons, it took us to two locations that were both worth the visit and working out the clue was a new challenge for us, well done. Loved the bird theme.
Good walk on a lovely sunny morning. Took along a 1st time cacher and let her sort out the find from the ANTS, A very thoughtful hide. Thanks
Nice straight foward multi with an the odd DECOY thrown in! on the way home from kawakawa caches, nice stop for lunch at the Kaiaua pub! - sure the visitors across the road must have thought i was on a toilet stop! TNLN Cheers Muzy Man!
An early morning visit after staying at the nearby Miranda Hot Springs. Saw plenty of sea birds on the shellbank, but the visitor centre was not yet open. Excellent cache container! Took Kiwi TB to help with its mission. SL. TFTC.

We were doing some bird banding with the nearby observatory, so this cache was particularly interesting. We captured and banded about 650 Bar-tailed Godwits and Red Knots, including three birds that had been fitted with a satellite tracking system. They migrated from Miranda all the way to the northern slope of Alaska and back and were recaptured. The ornithologists we were working with were elated! It was very exciting to be part of that activity. Make sure you stop at the bird center when you do this cache!
Thanks!

this cache. Please, dear Geocacher, grab me and bring me

So I'm totally depending on you. Can you deny my request?

Called in here after doing a bit of work at Miranda Hot Pools. When I got to the easily identifiable GZ, I was somewhat stumped for a while as to where the cache was hidden. Bloody hell, those flax bushes are very near by...
Found after another look starting back where I began. Actually quite a nice and obvious placement! And love the container - great idea! Log book only slightly damp. Pen wouldn't write in it too well, but no problems using the pencil. Counted 31 campervans at the original coordinates!
Thanks for showing me this bit of coastline.

TB Onewingravie is in this cache and wants to be moved to a cache nearby Auckland Airport p.e. International Departure Lounge (GCVAAC). Will you be able to do this for me?
Hence Onewingravie can travel on to America and then home.
Would you be so kind to read his goal and than place it?
Thanks for paying attention. Balanza, owner of Onewingravie.

Nice place to observe the birds as we could see because a friendly birdwatcher asked us if we wanted to use his binocculars. We had a good look at some of the birds and we recognized them because of the info-panel.
After finding the information and puzzling the coordinates we had a quick find of the special container: very nice one.
