Logs
Forgot to log this one earlier, logging it now on the 13th of Oct.What was going to be an easy Sunday arvo adventure to check out Rocky Pool with Sbeebee turned into a last minute change of plan mid walk with a 120m elevation hike and an 8pm finish.A chill walk to Rocky Pool for an explore and I suggested we can take the scenic walk back and grab some more caches as the pool was busy so we didn't want to risk the search. So we continued on the Rocky Pool Walk Trail and came to the creek's crossing downstream from the pool. The couple we followed down showed us the way across a very narrow with no holdings log. Staying dry, we made the never ending steep, rocky hike up to the north end of Gooseberry Hill only to walk down hill towards the cache! We almost arrived at the turn off to GZ but saw a mountain bike track cross the road and the sound of water just beyond so we followed it up for a squiz and found a tranquil spot with water flowing through bushes, a great surprise! We then followed the other side of the track towards GZ and bush bashed our way down and begun our hunt for a good half hour, my phone wasn't pinpointing where we were with the limited signal we had and had literally sent me through the nearby trees and bushes, still came up empty handed. I was ready to throw the towel in at this point as the sun had set and we still had quite a walk back through unknown trails while rapidly losing light. Sbeebee convinced me we'd come this far and to stay a little longer (thankfully), but our GPS's would always take us back to a specific section of rock, so I used my caching eyes to look around that area and what do you know, 2m east of where it would take us was the little devil. This cache is well protected and not going anywhere. We left our names and continued back to the car, not knowing our night's adventure was just beginning, TFTC!
Took us a bit to find because we believed it would be found by looking in the most obvious place (name of the cache), but eventually found it by listening to the nav!
Can confirm it is not in a sistema container.
Thanks for the cache

Huge day doing some T5s with a group pushing me to go places I usually wouldn’t on my own. Ended up following them back down the hill to grab this as our final for the day with N2O, B12 & C10. I will admit it was a bit slippery from the recent rains but given I had just completed some T5s I had my brave face on and just got the job done. Thanks for placing this - beautiful view well worth the walk.
S 031° 57.442' E 116° 04.054' might be a bit closer to the co ords. A tough find in the scratchy bush.
Out for a days caching to Northam with the main goal of finding Blasted Rock the t5 abseiling cache.
Nice walk here with a lot of water on the track making it a bit slippery

This one took much longer than what I expected, but persistence paid off and I made the find in the end TFTC
I had a little time to spare on this drizzly cold day, so decided to do the Rocky Pool walk [:o)]. This was the first stop after a bit of uphill huffing and puffing, and i admired the view at GZ for a while before searching for the cache.
Around and around i went in ever increasing circles and back again for far too long before eventually spotting the hide in a place i had passed a couple of times [?]. The GPSr was showing 4m. I added our name to the log and rehid just before a decent shower of rain moved over the top of me .. time to find a tree
TFTC trail_geek [^] .. all good with this one now that it has a new container.

Found this one today out doing Rocky Pool walk. The container was completely disintegrated and bits blowing around. Thankfully I had read the previous logs before coming out and brought a small sparsie with me and have replaced the container with all the salvageable items. New brown container shown in pic along with remains of the container. Thanks for bringing us here trail_geek.
Found during our Rocky pool walk. Log book is soaked, container needs to be replaced.
Took way longer than it should but eventually found the cache right where the coords said it would be.
Container is almost disintegrated and in need of replacement. Great views from here. TFTC

Really enjoyed getting off road to find this cache. Could use a new container as current one us damaged. Tftc.
Great walk in despite the rain. Great views from the cache across the valley. I would come back to the track leading in because I was "lost".
Thanks

It was a tough walk through the bush from Spring Road following the pointer on the compass with a couple of kids. In hindsight, we should have taken the path uphill behind the houses to the left at the first waypoint.
Going directly to the cache did take us through some lovely bush and past some hidden streams, so it was worth it in the end. It may not be so much fun in the summertime though.
Dropped off a TB and a cat badge.

A good search of the area failed to reveal the cache - our second DNF for the morning while out geocaching with a friend in Kalamunda National Park. A beautiful day for a trek through the bush though!
Grabbed this cache whilst out mountain biking at night in the area. Great fun on a wet winters night with geocaches setting the course and trying navigate the fire trails by GPS.

3 adults and 3 kids searched for half an hour without luck. What a pity! Nice spot though.
I just looked through all the logs and photos. I'm sure we were at the right spot (I'm new to geocaching, but experienced with GPS). My daughter didn't want to give up, but the sun was setting. So once someone else logs a find here we'll go back some time.
By the way, we did the full 5km walk (Bibbulman/Rocky Pool Walk from end of Spring St) and it was lovely! Good for bushwalking families.

1st find of the day, and it was my second only day of geocaching. my friend and i tried to find it yesterday, but with no luck, but it turns out we were standing right on top of it! TFTC
I got my 30 today, I hiked across from the other side of the valley.
Great view of the Valley

TFTH - A nice view of the park, the bees and bugs were out in force today, must be springtime
Nice spot.
We parked at the end of Spring Rd and did the full 5km walk, but I wouldn't recommend it without a walking stick or hiking pole. The track is very steep in places and the surface is like being on marbles. The missus landed on her toosh 3 times. I managed to stay upright, but nearly came a croppa at least half a dozen times. The worst of it is only if you continue on beyond this cache all the way around to Rocky Pool. Better to turn back after this cache and head to Rocky Pool in the other direction.

What a hike!!?? Walked in from Schipp Road, up the Biblamen Track and then bushbashed to the top of the ridge and met up with the Rocky Boulder Track. I haven't been up this way so it was nice to have a look. Nice easy find once I reached the GZ (after some serious huffing and puffing!!!). TNLN but grabbed the TB. TFTC
Lovely walk through the forest with the family, easy find and lovely picnic looking down the valley TFTC

The second cache of the morning after picking up the Survey marker cache with the Benoro Dragons. T: Football, L: Fishing lure. TFTH.
Decided to head on to do this one after doing another near by cache. Pretty hot today though which made the going a bit harder than it may have otherwise been. TNLN. Thanks trail_geek
near GZ the GPS was jumping all over the place so it took a while to find. The view was well worth it and what a boulder! Great walk in too. TFTH
What a walk!. Better now than when it gets a bit hotter! thanks for the hunt. TNLN Lots of wildflowers to be seen.
found it after some cross country footfalls.lost the main track but all good in the end. Sat and enjoyed the View. TFTH.
A great walk with this cache on the way. A bit of bloodletting through the scrub but a great view and the wildflowers - fantastic!
T: plastic tent pegs
L: Donnybrook spoon
Thanks for this Bib training run - that hill is steeeeeep!
And yes who left the plastic spider guarding the cache - eeeek!

Did this after a nearby cache and enjoyed the walk and the scenery. The GPSr went a little haywire when we got near to ground zero and led us a merry chase for a while. When it settled down we found the cache right on the given co-ords. Thanks for bringing us here Aushiker.
Great walk through the bush, down and up and up and up. What a hill, found the cache ok at the end. Sat back and enjoyed the view.
TNLN Thanks Steve

A beautiful walk in the winters sun. An easy find with all the young mogs eyes to help and an accurate gps putting us within 2m. Thanks for the cache. Took the pen and left the necklace and two lizards. Mog [:x]
Phew.! found this one just at the point of when i was considering giving up. I hadnt put this on my PDA and had it in my mind that i was looking for a micro cache for some reason.
I had walked down from another cache up the hill, and every step down i thought about the corrosponding step back up.! Not a good thought process late in a day.!
The sun went down over the hill behind me at 7.40pm and i thought it would be pretty dark by the time i climbed back up to my car in Hill St. How wrong i was.! Kinda like getting two sunsets in one day.! I was back in Bassendean buying iced doughnuts at 8.15pm and enjoyed a "second" sunset coming back down Gooseberry hill where the sun was still several degrees above the skyline. (Mind you...i was still sweating profusely from that climb back up).
Thanks for a great cache location..TNLN and signed the logbook.

Very nearly DNF'd then thought better of it and REALLY looked (sometimes you get a bit complacent after a few "easy" finds). TNLN

Final and 5th of 5 caches – taking “Take 30†series today. It took a while to find the cache and found by Everlasting. The container is in very good condition. Great view from the GZ and enjoyed it. Thanks to Aushike for the other exercise, great location, and cache.
After returning to the parked vehicle and about to drive away, met Bear_Left walking toward the bushland and had a short chat about the caches what we did today.

Found the cache at 3.50pm. Excellent view. Took travel bug. Thank you for organise the cache and hunt.
Set off up the hill for a bit of exercise on a lovely Spring day. Great time of year to be in the hills - wildflowers emerging, creeks gurgling, snakes still mostly sleeping and sun not too hot. Had about a 15minute search around GZ for this but eventually found, then sat to enjoy the outlook while signing log. Took GC and left Jasper's Journey TB
Thanks for the hunt Aushiker.
Thanks for the hunt Aushiker.
Finally,I don't know if it was the software upgrade on the GPSr or I had worked out how it works around rocks but I'm happy now and I had the usual error distance I have with all Aushiker caches. Swapped the trackables and took the happy snap of wiggytig & Larissa.

The second of a hopeful eight in this area today, we missed the track at one point and had to bush bash up from below the location.
I found the big boulder and started my search, it did not take too long and it was found.
I enjoyed the views and headed off to Hill Street.
I left behind a travel bug to continue on.
Thanks Aushiker

Found this in company of TeamGunnParker and Trail_Geek.
The uphill bush bash was pretty tough. Great view. Took a photo for the log. Also took the survival tool left by Bear Left and swapped a car drinks cup holder for it.

1:28 pm. Next day after a rainy night - waterfalls running beautifully. We did the whole Rocky Pool circuit (clockwise) then repeated a bit to go to the cache. It took a bit of sniffing around, but finally we found it. Wished I brought something to exchange - some cool trinkets in there!

Backtracked a little after doing the Hill Street cache and continued on down the hill to take this one out as well.
Arrived at GZ and checked out the giant "marble" before letting the GPSr settle.
Mmmm! All those potential hiding places. After a minute or two of circling I had a steady reading of 1m to the cache. Placed my GPSr down and continued looking. As it happened I had placed the GPSr right on top of the cache hiding spot.
Continued on along the trail and looked longingly across the valley where "Helena" beckoned me (another day, another cache) before circling back to my starting point at Hill Street.
Thanks AUSHIKER for another good cache.

Aushiker - it's your fault and now you are being held responsible for our newly acquired addiction. Mate that was brilliant. We loved the walk - did the whole thing on a very wet and rainy - blustery Sunday afternoon. What a fantastic way to spend the day. Took us near on the full 2 1/2 hours as per the CALM noted time but that was with us stopping to check GPS, 50 million loo stops (I drank too many cuppas beforehand), admiring the views, treading very carefully on the wet steep decline and stopping to throw on jackets each time we smelled rain. The only bummer was Bozo here (me) put in a five (5) instead of a four (4)in the Easting which suggested the cache was some 1.5 kms further out and my antennae told me we were heading back towards the starting point of the walk. We checked my GPS inputs when we were about 300m up the single track (I think this was the Bibbulman track part) after we left Schipps Road heading back to the car. The GPS said it was up the steep looking hill and about 250m away. By this time it was 4pm and we were getting a little low on daylight. Safety suggested we didn't push our luck on our first ever wilderness hike so we have set a plan to come back and do it all again. Totally loved the whole experience and recommend it to anyone. This walk has one or two small puffing sections but the rest is relatively easy and totally awesome. If you haven't done it - DO IT!

I parked at the designated parking spot, but still took the difficult route to get to the cache. I started off following the track, but lost sight of it in the dark, so had to follow the arrow the last 350m.
My pants are now saturated thanks to the rain, and I definitely got my '30'.
Left U4D TB, Took Tigris GC. T4TH

Came down from the other cache. Second visit here. Came back with a second pair of eyes. I am consistently 5m out on my GZ with an Aushiker cache which I always allow for and this time I allowed for the rocks which also seem to intefere with my GZs but we couldn't find it.
Since I was just on holiday and travelling this week, I've left the reviewing in i,riblit and embi's capable hands for the week.
So, when Bear_Left got a notification of a new cache only 1.5km from home, it came as a pleasant surprise and a call to action! It was 1745, MBL had a client until 1800 and the light was fading but still there...
It's only "all on tracks" if you take 30... seconds to look at a map rather than thinking "I know where that is!" and charging off into the bush. When I got to where I "knew it was," I still had 700m of steep, rocky bush between me and the cache!
I went past the fabled Rainwater Tanks Graveyard, then finally found the track. I went along that for all of 20m before plunging back into the dusk-darkened bush and nearly twisting ankles, knees and back a few times on unseen rocks and gullies. Arriving at GZ, I unpacked a torch and found the cache within seconds (thank Goodness!) and signed the empty logbook and claimed the FTF pin. I left a Bear_Left utility card in return, then re-hid the box and set off back up the hill, this time on tracks!
A quick call to MBL to tell her that dinner might need to be 1930 instead of the promised 1900, a couple of unmarked (on my GPSr map) but well-formed tracks and lots of puffing later, I arrived home, sweaty but happy.
Thanks for the Take 90, Aushiker!
