Thanks

The state Highway was busy. Lucky no one around to see me.

20-Oct-08
Great spot. Cache was easily spotted and looks like some muggle entries in the logbook but all nice and secure despite that. Tried to hide a little bit better with some dried grass as camo on top.

Reserve area itself looks well tended and appears to be looked after by the street residents with all sorts of interesting furniture and items placed around. But horrible smell, maybe it's their local compost bin as well.

Thanks for the visit.

02-Oct-08

Felt very watched as I was doing this one - but cache was easy to find - perhaps too easy - I covered in with grass as it was in plain view. Perhaps those that live behind the cache already know about it.

This cache brings back memories, we all used to come out her quite often during the motorway construction to watch the big machinery and if I remember right we often stood very close to the caches position. One of the things that still fascinates me is the hidden underground bridge. The â€Ghost Railway – Walton Park†cache refers to the many coalmines that used to be in this area and where the motorway passes under the Old Brighton Rd bridge it also passes over a bridge completely hidden underground. This bridge was built over an old coalmine too prevent the road collapsing into it.
Thanks for the cache and the memories.

Walked past it and we spent a wee while looking and almost got muggled as an old guy came over and asked what we were doing on out way back to the car. Wasn't too worried about being seen from road as people were zooming along. Nice spot.

2nd to find. GPS 16m out for us.

22-Apr-07
FTF. Felt a little exposed here! Should have worn my hi-vis vest and no-one would have taken a blind bit of notice of me. As an earthmoving machinery buff since a small boy (and some people never grow up) I spent a bit of time "trainspotting" in this area when the works were occurring. The job was completed very quickly (given the scale of the project). It was actually all built in a fraction of the time it took the "authorities" to plan, consult, obtain consents and generally faff about over it. An article on the old Ruston Bucyrus shovel on display nearby (visible from the cache) has featured in a British magazine called Classic Plant and Machinery. My GPSr was indicating 17m to GZ at the cache site. Using the hint helped. Just followed along the hint "item" until the cache appeared. Unfortunately the logbook is a little damp. TFTC.

22-Apr-07
Ah I was probably on the right route (I have just read the hint and it makes sense), but didn't think it was right (and so I gave up) as the distance didn't make any sense. I will be back !
