Today we headed out for our last day on the Tasman Peninsula and had a few caches to attempt to clear up before we leave. We drove Beryl the Moho to Eaglehawk Neck and then headed out in the Jimny to try and get as many as we could. Some of the puzzles were too hard for my wee brain but other than a dnf at the dog multi we had much success. We have been super impressed with the caches on the peninsula they have really made us think outside the box. Our thanks to all the CO for placing and maintaining caches for us to find, much appreciated .I once threw myself off a similar cliff in Guatemala, it was terrifying but exhilarating at the same time, luckily the bird man I was with knew what he was found. Amazing to fly with the birds. TFTC and for bringing back those memories
I am in Port Arthur to see the sites, and collect a few caches to mark my visit.Having done many walks around Port Arthur, I definitely wanted to do the "Cash's Lookout" walk, and then to head onto the "Hang Gliders Lookout".After the strenuous climb up the mostly evident marked track to "Cash's Lookout" (but failing to locate that cache), I started following the track towards the "Birdman Cache".The track to Birdman was very undefined and hard to follow, and I lost the track many times. Yet thankfully the distant ribbon markers in the trees were able to be spotted, so I was able to locate the track again (both on the way up, and back down). At the "Hang Gliders Lookout" (with the aid of the hint) the cache was found.(Yay, after the failure to find "Cash's Lookout" cache, this was welcome.)
Found, but will need some attention, the container was open when I arrived, dried out and resealed.BYO Pen
Been wanting to visit this lookout for a long time! Thanks for giving us the perfect excuse! Tftc
Drove up to see if we could spot Blackjack coming in. Alas nope we were to early. Oh well there’s a cache nearby!
Don’t know how long my signature will last. I used the pink chalk enclosed!

Spent some time at the lookout. Such incredible views. Cache quickly found. Signed log TTM and replaced as found. TFTC.
Today we decided to head down the Tasman Peninsular and spend the day down there exploring the area and collecting the many new and outstanding geocaches in the region that we have not yet found. We always enjoy this area no matter what the weather it is always lovely. We set off early being mindful of the tide times for those coastal caches that are preferable at low tide. It was overcast and blustery but pleasant all the same.
The last time we tried to get into this forestry area it was closed due to logging so we have had it and the four caches in the immediate area on our radar since then.
We made our way to this one after the Cash’s Caches, cutting slightly across the fold of the hill to get there. Once again amazing views from here and with the maintenance work to improve the path that is happening at the moment it will surely become a more frequented look out . TFTC and showing us these great views.

Today we headed down the Tasman Peninsula to pick up a few caches with Porkchop6977. We had big plans to pick up a few new ones and, having a 4WD at hand, pick up a couple of slightly less accessible caches in the area. Somehow the day got a bit away from us and poor old Porkchop only ended up getting one new cache, but we managed to snag an additional half dozen he'd picked up previously.
This was one that we'd planned to employ the 4WD for, and we're glad we did so - with a couple of quite deep waterlogged craters along the way a quite washed-out section at one point, we'd not have gotten far otherwise! It was well worth it though - the views at the end are spectacular! Thanks so much for showing us to this place, you've got an FP from us!
Naturally it took a little while to tear ourselves away from the view, but eventually we went in search of the cache. Fortunately the GPSr was right on the money, and almost immediately we had the container in hand.
Thanks for a great cache!

Very spectacular view over Pirates Bay! Have seen the hang gliders on so many occasions but never ventured to their launching platform (to my shame). No gliders here today so had time to take in the scenery and look for the cache. Thanks for finally bringing me up here Sog n Paulus. Another fav point to add to your haul.
out and about with 2 Lil Rafas caching in the peninsula area a great day with good weather and views. finally I returned to find these caches, a previous attempt to find Birdman went wrong when all batteries went flat while walking to GZ so I had to pack up and go home, this made me create the system i have in the car now that charges the Phones or GPSs as you are driving. this time we had no trouble and signed the cache and replaced it in it's hiding spot. TFTC TNBPLN log dry, beautiful views. could have stayed a lot longer. then walked to the next cache, Cash's Cache.
Thank you for the cache Sog n Paulus.
Out and about on the Tasman Peninsula today with RLD4963.
Wow! what a view. I've never been to this lookout before, so glad to be in the company of RLD4963 in his 4WD today and finally visit this spectacular location.
The cache itself was pretty quick to find, and after adding our names to the log we then stood and soaked up that view, spectacular! A favourite from me.

Wow! Absolutely stunning up here! Perfect day for this cache too! Thanks so much for taking us here! Found with my gorgeous S_38. What a beautiful day it has been!
Awesome. Great view. Love it, and such a beautiful day here today. Thanks Sog n Paulus
31/12/19 visiting from QLD and grabbing some caches when we can. Up here for the view but also can’t resist the cache. Great view. Reasonably quick find although I feel the terrain is a little more than 1.5. TFTC
Wow, what a great view from up here! Enjoyed the drive too and glad we took the big car. The cache was a quick find with accurate coords. TFTC!

As we turned into Pirates Road we passed a sign that said ‘Road Closed Ahead’ as the cache had been found a week ago we assumed that the closure was beyond the cache. That is the case, there is a bridge out after the Taranna Forest Walk.
However the road has had very little maintenance and at the moment we would suggest only attempting this in a high clearance vehicle.
The view from GZ is spectacular and worth a FP from us.

Spending a few days camping at Lime Bay and exploring the area. Grabbing a few caches while looking around. The road had a closed sign near the start of the track, but that’s like a red flag to a bull, we pressed on and made it to the top no problems.
The views from the lookout are mind blowing, one of the best views I’ve seen, we could see where we had lunch at the blowhole. Was worried about snakes when looking for the chance, we saw one on the track coming up, but no problems, found the cache quickly.

After finding the other 2 caches at the North of this area we called back at this before we drove down the hill, it was a short search and before you know it we had added our names to the logbook.
Thanks for another great location for me to enjoy.

We'd traipsed back up the hill from Cash's Caches #1 and were hot and sweaty, carrying a few layers that we were originally wearing on the way down. Back here and the place was quiet, just us, so we went straight for the cache. GZ was easy enough to work out and he hopped down to it from the path. After signing we return to the take off point to admire the view again. What a glorious panorama. Thanks again Sog n Paulus
Milestone cache #500. Lost excellent view, thanks for a memorable cache on the last day of 2017
#18 of our week trip. Beautiful views. . Very slippery waych your step in wet weather. ..
Well worth the effort to find #18 of our Southern trip and even thou it's a wet and cold day it is still an amazing view!!! Tftc x100!!! A fav point for the view and brining is to a magic spot!!
Found it late afternoon - stunning views well worth what is quite a tough drive in.
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
Staying at Taranna today we set off to visit the blowholes, Tasman Arch and Devils kitchen. A few side trips to pick up some caches too of course.
Great spot, and thankfully no birdmen about today.

Great view, interesting drive in, cool hiding spot. Watch out for ants, they bite.
Left the Geo Van at Whites Beach, while we continued to explore the peninsula. Today found us at the Blowhole, Tasman Arch and the Devils Kitchen, then onwards and upwards to the Taranna Forest.
Arrived close to GZ - 22 metres to go, but downhill, so took the next bend, 22 metres to go, uphill now. Gave geohub the GPSr, while I managed the camera. You could say we were muggled by a birdman, he was pretty close. Geohub emerged from the scrub victorious, more birdman arrived, so we set ourselves up with late lunch, and watched birdmen launch themselves.
Thanks Sog n Paulus for this special place. Favourite from me.

Didn't find this one with churchie76 and zmhammo on their caching trip around Tassie. But really enjoyed the views! Beware on the path after the recent rain, I had a spectacular tumble/roll on it. I WILL BE BACK!!! TFTC
Well I refuse to do anymore caches with Birdman in the title. After doing this one and Radio Birdman at St Helens I've worked out why the birdman bit -they are up high and I don't do heights or edges well. Sent mr sharnie's tribe after this one while I stayed back on the track. Loved the views though, quite spectacular. TFTC
This one has been on my to-do list for some time. Finally got a chance this long weekend. Views certainly didn't disappoint. TNL 1922 halfpenny. TFTC.
Gotcha !!! TFTC What a view . The clouds cleared just as we arrived. A favourite from me. Visited TBs and GCs. TFTC
Found on a caching adventure down the Peninsula, sorry about the late log. Great spot, excellent view. Favorite point from us, TFTC.

Absolutely epic views makes me want to get into hangliding until I heard the story of sea eagles attacking a glider and nearly ripping his wings.... don't know if its true but wouldn't put it past them protecting that spot up there I would do the same : )
cheers to the views

Driving? What is this driving that everyone talks about?
Following David Leaman's book, I thought I would keep walking uphill from Cash's Lookout. I met a man there who said there wasn't much of a track, and he was right - while I found a worn path here and there and a few cairns, I spent most of the time following the arrow and covering myself in charcoal.
Eventually, about 45 minutes from the car (left at Blowhole Road), I came out at a spectacular viewpoint.
I took some photos to show Mrs RC and then scrambled to GZ for the find.
Then I went on up the road to Norfolk Bay Lookout.
Thanks.

This time I beat the trainee caches, but they still got a buzz from it.
This cache is within the bushfire area but is still intact.

This cache is in the middle of the fire zone on the Tasman Peninsula and entry won't be allowed for the general public for at least another week. Recommend the owner disable the cache until it can be checked.
Out and about with newly engaged geodaughter and fiancé collecting a few caches after their engagement announcement. Nice easy find.

My car really enjoyed the chance to drive this soft trail, drove up and out here into the clouds. The views were interesting and broken through the clouds. Stopped down the runway first before heading back up to find and sign the cache. Thanks for bring us out here.

By the time we got to the end of Pirate's Road, my smartphone was on its last legs. It lasted long enough to get us in the proximity of GZ (WOW!!!), but then it gave up the ghost. We poked around all the places we thought it might be based on the clue, but didn't find it.
We stopped to take in the BREATHTAKING view from here. Funnily enough, we didn't see one other person on the road to this lookout (thankfully, as I was all over the road avoiding holes and raised up parts that easily scraped the bottom of my car). This made the lookout even more special, especially since we had just been to the Tesselated Pavers, the blowhole and Devils Kitchen with about a dozen other strangers enjoying the views.
I hope to be back one day, and hopefully will have enough charge left in the phone to track this one down.

Having completed the cache Norfolk Bay Lookout (GC3BZPD) the road continued on - so did we. After a short time we came to a parking area which was only a short distance from this cache, Despite the quickly falling light, we decided to look for this cache and it didn't take very long to locate. Outstanding views from this great vantage point. TFTC Sog_n_Paulus
A fantastic view from here. Well worth the jolting car trip up. Another cache or two to get on the way up as well. Left asian pen TB. TFTC.
After parking the caravan at a property at Taranna ($10 per night for self contained vehicles) we made our way out to do some caching. This was one we targetted and enjoyed the forest tracks. A wonderful outlook and plenty of photo opportunities of the bay below. Found the cache after searching in another place that fitted the clue description. Thanks Sog n Paulus
Found on our 30th Wedding Anniversary, heading to the Tasman Peninsula and picking up some caches on the way. A great view which we enjoyed on a clear sunny day, then headed off to Cash's Cache.
Was a bit of a struggle getting up but the view was well worth and we had a beautiful sunny day to match it!
An easy find. A double bonus with this cache - meeting up with Beetles2 (who first spotted the cache) and the excellent views. TNLN. Thanks.
A fairly steep climb for the poor old van with the losing traction warning light coming up a few times. The views made the climb worth while though. A bonus was running into Barad Bunch who were after the same cache. Thanks.
I wish I had time to also get the nearby cache. Great view. Looking forward to my boat cruise tomorrow.
WOW! What a view! We decided that this is the best lookout we've been to since we started our trip a month ago. SL TN Left Sydney & Melbourne Koala TB's TFTC
