Found 7/5/24 @ 12:45PMApologies for the very late logging (I'm terrible at the logging side!)Wow! This is now what I was expecting as we drove up. Stunning! Thanks Dorik for the cache.
Lost coverage . Was in the vicinity but despite searching for some time couldn’t find it. Our distance may have been a little out.
We did the loop walk around this interesting area. My gps was saying to go off track by 10m but I had read the hint and it said not to. Hmm after standing there a bit and wondering if I should try back a bit when I saw the likely hiding spot. Cache found and log signed.

Family reunion after 3 long years! Ms Emu’s parents came over from Germany and the Emus took them on a couple of road trips down the Mornington peninsula, along the Great Ocean Road, to the Grampians and on an adventure around Alice Springs, Uluru and Kings Canyon.
Found on our last day in Alice Springs while exploring the East Macs. Such a great place to visit and we enjoyed walking around this rock. The cache was a quick find and we were glad it didn't need us venturing from the path. TFTC

This is an amazingly cool rock formation, I am not surprised it has such significance
The flies here were the worst we encountered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aquilus1 & I are on a 24hr lightning visit to Alice Springs (or Mparntwe) just because it sounded interesting as well as grabbing a few of the LGA's in the middle of the country.
This time it was my crazy idea, but Aquilus1 was willing and able to do 'crazy' at short notice.
We got to the airport at an ungodly hour, and then two planes later we landed in Alice. We flew past half of Cathay Pacific's entire fleet during the landing....no rusting out here I guess!
We had a great day doing multiple gorges and 'gaps', driving on the old highway north to get some great D/T hides and various lab caches before heading in to the city.
We saw first hand the new takeaway alcohol rules as well as all the broken windows in town. The pizza place we went to (Roberto's Pizza) did the BEST PIZZA'S I have ever had....I am serious! It's a shame someone had smashed four of their windows, as they provided great service to us & all the locals that came in.
Thank god for air-con, as due to that I had a good night sleep. We slept in of course (due to me stuffing up the alarm and the long day we had previously), but it all worked out. We finished with the 'Heritage' labs which happened to be where the 'Invasion Day' protests were occurring.
We got every cache & lab we wanted, I feel we saw most (if not all) of the sights, we saw some cultural & political happenings..... what a way to spend 24 hours!!! Thanks to all the CO's for placing.

This was such a great rock formation to stop at. A short circuit around gave us the best views, with the most incredible number of flies my ears where ringing from the loud buzzing it sounded like they were inside my head! Credit to the ones that made it up my nose!!! It added to the experience and not one I'll forget that's for sure. Back to the rock... wow, its worth stopping in to make the short hot walk!
With GreyHams we set of for a short 24hour visit of Alice Springs. Certainly there is an element of crazy in only staying such a short time but what a great trip and place to visit, so worth it. I have been seeking the red outback dirt for a while now and for the past few opportunities have been greeted by lush greenery hiding that iconic red dirt! Still, it was stunning and I feel the green just made the scenery look more stunning highlighting the red rock formations. Loved the gorges, little waterways, dry creek beds and the chirpy little budgies at the gorges.
With temperatures forecast to be up around the low 40's it was a little culture shock! On arriving at the airport and collecting our reliable little SUV we hid in its lovely aircon and made the scenic drive out to Trephina Gorge. Perfect location and first stop... and the flies, SO many sticky little flies!
With a select number of caches on our list the gorges and stops on our way back into Alice highlighted the areas Geology and locations of interest as we cached our way back into town. Some short walks, fun little tracks and much variety in our list of types, LGA's, and DT among others.
After checking into our little villa, sorting out its aircon we set off for one of the little tracks that tested out our little car but carefully we made it through its eroded surface and water filled crossings. AL's, more EC's and some local about town caches gave us a good experience of being in this little town and I feel the caching showed us all we could see for the full experience.
The recent alcohol restrictions brought in we experienced first hand, all well organised and regulated. With the evening sorted it was onto Roberto's for the BEST pizza. Highly recommend the food and the friendly service offered to us and the locals while we were there, don't let the broken and boarded windows in the area put you off, it's worth trying.
The following morning we used to finish off the last of our list, with the multi, letterbox, WIG's and final AL's. The AL's took us to a little park where an invasion day rally was in place, a public holiday the streets were busy... the temperature 38C by 10am!
Many thanks to all the COs for your caches that led us on a great little trip of Alice and its highlights.

Forgot the car was showing QLD time and ended up here 30 mins ahead of time to meet the family, so did a lap and found the cache while waiting. Which was good as it was lovely and quiet then, when the family arrived it was like tourist central with cars pulling in from everywhere! Stunning location.

Our GPS showed the cache to be past the ‘revegetation area please keep to track’ sign thankfully we found it by the side of the path and no damage was done to the plants beyond. Found with Paul2811 TFTC
Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs
Any caches that needed repairs were fixed and numeous logs were replaced or added too.

Lots of history at this location.
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

Sadly this was a dnf for us today. I'm sure it's there, we just couldn't find it.
This country is amazing, around every corner, over every hill, mountain or river, there is always a great view of the landscape out here in the Outback of the NT.

We did a day trip to Corrobree Rick, Trephina Gorge, Ross River and Arltunga ruins. This is a fabulous rock and I can totally understand why this is a special place for the first nations people. The cache was found quickly and easily without having to tramp all over vegetation.

Dr Owl is in town for a few days which means I had a go at playing tour guide and a chance to see things in a different light.
The day was warming up but doing this walk was worth the effort. As always in the center there was plenty to of scenery to look at. Dr Owl found the cache where I hadn't even thought to look.
Thanks for the cache Dorik.

Owl and Eagle are in Alice Springs on a train expedition, so collected the temporarily-resident Sushilord and headed west... then east... then south. Fun was had, along with some spectacular scenery and out-of-the-way adventures. This was the first after lunch and a careful uncovering by Owl who has heard all about the creepy-crawlies in this neck of the woods.
Thought this might have been a tricky one, but stumbled across it with my eyes by chance
On our second day in Alice and we took a drive to Ross River Homestead and found this cache on the way while taking a walk around he rock. TFTC.
Found 27/6/20, cache is in good condition. A lovely place, just a shame that people don't know how to utilise a rubbish bin.
OK, so, this was going to be a DNF, but, we found it as we walked away from the GZ that the GPS ALWAYS wanted us to be at, secretly tucked away. Interesting location.
Searched within a reasonable distance from the path without going into the revegetation area. There were some rocks but we didn't find the cache. Maybe somebody else is luckier?
My iPhone was wanting to take me a lot more than 1 metre from the path so I decided to give it a miss...
Had a good scout around before I heard muggles. I didn’t have cache info or clue to help because it didn’t download properly before I lost reception. GZ is in a revegetation area.
TFTC - neat area! Enjoyed walking around this historic and sacred location.
Alice is expecting rain so I've come out this way to get a few more smileys in the area before the roads are too messy. Once again this is another fabulous location, the place has soo many. TFTC
I was heading up to Alice Springs from Adelaide on my own to meet up with FeatherWaite and decided to deviate a little to make the journey
I ended up travelling via Lambert Centre, Finke, the Old Ghan track, Chambers Pillar, the Hugh River Stock Route, Rainbow Valley, Owen Springs Reserve and a trip out to Ruby Gap for good measure, finding a few caches along the way. It took me a few days longer, but was well worth it.
Found this one on a visit to Corroboree Rock on my way to Alice Springs from Ruby Gap.

This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 9725. We found this as part of our 2018 Round Australia trip.
We found this one after a bit of a search. We found spotted it from the path but had to venture around a regeneration sign to retrieve it so we moved it 30cm to the other side of the bush so it's now accessible from the track. This way there are no issues with people venturing where they shouldn't be.
Thanks Dorik for the cache.

We were a bit worried that this one was going to elude us, but after a bit of hunting we found it safe and sound. TFTC
We loved the rock. Bearing in mind it’s sacred nature and the sign requesting to go no further, we were reluctant to hunt too far in. So a blue face for us.
Out to find some sights our daughter who lives in Alice has told about, great drive along the road and never tire of looking out the window

WHOOPS! I'm logging about 100-200 or so caches like 3 months after the trip that we found them on! Completely forgot to log these but I did not forget the trip! Found this cache along with many others on an adventure around the red centre. Along this adventure we visited and explored many phenomenal and surreal places such as Woomera, Coober Pedy, Uluru and Mutitjulu, Kata Tjuta, Wattarka, Tnorala, Both East and West Macdonnell ranges, Arltunga, Ruby Gap, Palm Valley, Parts of the Finke road, Boggy Hole, Rainbow Valley, Old Ghan Route, Chambers Pillar, Oodnadatta track, Mount Dare, Dalhousie Springs, Painted Desert, Moon plane and I'm sure I've missed a few! Thank you so much for the cache. Found with Ferociousflea and -Beaker- along with our mint 79 series that accomplished alot in this two week time frame.

Ooooooch! Spinifex hurts!!
Apologies for the generic log, we have a few months on the road ahead of us so data and time are precious, better we log now than try and remember in three months time and fluff it up! We will try to add a little custom sentence or two here for those special caches. So what are we upto? TeamThommo are off on their annual 'Big Trip' this year it's a 'Great Northern Adventure'.
This year we have a couple of months to travel; we started at our home in South Gippsland and moving North through Vic & North West through South Australia and then up into the N T, stopping at lots of little curious spots along the way with our first major stop Coober Pedy. We then plan to spend time at Uluru, Alice Springs, Lake Argyle, Broome and beyond.
Geo mum is the main cacher in the family and needs to pick and choose which caches are done otherwise the rest of the team will get 'sick of caching'. We particularly like Earth Caches and letterboxes.
Thank you for supplying us with a cache to do along the way.

We were only planning on stopping in Alice overnight to do a bit of a clean up and catch up with the washing but decided to make it two nights and do a little bit of sightseeing and relaxing at the same time. We chose to do the loop on Binns Track and back on The Ross River Highway and pick up a few caches out this way.
We pulled up here after leaving Trephina gorge and were amazed at this outstanding rock formation. You can see why it had so much significance for the traditional owners of the land. We really enjoyed the walk around the rock thinking of the forces that had been in play for it to end up like this. We collected the answers for the nearby earth cache as we headed here. The GPSr led us directly to the cache and our name has now been added to the log

Found by Mary & David at 1615. We walked the loop track whole doing the Earthcache. An amazing feature outcrop, and every stop revealed another shape, colour or detail. The north-eastern end looked like an Easter Island statue. Gets a FP. Our thanks to Dorik.

Found on our Red Centre Experience. Us and mr_roo decided to continue our drive west out of Alice Springs to go to Corroboree Rock. After examining the awesome views of this culturally significant rock, the cache was found reasonably quickly. The views of the rock were great because it was isolated on the grassy hill in front of the ordinary view of the MacDonnell Ranges. Despite the heat, it was wonderful to walk around the Rock today. Went out with team "capital Crunchers" (ACTchil, KittyKatch, GrimRaider, The S's, ScruffyBloke, Charli_Bear, Me_to, SmittenGranny & Pa to grab a few traditional, solved puzzle and eath caches. We got to GZ and it wasn't long until we had the cache in hand, putting the "Capital Crunchers" stamp and 4as1 sticker in and onto the next one. tftc Dorik
