Our first serious multi cache!!!!!A beautiful walk on a wonderful day. No cockatoos or echidnas on the walk out but plenty of swans, a wallaby and heaps of smaller birds. Looking forward to the walk back along the beach.TFTC

Tftc. Quick find at GZ. Nice outlook.

We have arrived on Kangaroo Island for a 5 day break. We first had this trip planned several years back but that year KI had an extreme fire situation happen and we were offered a refund on our trip which we took. We have waited this long so that the island could regrow and show herself at her best. We have been using geocaching to guide us around and four days into our break we can certainly attest to her beauty. The caching has been interesting and we have many earth caches to write up and send to COs. All the caches we have found so far are in good condition. We did replace one log sheet. All the roads we travelled on today have been quite good.SL TFTC

Nice coastal and bushland walk.

Didn't see any cockatoos, but nearly stepped on an echidna.

Cache is safe, tucked away and in good condition.

Found this one on day 4 of our week long family holiday on KI. Geokids and hubby were busy playing on the beach so I snuck off to solve the co-ords for this one yesterday, but weren’t up for the walk to GZ. then called on them for reinforcement to find the cache.
Attempted the walk today, but only Geokid 1 and I were the only ones to make it all the way! Took a bit of hunting, the hint helped before the rain kicked in.

An excellent location for exploring!!

What a beautiful, relaxing morning walk.
Once again caching has bought me to another beautiful place.
Now back to the motel for breakfast and await the tour coach, to continue on this quick adventure around this special island.

Wild, windy and wet day for a long stroll to capture this one. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird, Liz & Bruce. Another great day (despite the inclement weather) for caching. TFTC shonkylogic

Thanks for arranging and hiding. Beaut scenery. Good to be having a look around the area.  Caching with Wollaston and SeasonedBird.

Had collected the numbers when we were in American River earlier in the week but I had lost husband that time. We had walked from the campsite so was probably too far to walk that night.
So today we came back and made the walk which was lovely. Nice quick find at GZ then walked back along the beach.
We then went to the cafe for coffee and cake and finally we ran into Wollaston, SeasonedBird and Liz and Bruce so had a nice chat with them before heading off to Penneshaw.

Lovely walk and fun cache.

16-Jul-21
Did the walk in heavy rain, then back along the beach. The prospect of a cache kept me going, that and the big brown dog that decided to join me for the walk! Cache in good nick.

Mr and Mrs Parrot took a trip overseas to Kangaroo island for the week.
We had a lovely time finding caches and interacting with the people selling produce and food to the public.
It fabulous to see the green starting to come back into the fire ravaged areas. We had hired a house in Kingscote and ventured out each day in a different direction to see the sights and what the island had t off.
We also picked up 60 odd caches along the way.
My thanks for the quick responses to the Geocaches and the virtual cache which we sorted out before logging.
It was good to be able to complete Wonders of the world and become an Ultimate Explorer during my stay.

Magnificent, I love a cache with history and this one even gave me a walk as well.

My last day on KI and I wanted to get the 2 multis at the far end of town before I was picked up by my muggle travelling companions (I was camping down near the Deck Cafe).

Gathered the details from GZ for this one (although I initially missed the sign) and then the other. Finished the other one first since it was pretty close. Then calculated the waypoint for this and it was further than I was expecting. Time constraints meant I needed to break into a run (which I wasn’t really dressed for) and hope for a quick find. Thankfully I found the correct area at the destination and the hint helped by restricting which side to search (although my chest is quite a bit higher than the cache Smile and the cache was found and signed in ~2mins.

Returned to the car park just in time to meet my lift.

Found at 11:55 with Olga. A quick find about 5m from where the GPS said but in an obvious (to me) location.

A very pleasant walk.

Found It!
It was late in the day and I was hoping this was going to be a quick and easy multi cache. Instead I was in for a bit of a walk. Didn't see any fish, or canned fish but still a nice evening walk to a bit of history I never knew about!

Well I’ve never been fishing but I was able to find this little friend. The way to the final coordinates took me longer than I thought. I saw a lot of animals - but sadly no koala .

Thanks for the cache

Having some R&R in Kangaroo Island, staying with Dunmowin during the Christmas New Year week. Today we headed out to do some sightseeing and of course grab a few caches. Enjoyed the walk to GZ, sadly didn't see any cockies but the views across the bay were stunning! TFTC

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

We are here visiting, house and farm sitting for three months. There are only 86 caches on the island. This was our 16th, only 70 to go!

Today we are camped at American River, and after a hearty bacon and egg breakfast, set out to scour the peninsula.

After working the solution I returned to car to work on other puzzles. John hiked in to the cannery and saw a Goanna, 3 sea eagles - one with a fish, but no glossy black cockatoos.. He tells me this was an easy find, once the muggles went on their way. thanks shonkylogic for the multi, the walk and the hide. Beautiful day, but typically windy.

Its been a few years since I visited Kangaroo Island, so I headed off for a break for a few days and the chance to grab a few caches.

I managed to find a nice selection of caches over three days in some great places. Its a very relaxing and scenic part of the world!

I gathered the necessary information and visited GZ a couple of days ago. Although I had seen the previous DNFs, I had forgotten about them. After searching the likely hiding spots with no luck, I contacted the CO who confirmed I had looked the correct spot and indicated it would OK to replace the cache. Trouble was the only replacements I had were back in the car 1.5 Kilometres away and I didn’t have time to do it.

Today, as I headed back towards Penneshaw and the ferry home, I had more time. So I wandered back out to GZ and replaced the cache. Hopefully it will last a while. I also left a TB for the next finder to collect and continue on its travels.

Despite the need to visit it twice, I quite enjoyed this multi and the walk.

Thanks shonkylogic for the cache. A favourite point from me.

Thanks very much to e.gregory1 for replacing the cache. Caching karma. All set to go again.

Cache appears to have swum away. If somebody would like to replace the container, it was a small systema. Contact me for the exact location. I will be visiting KI next year but hopefully somebody might replace in the meantime.
Happy to reimburse cost of the container.

Disappointing DNF. Looked for long time.
3rd DNF in a row. Can Cache Owner please verify cache still exist.

09-Oct-18
Visited posted co-ords and did the calculations on my way from the ferry but did not have time to go for the required walk.
Heading back to the ferry today and made sure to attempt this time.
Made my way to GZ on a miserable morning. By the time I got there it was rainy and windy and cold. Looked around for quite a while but couldn't locate the cache. Probably just cache blindness but I couldn't come up with the goods.
A disappointing wallk back to the car to match the despressing weather.

28-Sep-18
Got all the clues, double checked them. This took us to the likely hiding place as per the name of the cache. We searched for quite some time but could not find. Oh well, nice afternoon walk anyway.

1st one!! Great walk and not too difficult to find

20-Dec-17
Lovely walk along the Bay, took us a little while to locate, but found in the end. Our last day exploring the island

20-Dec-17
Solved this puzzle, and then walked to the GZ location. Expected a bit more information and boards along the route as well as around the cache location explaining the history of the cannery, but alas the walk itself was nice.

Once at GZ, we searched for 10-15 min before finding the cache. Coordinates kept jumping around a little which made it hard to have a focused search. Ruins were nice.

No black cockatoos spotted unfortunately, but a big goanna had crawled on to the track during our return walk, so was nice to get a few photos of the little guy. Still wonder what this youth project was, and wonder if it was setting up the walk, a specific tree planting project, or reestablishment of the ocean fish farms?

16-Dec-17
What a fantastic walk! GZ was easily found but almost gave up. Chest high thru me off but i was not coming this far without a found. Both GPS and Phone took me to the spot. I just had to think a little differently. Getting a Fav from me.

Our final day of a 6 day stay on the island with the intentions of finding all the caches on the island, we succeeded finding all of them with no DNFs Smilethe stay was fantastic even though we were in a heatwave while staying here, luckily we had an air conditioned accommodation, while here we saw lots of Kangaroos, Wallabies, Goannas, Seals and lots of different species of birds, according to Mrs 3LGs fitbit we walked around 60 kilometres during the 6 days hereSmile, Today was the last day to find all the ones we missed since being here and we found the last one just in the nick of time before boarding the ferry,Another fantastic cache on this island to find and we enjoyed the walk to get to the final although we found the hint put us on the opposite side at GZ but a quick find was made as the tell tale signs of a cache hide. TFTC

We stayed in American River for our week's stay on the island. It was an amazing walk along the river to get to the cache with many delights on the way. On the way in we saw a pair of Glossy Black Cockatoos and took multiple photos trying to get a good one. On the way back we witnessed a flyby of what must have been the whole flock. Very privileged indeed. Just some of the birdlife we saw on the way. Some very interesting rock formations as well. This is one of the great delights of geocaching, finding the off the beaten track stuff. While Doc was bushbashing - because that was where the GPS said we should be (Not the first time it has lied to us) - Mrs got a little bored and did some exploring and found the cache. A delightful walk. TFTC Smile Cheers.

Another great weekend with my geofamily, plenty of miles and smiles with a few geocaches found along the way.

I had considered visiting this cache on previous visits to American River but thought the better of it. Today was a different story, I hadn't ridden from Penneshaw and was able ot kick off from the given wp instead of from the oval which we previously used as a campsite.

We enjoyed the walk, in along the path and out along the beach.

Thanks for the cache shonkylogic (Bronte?).

What a great day! Some very generous people allowed me to accompany them and undertake my first trip to Kangaroo Island. Cool
I picked up sushilord and then we caught the ferry to KI where Moneydork and Tounga met us and the caching (and photo taking) day started.
At the end of the day, I had 26 cache finds Smile and 1 event attended Cool
We even managed a group FTF on a cache that had waited some weeks for our arrival Wink

Our group enjoyed this walk through this lovely area and then back along the beach.
Some fish were even seen in the tidal pools so yes, we can c a fish Wink

We did enjoy doing this multi and going on the nice bush walk to find the well hidden cache. Lovely mossy areas and photos taken. It would have been interesting to see what this area was like many years ago. We saw Ibises in the sea at low tide enjoying their food with their heads down as usual. We had a spare day today and having retrieved the information last week decided to finish the cache. It was overcast with a slight breeze and ideal for a walk. Unfortunately the flies did not have a day off. The Bike S.A. event had reached American River so the locality was swarming with cyclists when we returned to eat our lunch. We parked next to an object that we had not seen before - would you believe, a charge point for electric vehicles in Amewrican River of all places. TFTC.

29-Jan-12
After spending a night in the camp grounds, and enjoying a nice shower, it was time the next morning to grab this one.

Got our answers at GZ from the comfort of the car. Then re-checked them after counting wrong.

Made our way to GZ in our thongs, which might not have been the best idea, but we got there with only dirty feet and some cuts.

It's a pity that there isn't actually any information at GZ, as I'm guessing that as it is now not very many would make the 1.5km walk there, as indicated by the number of people who actually make their way to this cache.

A lovely little place to walk to, and good to stretch the legs at the start of the day before climbing Prospect hill!

GeoWife kept asking GeoHusband "Are we there yet?" and his response was "Not much further" (but it was, grrrrr). There are three ways of getting to this one, a boat which I did not have, by road then walk down to it or to walk along foreshore. I thought that I would be lazy and drive there had a very interesting journey. Took Eiffel tower and left a blue grub and a snake to look after cache. Interesting remnants of early primitive buildings, if your coords are right they will lead you exactly to GZ.
