Not at the obvious. Cyclists beware farmers strung wire over cycleway entry and exit. Almost invisible.
Today started cycling the alps to ocean rail trail an awesome experience. With a few caches to provide the cherry on top. TFC
We cycled the Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail a few years ago and the section from Duntroon to Oamaru, after several sunny warm February days, turned to a southerly storm with fresh snow falling low down on the tops. Reaching the end became far more important than looking for any caches. So on a beautiful, clear, sunny September day with delightful vistas of snow on the hills we set off to do this section again and look for a few caches on the way. We were amazed at the changes that had been made to the trail, in fact it was almost a different ride. Many thanks to the A2O organisation and many thanks for all the people who have placed caches along it.
Found while out with Nosynel when back in oamaru picking up her campervan. Thanks for the smile.
We decided to make use of the fact that we had 2 vehicles and bikes. So we decided to car shuffle and do this series along the A2O.

Last time I was here I was at the OamaruGeofest. I had to come back to pick up our campervan. The clutch went on it not far out of Oamaru. The bonus is I get to go caching with my buddy Bbear44 again.

Whizzing down the A20, (Yes i know its A2O, but A20 rolls off the tongue better and reflects how I would be travelling it if I wasn't caching). This track has been on my and Taybeedragon's list of things to do in Oamaru for a while. And today is perfect - cool, slightly cloudy day. See you at the bottom!
Day 5 - A2O is todays epic adventure. Zara is at Elephant Rocks and Toby is waiting at the Saleyards, while its bums on seats for us, on our trusty steeds Jack and Jill.
Still moving along - and another snag and tag. Cheers

I brought my bike down with me on the trip to Omamaru to do some of the bike trails and today I did lots of them parking the car and then biking back and forward so made a big day but very enjoyable saw lots of neat stuff too.
The Trans Tasman Team is having a wonderful day, caching all over the place! Thanks to the organizers of the Geofest for bringing us here, and all of the cache owners for putting out so many !!!
Caching with our team for the geofest signing as TTT. Having heaps of fun traversing this area. Tftc
#3,030: Binge Smiley!
What an adventure we had today! TheWanglers, Team_Gaters, and I headed out at dawn from Christchurch with four goals in mind: 1) Find Many Caches, 2) Get TG to 7,000 finds, 3) get me to 3,000 finds, and 4) Have Fun! Needless to say, all were accomplished in spades. It was only my second 100+ day ever, and had us driving, walking, running, biking, and even crawling to make the finds. We were also able to find at least 7 different cache types, and attend two events, in order to catch up with old friends. Thanks to all the hiders, but most of all, thanks to my partners in crime! We signed all logs as "T8T", sung to the tune of AC/DC "TNT".

Headed out for a Mad Mission with Team_Gaters and 8ManAfter we signed our logs today 'T8T' cos were dynatmite! I grabbed 8Man at 5.30 am and we grabbed TG just before 6am and we were on the road before 6am with the bikes on the back. The plan was to drive to Oamaru and then attend the events and thrash the caches hard. We wanted to do as much of the A2O as we could and as many PnGs that we could manage. We stopped by the event first and then we had to stop an grab breakfast at 10am. We grabbed some lunch and headed for the hills. Had a great time and worked our way back to town for the CITO at 6pm. Scored a delicous dinner in town and headed home. Got home just after 12am knocking out 620km and 115 caches. Good times!
Quick find here.
Cache 93 of 115 for this crazy day!
Thanks for the cache Bitsprayer.

A long days caching (Mad Mission?) with TheWanglers and 8ManAfter..revelin a bit of the Geofest Event in Oamaru. We signed our logs 'T8T' cos were dynamite...and 'in a hurry'...LOL! Picked up by TW & 8man at 6am...and we had our bikes loaded for a bit of A2O action during the day. The plan was to drive to Oamaru and then attend the events and thrash the caches hard. We stopped by the event first and then we stopped to town to grab some breakfast and a packed lunch and then headed out to hit some trails. Had a great time and worked our way back to town for the CITO at 6pm. Grabbed some tea in town then headed for home. Got home just on 12am knocking out 620km and just over 100 cache finds for each of us. A great day with great company!
After cycling part of the nearby trail we were now looping around and heading slowly back towards Oamaru for the CiTO and to find some tea. Cheers.

TFTC - found today while up in Oamaru for the geofest - was on the ground when we arrived but placed up higher.
A nice quick find while holidaying in the area. Thanks for adding to the enjoyment of this trip and TFTC
I was on my way to the Island Cliff section of the A2O cycleway when this popped up on the radar. Just had to stop and sign it off.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
A quick find on our way to the start of the next section of the A2O trail. thanks for the history too Bitsprayer.
Found with Chosen1978. Have to come back and do more in this area. Might need the bikes for some of these caches.
Found on our Invercargill to Christchurch road trip. We had a day around Oamaru so decided to go for a drive in the countryside. Thanks to all the cache owners who have put out some great caches in some great locations, we enjoyed our trip and enjoyed many of the places we found ourselves. SL TFTC.
It's nice to see these little schools that are no more are still remembered. No sign of TB. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
A nice big stone which makes a good marker for both a school and a cache. Found with debsnz
So many little schools used to exist. Now thanks to the modern bus they are no longer.
If someone who finds this would let me know if the Light Company TB is still there I would appreciate it.
Cheers,

GPS trying to lure me into the school grounds. Using EPS (Eye Perusal System), spootted the cache in the expected spot. SL, TFTC
Drove past this the first time, quickly stopped, turned around, and came back to find the cache. Cheers Gav [7466]
Found this after competing in the Otago Orienteering champs. Pleasant scenic drive on the way back to Naseby. Had been found and carefully replace by a fossil hinting muggle.
Had a quick look but could not find

Found with YuGeo4, Excellent definitely will need to come back. TFTC TNLNSL (1329)
So many interesting spots out here. The scenery is superb and we're loving it. TFTC.
The story for this cache is discovering that 5 of 6 wheel nuts on one of the cachemobile’s wheel were loose. We’d all been noticing a slightly strange sound for the last few caches, but ToyoataVX and PB couldn’t figure out what it was. When stopped for this cache they inspected a few things but were none the wiser. Then after he found the cache, for some reason it occurred to ToyotaVX to check the wheels again, and all was reavealed – fortunately. The next discovery was that the gadget for tightening the nuts up again was not quite the right size. Anyway, they got tightened a bit, and ToyotaVX did them properly with a much more fancy gadget once we got back to his place.
And as for the cache – TNLN TFTC!

Lovely bike ride to cache. Muggles driving past thought we had stopped for a breather before the hill!
On the way home and this appeared on my GPS, couldn't believe my luck. Had heard talk of this area when it was thriving so it was good ro stop and take the area in.
Thanks

The GPS had it out in the field - so hunted in the trees for a bit, before spotting it. Thanks.
Quick drive in cache! Best thing for rainy weather!
