After staying at the exclusive "Berida Manor" last accommodation left in the area this was the first port of call at 09.00 on a three day caching trip home to Geelong.

After two DNF's I was a little worried that it was not there but I should not have worried as the cache was partly showing an thus an easy find. The next hunter will not have it so easy but it's not that hard. Great views from up here and sat and enjoyed. Thanks homedg for placing a cache in such a great location.

Did The Don not spend most of his life in Norwood, SA. Playing for SA, Captaining SA and numerous other official duties both with the State side and the National side? So for all intense purposes he was SOUTH AUSTRALIAN through and through!!!! RazzRazzRazz
Nice spot at 0530, in the mist and darkness. Peaceful...

Thanks

Third find for the day on the way back from a couple of days in Vincentia. Cloud was still hanging around so no muggles out appreciating the views. Given cloud and tree cover GPS was jumping around a little bit, but eventually got on the right track. While signing log, a train whistle blew and the clouds parted for a glimpse of the town below and the train heading north. Took Aussiegirl Geocoin. Must visit again when the clouds aren't around. Thanks

Just today, listening to the 2nd Test v Pakistan, heard the info that the Don actually born in Cootamundra, not Bowral. Anyhow, killer views of Bowral and surrounds and great symphony of birdsong on this grey old avo up the Gib. The grey skies actually kinda dramatic. The iPhone compass flip-flopping about, and giving me a couple of bumsteers, but triangulated around to the correct GZ eventually. One false alley I investigated guarded by a rather skittish little skink. The inventory said to expect a TB, and was hoping to pick up my first, but alas, I’d been beaten to it. TNL-a white plastic peg. TFTC. (Oh, I signed log on the inside back cover, as it had reached the end. Not actually full, as plenty of blank space near the beginning, but the chronological logs have reached the end of the book) Great spot. Thanks homedg

Our very first cache. Don't think we would have even found it without the Vikings coming along. Thanks for the help. Kids expected to look and take nothing but Vikings were kind enough to leave extras behind and give the kids a little memento. Have our own little "treasure box" now to take on our journeys. TFTC!

02-Jan-10
Following the track out towards the cache, three kids were waiting and asked us "Are you looking for something?"
A bit further out we found their daddy, Trevor, scrambling around the rocks with an i-pod in hand. He told us that this was his very first geocache. Together we looked for and found the cache, to the joy of the kids.
It is always fun to meet other cachers on the hunt, and especially fun since this was a new cacher. Hope Trevor and his team will find many more caches!
This was The Vikings' cache #1200.

We got really close to this quite quickly but then a guy with a dog came by and sat right near where I reckoned GZ would be. After a while, with 7 people hanging around making the silence not quite so relaxing, the guy and dog duly departed which left us free to have a good look and find the cache Big Grin Thanks homedg

Made a stroll in the evening to this nice lookout. TFTC and cheers from Germany.

Heading north for a visit to Sydney the Kalmlittleexplorers took the opportunity to find some caches in this area as we were passing through. Followed the GPS up a nice big hill where there were plenty of keen Bowral locals exercising on a Saturday morning we headed of on a nice walk through the park. Not surprisingly we all jumped out of the car and straight away noticed that it was much cooler atop this hill this morning than it was in Nowra!.

Arrived at GZ and soon had the cache in hand. The view from here is fantastic. the geo kids liked watching a large freight train role through town.

T - Dinosaur and princess
L - Key Chain Pad and TB

For some reason I was expecting this to be near the Don Bradman museum so I was suprised when we started heading up The Gib. Did the short walk from the parking area and TLM The Elder quickly spotted the right spot. Loved the views from here, pleased it wasn't raining as I reckon the rocks could get a bit slippery. Dropped a TB. TFTC

Nearly followed the arrow off the cliff Wink

Haven't been up here for years. Perfect spot for a picnic
Thanks for putting a cache here. Great view on a glorious day. Had a quick look but couldn't find it and decided I really needed some food.
Had lunch and while coffee cooled, had another look. GPS taking me all over the place but geohusband found it without too much difficulty.
Silly when you go cache blind ...had looked at GZ earlier!!!
Beautiful day.

Drove up here with Anna, to see the nearby cache. OK off for a stroll where we nearly got blown off the mountain. Weather bureau later said apparent temp at Bowral at 3pm was -5, would have been windier and therefore colder up here! But a quick find with a great view then back to the nice warm car. Thanks homedg.

The views weren't that good by the time i got to the top of the Gib. The wind had changed and smoke from a nearby HR had blown over town. Still a nice spot to view the area from.

A great view (or so we are told) the cloud base was a little lower than the cache, visibility was very low in the clouds and light to heavy drizzle made this a particularly hazardous search. We were stumped for a while checking out numerous possible hide sites. Geo wife took a fairly heavy fall after slipping on wet moss. This caused her to have almost a total humour failure and I was give orders to return to the car, do not pass go and do not fall of the cliff. I pleaded for 5 more minutes, request denied, I was still stalling for a little more time when I spotted the container. Log completed and back up the hill to a very dejected geo mummy who needed a clean up and a change of clothes. I will apply ‘get better kisses’ at a later time…

What an amazing clear day it turned out to be today.
and i cant think of a nicer place to sit and discover the treasures to be had inside the cache.
Keeping the Geotot wedged between us so she didnt wander over the cliff's edge. a worrying moment when powerplay's smiley spring rolled close to the edge.
Needless to say we are now the proud owners of a yellow smiley spring and geo science geek friend snatched the periodic table (pocket size she exclaimed ooohh and on the other side was more info of something of great excitement, personally i wasnt that excited, but each to their own) so i came away from the cache with nothing but a sence of personal victory as i'd been the one to find it. and what a spot.
Thanks for bringing us here Homedog.
Left a glow stick and a magnet as well as a geo frog.
was a little worried at sliding off the rock getting to the cache.

4th cache for the day with 2DogsTravelling. This was a girl-only find - the male member of 3KidsCaching having not been able to find it on his last visit with 2DogsTravelling. Gurls Rule!

01-Oct-08
This was our 2nd visit to this site, and thank goodness for 3KidsTravelling who finally found the cache - slightly further on from where we had been looking on our last visit and at the start of this one. Yay for the kids! I must admit I was somewhat nervous here though -not so much about the drop off the rocks, but because we are at the start of snake season, and the obvious places to look are all great snake hidey-holes. Luckily we saw no snakes, but it is certainly the time of year to be cautious.

Have been up this mountain a couple of times before. However, it seems that everytime I’m here, it’s raining! That’s fine, but the views are probably a little less spectacular! Nice easy find. Found @ 4:40pm with Fore!, Shadow! and Huxley the geo-hound.

10th of 16 finds for me on this Easter road trip to Bowral and back.

With our initial approach blocked, I took another more circuitous route and soon had the cache in hand unobserved.

The views were fabulous and you could see where the previous cache we had done was.

Took nothing, left pathtag.

TFTC!!!

23-Mar-08
The view at first was covered by a mist but it soon parted to reveal the sleepy township below. Seem to remember finding a cache around the same spot a few years ago.

23-Mar-08
This was the 11th cache of 18 for Shadow!, Huxley and me (yes, that’s grammatically correct), and the 10th of 16 for allrounder. We’d loaded up our garmins for this Easter Sunday bash and off we went in search of the goods!

Now THIS area had some spectacular views, although we had to try to coerce a couple of visitors away from their perch by “sharing†their view for a little too long so that we could launch an assault, but they wouldn’t budge. So we left the area and sent allrounder back in to circumnavigate and sneak it from the other trail. Yey for stealth.

Huxley spent his time foraging for food.

TFTC! TN Left: giant bug and periodic table.

23-Mar-08
Off on our caching adventure. 11/18 for me. allrounder, Fore! and Huxley made up the rest of the hunting team today and we were on a big trip as far as Bowral. Me? I read the papers the whole way there and back… you can only have so many navigators, you know!

T Keyring, L Keyring and pathtag.
TFTC! Fun! Big Grin

Passing through to Nowra and a quick detour.

16-Mar-08
Great views over the area from GZ. There were a few possible locations for the cache to be hidden, according to the hints, and a thorough search of just about all of them at last revealed the cache. TFTC.

Found by Mary & David at 1410. We've seen the trand to claim celebrities at many towns around the country. We agree that he's still 'Our Don'. What great views up here. We found our very first NSW cache close by a few years back. Our thanks to homedg.
