This Labour Day long weekend marked a camping trip to Geelong for a gallivant around the countryside picking up a number of caches (69 to be exact). Unfortunately we couldn’t foresee the weather and with temperatures soaring into the high thirties, caching took a back seat between 11am and 8pm. This did provide us with an opportunity to rest up and do some night caching around the areas.
After setting up the tent and camp site after a gruelling 3 hour trip from Endeavour Hills to Geelong on Friday, we grabbed a bite to eat, then hit the road for a couple of hours grabbing a few caches around the Belmont area, even seeing a guy night flying an electric aeroplane, all lit up with LED’s looking like a UFO.
Saturday saw us caching out onto the Bellarine Peninsular towards Leopold in the morning before seeking refuge back at the caravan park pool, before once again venturing further out to Drysdale into the wee hours of the morn.
After a sleep in on Sunday, we made our way to the Steampacket Gardens to have a look around, also grabbing a couple of caches before heading to Melbourne to see the Storm play their first game. After a great dinner in Victoria St, we took the opportunity to have a great caching run winding from Laverton to Eynesbury across to Balliang then back down to Geelong once again finishing up around 2am.
Monday we packed up the camp site before venturing to do the fabled Mystery of the Fyansford Treasure Horde cache, which was also our 700th find!!
We parked on a side road and strolled to GZ under starlight. Katy made the quick discovery of the cache.
We want to thank the CO’s for placing the caches, we had a blast finding such a variety of different hides.

Nice spot and the flowering gums just about to burst into bloom. Found with relative ease though well hidden. Log book was a bit wet and also nearly full.
A very nice area. We parked the car and I raced Aveen to be the first at GZ, but my GPS was jumping around and had me sidetracked searching a nearby tree, so Aveen still bet me to the find... grrrr!
A lovely peaceful spot here today in the early afternoon. Some nice camo hiding this cache and although the log seems full, there's plenty of room if you go back on the opposite side of the page. TFTC
Strolled over from our son's house to log our first ever Aussie cache. Lovely area and a straightforward find.
Found with Sully1 after the stroll from the car.
Nice reserve here, and the creek was really flowing after the recent rain.
Thanks Redpaw64

Found with bogonghazy on a days cache run to St Leonards and back, nabbing me 33 for the day. This one was in hand rather quickly, and logged before returning it to its spot, in this pleasant little reserve. Nice spot. Thanks to RedPaw64 for the cache and for bringing us here.
nice pleasent walk to this one had to wait for muggles to move on then proceeded GZ TFTC
On a day put with Ogrebeast! Nearly mugged by kids! Very polite they were! TFTC!
Found on a day of Mountain bike riding ..some well out of the way places you don't usually see.great fun. TNLN STL TFTC
Nice quick and easy cache. Isnt it funny how caching takes you to parts of a town you never knew were there!
A beautiful day to be out caching in this scenic area. This was one of the caches we targetted today and found. Thanks redpaw64, we enjoyed the cache.
Had to look deeper than I thought for this. Eventually Alan found it. Found a space somewhere in the full log book. Commented on the lovely grassy area that we were not aware of when we drive through the town. TFTC RedPaw64
Found today while on lunch. Great place. Needs a new log book. Took dice and left cat. Also left pencil as pen didn't work.
Dogs loved the long walk around these extensive parklands this morning. This really is a tree that was built to house a cache hey! There was still some room on the inside back cover of the log book, so I kept it small, but the cache is otherwise in great condition. Tnln tftc!
Log is nearly full, room for a few more signatures on the back cover but needs a new one.
Took a chance with the weather (passing storms of very heavy rain) to take the 200+m walk to find this one. Once at GZ found the cache quickly, signed and returned. Got back to the car before the rain hit! Thanks heaps to RedPaw64 for bring me this part of the park, a very pleasant (if muddy today) walk to GZ with great views over the lake. Log book is nearly full by the way.
Out and about with good mates Covert and spladem for some caching fun!
Quick find in an interesting park

A road closure nearby but we managed to find another road and parked...Mr Bushies2 went there by himself and found it after a short search. Thanks RedPaw64.
When I told jsmyong55 that I was heading down to some night time caching east of Geelong he said he was in. Prior to leaving we worked on a few of the puzzles in the week before we left to make sure we could maximise our finds. I think in the end we ended up with about 45 for the night, so we were very happy with our efforts. In Geelong we met up with a local cacher, Bushfire and his caching stories amused us as we zipped between caches. After a great walk to GZ this was one of the caches found tonight. Thanks RedPaw64 for the cache.

Finally its time for our Geelong night caching run. We had spent some time on preparing for this trip, solving the puzzles beforehand so that we were able to pick them off once we headed down here. We had another local cacher Bushfire come on board with us to do some caching too. He was one that I have had contact with via email but had not met up before. Nice ol' bloke he was. Almost all the caches he has cleared out the already so he left us to do what we came for while he watched. Travelling in between we exchanged stories of caching adventures, some of which are pretty amusing. In the end, we bagged around 45 and headed home tired in the wee hours of the morning.
This was one of our finds that night. Seems like a nice area but we couldn't see much in the dark. Having a smiley made the area even nicer. TFTC RedPaw64

Grab as a part of a late afternoon run with Spladem and Kellyhaunts after knocking of the woodlands series. This cache made the 129th and the last find for both Kellyhaunts and me for the day just before midnight. TFTC
Found the two caches in this area today during a refreshing walk around the lovely lakes. Thank you for bringing us here. The marker pen is getting old and weary, otherwise: cache is in excellent condition.

A pleasant stop on our way to Queenscliff for Easter. We stretched our legs and were quickly on our way. The dog walkers must have been home hunting for Easter eggs. TFTC
Found this afternoon with the geokids on a Bellarine Peninsula GC trip.
One small muggle seemed to follow us half way round the lake, so we lost her and did another cache nearby and then came back.
Nice easy find.
Took dime, left stickers.

4108. [font=Book Antiqua][green]Well originally I thought the lady walking the dogs in front of us was a nice lady. Then we came across the fresh steamers and cursed her and her off lead mutts. Luckily the peacefulness and green took those feelings away. Great area after the recent rains around these parts.

One of 37 finds for the night with my good mate Blacklegend (Marshy) during our 2nd Geelong night cache run. We were now making our way along to the Bellarine Peninsula. Stopped by the egde of the road and made our way through the park to make a nice and quick find. Signed the log and rehid the cache. Thanks for the hide.
One of 37 found on another night caching run with my good mate Marty (Quasar3671) in the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula area. Getting very late in the morning now and no muggles in sight. TFTC.
Busy going through my GSAK database and updating caches I haven't sent a log for. Have been using GSAK to keep tabs on my finds. Thanks to the cache owners for the caches. Working my way through those caches that require emails with answers.
Pulled up at GZ and found myself standing in a large mown area. But I was sure the cache was located just in front of me. Started digging though leaves and began to wonder if I was looking in the right spot. Surveyed the area was sure I was right. A bit more digging and the cache was in hand. No sooner had I re hid the cache than I was surrounded by people walking dogs and themselves.
Thanks for bringing me here.

A beautiful walk with lovely adult company. After 5 caches this morning, the kids were crashing so we headed off to the bakery for lunch.

#138 - Definitely no stealth needed today as it was super quiet! Ok, lots of dragonflies everywhere though. tnln
The grass has been slashed and there are bees nere GZ
At 28 degrees with clear blue skies above,
what glorious weather to be caching in.
We achieved 24 cache finds and 2 DNF's today,
that's a new daily record for us.

Rocky Glen Grommets were on the Phillip Island for Aussie MotoGP to watch their sponsor ride in the Historics! They are now on their way home via the Great Ocean Road - Came across on the Ferry today and spent the afternoon / night in Queenscliffe area.
A lovely walk to this cache, but had to wait for a passing muggle and her dog to disappear in order to be able to retrieve the cache. TFTH...SL...TNLN
A great area to sit and soak up the sun for a few minutes. The geodog needed a rest. Signed the log and thanks for the cache.

Nice quick find on a brisk morning. Gotta love when your caching instincts cut in and gz can be identified from a fair way away. TFTC TNLN
It was a very easy find. Nice hide. While re-hiding a muggle came past and saw me but I think it will be ok. TNLN. Thanks.[:o)]
We found a park and headed off towards gz and were quite surprised by the size of the parklands here, not quite what we were expecting from the way we came in. The GPSr led us directly to gz for a nice easy find where the log book was duly signed
Thanks again RedPaw64 for the cache

Our last cache on a sunny Sunday. The rivulet between the two lakes has been a little higher than usual ... to say the least ... judging by the tide line formed by sticks etc. Not a chance of it hitting the cache though ... Left a wooden nickel, TNSL. TFTC!
Find # 1463 @ 16:40
The last find for the day on the way home to Melb. A quick dash and the hide was in hand. Thanks RedPaw64!

TFTC, Joint find with Saulman1010 and geo kid on Journey around this area. Didnt find the bridge across the creek on the way to cache, but found on return so created a few funny moments. Nice Hide.
Made last minute treck over to this side of the bay to pick up a solved mystery cache that Hazey1 and I had been working on and decided to find a few of the local traditionals while we were here.
Didnt get going till after 5pm and ended up back home at 11:45pm, Still, enjoyed out brief looksie at the area but would like to see it all again in the daylight!.
Bit most underfoot - that is if you wander off the track.....
