Couldn't find. Searched the hinted area heaps. Looks like someone had a bit of a shin-dig at the tower as there was remnants of a fire and alcohol, not sure if someone found a d took the container? Hope not. Will try again another day.
tornear I found your cache Taromeo treetops on 30/7/2024, 10:30AM. This is my find 6852 and find # 1 today. Found it after a brief search. Thanks for replacing. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Cache has been reinstated.Container is smaller and less likely to attract muggle attention if exposed. Cachers will need to bring their own pen/pencil.
Given the string of consistent finds followed by a DNF, I'll disable the listing until we can check and/or re-establish it.Unfortunately it sounds like the cache has been muggled. This is a shame as it gets quite active over school holidays. I hope to reestablish by 30 June.
tornear I didnt find your cache Taromeo treetops on 17/6/2024, 2:25PM. Searched the stump but nothing found.
Found during a day on the rail trail with Peppa and Davinells. Thanks for the cache tornear
Beardman75, Peppa and I set out to complete another section of the BVRT today. JDavs was once again our awesome support crew but this time she had the company of a muggle friend, soon to be converted cacher. We started in Toogoolawah and headed upin more ways than oneaiming to get as far as we could peddle until we couldnt peddle anymoremaybe if some of us had touring modeIts nice to pick up some caches by car and we could drive up to this one, the muggle is getting good at this game.Tftc tornearFind #5986
Nice find and cool spot. TftcAlso noted that it looks like a few people have found this cache without knowing exactly what it is. Could do with a geocache sticker on it, just in case.
I didn't realise the fire tower was there until I walked around looking for the cache. Thanks for bringing me here. Checking out the cycle trail. TFTC

On a weekend away with our 4wd club, thought I'd reminisce and take the fam back out to the old fire tower. We used to climb the stairs to the top when I was young. Not these days though! Tftc
Easy gravel drive, could be done in a 2WD. We turned off the D’Aguilar Hwy at Old Esk Road, up Round Scrub Road and made a right which took us straight line to the cache. The trip back to the highway was also called Old Esk Road which pops out beside the Blackbutt Creek Bridge, luckily it was the downhill run to the hwy, it had rained all night and near the top it was a slippery clay in sections and definitely a 4x4 track, quite sure we wouldn’t have made it to the top going in the way we came out even in low gear.
Thanks to CO’s for taking time to set out and maintain hides and for showing us your very special part of the world

TFTF introducing a friend to caching and she found it without any drama, off to the next one!
While out on one of our geocaching days with Peppa, we discussed how many oldies we have found and mentioned "Noises of Tarong". So a day trip to the area was planned and today we on our way to the targeted cache.
I spoke about our Club's 4WD day trip we had many years ago to 7 Mile Diggings starting near Moore and travelling through past Taromeo on our way to Nanango. Decided to come this way and see if we could find this cache.
At GZ, cache was found quickly, SL then returned as found.
Impressive fire tower nearby and still standing but unfortunately we were unable to take in the view from the top as it is fenced off.

I was thankful for the high clearance in a couple of spots but didn’t need to engage 4WD. Thanks for the cache
Quick and easy find. Quick stop on my way to St George for work. Trackable dropped off.
This cache wasn’t on my list for today, but while driving through, Cachly indicated it needed some love…
So a slight detour, a couple of dirt roads and the need to remove one tree from my path later I was at GZ…
I was fooled for a moment… but then on closer inspection found the shiny new container…
Thanks to the CO for maintaining this oldie… more than happy to give it some attention today…
Renaldo needs a wash anyway…

We are finally able to visit the cache tomorrow 5/9/21 and will take along everything necessary to either restore it to good order or replace it if it no longer exists. Not long after it was originally established the cache site (which was well clear of any established path) was bulldozed when Forestry established a firebreak. The location after that remained safe for many years until recently. Tomorrow after the visit I'll provide an update. Thanks for everyone's patience.
Given the last few DNF's I'll temporarily disable this until I can go and re-establish it again.
Last time the cache disappeared it was due to clearing for a firebreak.... it seems a bit different this time, and if necessary I'll set a new cache in the same area.
Apologies for those that made the trip and missed it.
Will post a comment once it is back in action.

No luck here for us today after searching the obvious spot. A CO check could be in order.
Looked in every nook and cranny and nothing. A few freshly dug holes so maybe a wilderbeast took cache as a pillow!!
We looked high and low.we where stupid, could not find any trace of the cache.️ Will call back another day.
I was driving home to Brisbane from Kingaroy with my youngest and her best friend for the holidays. There was still some daylight left, and I had often looked at this green box on the map as I drove past, so we decided on a detour to finally make a find. Up the bumpy road and round the bends, we reached the top and were pleasantly surprised at the wide open intersection and the view of the big fire tower. The cache was a quick find in the obvious spot and then back down we went to continue our journey. Thanks for the cache and the adventure tornear
Track was a little washed out. I would say any car can drive this track doesn’t mean that it should haha our ford falcon sedan did not appreciate the trek but it was fun for us and a good find
Not sure what I was expecting to find here but nothing like the real thing. I think I was thinking I was going to see a Tree House close by but nothing like that. I made a quick find and signed the log before replacing it as found. TFTC
Camped at the Blackbutt Showgrounds doing some cycling on the BVRT and dropped into the information Centre and came across the Allery Trail Loop route that happened to go past the cache, we had the cache saved to do for some time to so after a bit of puffing we had cache signedThanks for the cache tornear.
Had great fun getting to this cache, took a few 4WD tracks then realized that there was a much quicker entrance. Love the structure near GZ and because of the location we are giving it a FP.
Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Jemillalucy, Bennyboppers and Lisylou). Would have been great to climb the tower and see the views. TFTC!
I like it when cache locations are showing us something new or off the beaten track tftc fav
Easy find, shame we can't climb the tower. Did some cache maintenance and covered a little. Tftc.
Running away from home with 1minniemoo and nyssaflutterby for the weekend and after caching our way up to the mountains yesterday, we had a good nights rest in a lovely log cabin and did some walking in the mountains and now it’s time to head home but there’s some caches to find along the way.
This was our last cache for the day. I was pleased to get this one as I’d tried to get to it years ago from the wrong direction.

NyssaFlutterby, Wombles&Co and I had planned for an awesome weekend adventure at Larapinta Falls. But instead.... we ended up at the Bunya Mountains due to the weather.
Yes it was to be a very wet one from Sunny Coast to the border and beyond, and west, but we were determined to enjoy our weekend... maybe just not in tents.
And now, our weekend was coming to an end. This was to be the very last cache for the weekend.
We drove the car right up to GZ pretty much, and made a quick find. This was such a quiet spot here today.
Thanks for the cache tornear.

Heading for home with wombles and 1MinnieMoo after a lovely weekend at Bunya Mountains but of course we had a few stops planned for along the way.
I have passed this cache many times from a distance on the main highway, always thinking one day I'll get there. Well today was the day! We arrived at GZ and found the cache quickly then went off to check out the fire tower.

We are nomads. Having left Perth WA in February 2014 we now live in our caravan and go wherever the will or caches take us.
Todays plan was to drop Mr Felix and his Geobike at Linville so he could ride back to Benarkin. We managed to grab this cache once Mr Felix and his geobike were back on board. Nice to see the fire tower in good condition. Looks like it is still used.
Cache was out in the open and had water in it. Dried it out as best we could with tissues then replaced that had fallen down.

Tipped the water out of the container. Took the coin to drop at our next cache. Tftf
Enjoyed our drive through the forest to find this one. Only one tb listed actually in the cache so traded that & left some swaps. Bit of condensation in the cache but log book dry in its baggy. Tftc xo
Always nice to find an aged cache. Despite having ridden the BVRT several times today was the first time I've actually detoured up this way to find the cache.
Beautiful track. Love this area, never would have found the road without geocaching <3 thx
Nice drive but the little beep beep was tested at the start. Cool trackable in the cache.
Sorry looks like I neglected to actually press the dropped off button . Timmy was dropped off in Taromeo Treetops on Monday 10/04/17.
Tftc. Found with samdoggy and hulioxxx. Was hoping for a view from the cache description so was a bit disappointed. The fire tower was cool though.
Found with the possumcrazy and the hulioxxx crowd on a Benarkin Forest Camping trip. TFTC TNLNSL. Dropped off Travel bug to continue its journey.
Mrs RoddyC and Selva Girls picking up some caches in the wider Nanago area.
Lovely drive up through the forest. Cache picked up then a look at that tower. My thoughts were that I would love to climb up there to look at the tree tops. Sadly it is closed off. (Just as well).
Found at 3.20pm on 25th March 2017. TFTC tornear.

A lovely drive through the forest brought us to this cache. It was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC
This one has been lurking in or GPSr for years now, so we finally decided to "make it a smiley". Unfortunately, the co-ordinates we had were from a previous location, and it wasn't until we fired the phone up that we were able to get the most recent co-ordinates. While reading the latest logs, Princess Madelyn spotted the cache almost without even looking. It was a lovely quiet location, and it would have been nice to have been able to climb the tower. Thanks tornear for placing this cache. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.
Nice drive through the forest for this one - on our way to Nanango from the Sunny Coast. Looked in the wrong place initially but got there in the end. TFTC tornear
We were able to make this one a DIDO, you just have to love those. We thought that we would have had better views from here but still a lovely area. SL TFTC
Out and about again today seeing more of this lovely countryside. We enjoyed finding this cache. Thanks to tornear for its placement and adding to our enjoyment of this location.
Captain Terror and I were on our way home after a wonderful weekend at Nanango. We had come up for the event and stayed a total of three nights. We hadn't planned on doing much caching this trip but this cache is find number 59 for me this weekend.
This was a cache that Captain Terror really wanted to find. Since he was driving there was no question as to whether we would attempt it or not and soon we were getting out of the car under the tower. We spotted quite a lot of cranky looking ants so we made our way quickly down to GZ where Captain Terror made the quick find. We signed the logbook and headed back to the car. Thanks for the cache tornear.

Net88 and I had enjoyed three nights in Nanango for the event and after three days of adventures with several folks, we were headed home via a few geocaches on the D'Aguilar Highway. By the time we were done, we'd added sixty smilies to our find count, mostly regular and Large size containers and hidden one too. Added to meeting lots of other geocaches, a bit of driving around seeing the countryside and plenty of relaxing, it was a great weekend away.
There are a few things I love seeing while geocaching, such as dirt roads, fire towers and old hides. This one ticked all three and thanks to having a quick squizz at satellite view before leaving home, had figured we ought to grab it on the drive back. Up the dirt road I managed to miss the right turn and we found the old historic site. Didn't know that existed, so a good wrong turn which lead to an interesting place.
After a U-turn we were on the right road, kicking up a satisfying cloud of red dust behind us. The tower came into view and I parked not too far away. I'm a bit saddened that the access was closed off in 2007 and while I am sure the committed could still get up there, the fence is pretty comprehensive around the base. The view from down here will have to do.
On the ground were heaps of big ant nests and with us walking around they were getting increasingly angry. Let's find the geocache then, shall we? The GPSr lead us a small distance away to the new hiding location and a quick find was made - among another smaller nest of ants. No dramas with getting bitten though and all in good condition here. I replaced it as found.
Back to the car and after a few silly photos it was time to get back to the Highway. My GPSr maps showed a road that carried on east to re-join the tarmac, so we gave it a try. No troubles getting out that way in the Subaru at all and it saved the bit of doubling back. A highlight of the drive back and I'm very happy to have finally found this one. Thanks for bringing me here, tornear

Saturday. Slow Puncture took off early to fuel up Blue Thunder for our excellent day out at Youngoldfella's "Nanango's First Event" event. We had a hassle-free drive from Burpengary to Nanango, particularly enjoying the part of the trip from Blackbutt onwards, as we had not been past there in a long time.
This cache was found on the way in, after a slight detour, it took us to an interesting landmark.
This was the 1st of 36 caches found on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]tornear[/Blue], for showing us this place.

Found this one on the way hone after Slow Puncture recommended it. Great spot here.

Dutchie1950 and I are on a 3-day getaway and our main objective is to attend youngoldfella's Event tomorrow morning in Nanango [^] Today we are taking it very leisurely, and turning a 2 hour trip into a 6 hour adventure.
We stumbled on the track to this one, and I wasn't sure how my small two wheel drive car would go, but we had no trouble. I wished I could have climbed the tower A quick find. TFTC, tornear.

# 1147 - Not just Friday, but a whole weekend caching with IolantheK! We're on our way to youngoldfella's event in Nanango and taking our time. What's to hurry with so many smileys to pick up on our way.
Another surprisingly easy drive in IolantheK's little car and a pleasant one as well. It was a long track up, but we got their alright. The cache was an easy find, the tower impressive, but I had hoped for better views of the surrounding area at this spot...

Great to see this one has been replaced!
As we were in the Benarkin area this afternoon finding new caches that have recently been published, we couldn't resist travelling a little bit further to find this one.
We noticed a sign along the way advising that the road will be closed for a rally car race on 14 November.
This is a wonderful big cache with lots of great swaps. The kids loved it!
