The usual Wednesday Wander for members of Befuddled Puzzle solving group had us heading southwards once again but instead of solved puzzles we were in search of caches along walks. Today it was myself, Blackadders and Anymules. [:o)] Meeting at Myponga we zigzagged everywhere in search of caches. By the end of the day we had found a few but the legs were feeling it.
Time for a walk into a park I have never visited. Parking at a gate and starting the walk in we were continuously barked at be several dogs. Up, up up went the trail. Up up up went the cachers. Where is the emoji for breathing heavily in exhaustion. [?] Finally made it to the top and went across a ridge to quickly find the cache. Wow what a workout.
***Thanks Freddo for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

Find #15102.
Another Wednesday wander of the Befuddled group with the Starfish, Adder and a Mule. The Rat was not able to join us.
Todays target area as down south around the Myponga area where a couple of high terrain hides were sought.
As always, all caches were visted and signed by all members of the group or each member had a part to play in retrieving the prize.
All caches were in good condition unless noted otherwise.
Time for a workout to get to this one and another a little further along this track. The find was easy enough but getting to GZ did get the ticker going and exposed muscles that we didn't know existed. The rest of our caching day was spent suffering wobbly legs.
Thank you for the cache %Cachename Freddo and Sallymander, found 11/05/2022

Hiding some caches on the Fleurieu Heysen trail today and this cache was too close to the track to ignore. Walked past here a few months ago as well, but today I was on my own with plenty of time to make the small detour.

Hiking today with Mazz Dog took quick detour to find this cache. Cache and contents are all good. Tftc
So this was a fairly full-on solo geocaching day for me today, and I wanted to make the most of the terrific weather that had the right temperature, sun out and blue sky. The plan was to head south to tackle some of the power trails / series, and for the most part, that was achieved. My day started at Seaford, and then it was a run along the creek finding the *Real Aliens* series. I then diverted towards the ocean, to find a nemesis oldie and enjoy a run along Moana's cliffs. A selection of the *Cats and Dogs* series were detoured past, before a break at Aldinga's bakery. Next was the *Forty Winks* series, and then back towards the ocean to enjoy a few caches at Sellicks Beach. It was getting to late afternoon by the time I drove through Myponga, and targeted a few hiking geocaches around there, and back towards Sellicks Hill. By this time, it was dark, and so made my way home, having utilised this great weather as best as I could.
This was my furthest from home that I had wanted to complete today, and rather than being around or just after lunch, it was 16:25 hr by the time that I had arrived at the nearest carpark. I had parked just as an older couple were heading back in their car, and they gave me a weird look, as if they were worried about someone rocking up with little gear or water, and wanting to tackle the Heysen Trail now so late in the day?! Well ok, I did expect to park a little closer to the start of the conservation park, rather than at the neighbour's property gate just down the hill.
I actually really enjoyed the walk in Yulte/Yulti Conservation Park, although I probably hadn't considered the up/down terrain to get to this geocache, and my fitness was tested with a mix of running and walking. There were plenty of great views, and I also passed a court of kangaroos feeding on a hill on the nearby property towards the top of the trail. The bridge over the creek was cool too. I managed to get to the cache within 20-25 min, to discover the cache full of ant guardians (refer photograph). However, the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks [@Freddo](http://coord.info/PR8C14) and Sallymander for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was also nice to have found this cache with 553 days [18.2 months] of unfound love since its last find on 11/11/2018.
It was only 15 min to make the run back down the hill, just with enough sunlight to drive back down towards Myponga! A Favourite Point from me, cheers!

Walked 22 kms along the Heysen today with End-to-End 13. Luckily this was early in the day rather than at the end. I was still fresh at this stage. A nice conservation area. TFTC. Lest We Forget
Doing the heysen and some geoching. Took a orange wristband but left a pink one.
My legs are burning, my heart rate is up, the view has me breathless! TFTC well worth the hike!
A nice walk in the park today which I didn't know existed until today. The cache was found in good condition. TFTC
Found today whilst walking the the Heysen Trail. Located while out hiking and took the opportunity to duck off track to locate. Can't believe that this little gem of a park is so close to town yet so not really well known.
Thanks for the hide.

A nice walk alone, unprepared and maybe too enthusiastic. Found the cache after deviating from the path. Heysen trail was very steep but the views made it so worth it. This is also my 150th find...and a very worth y one too! TFTC

Found It!
I found a better map. The June LWE map. It clearly shows the two approaches from the north-west and north-east. No-way of getting there from the southern side. Unless you know the neighbors, in which case it becomes almost a drive by.
I took the north-west approach. 700m as the crow flies. I reckon I did twice that horizontally and about half that in the up direction... Certainly results in a excellent view though!
TFTC (I reckon the should rename it 'Hidden Conservation Park'!)

We initially tried to get to this cache from the other side, from nearby the Lofty Peaks #7 Cache, but gave up pretty quick and drove around to the entrance to the Yulti National Park. This section of the Heysen Trail then led us to within striking distance.
Great hike and awesome views.

Very good trek to get to this cache. Wonderful views.
Picked up a travel bug, which i will find a new home for.
Looking at the log, surprised no one else has been here for a while.

More of couldn't get to GZ than a DNF...
I figured Yulti (or Yulte) Rd was the best option (it comes in on the northern side). That came to a end at someone front yard.
Try the frogs southern approach. Seemed like a good idea. Where does one park for the southern approach? I drove all the way around to Lofty Peaks and no entrance was seen. Does this park exist?

Well....leaving home with nice blue skies and heading to Myponga we are told by taurus00025 'I think we are gonna be walking in the fog', getting closer and closer it started raining when a comment was made 'its okay its only misty rain' When parking to the north of GZ we all contemplated whether we should be making the trek today and decided 'why not [?] a bit of rain has never hurt anyone' so off we went. We took the wrong turn to begin with but decided on our way back we were better off What awesome views from above [^]
Thankyou Freddo for bringing us to a lovely conservation park

Our day started of with clear blue skys, but as we got closer to myponga we soon realised that the weather wasnt with us today We decided a little misty rain never hurt noone so we preceeded on. Im pretty sure the farmer who came and told his dogs of for barking must have thought we were bonkers This is the most amazing place, so beautiful. Although we managed to do a round trip in the end the views are awesome. Such a peaceful place. Thanks Freddo for bringing me here.
My second Freddo cache for the day and my second long walk.
I wasn't sure how far I could drive so I parked at the bottom of the hill and then walked up the hill to get to the start of the walk.
What do they say about going for a bush walk.
1. Take plenty of drinking water - Fail
2. Let someone know where you are going - Fail
3. Take someone with you - Fail
So as I was well prepared I set off on for a leisurely stroll.
It was a very pleasant walk around although these old knees don't enjoy the walk down the slopes.
Despite my lack of planning and precautions I survived.
I gave a quick thought about walking over to Lofty Peaks 7, but 1.5kms one way would not have been fun. Then I'd have to get back.

First for the day and it's always good to start with a find .

Fantastic views along the way and toward the Myponga Reservoir .

Hiking the heysen today and this cache was on our list for some time, found cache spot on and in great condition. Spotted several kangaroos during our visit and even the creek had water running in it. Legs will probably be a bit stiff in the morning but the park was well worth the walk. Have been meaning to do this one for some time and today was the day. A stiff, but enjoyable, walk up the well signposted Trail. The coords were spot on and the tip ‘25m from the cache’ put us right on the spot. It was an enjoyable walk with only one short shower on an otherwise ideal day.

Out for a mornings cacheing with Snowone to the Fleurieu Peninsula and this cache was our first stop and keeping to my past form I misread the description for the cache, thinking it was just a short walk and ended up an epic slog through the bush. The scenery was fantastic and well worth the effort in the end but I fear Snowone wont be letting me decipher the logs any more!

Carina: Well, what can I say? It is our 20th wedding anniversary and last night was spent drinking and ... staying up late. I told Steve no big walks today. He didn't tell me 700m was up, up, up. It is a warm day. Normally a wonderful walk, but not for me today. Will we make it to our 21st anniversary? Thanks - really is lovely.
Steve: Frankly, I didn't think an hour could have been right for a 700m walk, (at that point I didn't realise is was a Freddo cache) so decided not to prejudice Carina's decision by giving her misleading information. An hour is a good estimate of walking time if you are walking with someone a little under the weather.
Incidentally, got some pretty negative body language from the residents of the property you walk through on the south side of the park, you'd think they get a reasonable number of hikers coming through.

700 metre over an hour in plus 40 degrees. Luckily the gate said no access to the track between December and April.
Found it! Wow, I believe now the 1 hour return trip time! Didn't think 700m (as crow flys) to cache was going to take that long! Saw some roo's along the way.

Today's plan was for a bit of exercise and this one certainly provided it. I approached on my my own path through the bush after deciding the Heysen looked too hilly - bad choice. A good quick find and then return via the Heysen, much easier. Thanks amphibians.
Geodad and Geoson (3) tackled this one. Personally would have given the terrain a 3 star with all the ups and downs, but it was a fun, vigourous walk with great views along the way.
Geoson enjoyed spotting the Heysen trail markers along the way and also found the cache
Did swaps, had a short rest before returning to Geomum who was starting to worry a little. (500m on GPSr is as the crow flies )
Came across some wildlife in our path as we di this, an aggresive looking spider and a shy echidna too [8)]
All in all a fun cache, thanks for the excercise !

Good way to work off brekki. A "brisk" walk on a breezy, freezy morning. Lotsa roos conversing with each other... Hmm, must be mating season...lots of strange noises coming from the bushes.Never heard them "talk" like this before.
