We had finished our walks for the day, and we then 4WD-d around the national park stopping at various oldie geocaches that were along the way, which included this one. After pulling up, we headed into the bush from the road, only for me to see a black snake curled. I think it was as surprised as I was to see company, and promptly retreated. We headed towards GZ, and found the cache about 6 m away in a logical spot at S 26 17.158' E 152 49.902'. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks PB1973/powellbruce for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 06/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches. It was also nice to have found this cache with 396 days [13.0 months / 1.08 years] of unfound love since its last find on 1/08/2023.----------Today, I joined [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z), and we headed north to the Sunshine Coast to Pomona and Mt Boulder.Following coffee in Pomona, we tackled [Serenity On The Mountain](http://coord.info/GC143MH) on the side of Mt Cooroora, and then picked up a few of the oldie geocaches within the area. We then headed north-west to Mothar Mountain Rock Pools in Woondum National Park, and after hiking to Mt Boulder summit, we headed along Boulder Creek tackling a couple of legendary caches [The Chief](http://coord.info/GC17W43) and [Pocohanis](http://coord.info/GC17W46). The weather was ideal and terrific, and company was terrific, thus making it a spectacular final day in winter!
PB1973 I found your cache Forest History #2 on 1/8/2023, 10:45 am. This is my find 5927 and find # 5 today. Found it after a brief search. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Whilst we were in the area for an event, we used the time to get the caches along this track.
It's all very overgrown, but we located the cache and signed the log.

#105 Fantastic cache location. It was pretty overgrown but we found it eventually. It was my first cache in over a year. A great cache to get back into it. I loved it.
Thanks powellbruce for placing this cache here. We saw it has been unfound for some time and considered unloved so we endeavoured to change that today. We had a bit of a hunt here and there. One area looked promising and lantana made its presence felt but the cache didn’t appear. Another check of the gps moved us to another nearby area and there it was. Cache found and log gladly signed before replacing.
Cheers and happy caching!

A lovely drive out this way led us to find this cache. Log was damp but signable. Dropped TB. TFTC
Pulled over on the side of the road and went for a quick explore. We didn’t see any of the remains mentioned but we did find the cache. Thanks for highlighting this spot PB1973

Arriving here, the group of merry cachers climbed out and dispersed. Our compasses all seemed to be playing games with us here, so it was down to just looking around willy billy, when I spied something that looked like a good spot. Sure enough, a peek in there revealed a cache! Travel bugs taken by those interested, and we once more headed off on our journey, most of the 4wd track done now, along with most of our day.
Thanks for the cache PB1973.

Out for a day of caching with storigirls, Mr Curious Quest and 1MinnieMoo. Next, we came to this cache. I parked the geomobile and we all climbed out and began to search. None of our phones like it here and kept moving GZ willy nilly. Time to ignore them and just hunt for the cache. Luckily, 1 MinnieMoo quickly located it. With our names added to the log and the cache returned to its spot, we continued on our way. TFTC
up the coast today with Selvagirls, Stortigirls, and 1Minnie Moo to do some caching. The cache was a quick find and after signing the log all was returned as found. TFTC,
Heading home from a day of caching with Selva Girls, 1minniemoo and Mr Curious Quest, we pulled in to make a find at this cache. A bit of a hunt and 1minniemoo made the find. Tftc Scrub Bull!
Not good when you have to search for your own cache.
New container in place so should be good for another 10 years.

Headed off to have another look for the Mothar Mountain Rock Pool cache and decided to drive through the forest drive from Cooran and check out the caches on the way. Quick find, thanks powellbruce.
Out and about the area with @Slow Puncture, @Ruzzelz, and @Bulldozer72 we had done some walking caches and were now driving out. Most of our GPSrs pointed one way, but Ruzzelz had the real one and soon had CIH.
Thanks for placing this cache, powellbruce. Found in good condition.

On the way back out after some walking caches this morning, picking up some more as we drive along. After a short scramble and a quick search Ruzzelz soon located the cache and we all signed the log.
Thanks for showing me this part of the country. TFTC

Out and about in the company of Slow Puncture, Pprime (P`) and Buldozer we had completed the caches down on the creek first up and were now collecting some of the drive by caches up in the hilly country.
While to others were checking out possible places it seems my GPS was on the money and the cache was soon in hand.

Saturday. Slow Puncture was out today with a lovely group of like-minded cachers to grab some caches up Cooran way. As we had already collected caches at the nearby Mt Mothar area, we thought we would collect a few more smilies on our way home on this dirt road. Ruzzelz found this cache and after suffering some slight collateral damage trying to open the cache container, we signed the log and replaced back to where we found it. This was the last cache we aimed to collect on our trip back from Mothar Mountain. A lovely area and much much cooler here than it was in Brisbane today – we made the right choice in coming here today!
This was the 7th of 8 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***powellbruce***, for showing us this place.

Stopped off on the way around the area and nabbed this one then it was on to the picnic area for lunchtime smoko .

Out for a drive and a picnic and discovered this national park that we hadn't happened to visit before. Nice rainforest, interesting drive.
The "clearing" is quite hard to make out now - the main tell tale sign is that where the lantana is growing must be where the clearing was. Found the ammo can safely hidden but quite wet and rusty, including many of the swaps. I rescued an ancient looking Lake McKenzie magnet and a skull keyring and left a gem and plastic coin.

I was out caching today with Dora the Explorer. After finding some other caches in the area, we decided that we should grab the other caches that were around. This was one such cache.
After arriving at GZ, a short search soon revealled the cache.
The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
There has been moisture in the container so the contents were smelling with that damp type of smell however the log was perfectly dry.

This cache was found on my #WinterRoadTrip2016, a camping road trip with friends up to Traveston, Inskip Point and Rainbow Beach. This was day 2 at Gympie and today we adventured out into the National Park for a lunch picnic at the rock pools. The water was freezing cold, but with inflatable air beds we were able to lie in the sun floating on the water!
Last cache find today on the 4WD track! It was not long after this one that there was a fallen tree on the track which I cut up with the Axe so that a vehicle could pass, it is however still fallen over most of the path.

Having a bit of a glum day... i suggested to my amazing geopartner KaleidoscopeCass that we load up the geotruck and have a day out exploring our new area... while most of the area is old news to me.. its all new for Cass being a Toowoomba girl... and what better way than with a geocache!! So.. after leaving our home at Boreen Point we headed towards Gympie... and whats better than a back road? This cache popped up along our adventure... and after quickly finding it, log signed and replaced so we could continue on our adventure. Thanks for the cache!
We were spending the long weekend exploring some of the forests in the area and picked up a few caches along the way. Cache was found safe and dry. TFTC, powellbruce.
Geocaching morning with geofamily sphir3,short-stack, SLI. This one had us searching high and low but it was finally found. TFTC

Out and about on the geocycle rounding up some smileys along the Noosa Trail Network today. I thought that this one was going to be a DNF.
The GPSr was having trouble settling under the trees and the clearing was slowly being overgrown with lantana.
I scanned around for some likely hiding spots, but did not really see one. A quick look at a few logs did give me a good enough hint. I still had to search around for a minute or two to locate GZ though.

I cannot believe that this cache has only had 24 visitors over 7 years. It was a nice little drive in Coolumroos prado. I will say that there seems to be no sign of bees anymore but maybe thats because of the National Park/State Forest thing. Not sure about that.
Thanks powellbruce. The can is still stocked with goodies.

Found this one on our trip through here with dahumbug to get a couple of smileys for our map.
Today we didn't come across any bees, And it's funny when you do stop and have a look around, you can see some of the non native trees still here going rather well too.
So far the drive has been easy, but you do need a little bit of ground clearence in a couple of spots.

Found the mango tree, found the concrete stumps, also found lots of lantana. After this interesting detour was stumped....then found it. Log book had come out of ziplock and slightly damp, put in new bag.
Road tripping again!!! Woohoo! This time it's a maintenance run with Brother Colin Time to hit the dirt tracks for the run out to Mt Boulder, and on the way we stopped so I could grab the few caches. This one was a quick dash in and grab. TFTC, powellbruce.
Having found Forest History #1 I was looking forward to grabbing this one too. Whizzing down the dirt road with Fangsoki and having parked up I followed the GPSr into the bush towards GZ. I seemed to wind up in a bit of lantana and having to mush my way through. Fangsoki was a bit smarter and took a somewhat easier route, then to prove himself, found the cache before I got there.
All in good condition and we signed the logbook. Having read the description I headed to the clearing. I always love knowing the history of such spots. I didn't spot the bees nor the mango tree though. All done, back to the car and off to the next cache. TFTC powellbruce

Captain Terror and I pulled up at this one next in the mighty Paj.
Captain Terror approached this one all wrong like.. I was happier with my approach. I found a likely hiding spot and found the cache in excellent condition. The co-ords were spot on for me - even in this type of jungle!

A day out caching with with my Dad, Sweet - Sour.
Another cache that Dad (sweet - sour) had had a lot of problems with in previous visits. So a team effort was again required. We soon arrived at GZ and the search began. With a lot less foliage around a likely spot was soon spotted and a cache found.
Thanks for the cache.

Second time lucky.
Thankfully Brother Colin's GPS works better than mine under tree cover, and we took a different path to the one I had used last time I was here. Also there has been some maintence of the grounds, I presume br forestry, a lot less scrub and grass on the ground this time.
No trouble finding the hide this time.
Maybe, because we had cloud cover this time [?][?]
All is well with the cache.
Another one off my list of DNF's

We really had our doubts about finding this one with the limited time we had, and a recent DNF ... but we gave it a go anyway and surprised ourselves . I searched the obvious feature first with no luck, and then spotted something else hidden beneath the undergrowth, not far away . I forced my way through some pretty savage flora and made the discovery i was hoping for [^]
With almost 3 years since a find, the hinge was a little rusted, but otherwise all is ok inside. We added our name to the log before returning it back to it's home, where i received some nasty scratches on my leg from getting caught up in some mongrel thorny plant ... i was so stoked with the find, i didn't even stop to see what it was . It's been over 2 years sinse this one has been found, Even though the GPS was going haywire, still gave it a good search to no avail, I think that it could do with an owner check.
Found after a short search. Interesting history in the area. Took trackable coin. Will relocate shortly.
Managed to find the right entrance to the track with the help of a local friend. The drive was very pleasant and arriving at GZ I pulled over wondering where the best spot to park would be. I was thinking about just stopping there as I didn't think many people would use the track during the week, WRONG. As I was contemplating this along came two Energex 4WD's so that solved that problem.
On to GZ and the cache was in hand at 1035hrs. I didn't see the traveller in the cache but by now I know I'm blind.
Another nice spot PB, thanks.

I was catching up on some more forest history north of Cooran today
Following the intermittent GPS signal up the hill I found meself at a lookout which I remember from a previous cache find. Looking at the roads on the map didn't help much at this point. Changing maps did however and I noticed a track leading off to the north with a neat string of caches along it
Some backtracking and there was the turnoff into the forest. A beautiful scenic bounce up the hill later and I found an interesting clearing with a cache nearby
It took a bit of searching, but after a good 45minutes I finally spotted a new candidate for a cache hiding spot. The grass sure has grown high this summer and had completely hidden the hiding spot from easy view [:o]
TFTC and history. My next trick was to see if I could shift the tree that had fallen across the track another 50metres along from the clearing [:o]
