###Cache Owner Action Needed###
This cache has been brought to my attention as likely to be missing.
After a string of successful Finds, it has now had a string of DNFs. I agree that this certainly suggests that something has happened at the cache location which requires investigation by the CO, TeamSwampy.
The cache will be disabled and I'll check back in 30 days to see if either
- the CO has checked or rectified the apparent problem
- the CO has communicated in a Note log here, when action will be taken
**If the CO has not taken either of these actions, then we can only assume that the cache has been abandoned and, regrettably, it will be archived.**
The Geocaching Community needs to have a degree of certainty that a cache is out there to be found, and the CO has a responsibility to maintain their caches.
Thank you

Down from Brisbane on hols with IolantheK.
Another one of many on our travels through Tassie, which is getting more and more difficult as everything closes down as a result of Covid-19
Memsec to the rescue , who generously offered to show us some of what Tas geocaching has to offer [^]
So off we went down to Hartz Mountain Nat Park for some beauty and caching [^]
Nice easy find for IolantheK, cache is dry and in good condition [^]

T-Tech and I are down from Brisbane for a meandering holiday around Tasmania. We flew to Melbourne where we picked up the campervan and spent a day caching there, then took Spirit of Tasmania I to Devonport. Tick that one off the bucket list!
Coronavirus has cut short our holiday, and so we are staying in Hobart for three days before attempting to get back to Brisbane. Today we are taking a drive out to Hartz Mountain National Park with membsec. The weather was against us all day, with cold temperatures and rain, but we managed a pretty good haul of finds.
It's an interesting spot. The stone shelter was impressive. A quick find thanks to the hint. TFTC, madbeitz.

Cache found in good condition. This BBQ hut is much better than I remember it.
Being leap-day and these only coming around every 1461 days, I thought I'd make a day of it.
A grand plan was hatched to try and get as many types on a day. In Tasmania (unless there is a mega on, etc) that's a limit of 8 types, being Traditional, Multi, Letterbox, Unknown/Mystery, Virtual, EarthCache, Event and WhereIGo. I had also calculated out a way of being able to do 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 but it started to fall down with Virtuals and Events - there being two events on at opposite ends of the state, and the route to collect 3 virtuals would have taken basically all day - so the 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 plan was shelved around 12:30 and the aim being to just get the 8 types.
I picked up my friend robboblah who came along and did some of the driving. We stopped to collect a Multi along our route, drove to Mt Wellington/kunanyi to obtain a Letterbox (which had some missing attributes from my grid), a Virtual (yes I'd held off finding it for this long) and an EarthCache, also picking up a Traditional because it was right there. We also had planned to get a solved puzzle coming down Mt Wellington and a couple in the Ridgeway area, BUT that required two 30 minute walks and it was quickly apparent that we had run out of time to be at the event starting at 10am. Over to the event organised by stainless-steel-rat, cachers were met and caches discussed. The allocated hour was well and truly over-run by gas-bagging me, and so we quickly ducked out to grab another letterbox and a mystery in the vicinity and some traditionals which were on the way. It was at this point that we decided the itinerary would be changed up and the long drive to the north of the state and back was all but abandoned. A quick lunch from the nearby bakery in Bellerive, which we decided to not eat in the car, and I started trying to solve some puzzles in our new target area. A drive (stopping to get some information for a multi and more-or-less DNF'ing an Unknown/Mystery on the way) down to Hartz Mountains where a Traditional and Whereigo were obtained. After which we decided to continue on to get some water from the Arve River and turned it into a bit more walking and a bit less caching. We collected a Multi and headed to the Ridgeway area to collect some more solved puzzles and finished on the eastern shore. Dinner was had and given the 'original' mission was accomplished, it was decided to call it a day.

Well catching up with logs going all the way back to last year is painful let me tell you!
After doing Hartz Peak we called in at this one and after a short search we had this one in hand and were adding out names to the logbook.
Thanks for the cache.

On the way back from our Hartz Peak trek we stopped for this cache. Mr TT and Mr WW had found this before so only SSR and I needed this find. We opened the Eski first and grabbed a cold one each and sat in the shelter and enjoyed it before hunting down the cache.
We also wandered down to the lookout for a look.....out!
Thanks TeamSwampy, it's been ages since I've been up here.

Found with Lekker_Ding on a snow trip without a lot of snow but a great day out. Thanks.
Took the long drive up here after the Tahune airwalk. Stopped here to see the viewpoint and collect the cache. Took a little while to find as our GPS was out by a little way. Once we had the right area locked in it was an easy find. TFTC.
Perfect hiding spot and the geolocation was fine! Can’t wait to relocate the tracker I found here. Thanks! Bonney
I hadn't actually planned to head this far up the road today !!
The weather forecast was 'orrible !! [:o]
Yet after finding a cach along the way and discovering that this was next closest ...
... I headed on up the hill
I'm glad I did !! [^]
Even in the misty, drizzly weather,
this area is superb
With no one around,
the cache was not so quickly found

Nice spot with good BBQ and loo , On a quick two day tour of southern Tas with Swampy. TFTC
Unfortunately no reception up here, so it took us a little while to find this. Beautiful area though! TFTC
Found on our first real snow day. Had a ball & grabbed 2 caches. This is definitely one of my all time favourites thanks to the awesome surrounds today
Found it, nice and easy. Also found a tracking dot so need to now find a new spot to put him.
Having slogged to South Cape Bay & back yesterday our old legs were not quite up to Hartz, besides we've "been there done that" many years ago. This little stroll was just what the doctor ordered. Thanks TeamSwampy.
TFTC, nicely hidden (out of view from the hut!) & all ok.
Left a TB traveling Tas - what a beautiful place to wait for his next ride!

Nice little hiding place. A favourite because of that.

The weather was looking good and a walk to Hartz Peak sounded nice and the day turned out to be delightful and calm. Once we had decided on the venue, it sudden thought sprung to mind that maybe there were some geocaches in the area and a check on the web revealed several, so this was a bonus.
One side of the car park at the end of the Hartz road was almost full suggesting that there would be quite a few out walking to the peak. It was only a few hundred metres along the track that the first returning walker was passed and this continued at intervals with the last just leaving as we reached the top. We weren’t alone for long though as several others soon arrived.
On the drive back we noticed a large number of people in the street at Franklin and when we got closer realised that many of them were dressed up for Halloween; it seems this event has become popular in some locations. In Tasmania.

A very quick find on a lovely day out. Oldest child found it in no time at all
On my little tasmania tour I fond this cache.
Was very cold today here in the hartz mountains.
Thank you for the cache, Jobsti.

A walk in the Hartz Mountain National Park for geodaughter's birthday enabled us to look for this cache. An easy and much appreciated find. TFTC!
Great drive to get here with good views of the mountains. Quick find in another pleasant spot to take a break.

We were surprised to see a combi parked up the track near the hut. After bidding good morning to the occupants, we headed off to GZ where accurate coordinates and the hint led at a quick find of the cache in a good hidey hole. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks TeamSwampy for the cache.
Stopped here on our way back from Hartz Pass. Nice, cool day, and a beautiful view! Didn't have cash so we left a few sparkly bits. With Solving4X.
We were nicely surprised at how good the Harz Road was. Great spot for hiding a cache. We enjoyed coming here so thank you TeamSwampy for this one.
Found easily thanks to the hint. I did make the mistake of thinking the Visitor Information shelter was the Hut referred to in the hint though. Luckily I got the bonus of seeing the view from the lookout as a result.
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
Staying in Geeveston for a few days. After tackling most of the caches south of Geeveston yesterday but not completing the 'list' today we returned to continue on.
Quite overcast, and a few showers which we managed to dodge, but we did see snow up at Mt Hartz.
Last cache for the day today and it was snowing when we pulled up here this afternoon. 4.50pm and 2 degrees when we hopped out to make the find! Isnt this summer [?] Great spot for a cache.

Thanks Team Swampy. I agree a lovely picnic spot. The Gas BBQ is in good working order and very clean! I will be back for a BBQ TFTC
I would have driven straight past this if it were not for the cache! Nice little area for a BBQ! TFTC SLTNLN
Stopped here on the way back down the Mtn after one of the short walks to the Lakes and then another to the waterfall. I loved this place and will be back to do the longer walks
Thanks for the cool cache! Nice dry tub. There is now a token for the showers at Fortescue Bay in there.
I was right at the cache, but almost gave up looking. Persistence paid off. XNSL. TFTC.
I visited here on the way back from Hartz peak. The cliplock was not locked...and a container is only waterproof as long as it's closed securely - as we were talking about only the other day. So the logbook (not in a ziploc) was putrid and slimy. I have brought it home with me and will attempt to dry it out, but unsure how I'll go. It really is revolting and certainly unsignable. I had a spare logbook with me in a nice dry ziploc, and I wiped all the coins dry, but the logbook wouldn't fit in the old container, so I replaced the container with a screwtop one. Unfortunately, it isn't cammoed, (and there is faded writing on top that says Rocky Whelan's Cave), which I retrieved on a maintenance visit yesterday. (Upgrading to a superduper waterproof one...that requires locks to be clipped...hmmm!). But this was working OK, so I put that in place and had to find an extra rock to put in front as it's a bit bigger than the previous container. Hope that's all OK. Thanks for the cache.
My first Tasmanian cache, found with Felix the spy and Arwen21. Thanks! Logbook is waterlogged.

This was the first stop on our way to Hartz peak. We took an eraser and left a little house.
My GPSr had a total spaz and hung every time I tried to look at the hint, so I just had to use cacher sense, which served me well for once.
A pretty day - now for Hartz Peak!

A late afternoon drive during a visit to the Huon, brought us to this wonderful spot.
The hut & loo are very convenient in an otherwise forested area.
The cache was quickly found by geomum & geokid, and we both enjoyed sitting in the hut poking through the coin swaps, seeing the different countries represented.
X-changed some coins for a marble, movie world token & spirit of Tasmania souvenir token hoping some traveller may appreciate them.
TFTC in such a great spot, getting a favourite from us

Arr problem can only add one favorite point. Still the best cache location we have visited for a while. Nice scenic drive, cool mountain air, tables and chairs for lunch, shelter from wind, oh and the car leaving told us they had left the fire burning so a nice warm spot to stop and eat and find cache. Even returned to hut to sign log and help dry out some of the damp from inside.
Oh please come and visit this cache. Any standard 2wd will make it and bring your lunch and a good book cause you will want to stay here longer then you should. THANK FOR THE CACHE.

Left the caravans at Geeveston and went caching in the area. Found with Tassie Trekkers. Quick find, liked the hiding spot. A lovely area we would not have visited except for caching. TFTC
