been here before - now with the intention to "rescue" Schutzengel - been pretty boring in past months here :-O ....

The cache has a broken lid and consequently was soaked in water - no surprise with all the rain we had in the past months!

Decided to take a drive out today and after a wrong turn somewhere ended up on this road. Noticed the caches so decided we might aswell grab them when we can. Parked up nearby and made our way over the the GZ. Cache found in the normal sort of place just as the hint suggested. No problems here.

23-Feb-22
The container is starting to get brittle, and I poked my finger through the top when securing the lid. The rest of the lid feels like it will "shatter" when it is handled.

With virtually no unfound caches available around Whangarei and the Auckland border reopening three days ago, I thought I had better make the most of the opportunity to grab some caches and the Reach the Peak souvenir, before Aunty J uses Omicron as an excuse to lock us up again.....

The plan was to head to Wenderholm and clear that area out, but the newish trail out to Mahurangi also looked appealing, especially as it is one place I have driven past 100's of times but never actually visited. That's one of the great things about caching - visiting new places..

After completing the Wenderholm caches, I still had a bit of time left in the day, so carried on to Waiwera, to try for the ones here. A short drive out to here along a road with heaps of huge potholes. Cache was a nice quick find in the most likely spot. TFTC

21-Feb-21
Up at Wenderholm doing the ad lab.
Scrambled up and down the bank 3 times before spotting
this one.

11-Feb-21
Mrs Jag and I had been up to Puhoi to do the new Adlab and PWGT cache and decided to collect the newish ones around Waiwera and Orewa on the way home. My compass was initially playing silly buggers and had me on the other side of the road, then once it settled down I made a quick find of the dusty cache as it was quite exposed. I rehid it a little better

Enjoyable day geocaching with INSS.

On a geocaching expedition from Nelson. Way back in February Isis58, no.13 and I planned a trip to Auckland for the planned Mega event. When Covid struck and the country went into lockdown we decided to wait and see what happened - - that was less hassle than trying to get refunds on our flights anyway. Well, of course the Mega event was cancelled but luckily for us, flying was an option again by Labour Weekend. We changed some of the details of our trip but decided we would fit in as much caching as we could. We were joined by Mrs SoBad. We visited some amazing places, fitted in some walks, came across lots of people - - lots of traffic too. A huge thank you to the COs for hiding caches which presented us with puzzles to solve, took us to great places, were cleverly camouflaged, were cunningly hidden - - sometimes in plain sight - - all of the above and of course an equal thank you for the ones that just gave us one more smilie. We really really appreciated them all. Thanks Big Grin!

25-Oct-20
Three along this stretch of road so it was worth a sidestep on the way to the nearby regional park. We ended up with 1 DNF and 2 finds, including this one. As Meatloaf sung, 2 out of 3 aint bad, especially as this is quite an old cache. Log signed as INSS.
Thanks.

#762 overall and #6 this morning at 12:28am. A nice easy find here. Love the view of the bridge at night. Copy / paste online log follows...
_______

My mission today was to attempt to get 200 caches in one day. I had everything ready that I needed - food and water, headlamp and spare batteries, power bank and cable, pens, pre-printed log labels (to save time logging), towels in the car so it didn't get dirty, overalls, hi-viz, tweezers, gloves and trackables. Started in Waiwera at midnight with the plan to get Route 66 and 101 Dalmations (sic) plus a few others that were on the way.

Unfortunately, at 1:39am after only 14 caches found, my car decided that it didn't want to start. This was a shock because in the six and a half years I have owned my car, it has never even once given me a single problem. I had zero desire to get stuck in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night in a car that won't start, and I wasn't prepared to leave my car running between caches because it's quite loud.

So after ten minutes when I finally managed to get my car started again, I abandoned the plan and drove home. I was gutted because it was the perfect temperature outside, there was no wind and barely any clouds, and a full moon, and I was having a really good time. Oh well, at least I quit because of something outside of my control, rather than giving up.

Thanks to cache owners for all the caches. Maybe I'll complete the rest of Route 66 one day. And now it's 3am and I'm wide awake... grrrrrrr

I'm up in Whangarei visiting my parents for one last time before I head over to the UK for the foreseeable future - however they are currently on their last leg of their south island tour, so actually aren't home at the moment, so I've got some time on my hands.

Woke up early this morning and after a quick look out of window into the darkness at the weather, I decided that I would head down Waiwera/Kaukapakapa way, to collect some caches in the Route 66 series. I solved the Route 66 series at least two years ago now and haven't had the opportunity to collect as I've always been in a hurry to get to the parents' place in Whangarei.

Another quick and dusty find here. TFTC

Well what a great Christmas New Years we have had so far it all started off in Friendly Feilding have Christmas lunch with the family then next day Boxing day off to Danniverke for a weeks holiday together so special first holiday with the Grandson hes only 7 months old, then we didn't know what or where to go next so ended up going to Napier and then across the Napier Taupo road got a cache and a trackable, not easy to stop all the time with a large caravan on the back. We finally got to Taupo and said where to now so we kept going and then we got a text message some plans next week had been transferred to the end of January so we could go away for an extra week. We ended up in Walton Gold course for two nights to finish off the Kiwi and another puzzle series got 46 caches in total some were traditionals as well, got that sorted and then headed off today decided we would do the Route 66 trail and Smilie trail so we ended up in Orewa so we are here for a few nights. We set off this morning and completed the Route 66 series had some lunch about 1.30pm then we decided to get some more traditionals in the area and then slowly head off to get some smilie series caches. we found this cache at 1.20pm signed the log and placed the cache back where we found it. thank you for placing a cache here. TFTC nice view

Great! Thanks for all the caches!

#5595. I have flown back up to Auckland for several days to present a talk. Since I have come this far I have added some annual leave to the trip and hired a car so I can grab some geocaches. Decided today to head up north and start gathering up some of the Route 66 caches which I solved on the weekend. Ended up being a better day than expected with 57 caches found plus a few DNF's. Getting close to the finish of todays caching run. Picked up this traditional amongst the many mystery finals. Fairly quick find here in an obvious place. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache TWS.

Planning is now well underway for a major Event in the Wellington region later this year (2018). Check out the details on the Wellington Event NZ (WENZ) Website. **The official cache page is GC78NMQ - WENZ Event 2018.** You can also visit the event’s page on FaceBook. If you are planning to attend, please ensure you register each planned attendees geocaching name on the official page and also on our WENZ website. There are over 300 will attends already listed. We are on our way to 500 and hopefully mega event status.

Thought this might be to do with the road cone above the actual placement but no, sadly. Easy find and replaced as found.

Just under 4 hours total to do the series, caching on my own and driving, navigating, glasses on and off all the time, not too bad an effort and great views along the route, thanks for bringing me down here.

A few years ago I had an operation on my feet and was laid up in bed for a long time, too long. Being a geocacher I re-invested this time in solving a few puzzles here and there to while away the time. Among those puzzles were the Route 66 series which I hoped to one day find if I was ever in the area, with wheels and with time to spare. This weekend is that time and I vowed to improve my current May 13th total of 2 finds on this date to better. When I've finished logging it will be a nice round 100-day!
Managed to get on the road nice and early after breakfast and increased my Rosmar finds from a paltry previous 4 to a healthy 70-plus!
I know Green Day are playing the city this weekend but today was my own version of a Green day; converting green boxes (and blue puzzles) to positive smiley faces of joy and success. I was even done by 4pm after a trip after lunch out to Shakespeare Park out Whangaparoa way and a pleasant stroll around on this wonderful sunny day. I used the hints (where they were provided) to help me with a good rate of success today. There were quite a few quarry trucks around for the first hour or so and I feared a dangerous day but after I passed the quarry I never saw another one, phew! Apologies (in advance) for the cut and paste logs but hard to remember all stories on a power trail. Even saw a Route 66 plaque on the fence at one GZ. Gotta go out and make another big day out tomorrow as well, yay.
Oh and today was landmark reaching day too, with my finds total going past a mighty 7000 finds, thanks to all CO s who helped achieve this especially rosmar T F T Ps and Cs.

During our vacation in New Zealand we also did some geocaching. we did this route 66 in two days. The puzzles have we solved with a little help of the CO. (tnx a lot)

The route was very nice we liked it and we had a stay over in Orewa at a campsite.

#5353 - #1667

This cache was found in the Route 66 series. This cache was a little more inaccessible than the one before. I had to make myself small to stretch my bushes. I was rewarded with a big box.

Thanks for cache. In: - / Out: -

Tuto keš jsme nalezli při hledání série Route 66. Tato keš byla trochu víc nedostupná, než ta před tím. Musel jsem trochu změnšit, abych se protáhl křovím. Odměnou mi byla velká krabice.

Díky za keš. In: - / Out: -

Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
