Possum must have snaffled this one. Time-pushed so returned to the car. Flaming hot today. Well over 30 degrees!
We spent a long time looking around all the hint locations and went over all the logs but to no success. We will have to come back and camp the night sometime I think.
Looked around here for a very long time, found a likely spot with indentation at the bottom however no cache to be found
Had a hunt for this, but we weren't able to find it. Found an impression that may have held a cache. Cheers Gav
had what we thought was a pretty god hunt but could not find. Will have to come back another day.
This one took a bit of time to find, my GPS is not so flash in the bush, ended up approaching from the wrong place and smashing about in the bush for a while before finding a much easier approach. TFTC
Mrs Hotspud's knees made it to here (oh and the rest of her too!), cache quickly found and SL - on to the next one but when we got to the main track Mrs went up it back to the car and Mr went and found next one. We thought that gate would have been a better place to start from!!!!
Too easy!!! here to expunge a DNF without the "help" of Mr KE O:-)
Thank you for placing this cache.
Thank you for placing this cache.
I must have walked my face into 1000 unseen cobwebs as I made my way down Cabbage Track. Who knows how many I broke with the rest of my body. The gps wasn't a lot of help as I neared GZ, but then neither was the hint. The dead cabbage has come back to life.
Could hear voices that sounded quite close so was trying to be quick in case they appeared rond the corner. There is a pair of those SoBad teeth in here - that made me feel at home. TFTC #2922
Finally! I was determined to find this one. Drove up here a couple of evenings ago right on dusk. The GPS wouldn't show the cache, no matter what I did. Ended up ringing Mr Bairdy and talking him through how to find the page and co-ords so I could put them into the GPS, but he missed a numeral [:(!], and by that time the light was fading fast - and of course I had no torch. Came home, re-sent co-ords to gps, only to be told the file already existed - but I still couldn't get it to come up on the gps...opened the gps on the computer, and the file is definitely there [?]. Realised there was another cache on the track, and went back this evening, armed with the clue for this one, just in case. Easily found, although further down than I'd expected, and I'm really glad I didn't go down the track in the dark a couple of nights ago, I would've broken my neck! And, despite the other cache showing up perfectly on the gps, the co-ords for this have yet to surface.
A lovely walk, obviously not as well utilised as it could be, although there were campers here a month or so ago, when I came here to find the cache in the park. The bird song is lovely down the track. Notice the spelling mistake on the council board? There's no Kowhia track....

Had a DNF last visit and I was struggling this visit - so had to ring the owner. Eventually found about 20m away from my GPSr GZ. Thats the bush for you. No need to go bushwhacking - hmmmmmm
Almost killed me this one. We entered the bush through the old farm access down from the car park where there were some weekend campers. Missed the Cabbage Tree track marker (too busy chatting to bro) and walked to the very end of the bush. Found the track on the way back just 50 mtrs from where we entered the bush. Not being fit, we had to force ourselves to go down the track but as Bitsprayer says, some lovely views and finding the cache was not too difficult
TFTC. A great bush block to have a wander in. GPS seemed to be all about the place. I was beginning to think I was blind as I just couldn't find the correct spot. Then decided to follow the track a little further and what do you know? Yes I immediately recognised the caching spot.
Walked past the GZ several times trying to get a GPS fix, then used my eyes and there it was. A nice piece of damp bush on a 40 degree day. TFTC
Nice stand of native bush in an out of the way spot. After shooting around the dust roads most of the day it was nice to take a short walk in the shade and coolness under the trees. Bit of hunting eventually turned up the cache. Took The Hitch Hiker TB. TFTC
Another "who knew this was here" place. Thank goodness for geocaching otherwise we would never have been to any of these places. Lovely walk through podocarp forest. Easy find. Left Hitchhiker travel bug. I think he will enjoy the bird song and the bush.
Good to see this reserve has water and toilets at the suggested coordinates. After studying the map on the information board nearby, we decided to use the other track to get to the cache. What a wonderful spot of bush. Even the birds here are super-friendly! As Mr bjtrekker put out his hand to call to one, a fantail swooped down and momentarily touched down on his hand before flying away. Younger members were trilled! A nice bush walk on a day with no muggles about. A good hide. Thanks Bitsprayer bringing us here.
Buggered if I could find it - checked many examples of the clue but this one defeated me this time.
This was a great discovery! Another place we can camp that is out of the way and quiet. We may well be back. We trotted down the hill and then hacked and coughed our way slowly back up again. Just as well it wasn’t too far. Fantastic ‘tree’ at GZ. Just shows what a hardy durable plant they are. TNLN TFTC
Found with YuGeo4, a nice bush walk and the bonus was finding the cache, cool spot for a cache, thank for bringing me here. TFTC TNLNSL (1419)
A great cache that led us to this neat bit of bush.
TFTC and thanks for this great location

Out doing the rounds of local caches. I was dead beat after the walk to this one in oppressive heat. A quick find at the site thankfully and not a one to disturb me.
Close enough to head up the road and find this so through the bush we went to the continuous calling of bellbird and tui. Great day, neat cache TFTC
Nice day for a walk in the bush. Found cache after a small scramble -then realised track curved right back around, so could have stayed on track to GZ!
Had been meaning to go grab some ftfs today but left home to late and had an invite to lunch in opposite direction so we only got as far as Pleasent Point. I wasn't going home without finding a cache and this was kind of on the way to where I was suppossed to be going. Boys enjoyed the walk in the bush and we heard lots of bird song. It was a nice cool walk on what was a very hot day out of the shade. Very impressive views from a top the hill. Thanks for the cache.
We really enjoyed this hunt. Ton left the track prematurely and did his usual flail-around-in-bush-lawyer trick.I (Con) sensibly carried on following the looping track. We both arrived at Ground Zero about the same time, but I was not worse for wear like him!

a great place and we were without a GPS so weren't sure if we were in the right place, but it was so nice it didn't matter. After a bit of searching, we found the cache.
Another, "I didn't know this was here, what a neat place" moment. Took a while due to wandering GPS, and no clue, but finally cracked it. Thanks!
Spent the afternoon clearing away most of my "yet to finds" in South Canterbury, north of Timaru. Never knew this place was here. Lovely scenery - just had to place my own 2.6km away.
You just managed to keep up keewee?! I was dawdling But like Mr Puffy said, a place you wouldn't have expected to find a camping ground, but the track is worth the stroll, and hey that's right, there's a cache here too TFTC
Wow - who knew there was a camping ground / park back here!? A quick dash through the bush with Team Chelmo leading the charge. I just managed to keep up. Nice hide. Retrieved Mook to move him along before Da Boo catches him up! Dropped keewee in for a look TFTC
Lucky to find this as it was a lot darker in the bush than I was expecting. A pity it doesn't get more use, it's a nice remnant of bush. TNLN Thanks.
A really nice walk - definitely the highlight of the day. The pity was I was watching my feet on the slippery steps, and didn't watch the bush much. I decided to do so more on the way back, only to find that the second 1/2 of the loop track was nowhere near as nice. TNLN, Thanks.
Never realised this bush existed. Very nice.

1846. What a lovely area of bush. The bird songs were clear and all around us. We were glad that it was no longer raining but it was a slow walk in as it was very slippery. We found the cache and were able to make a quicker exit.
Thanks

Continuing the journey from middle earth, we went bush. A very pleasant walk after a long drive. And with regard to the cache - it lives! T4TC, TNLN
Saw this new cache on Friday evening.
Thought about heading out on Saturday morning - - -
- - -Some of us have to work - -but not me, on this occasion.
Youngest boy, however, had a rugby match, and I had to wait till the end of a Trademe Auction, till 2:30pm . .
leaving it a bit late to head out to the sticks.
Absolutely lovely day up there today, however, and warm to boot.
Cache found with no trouble at all
Have been past this reserve in the past, and this is the first time to actually have a look.
Dropped in a TB which had been languishing in a "Lost and thought-muggled" cache for many months.
Cheers

Our first FTF..... expected the place to be frosty or under snow, but it was a beautiful clear morning though the wind was bitingly cold.... the GPS tried to take us way off course for some reason, but eventually pointed us in the right direction, and the co-ords were spot on.
Been intending come up here in the camper, but haven't got around to it yet. Knew of the camping area, but didn't realise the tracks were there.
Took angle screwdriver and left Arizona hacky sack and pencil and sharpener.
Thanks Bitsprayer!
