Didn't get this one this time as too far to walk and I wasn't up to it today. Will try again another time. Also river quite high. Looks like it might be a nice spot for fishing next time.
Spent quite a bit of time looking, and looking and looking, yep didn't find it, maybe next time
A brilliant sunny day... well worth walking up the river looking for this one,.... spent half and hour looking for this.... but to no avail... found the spot, but no cache, not sure if it has been removed, or whether the river has taken it away.

Not doing a DNF as we really did not attempt it properly
If we were not just starting out on a trip home and had more time I may have taken off shoes & socks, rolled up the jeans and waded across to where I could walk up the shingle.
Never mind. will know for next visit
Thanks anyway

A neat test for our reasonably new Sorento - to drive there. The river wasn't too bad. I was a bit worried about comments about getting water above axle depth though... I looked in the obvious spots (including an obiously 'not good enough' look. Went back to the car to get the pda - noticed that there were no hints - so looked a bit harder, and there it was. Nice tricky tie-in! +TB Thanks.
Dropped in for a quick visit with "Dr Evil's World Tour" geocoin.

Another cache on our (keewee & rattusbaggus) list to knock off. Yay. There was a stream where there is not usually a stream so I had to resort to putting the gummies on. Took on several activities I was not planning on to retrieve this cache! And I have a fear of that too!! Anyway, retrieved cache - brilliant hide. Cache was wet through, so handed to Team Chelmo of Total Climate Solutions Limo Services for maintenance. TNLNSL. TFTC.

I wasn't allowed to cross the stream as it was over the top of my gumboots, so dad (keewee) retrieved the cache. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Plenty of rubbish at the parking spot. walked up river and there in the river was an abandoned car, must be something about the ashburton because we seen two cars abandoned in the river and one tractor. Had fun finding the cache. TNLN
Nice one. Had a good walk in from the carpark, Walked straight into the bush and saw the cache. Retrieving it took a little longer. A good cache. Thanks! Cheers Gav [1830]
A day out with my daughter... went right to the spot, hunted at ground level then resorted to climbing trees to look under where the pipe is attached... but to no avail, the first in a dissapointing day (see Wild West(erfield) log)...
Nice walk up the river. No choice but to get wet feet at one point, oh well, never mind. Good hide, missed it on the first pass.

Where did all the water go? rchdlyn drove almost right up to the GZ. TFTC TNLNSL
Literally dipping Daffy Duck TB. Was planning to place him here but he did not fit! - his feet stuck out. So since he was kinda in . . . . will find somewhere else for him to visit (hopefully for longer next time)
Nice walk along the river with the dog. While holidaying in Ashburton for xmas
Was going to attempt today, but decided against it as it was cooling down and we didn't have all the right gear - will return soon with correct gear (ie. Fishing rods). Think we will do some CITO when we attempt also - I'm sure the dump is meant to be a bit further downstream... not here! [:o]
A nice cache , I had to find another way of getting to the cache as the river levels were very high,I managed to locate another legal access which brought me out right beside the right location..Lucky me,,,Thanks
Having read the logs, I'd brought my sandals, so the walk upriver was easy. I could probably have driven my low-slung wagon to within 50m of GZ. The cache had me thinking for a few minutes, then suddenly - "Aha". Nice hide. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(922)
I am sure I had logged this as a dnf before but never mind it is smily face time this trip. Third try, first didn't get past first river crossing, second got to gz and the third...
Nice sunny afternoon so talked family into going for nice strool along the river (oh by the way there is a cache here).
JKs favourite bit was leaving footprints in the sand.
AK enjoyed that as well as walking in the water.
Dad loved retrieving the cache.
Mum enjoyed finding nicely coloured stones.
We all threw stones in the river, making them go plop.
Got back to car with lots of stones and also wood that JK picked up but Dad had to carry (for the log burner).
Thanks for the cache and getting us out of the house tnlnsl.
At least the next supermarket trip won't take so long now.

I really must learn to come better prepared when caching in Ashvegas. I was in entirely inappropriate clothing AND footwear so was thwarted by both the river crossings and the undergrowth (when I tried an alternative track along the stop-bank). Will be back. Possibly with Bo of bo&bronnie fame and his Bighorn!
Parked the car at the carpark and walked up the river on foot. Found the site ok but then struggled to retrieve the cache from its hiding spot and again to open it to write up the log. It was a much easier task to put it back. First hint of rain as we trudged back to the car. Pleased we had thought of wearing gumboats today as the water at the river crossings was well over our ankles. TNLN
Great place for a cache, but wee did have to look three times.
Thanks Bitsprayer

Wow - awesome feature.
Drove up the river in my Honda CRV.
I'm not sure that my wife's Pajero would make it though!!!
(It doesn't like getting its feet wet).
Cheers,
Moneydork.

1525. It was a good walk into the cache site. There was lots of activity going on in the immediate and surrounding areas but we were unobserved at the actual site. Liked the cache name and the container.

In the words of Rocky in the Rocky Horror Picture Show .... "I am just seven hours old ....." He should have added "and too young to be found". Something to do in the evening, in the dark, after the rain, up the river. First to find. Yippee. Nice hide. Nice pipe. Thanks. Took pin, left a smiley button cos thats how we felt.
