Hi all,
It is with considerable regret I will have to archive this cache. After the number of "Did not find" logs I went out today to find out why. I fear it is much changed. I think the mass of vines that was covering the area was scooped up and dumped on the mound that harboured the cache which is now well and truly buried. There is now no good place to hide a decent sized cache that I can find. Of course a micro or nanno could find a home somewhere about the area if anyone is so inclined to put one in. It is a wonderful area and deserves a cache.
Cheers,
Dan

No cache, no Pelicans. Plenty of rednecks in noisy boats though. Three sets of eyes spent 30 mins searching to no avail. Will keep a watch on this one.
Nice walk but unable to find under a majorly overgrown mound of something.. Plenty of snake skins and canoodling toads..
my second visit to this location, at least I reached GZ this time
coordinates took us to a mound of earth and 3 sets of eyes searched for about 30 minutes, used the hint to no avail
will keep a watch on this cache and check next time I'm in the area

roadworks still going on and local traffic only means I will leave this one for another day, I do have to come back and complete some of the walks here
Thanks again Danielc for a well placed cache. Would never have come down here except for the cache. Loved the bird life and was back on the old hobby of bird watching for a while before returning to the latest passion and soon had the cache in hand. TNLN SL
Found on our "Making Memories" tour of Mainland Australia.
Today we explored Atherton Tablelands using geocaching as our guide.
Many thanks to all cache owners for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.

The path is really badly overgrown. I would have persisted with wading through neck-high grass and vegetation, but I had the kids with me and it was getting to be pretty hard going. So I'm not sure if I should log this as 'needs maintenance', as it wasn't the cache itself that had the problem, rather the path itself! Even the information sign about the track looks like it's about to crumble. =/
Very overgrown. Spent an hour looking but no luck. Come back another day when I have more time
This place has been completely overgrown with vines and weeds.
I ventured about 15m into the thickness, concern of lurking snakes and creepy crawlies. Eventually gave up and deemed this one too unsafe to be worth the find.
It probably once was a nice place, but not now!

Such a nice spot well out of the way from anywhere i would have ever gone. Thanks for showing me the area.
Geodad and i nearly walked right past this one today but i remembered the hint from reading about the cache a few days ago so a quick grab and sign. Nice spot you dont normally get to see.
TFTC. Very overgrown area. Quite pleasant.

Thanks Dan. Nice spot for a walk and picnic lunch sitting on the ground near the water's edge.
Nice walk along a tiny little part of the lake , before going for a drive and finding some more

On our northwards through the tablelands we planned to visit the lake at the Pelican Point. But meeting our first really wild Walaby cannot be planned. Thanks to this cache this happened and we are double happy.

Found it under the vegetation. Not the easiest find but one of the better locations by the water.
Holy Dooley! This was a scary one as it was all overgrown with weedy vine. I couldn't see where I was walking and was a bit scared of snakes but there was none to be seen. I couldn't see what was cement or anything as suggested in clue to direct us only a big field of weeds with weeds covering whatever trees/shrubs or other things that were just big green blobbs. I have never seen anything like it, it was amazing, made me want to go home and weed so I didn't end up with a garden looking similar in the future. GPS was great and we got to GZ, was very greatful for walking stick to poke around to find cache. TFTC and another interesting spot I've never visited before.

Found it with HMW took pencil grip & name tag and left clever pen & magic slate! We parked at the wrong car park but still found the cache
We were just searching when a vehicle pulled up and we were greeted as geocachers. Good to meet the owner Danielc and his wife, who confirmed that that we were looking in the right place. We found it soon after. TFTC.
Wow. Should be named overgrown. In a sea of tomato vine we found it after 10 minutes.

While here for the barra bash , we were not having much luck fishing so we grabbed a few caches. We arrived via boat and had a quick lunch at gz, great spot for a cache, we noticed there were dozens of cherry tomato plants growing wild but didn't try any as we were a bit anxious about all the nasties( of the green and shrubby variety) in this part of the country!! TFTC
A quick find by mr. & mrs 1SR at 13:50. The wild tomatoes growing nearby are lovely.

This was a lovely little walk. Very peaceful. We located the cache after a pleasant stroll, and enjoyed sampling the bush tomatoes. TFTC.
Parked at the suggested co-ordinates and enjoyed an easy walk up the the cache site, disturbing a couple of wallabies along the way.
Located the cache easily enough. TNLN.

Hello Danielc and thanks for the cache. What a lovely walk to GZ. There's condensation inside the lid - dried it out as best I could. Took 'dino' and left norwegian dolls.
Hi all,
Went out and renewed the container for this one. Please return cap to the cache to prevent water getting in.
Cheers,
Dan

We was quite a bit worried at first that the cache is quite off the beaten track. If I just think about the hordes of cachers in my home town, who try to be FTF, this area would be trampled to death... Luckily here the frequency of visits is much lower.... [B)]

WanderingAus wandered by on day 51 of our annual 'Climatic Refugee' trip, and after fighting gpsr bounce for a couple of minutes managed a GAFF 1 find. I hate hunting in long grass, but I must confess to hiding some of my own in similar spots.
My find No 2561, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC in for a visit before grabbing it back again.

Hi all,
After reports of the log being damp, I decided to go out and check on this one. I brought the old log home to dry out and replaced it with a new one. I dried out the container, but it will definitely need replacing. I will do that in the near future. Those damned vines certainly grow quickly.
Cheers,
Dan

Vines must grow very fast over this side of the country - the track was still clear but the last 50 metres or so was dense vines, it doesnt look like they maintain this area anymore, perhaps because of the new estate going in nearby? Nevertheless the view is wonderful and worth seeing from a different spot.
The cache is a little damp.

Very over grown but managed to get lucky on this one and walked straight to it. The log is damp.
The whole area is covered in vines, but my GPS managed to get me within a couple of metres. Container was damp inside, bag has holes and needs replacing - a wise cacher once told me not to put large pencils or pens in the bag, and I think they were right!

What we thought would be a nice stroll along the bank, ended up being a little adventure for the kids. Riding down dirt tracks, trying to take shortcuts, searching through vines and then the long trek home again to our Easter vacation nice. It was a great early morning though. TFTC. The Azzo's (found 2/4/10, logged 9/6/10)
We found this cache with ease after we solved the encryption. Saw wallabies, huge cicadas. Fantastic walk through forests. Have lived in Cairns all my life and never knew it was there. TN, Left white feather.
Toads, Toads oh so many toads heavy rain meant no muggles. Cache so difficult to find due to overgrowth. But not to be beaten we searched and searched though after the thoughts of not nice animals hiding in warm dry spots came to mind. Cache dry and intact TFTC
Interesting spot - you do know how to find all of these little interesting places don't you? Enjoyed our trip in to GZ but we would not have found the cache but for the clue. Area is quite overgrown with weeds and vines. All dry and secure with cache. TNLNSLTFTC.
Linc, Lara, Les and La Bella headed up to Tinaroo for a bit of R and R. Found this cache by boat and had to figure out a way to get from the water to the track....through the long grass we went a treking. Lovely spot. Wouldn't have found it without the hint.
Found after a short search of the area.
Took a plastic bull and left a car.
Thanks.

We were all set for this cache this time around. Ballbag tried a few weeks ago from the water side. This was much to Bumblebee's alarm as he was in only short and thongs. This time we decided to tackle it from the land side and donned our hiking boots and geocaching gear. The GPS lead us to a spot which has been massively overgrown with vine. Although we were able to uncover some of what the clue referred to, the only thing we managed to do was get mixed up in a heap of animal poo and lose the end of our hiking pole. Ballbag was not at all impressed and we both agreed that it would be better to abandon the search that uncover something a little more nastier and reptilian. Next time we will come armed with something to fight off the vine.

We are tired and sleepy back in the office now, because of sun and lunch and walk and GPS and car and drive and sun and walk and no pelicans. GZ a bit overgrown so V supervised from track and R searched until finally cache put up its hand and said "Here I am".

Now we have found one while we are on holidays up here from Gold Coast we are in a much happier headspace. We set off early to try and avoid the ‘cyclonic weather’ that was supposedly heading our way. A big day out was planned skirting around the edges of Tinaroo Dam. Good hide. Looked around and at first thought the clue was strange for the area. Eventually had the cache in hand and our day was off to a good start. Left a handmade origami spinning top and took Racing car.
Wet day and very long grass so sent husband in to get cache - only had thongs on and saw a snake earlier - better to be safe than sorry.

nice stroll out to GZ in light rain ...
but the wind came out of my sail when we looked at GZ and the ammount of vegetation covering a mound of 'god knows what' [?]
gingerly pooked around till a couple of spots appeared, and thankfully located the cache without too much effort and weeding
cheers - nice little spot and local rehabilitation effort ...

Number 9 on a run of 22 on the tablelands this weekend for the Camels. Enjoyed the walk in to the cache, felt a bit sorry for the birdwatchers trying to do their stuff VERY quietly as we trampled about in the undergrowth looking for the cache. Found by the Junior Camel, took a Korea Drum Keyring, left a Fish Eraser. No Pelicans to be seen!!! TFTC.
Walked into this one even though the gate was open. Stirred up some of the local wild life as search for cache took a little while. What would we do without the little hints? TFTC. TNLN.
This was a really nice one, we would have missed this lovely spot! We saw a wallaby family, even though we didn't do the entire track. Enjoyed lunch and the sun on the grass.

I suspect that the level of the dam was a tad lower when this cache was hidden, but on this wet and miserable day I had to wade through knee deep water and continue on a very water logged track all the way to GZ. Oh wow, do I really want to go in there in bare feet? Luckily the hint made the difference. TFTC TNLN
I really appreciated finding out about this place. I had a couple of hours to explore before I sucumbed to the rain. Thanks for setting up the cache here. Left "Billy Bear" TB.

Last cache for the day at 3pm. Nice quiet spot.
The path has been recently slashed and in very good condition.
Found no trouble finding the GZ. However a bit worried about previous logs regarding snakes, so left the kids on the path and went into the cache alone.
Wet and warm day, ready to head home.

Bouyed by 2 out of 2 finds since taking up this pastime we headed off on the walk to this site. Some concerns at weed growth around the cache inviting unwelcome visitor (snakes etc). Finally zeroed in and located cache without any encounters of the wrong kind. TFTC.

It's a real shame that projects like this are hidden away, a lot of work has gone into the area, and into maintaining access to the area such as those nicely mowed tracks.
My GPS led me down the obvious way, and then ducking from one track to another through scrub as the direction changed. The problem with watching the GPS for clues is you don't watch the path, and hence almost stepped on poor little snake basking in the pathway. It would have ruined his day if I had stepped on him.
It seems there are a few small snakes in this area, but only only little ones, and he was happy to pose for the photo! Stick to the mowed paths and you will be fine, and maybe lucky to see one like I did.
Oh yeah, I found the cache too!

Yeah, more dice. Would you beleive, I did not take a backpack, and took a gamble on what to swap - dice. What did I find in the cache - dice! What are the odds!

[Hello,
we diligently searched in ]the nearby trees[ until we arrived ]at the concrete[. Lovely, bright sunshine, bees humming, a pelican on the water, a huge kangaroo in the paddock.
This new cache is really well equipped [^] with tempting contents for every taste and age.
We almost met Platy's Mob. They must have arrived only a little while after our visit. It would have been fun, because we met them already Geocaching at "Canuck Down Under" a few weeks ago.
There is another funny coincidence: While we found DanielC's "Pelican Walk", Daniel succeeded in lifting our "Bobb'in the Woods". Congratulations!
We would like to encourage him to try our nearby "Qld top secret". It would be a FTF and a real bushwalking fun!

An easy find by Platy Jr. May be it was an omen when we turned off the main road. Platy jr had the GPS until 75m from the site. Mr Platy fine tuned the area however Platy jr scored the find. We might be the first to log it however we cannot claim the FTF.

Spotted this one the night before we headed off on our trip north. But we missed the up-date with the new co-ordinates. Bugger! So we were going to be behind the eight ball right from the start.
The co-ordinates we had put the cache in the middle of a fenced paddock. Of course we came to the conculsion that something was wrong so we checked and rechecked the co-ordinates in the GPS.
We ended up trying a couple of other different combinations but none of those worked so we headed off on the track hoping that we might spot a likely looking spot using the hint as a clue but that was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Yes we did enjoy the walk but not finding the cache was disappointing.
So it looks like we have to make another trip up north. Bugger!
