Following our long and unpleasant (in my opinion) climb to the top of Mt Cooroora, there was a bit of time to regroup and find some nice, easy caches. And that was what we did. No big ups and downs, mainly almost park and grabsyay! This was our longest post-Cooroora walk, and it was very peasant.Because we havent had any decent rain yet, the creek wasnt flowing, so our walk was without hassle, and there was no need to call Triple Zero. While I was looking elsewhere, Shazzar66 made the find (as she usually does). The cache came with a cache guardian (see pic). I retrieved the Travel Bug, and replaced it with one that I had collected earlier in the day. Ill move it on shortlyThanks, cooroy scouts, for the cache placement, and dahumbug for keeping this Oldie alive for our enjoyment.
Looking for a full day of caching, I packed my car and headed up the coast to camp at Duppers place so we could make an early start. We found somewhere safe to park and made our way to the cache. Happy with a quick find here. There was a large snail shell attached to the container.I found your cache, Triple Zero today.dahumbug, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF
After a heart starting short climb, we went on a drive to collect some older caches for Muggle65. He needs a huge number for a north Brisbane challenge. At our current rate, he will qualify in about 15 years. Beautiful day and some stunning countryside. Thank you for the fun
Found today with a great group of climbers. After the near by cache done we wandered around to this old cache. All good here at gz with your cache. Thanks for bringing us here.TFTC
While up the mountain our fearless group of mountaineers swung by this oldie and found an unloved ammo can. Well I didnt find it, I walked over the top of it while Stairman spied it.
Great little hike in. Signals a little jumpy with the app. But located logged. And returned as found.TFTC
Spending the weekend away on the Sunshine Coast with Peppa and we are spoilt for choice with caching options. After rock hopping up Boulder creek we are gradually making our way back south with a few caches on the list to stop at.
I was keen on this one due to its nice D/T rating and who can go past an oldie! As much as Renaldo likes to think he’s a 4wd, we thought it best to park at the road entrance and do the rest on foot. Peppa made the find when we reached GZ, all is good here.

Davinells and I are having a weekend on the Sunshine Coast… Staying at Ilkley, don’t try and find that on a map, and having attended Grannysmith1947’s event, Slower Geocachers Who Like to Walk in Woondum National Park we have just one or two more caches on the list…
This oldie helps Davinells with a challenge somewhere for something… so here we are…
A quick find… tftc…
Left sahasara Geocoin to carry on…

We're house sitting nearby so couldn't pass this one up since it helps with our 4th fizzy grid. Having been fined in the past for driving where we shouldn't have, we decided to park the car at the turn-off and walk in to GZ. It was a lovely pleasant walk and we soon had the log book in hand.
Thanks for find #3538

Fairly quick find with bennyboppers, mnance101 and misssusan after walking to the top of the mountain nearby, then a drive around and a short walk to the cache. Tftc
Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Bennyboppers, Misssusan79 and Lisylou). Nice easy find for such a high D/T. TFTC!
After our epic climb to Serenity, we made our way back to the car, then took this section of the track out to the road.
Thus section is certainly less maintain then the other half, and to be on the safe side, we had our wheel locked in 4wd.
A quick check of the co ords landed us 20m away.
I walk down the track to land about 10m from the cache.
Husband return to the car, and drove down towards me, where I quickly found the cache.
Cache in good condition including the log book.
I left a fly rubber rocket toy (the ones you toss in the air) and a few plastic animals.
Now off for a swim

Out on a bit of recce for some serenity took me along this fun undulating fire trail this afternoon.
I was blissfully unaware until our exit onto the graded dirt road that we shouldn't have been where we were and it should have been instead a hike in. My bad. Not many trails out here bicycles even shouldn't be on let alone 4wd. One to note.
Still a relatively quick find by teslavj a good few metres bushbash off track.
Thanks cooroy scouts for hiding a cache here and dahumbug for keeping it going. A nice d/t combination too.

Our last one around this mountain for today. Serenity interesting for me, but not without rope as I could read.
This was a nice walk to relax the muscles after the hike on top.

What an adventure, I haven’t walked this side of the mountain before, so it was a nice change of pace. Accessed the cache from the wrong side so I did a little bush bashing to get there. TSLSSL, TFTC!
*Time to be a leader, a responsible cache owner, a thoughtful person regarding humanity.
Groundspeak or Geocaching HQ have been slow to be on the front foot regarding this matter so its left for us cachers to lead the way*
**"With discussions here about whether or not or it is okay to ignore closures etc to go caching, please let me offer some perspective.
Given the likely death toll from COVID-19 in the USA will be in 6 figures at least (that’s tens of thousands) and more likely in 7 (that’s millions) as well as in 8 figures worldwide (that’s tens of millions), not following restrictions designed to save lives is industrial grade selfish.
So our streaks may have to end.
And our physical caching may have to stop.
Hopefully not too many of our lives will end but some most definitely will. And I am certain around the world some of our caching family have already died.
COVID19 hangs around on surfaces so you don’t even have to physically be in the presence of someone who is positive. Just touching a surface (cache?) they have touched recently and then touching your face will do it.
I really really hope that a “Hail Mary” comes through and we get a vaccine in less than the expected 18 months. But until it is actually here being given to large numbers we are all at risk. And while older people are clearly more at risk young ones are dying too.
As I am sure some of you are wondering about my qualifications to offer this view, please check out my background. Not too hard if you have Google or another search engine. “Dr Bill Griggs” should do it.
Please stay as safe as you can people.
And please follow the rules designed to keep you and all of us safe.**
Cheers to Bill, aka Brad&Janet for the information.
Yours in Caching,
Corey aka dahumbug

I have followed the trails to this one from the Cooroora Lookout cache up and down the trails went. Circled at GZ a few times and then spotted my favourite cache container. Now the walk back to the car parked at Ferguson Road. TFTC
The brief description was everything that was needed for this one. Its less than a 500m walk to GZ, easy terrain, and once there just follow your geo senses. Jackpot! No signal lost, no bush bashing, just straight forward. Given that, it surprised me that there haven't been many recent logs. The cache name doesn't refer to emergency but forms part of the coords and is a clever play on it.. Found it in pristine condition and am grateful for the likes of this CO and others that adopt and maintain caches to keep them going when life occurs.
Out for a stroll.. 2nd time here. First time was a few weeks ago but it was on dusk and light was failing quickly. We looked but because of a recent fire the bush is thriving with new vegetation and well and truly overgrown. After a good look and gps bouncing all over the place my amazing geowife KaleidoscopeCass made the find... after high fives and celebratory hoorays we signed the log and put all back as found. Tftc!
Hmmm a cache that hasn't been found for over a year - challenge accepted! After a recent attempt in failing light, my geohubby WallabyTim and I were eager to return and make sure this cache was still here. It felt like we were going around in circles as the GPS kept bouncing, but it was only a 2.5D so surely it can't be too cryptic right? If in doubt always go back to geosenses, which narrowed my search and I felt a tad clever when I found the cache where Wallaby had walked over it a few times hehee. Loving the trails around this area. Makes for a great day out exploring. TFTC
Mr Just a Trifle was out for another day of caching with ViKoCZ to pick up a few target caches to help with various challenges The first cache for the day was Serenity on the Mountain, and depending on how it went, that would determine how many other caches would be found for the day We were lucky for the rain to have had held off until after that cache was completed, but in reality, there were only just a few short sprinkles while we were driving down the highway
Thank you Brother Colin for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

#4290 [10:06] found with mr. just a trifle on our way to the main todays target - serenity. we spent couple of minutes here searching, finaly found and logged. thanks for this cache, luckily we didn't have to call
Quick easy fun find . Completed after helping cdh55 with a nearby cache that I completed for 2nd time.
On our way to Boreen Point, stopped off for this one. Started along track and then went into the bush but after some time, I came back out onto the track again. Made it more difficult for myself than it should have been. Once at GZ, cache was soon in hand. TFTC Brother Colin
We had travelled to Pomona today with a view to finding a few caches whilst a small engine was being fixed at Cooroy.
This was the second cache on the list.
We pulled up at a safe spot and crossed the road to see if there was an obvious track. There was not but after a glance northward, a National Parks sign was spotted and we decided that this must be the start of the track.
After entering the track, we took a nice stroll to the approximate GZ where we had to deviate from the track. The grass was long and wet but this would not deter us.
After a short search the cache was located.
The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache returned exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.
Find # 350.

A day out with 5Meerkats, consisting of 4wding, caching, hunting Evils and climbing a mountain seeking serenity now! ONThis container was replaced on behalf of the CO. It is now a regular size, and is placed in the same spot as before.
Out with Orange Crew on a long overdue adventure. The day was perfect for it. A cold start, but the day proved to be fine, cool and breezy. Just perfect.
Again (similar to Roman Bones, nearby) this find was made all the more easier given Orange Crew was carrying it at the time! A lovely location on the way in to Serenity on the Mountain. What a great day out.
TFTC Brother Colin!

I think a 000 call out might be needed on this one! We had a really good look and got ourselves totally black in the process. The area has been burned as a previous cache hunter noted. We couldn't find any evidence of cache or burned cache or burned cache contents! Not being into throw down caches we didn't leave a cache just in case the original is somewhere hidden really well especially since the difficulty is 3.5. You are no longer able to access this track via a 4WD from either direction. We had to leg it but the family including the little chikins didn't mind a nice easy walk in - not sure where terrain 4 comes from! Over to you Brother Colin
My only dnf today, Brother Colin has been contacted. I have a feeling the recent fires have gotten the best of this one.
I was lucky enough to be in the area today and quickly navigated my way around to the safest parking spot. I was also lucky to arrive a only couple of days after the track in had been re-graded. It was a beautiful walk in to GZ and I saw many animal tracks in the dusty track, mostly goanna tracks.
After a short search I found the friendly guardian so thanks Brother Colin for looking after this nice old hide.

Yep I certainly felt like I might have had to call triple zero once or twice on this trip. Having come to this spot after a trip to 'serenity', and come in from the 'other side' we had commented that this way must surely be the easier...well... we now know we were wrong!
A quick find for Crew153, and happy to move further on to another archived cache in the area.
Thanks Brother Colin

After our assault on the mountain the convoy headed back past this cache and the cachers who hadn't already signed the log piled out and I had the cache in hand in seconds.
Thanks for a simple cache after the struggle on the mountain.

On our way to serenity, Net88 and I searched for this one as we were the only 2 in our party that hadn't found it yet.
I searched one end, Net the other, but Net found it first.
Nice spot for a cache, thanks cooroy scouts and Brother Colin

Thnakfully no one had to call Triple Zero while we were making the find on the previous cache at Serenity on The Mountain, although I did think my heart would stop at some oints on the climb. On departure from the area, and after negotiating the rough track out the group made a quick pit stop to grab this one and sign the log. Tftc
I had organised a group of geocachers to get together for the day to accompany me to grab a few important geocaches. Just before this cache our group split in two. There were two 4wd's in each group and we somehow took two different ways up to Serenity. The Captain was driving the lead car of my group and we approached serenity from this direction.
The convoy stopped so Agap and I could grab this cache. I grabbed a bottle of water and headed down to GZ to where Agap was already searching. According to his log, I found it but I thought he had found it. Hmm... regardless, one of us found it and our names are in it Thanks for the cache Brother Colin.

Stopped of our way to Serenity On The Mountain, quickly had the cache in hand even though our indicated GZ was off by a good margin.
The cache had water inside which we dried out as best we could, but it probably needs a proper dry out to avoid a case of the moulds.
Thanks

Sadly Mr DisSister's anticipated 4wd adventure wasn't to be as the suggested track is closed to all vehicles. Out with the feet and along the track we traipsed. It was a little warm today so we were happy to have no major hill climbing to tackle. Found the cache and its guardian tucked safely away. Cache had a small amount of water inside but logbook was still dry. We dried out the container before returning it to its home. TFTC, cooroy scouts and Brother Colin.
Parked near the road and walked in to this cache.
After a small search, we found it.

Found on my walk to the other cache. I realised after my walk I probably should of parked on this track instead of back tracking. I love the concept of the zeros as I am a bit of a numbers nerd and like things like that...strange I know.
At GZ I searched all the usual hides and it didn't take very long to locate the cache. Typical cool guardian as you expect from the scouts caches too.

Found it after arguing with my GPS, had me all over the place, easy find once it settled down. Cache in good nick.
Found this after a nice walk through the forest with Hoblix - you don't really need a 4x4!
The Team Fang-Prime-Noski Sunny Coast Raid
It had been two decades since my school days in Pomona so I was keen to check out the area again and of course some of the caches.
I met up with Fangsoki and PPrime in Brisvegas. With backpacks packed, puzzles sorted and the trusty Fangsoki 4WD geomobile fuelled up we were ready to go.
Find number 6
Fangsoki told us about this one and how it was possible to take a 4WD right to it. We headed along the track from the Northern access only to find some pretty large part of the track eroded away. As Fangsoki was doing a 17 point turn I spotted something on the side of the track.
What one earth is that we thought and got out to investigate. It was a bovine (or maybe a horse) that was long dead but not fully intact. The smell was overwhelming and certain innards were not "in" anymore. It was all a bit odd and we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
We tried the Southern access to the track but a fallen tree blocked the track right near the entrance. It was going to be "two feet and a heart beat" to get to this one today.
It was a nice shaded walk in the Aussie bush. We noticed a few more large trees blocking the track further up as well so it would have been a lot of hard work to get a 4WD up this track.
Thanks for the cache cooroy scouts and Brother Collin. Love the camo.
Cheers!!

Well, what to do on a public holiday - well in Brisbane at least? Why not climb a mountain says Fangsoki. Hmmm, if I must says I, arm twisted behind my back and dragged along - NOT!! Mountain? where where where says I really. With Radnoski, and under the guidance of master Fangsoki and the Powerful Purple Paj we nipped up the road towards this little beauty. Oh, can't drive there, OK, have two feet and a heartbeat and in short order we were off down the track towards GZ. A little tired after having climbed that there mountain earlier, but in short order we were at GZ, and a little search later revealed said cache. Neato.
Thanks for placing this cache, cooroy scouts adopted by Brother Colin. Found in good condition.

Easter weekend 3rd-6th April 2015 in Stanthorpe, QLD.
Brother Colin, IolantheK, T-tech, I and Midnight the geohound set off this morning to find a few out of the way caches around Pomona, that have eluded me in past searches.
4 pairs of eyes are definately better than one, particular with this type of tree cover.
It has been a while since I've been able to do any caching, great to have a team with me.
This was the first for the day, pulled up at the entrence to the forest, a quick check of the track soon reveiled that we would have to hoof it , a tree across the track 100m in.
20 minutes later An easy find. Off to Serenity On The Mountain.
All well with the cache
Thanks Cooroy Scouts for the cache.

I have a milestone coming up and thought I would like to do it with Dad, (sweet - sour) and a couple of friends, (IolantheK & T-tech). But first we needed to find a couple.
This one was the first for the day. Get that long hike out of the way early.
We parked the cars at the Bitumen as there was a tree across the track a short way in.
Not long afterwards we arrived at GZ and spread out and it was not long before the cache was found in good condition.
I have adopted cooroy scouts caches in the past and if you would like me to adopt this one as well I would be honored.
Thanks for the cache.

Out and about on a geocaching adventure with T-Tech, Brother Colin and sweet - sour This was the first one for all of us today. We hoped to get the cars a fair bit closer to GZ, but a tree across the track about 100 metres in put an end to that The walk in wasn't too strenuous, just one uphill got the heart-rate up a little but we soon reached GZ and BC made the find. The cache guardian is a cute little fellow [^] TFTC, cooroy scouts.
Headed for the Pomona area with sweet - sour, Brother Colin and IolantheK to bag some "Evils"
This one and "Serenity On The Mountain" made worthwhile diversions on the way [^]

Yes, we were at large in the forest with some of our caching buddies enjoying a spot of off-road action. A fun drive to the top of a steep hill before heading down on foot to grab this cache. We were all a bit pussy as we could have made it down the hill no worries. Getting back up again might have been more of a challenge though. Nice hide with a great container. TFTC.
I was out and about with Team Herbz, Captain T, Gaz'n'Kab (no Kab though! ), Ruzzelz, Griffo, Tassiegirl13, Bedmaker, and Green Team 2.
We were on our way to do the nearby Serenity cache but we (I) had made a wrong turn - so we decided to grab this one. I was a bit of a blouse and didn't want to to the Paj down the foreboding hill - so we legged it down to GZ. After a small hunt, Captain T found the cache. It was in great condition.
A nice little trek to stretch the Paj's legs in a nice area. TFTC Cooroy Scouts

On our way into Serenity when we missed a turn and ended up close to this cache. A quick trip down the hill through the dust and cache was in hand. Cache was in good condition. TFTCSL
I love the east co-ord for this one! A group of crazy cachers aiming to get part way up Cooroora in search of some serenity were piled into 3 4WD's when we found we may have missed a turn and weren't far from this one. Myself, Fangsoki, Ruzzelz, Herbs, Griffo, Bedmaker, Tassiegirl, Gaz'n'Kab and GreenTeam2 was the crown that decided the hill was a tadly too steep, although freshly graded and instead tackled the last, steep 100m on foot.
The GPS counted down and the hunt was on. A few spots to check, but many eyes made light work and the cache was spotted. Another little extra touch of uniqueness here. The logbook was passed around and all good inside the container. A wonderful bonus for the day and a lovely area, TFTC cooroy scouts

The truth about what goes on in the bush stays in the bush. Well maybe, the truth was we overshot the mark on the way to the main game. Once we realised a cache was only 100 m further on we just had to make sure it was collectted
Found as part of the group heading to Serenity on the Mountain.
As said our fearless leader missed the turn but he got us to within distance of this one so we grabbed it as a bonus.

Found this one on the track back out from Serenity on the Mountain. GPSr was all over the place but eventually we located it. Nice little guardian on the cache there.
TNLNSL. Log was slightly damp bit still quite usable.
Thanks

All Ok here. Walked in from the nearby road - about 500m trip each way. All's well here. TNLN
I dunno what the Wonder Wits were up to, but there was not a trace of red and white tape to be seen anywhere along the trails a couple of days ago [:o]
Very ODD !!
Very ODD !!
Passed one track that was closed with red & white tape saying "Danger. Do Not Enter". Similar tape was on the ground at the entrance to this cache... and I wasn't inclined to find out whether I'd need Triple Zero by attempting the cache at this time ...
Triple Zero !!? A handy number to have if you attempt the nearby cache a bit further up the hill [:o)]
Having survived that cache I continued my stroll along the trail to find this cache
Cor, I'm glad I went clockwise on this loop and not the other way round (that would be anti-clockwise for those with digital watches)
The cache guardian was easily spotted and the prize grabbed

Found 4 June 2009. Area very wet and boggy with all the rain.
Container still in good shape inspite of the wet.

Our 2nd Cooroy Scouts cache for the day. We walked in after parking our car on the road, enjoyed the walk and loved the cameo.
