November is the month for off-road caches so Peppa and I have come to the northern Sunshine Coast area for some 4-wheel-driving fun. With the prediction of lots of rain in the lead up to today, Miranda was packed with all kinds of recovery gear, most of it still in its original packaging. The evil series has been on my to-do list for a few years so I was very happy to be finally here. We entered the forest in the north so this was where we started. After passing a runner with his dog we pulled off and wandered into the bush, encountering the spikes vines almost immediately. We spread out at GZ and began our search, I had in my head Wayn0s last log: where would you hide it and when I noticed the impressive natural feature I knew I was in the money.Awesome location and a great start to the series, may have done a little happy dance Thanks Scrub Bull and dahumbug for keeping this series alive. Find #4759

Davinells had a plan it involved a dirty weekend in and around Nambour, Eumundi, Cooroy, Pomona and Imbil Concentrating on the off-road vehicle attribute means were in Miranda going places only Miranda can We only had to refer to the owners manual once during a huge day of caching thats a success Im sure theres a carwash in NambourDavinells has been banging on about this series forever, so its good to be finally here we were joined for a moment by a jogger and his doggo, but he didnt stopDavinells soon called found it and we were on our wayThanks dahumbug my coffee from Pomona is still hot

I didn't have any issues with resolving this evil puzzle to get a sensible set of coordinates. This geocache had us searching for about five minutes before reading past logs, and then [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) spotted the cache from afar. Upon arriving at the geocache, I had a look down at my GPSr to see that my coordinates were out by 10-14 m, and for what it is worth, an offset of S 0.000 E +0.008' from the solved coordinates was what my GPSr was seeing. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and I left a TB for safekeeping / future travels. Thanks Scrub Bull for the cache placement, and [dahumbug](https://coord.info/PR8W6P9) for its ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 07/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches.----------During this trip, I travelled with [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) (who was visiting from Adelaide, SA) and we visited Maryborough for an extended weekend.Friday was the drive north, which involved the full day with stops in Nambour, Eumundi, Pomona, Gympie, Tiaro, and Maryborough, and highlights included the *Evil* series and the *Big Aussie Day Bash* series. The weekend's two days prioritised the *Jolly Brolly Folly* (JBF) series and *Geocaching 101* series, with a Sunday afternoon trip to Utopia Falls. Finally, Monday's itinerary included a few last geocaches that were in town, and we then returned home via Beaver Rock, Maaroom, and Tin Can Bay.A fun and rewarding trip with great company and friends, and we were rewarded with good weather throughout our trip.Today, [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) and I commenced the drive north with a few [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) targeted D-T geocaches in the Sunshine Hinterland, so we stopped in Woombye and Nambour, before continuing our trip north. I had a targeted Eumundi geocache to find (as it was a non-market day today), and we then spent a couple of hours visiting the *Evil* series nearby to Pomona. After having a bakery lunch in Gympie, we continued north, stopped in Tiaro, and then progressively stopped more as we neared Maryborough. We spent a few hours finding a few geocaches in the *Big Aussie Day Bash* series, and then took a loop around Police Paddock Conservation Park. As the light faded, we caught up with [Liz and Bruce](https://coord.info/PR68BB).

We recovered from the last bush bash and it was on to the next bush bash. Cache found eventually.Freddo traveled north from deep south to catch up with friendly Liz and Bruce and the RV Home base crew. David Wazza provided a sturdy vehicle and we traveled in style. We had good weather. Not to hot. Not to rainy. Lovely one day and perfect the next. The caches were found in a blur of Which Is Next and Where Are We Going Now. Some caches were harder to find than others. Some caches we could see from the car. Regardless all caches were found in the last place we looked.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Out on our bikes today. Hike into the bush. Lil hunt then looked back at some of the older pics to help then had hands on the cache.

Staying at Pomona for a few days, riding the Noosa Network Trail. Riding to Lake Mac today picking up a few caches along the way.
Had to bush bash about 140 metres in to this one and then needed to read previous logs and look at some posted photos to narrow down the search area.
Thoroughly enjoying this series of caches.

One of the many pit stops on my early morning adventure with dixie_gooner, on our final morning before making our way back to the big smoke.

The spot had piqued my interest almost immediately but as dixie_gooner read out a previous log, I knew I was on the money. A few seconds - and an inadvertent scattering of the contents - later and the cache was in hand.

In my defence he hadn’t yet read out the one detailing the state of the lid before I grabbed ahold!

I am on the final day of a 5 day roadtrip with Marcussjd9 and we stayed overnight in Noosa. We got up early so as that we could grab a handful of caches before we had to check out.

We arrived at GZ and I read out a few logs as we were looking around. I read out one particular log which caused MJD9 to go straight to the cache.

As others have said, the lid on the ammo can is broken, but everything is perfectly dry

Picked up two of the EVIL caches today.
Enjoyed the shady bush here.

Happy to add another older cache to my finds

Thank you for this hide

The coords seemed to be a little way off for this but there was one standout feature in this part of the world that needed attention. A few adjustments of our height on the planet meant that we had this evil hide well and truly signed off on.

Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that I can claim the finds.

6/1/22 Back for a 2nd attempt. Headed down coast again to attack this EVIL series. Rainy today and everything is slippery. Parked off road near cache. Packed bag for a decent journey into the bush. Geokid Caitlyn1105 came along again. Found no tracks in just approx 100m in. At GZ searched area. After about 15min searching found the ammo can in its hiding place. Found ammo can with lid partly opwn due to broken hindge. Logbook in plastic bsg a little damp but still good. Signed the log. TFTC Lots of grabby vines around but we survived the trek.

Puzzle solved well in advance of our trip north.
We have enjoyed solving all of these, and I suspect many are easier to solve these days than they were when first published. Google, I guess is largely to thank for this.
This one was a particular target location today, as I think it will be the one that turns over a new D/T loop for us.
Thanks Scrub Bull .

This was the first evil puzzle that teslavj and i hunted on an incredible day in the yurol forest.
It was also the closest to where we had set up base at the nearby showgrounds, and with a d/t combination i didn't have, i was all itching beans from the get go.
With an electric mountain bike, this forest became a fun playground for the day.
We dragged the bikes in a ways before hoofing the rest.
Somehow didn't even hesitate at gz and was soon holding the fragile rusting ammo tin.
The lids a seperate entity at this point, but the log was dry so all good.
An easy favourite for probably my favourite of the series, unless i can count 99
Thank you so much scrub bull for showing me somewhere i'll never forget.

Second last of the series for me, and what a perfect hiding spot! Nonetheless, we managed to overlook it for quite some time while we looked in other spots, and somehow finally decided to check the obvious and impressive thing, where Dragonsky found the old ammo tin. The lid was on but not attached, but the cache contents were fine.
TFTC, Scrub Bull. =^.^=

What a fabulous place to hide the cache. We wandered about in circles as our GPS couldn’t decide which way to send us then we spotted the wonderful GZ and decided there couldn’t be any other place to hide the cache. Unfortunately the lid has rusted off and it is just seated on the container now. TFTC Scrub Bull

Muggle65 and l drove to the designated parking area and took a small stroll through the bush to GZ. Of course the obvious eyecatcher was the target. Bloody marvellous spot for a cache. We loved it

2nd for the day up on the coast undertaking my week of strategic caching. Driving to the parking spot & strolling to the GZ. TGG saw the hiding spot & it was like the portal to Narnia ... and found the hide. GREAT SPOT!!!!!! that alone deserves a fav point

Tftc, last of the evil series for us and quite a trek from the 4X4 track.
Bush quite thick.
Cache is in good condition here.

Found at 3:11 PM GAFF2.
Another slash and bash through the bush - this time it was a bit longer than #3 and when I got to GZ there was nothing there! Was hoping for spot on co-ords as per #3, but it was not to be. So started to look around and after a while I spotted a possible location that matched the T rating and using the naturally supplied access, I looked in and what do you know - I was right - a cache Big Grin This was the end of our day's caching and the end of the EVIL series which gave us a lot of adventures - however most of the caches need some attention as they are in bad shape.
Thanks Scrub Bull

Day 3 of our weekend geocaching adventure with RoddyC, hatzofff and Snickersallan, we are continuing our adventure by 4WD today. Hubby came up for the day and is driving us around the caches in this area.

Unfortunately the hope for dry tracks were dashed by the storm that went through the area last night. Most tracks were still accessible but did make for an interesting drive. Our 4WD is quite capable and hubby a great driver so no problems.

This one took much longer than we had hoped to take but lucky to find it none the less. SL then returned as found. Interesting road travelling along the property line at the back of the houses.

This being our last day of our stay in the lovely Pomona area and hoping the heavens are not going to open as they had done so last night. Turned out to be a nice but cloudy day and our mission was to complete the EVIL series and a few other caches along the way.

It was a good thing that we read through previous logs as we spent too much time going around in circles here, could it be there, sure was but lid is broken so for the next finder - please take care when retrieving it.

Our final day on the Sunny Coast is around Pomona, looking mainly at the EVIL series of six caches and any others this inclement weather will permit.

Interesting drive here. We were thankful to be in Patrol14's super 4WD.

Searching everywhere until I read Dickbevs Log and changed my perspective. Great hide.

Log signed and cache replaced as found on January 17, 2021. TFTC, Scrub Bull

Just because an event was cancelled, doesn't mean we cancel our weekend. Now what can we do. Today is 4WD. Set off into the evil forest hoping that the heavy downpour last night won't make it too difficult.

Armed with cutters and spray for a short walk the cache was stamped and returned.

After the morning on the kayak, E-Smiley and I decided to continue on the Evil series. This was hard work as we had to walk to all of them due to not having no 4WD, at 35 degrees were on top of that. We pushed it to the limits but had plenty of fun with this series!

Interesting puzzle to solve. Almost as interesting as finding the cache.

I'm not sure whether I flicked my sunnies when an insect tried to attack me on the way to this cache from Evil Four or I left them at gz at Evil Four. But I realised it's gone in between taking a short cut.

Thanks for the cache and taking us here Scrub Bull. Container is a bit damaged, can't really close properly, the hinges were rusted.

04-Nov-20
I actually solved this one in 2016 and have been working through finding the evil series, so today we headed up the Bruce again and parked in Bellwood Place before walking onto Kidd Road. After finding Evil Four, I continued along the track before turning off towards GZ where a different type of placement was found for the cache. Had to use a piece of nature to help me reach the hide before signing the log and returning as found. This was my last find of the Evil caches so thanks for a fantastic series which deserves a favourite point. TFTC Scrub Bull Smile

Great hiding spot and first find of the day... Onto the next!!

15-Sep-20
I’ve had these solved and ready to find for a while now. Because of the logging taking place I’ve decided to do one or two on the weekends, and spread them out.

My first trip was a massive fail, I went in circles and tried looking in obvious locations with no luck. Seconds trip I had much more success locating ground zero, though once I got there I still ignored all my instincts on where the cache was and continued to look in the wrong location. Finally I followed my gut, and what do you know, I found the cache.

I contacted GeoNayfee and said I was looking at doing the evil series of caches at Pomona and a couple as we passed. It’s an early morning trip as I want to be home by mid-afternoon, not a big day, but we are going to have to leave early. Yeah sounds good and with a leave pass granted we were off. A 4 am start for me and a pickup along the way saw us arrive in Pomona by 6.30 am. To keep my cache a day and my trad a day challenges going we picked up a couple along the side of the road first. A short stop for some breakfast and then we were off caching the evils or so we thought.

A wrong turn into the wrong forest saw us doing some 4 wheel driving on some very turned up tracks and then, oh shoot, we were stuck. With all the rain and mud there was no way of getting up that hill in the clay…. 2 hours later with the ruts filled in and the centre mounds dug up, we finally got out, only to find the next issue ahead and then the next. 3 and a half hours later we were finally out and back on the right path. Hmm so much for the early caching day.

OK, then the day picked up and we were off collecting all 6 of the evil series and a few trads in the area as well. It was a fun filled day, I can see why the names of the caches came about, that landscape in certain parts was just pure evil. Plants that reached out and grabbed you, grass that was 6 foot tall, trees falling beside us, vines with 2 inch long thorns and then there was the walking in creek beds and water crossings; what an adventure.

All in all it was a good day, I think I made it home around 630 pm, hmm early day lol. Thank you for the puzzles and the caches, most are still in good condition with some needing a little attention of broken lids or damp log books. I have given 3 favourite points to certain caches, thank you.

Chamad got in contact with me yesterday to see if I had any plans for today, which I didn't, but I wasn't sure if my partner had anything planned so I had to double check with her since she likes to make plans at the last second, but luckily I got the all clear from her and was able to tag along with Chamad for an epic adventure up to Pomona. Huh, where the hell is that? I had to ask where that was because I've never heard of the place before, so I checked to see where we were going. "Wooow! That's a decent trek! But with most of the target caches being off road we decided to take Chamad's beast because my little Broom Broom wouldn't make it over a tiny pebble on a good day.

The day started extremely early and I'm NOT a morning person so it was rather difficult to get out of bed at that time (4:30am), but after some food and a decent sized coffee I felt more alive and ready for the day ahead. I meet Chamad at my local shopping centre, left my car and we made our way to Pomona.

Our target caches for the day were the Evil series and wow, they were evil, the whole area was evil. Getting bogged for several hours, walking through spider webs and getting whipped in the face by strange plants that cut up my face. Yeah.. It's an evil place that's for sure, we also picked up several trads along the way as we made our way around the area.

All in all, despite the blooded face and getting bogged it was a great day out today. At times it looked like it was going to rain, but thankfully it didn't, the tracks were already soaked with water, so we didn't really need anymore.

Thank you for placing these caches for us to enjoy. Some were more evil then others, but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience here today.

Another cache in the series found on my exercise regime. Parked opposite the walking track on YFD and joined the power line track for a few kilometres to join a road. Walked down the road and found an appropriate entry into the bush following my arrow to GZ. Did what was required and found the ammo tin in its hidey hole just within my reach. Fav from me!

Today I conquered the Evil series. I was chatting to another geocacher last weekend. Was told they weren’t to hard to solve. To back that up, I started solving one of them when we were talking. A few minutes later had it solve. Then I just started laughing. She look at me to see what was funny. I told her I just finished solving it.

4 days later had finished all 6. But that’s just me, 3 of them were just causing me problems. I was using the wrong solver program. Now that was the easy part.

I check will Grannysmith1947 if she would like to come along us usually she said yes. We bought along Miss Millie. Maybe we shouldn’t it turn out to be a National Park whoops .

So the day was planned to pickup 5 traditional and 6 mystery, found fist traditional at 8.40am and the last mystery was found at 1.40pm. One we had to MAF because that one was causing us problems.

Oh, that wait awhile caused us a lot of pain. I am glad that I read some of the logs. I went up with long pants on. But should had wore long sleeve to. And maybe a helmet as well. I came away with scratches behind my ear. Ouch.

I will not be going back. Lucky I have a 4wd because I needed it with all the wet tracks.

After them we grab two letterbox so that now 50 I have collected. Now only have one letterbox left on the Northside of Brisbane a few Southside and all clear up to north of Gympie. . And I cleanup two DNF I had. So 15 caches for the day.

Sorry for a generic post.

Cache a day to keep the doctor away, or is it to keep me sane. No it’s to keep my streak alive. Scrub Bull TFTC *444* streak. *2711* Finds

Enjoyed our drive through the forest here today. Parked the car safely off the track and made our way through the bush to GZ.
What a beaut hide this is.
All is well with this cache.

Had no trouble solving this puzzle. Thanks.

And thanks heaps for the fun we had finding your caches today.

Super hot day collecting these but totes worth it TFTC

30-Nov-19
These were planned for a much nicer time of year, however lives made those plan void. So a chance free day for the three of us at the same time and it was collection time. Of course it was hot as ! We did the long walk down and around, cache discovered quickly and it was time to make our way back.

30-Nov-19
These caches have been on my todo list for too long now. After a couple of aborted attempts (due to bad scheduling and weather), we finally made it here. Was not too sure about taking those roads in a 2WD, but may have been OK... That did result in a bit of walking, which in this heat was not great. Bush bash was easier than I expected, but I did get to test out my new machete! TFTC.

This was my muggle friend lei and my last cache in this series for today and another favorite for me as I loved the way to access the cache. Lei was waiting near Jimjimny while I looked for the cache and it took awhile before I spotted the likely hide. I dropped the lid twice which made it a little harder but i loved it. Thankyou for all the great puzzles and great hides and for spurring me on to buy my jimny. A fantastic day. Will be back to get evil 5 soon. Fp for the fun

Making a roundtrip through Australia, we stay in Nosa Heads for 1 night. We noticed this series due to its nice D/T ratings. In our hotel, we could solve the puzzles and after our attempt on #1 yesterday, we knew we could drive on some roads with our 2WD cars. We could drive within 500m of all caches and continued by foot on the tracks as close as possible. So that we had to bushwack only a few tens of meters (except for #3 where the approach was longer) For #5, we found no track on our off-line map and we skipped this one.
Thanks Scrub Bull for this nice series in a wonderful environment.

Heading north today to clean up the Evil series in Yurol State Forest, knock over a milestone in the process and then clean up at a local CITO. I got a nice early start - a few caches around Cooroy , some great coffee then I hit Yurol State Forest.

The Evil series has been on my to do list for a very long time. However, all my caching buddies have already completed it - so solo it was today. No trouble with the puzzle many moons ago. A short bush bash through the forest today had me at GZ. This forets has certainly regenerated since it was harvested. One potential hide really stood out and that was where I found the lovely ammo tin. My favourite container

With this particular DT rating on the hit list the rain was ignored at our peril. Evil indeed with a bush bash after spending too much time driving around trying to ascertain the best spot to park. long track in that way more slippy on the way out. Once at GZ we were mesmerised by the large amount of likely hides. A spot of logging detective work resulted in a "what about there?" moment that paid off! Pushed mu unhappy knee to the brink! The things we will do for our caching buddies! TFTC

Have always liked anything to do with evil. My evil thoughts have to be tempered when sitting on a beach or traveling in the bus to work. End up having a snooze while lost in my little world and the evil dissipates.

Evil intentions are always welcomed. What I'd like to do with some obnoxious drivers that are encountered on the road or idiotic work colleagues that need a little shove over the cliff. But this cache isn't about my evil intents or thoughts, they are all about a scrub bull.

This particular evil puzzle was solved a while ago and saved for when I'd be finishing my D/T grid. A plan was hatched with Gcoven to collect this puzzle to finish my D/T, today. Shame it was an evil day. It didn't stop raining all the way up the coast and I recon the rain intensity increased the closest we got to GZ. Then came how to get to this cache? Tried to find a few nonexistent roads to the north. That fruitless search wasted an hour, pure evil!

Found a spot to the west and took shanks jet ski through the water toward evil hashtag #03. All pretext to keep dry went out the car door within 10m of the car. What a good way to lose weight when carrying an extra 10kg of water soaking the supposedly waterproof clothes.

Came equipped to hurry up the wait-a-whiles and managed to get caught up on route to GZ when still on the 4wd track. Entered the bush and sloshed our way to GZ. This wasn't a quick find as we were looking too low. Gcoven reverted to a photo and our evil ways were redeemed with a cache.

Thanks for an interesting and memorable puzzle Scrub Bull, a definite Fav for me.

After picking up the rest of the series the other day I wouldn't have been able to sleep if I'd not come back for this one before heading back to Townsville, so today I made the hour long drive with the wife who high stepped through the bush to make the find.
Thanks for another good cache Scrub Bull.

Mr 4ando had solved these puzzles quite some time ago and we had previously been up here making the finds, however we ran out of time, daylight and battery on our first attempt so only four were found. Today we find ourselves back up here to put these bad boys to rest.

We started to 4wd in and then saw the crossing where we would only be able to get half of the geo-beast over, best we park and make the walk in. We walked as far as possible on the track before heading into the jungle of destruction.

Arriving near GZ we start searching at the many places a cache could be hidden out here but it wasn’t long until Mr 4ando found a suspicious but delicious area and stuck his hand into the hole of darkness and pulled out something magically.

What a great forest this is, and what fun it is being passenger with dahumbug driving for this adventure. He even acts like he knows where he's going! hehe. Oh... was I supposed to be navigating? Oops!

Making our way towards GZ here, another few close calls with that other evil, Wait a While weed... meh, that's all part of the adventure. Hmmm so there are a lot of places one could hide a cache in here, but I spotted a good looking thing pretty soon and soon had the cache in hand. Nice hide! I'm grateful to Scrub Bull for first placing these and to all who maintain them.

A big thanks to dahumbug for bringing me up this way to find these. On finding this cache I now qualify as a double looper - woohoo! Smile

We had solved all these evil puzzles over a year ago. This afternoon we decided to drive to Cooroy and see if we could find just one of the solved puzzles. So this is now the fifth one of the series we are attempting to find. It was such a challenge finding the right track in here. One that wasn’t blocked or too much of a bog hole to attempt. With perseverance we managed to get on a track within 120 m of the cache. It was a beautiful part of the forest to walk in and we were rewarded with some stunning trees. It was really peaceful out here. When we got back to the car it had started to rain slightly. We didn’t want to be caught out here in the rain. Luckily it was only a light shower and didn’t last

Arriving at the next cache for the day, there was initially some discrepancy as to where was the best spot to park. I thought one spot, dahumbug however said we should park in a different spot. So, as he has been here before a few times, I accepted he knew what he was talking about Razz, and we parked where he suggested. Some tangling in wait a while ensued, before we found ourselves in clearer area, and I saw some mischievous willy wagtails flit away from a large log. Soon we arrived at GZ and the search began, again with the watchful eye of dahumbug over us. I headed here, I headed there, I went around that and then went over there when all of a sudden 1GiantPanda says he found it. What? Where? I went around that.... ohhhhhhhhhh doh! Red Face. And another D/T completed too! Yayyyy! Big Grin
Cache replaced we headed back to the car.... and came out further up the track where I said we should park!!! "Trust me".... dahumbug! Razz
Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull.

Out for a day of 4WDing and caching with vennfamily and VCs.
This was originally going to be our first cache for the day but the assess point we tried had been washed away, so it became our third.
The puzzle was quickly solved a week or so ago when vf mentioned that he was interested in visiting this series, and with him able to supply the vehicle I was keen to come along.
At GZ my phone had me all over the place, which turned out not to be really close to the cache. Vennfamily spotted a glimpse of the cache and soon had it in hand. A celebratory photo for his completion of their second DT grid loop, then back to the car to find the next one.

Find #2288

I have had the Evil series solved for some time and needed two of them to complete the second loop of my D/T grid. Today was the day that I decided to head up and find them. Vegan Cachers, although having done the series previously, offered to join me and, at the last minute, nikid1 announced her availability to join us as well. We got through the target caches in quick time while having a lot of fun and even managed to grab a few bonus caches on the way home.

We actually enjoyed a pleasant walk into this one with very little waitawhile. I spotted the hide and thought that would be an awesome hide but I was still fiddling with the GPS which said over there and nikid1 was looking 30m away. So I checked a few other possible hides before I came back to my first choice and spotted a regular looking surface which turned out to be the cache.

This find marked the completion of the second loop of our D/T grid after completing the first loop in August last year.

Although we did the Evil series a couple of year's ago I couldn't knock back the opportunity to tag along & revisit these great caches.
Teamed up with **nikid1 & vennfamily** (designated driver & instigator of this adventure) & headed north.
There is always the chance of picking up a few extras along the way! LOL ... Caches that is!

A quick find as I watched from the shadows! LOL ...
Marked the log to record my visit.

Top 10 things I am grateful for today:
#1 - My awesome geopartner WallabyTim and his geosenses. I was way off the mark searching for this one when I heard the familiar cry beckoning me to the hide. Yep he found something that looked good and soon had the cache in hand. Now for the white knuckle drive to the next EVIL cache. I'm must more used to city life!!!

I solved most of this series a few months back and added them to my book of coordinates.
Today Nyssaflutterby and I decided to come up this way and do some of them. Nyssa had done them before but she likes a nice walk and she's happy to help me fill some d/t squares.
We drove until the puddles and holes became too much for the 2wd and then walked the rest.
When we got to Gz I spotted the cache container, my legs are short so Nyssa helped retrieve it.
Yay, another d/t square filled and a nice walk in the national park. We saw a couple of goannas today but no other crawly things thankfully.

Out for a day of caching with storigirls. I am not far off completing my D/T grid and two of this series will fill half the remaining spots. I set about solving those and discovered that I was able to solve the entire series. Very Happy How happy was I??? Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy This was the second of the ones that I needed. After finding a previous one, stortigirls and I headed to this one. We followed the tracks until the map said the road ran out. The map lied. I made the call to continue along the road. Good call. We pulled up about 100m from the cache. Not too far to walk. We bushbashed our way towards GZ. As we approached, we spotted something. That has to be it. Stortigirls did the honours and retrieved the cache. We added our names to the log, returned the cache to its hiding spot then headed back to the car and home. I am really enjoying this series and cant wait to find the rest of them TFTC

After visiting Evil One, we had enough time to continue on and try for this 3rd Evil cache, which also filled a D/T square for us. With Selva Girls once again using her rally driving skills we were able to get about 100m from the cache before we had to walk. A short bush bash later we could see GZ as we approached. That has to be it. I did what was required to retrieve the container and we added our ames to the log. Two Evils down today, and another nearby part of a series as well. Just in time to get back to School and pick up the geoteens Cool Tftc Scrub Bull, looking forward to returning soon to pick up the rest of the series.

Left the car back at the main road and walked in, once off the track the signal was poor and with plenty of hiding spots we took a while before finding the cache. This series of puzzles is getting more difficult to decode, looking forward to the others. Thanks for another fine day Scrub Bull.

It had rained all night and with the morning it showed no sign of easing. We had solved these caches early in our caching life but had always assumed that we would have to climb hills and walk Kms so had avoided them on every occasion. Today we were all geared up for a fantastic and Evil adventure with dahumbug who had so generously offered to ferry us around the area. When we met up we queried the state of the roads but dahumbug assured us that his 4WD (and his driving!) could cope. So off we went for one half of one our best day's caching. A few wrong turns and a little bit of slipping and sliding to make it to this one. Stood near GZ and wondered where an evil mind may place the cache. Then it jumped out at us. What a great hiding place. Male membsec came a little unstuck so Lady membsec took over and grabbed the cache for signing. Another good location.

We thought that it would be a nice day today to grab the two northern caches in the Evil Series.
We found a place that we could pull off the track to park safely. It turned out that this spot was not too far away from the published co-ordinates.
After solving the puzzle some time ago and having the final co-ordinates in hand, we made our way to GZ. The Wait-a-Whiles sometimes tried to halt progress.
The GPS would not settle down however we where in the general area when, we said look at that. That would be a good place to hide a cache. After searching the area a little while we went back to the place that we thought would be a good hiding spot and Bingo, the cache was revealed.
The log was signed and the cache replace as found.
Thanks for another of your challenging caches Scrub Bull.

Saturday. Slow Puncture was on the road again with Linden/6 to get some more needed caches in the Sunshine Coast hinterland area. We had pondered over the Evil puzzles so some time ago we had set out to have them all solved, in readiness for one assault on the lot. Today was the day! Wink

This one was in a great hiding spot and this one was needed for Dennis’ D/T grid. Both our needles were pointing in a spot away from the cache but a previously well worded cache note helped immensely.

This was the 10th out of 11 caches we found on this trip.

Thanks [Blue]Scrub Bull[/Blue], for bringing us here.

Smilie #2678

Another day of crazy caching planned with KC of Slow Puncture.
Having solved all the necessary puzzles we were ready to hit the trail.
The Evil series was our target list with, hopefully a few extras along the way.

This was the cache I was determined to find today as it was the only one which was going to fill a box on my D/T grid.
We searched for a little while with no result & I decided to take a short break & read through the available material. Recent logs can sometimes be a real bonus! Smile
Break over, walked straight to the cache & claimed my smilie!
Some days are diamonds!!!

Now to fight our way back out of here!

After finding EVIL FOUR, this was to be the next find for us today.

We parked in the suggested parking spot and made our way through the forest, trying to avoid the wait-a-while along the way. We dodged from here to there and wasn't long and we were at GZ.

While Mrs Parko was searching in the wrong spot, Mr Parko spotted something interesting and his intuition was spot on. He had the cache in hand in no time Smile

Out with 5Meerkats bashing around the back blocks hunting the Evil series before heading up a mountain the locals would be very familiar with; you can see it from just about everywhere around here! We had an early start with a decent coffee before dawn, then made our way to Pomona, Cooroy and surrounds.

We broke numerical order and tackled this one second. After selecting the wrong set of coords , we soon made our way to GZ and accurate coords helped shorten the search. We soon had the container in hand and signed the log. Lots of fallen timber here, nice spot

I solved this so long ago that it is now a faint and distant memory but I know it was a nice tricky little puzzle, but I knew the subject matter fairly well. This was the fourth EVIL that I have attempted to find and was determined to find at least the northern two today.
So I found a good parking spot and headed off on a beautiful day into the amazing Yurol forest. Then I got the phone call "You know that meeting we have tomorrow afternoon? Well actually it's today!" Okay, now I've got 45 minutes to walk (run!) 4.5km not counting time to find two EVIL Scrub Bull caches! "No worries" I thought!
I picked up the pace a little and soon had to make a decision on where to leave the beaten track and head straight for GZ. I just took the shortest option anyway because I knew that it wouldn't matter which way I went it would be thick with wait-a-while and other prickly stuff being a Scrub Bull after all! Without losing too much blood I was at GZ having a brief pause before looking for the most unlikely hiding place. (You can tell I've done a few of these before!)
Actually, it wasn't as evil as it could have been and after signing in I was still an outside chance of making the meeting! Thanks Scrub Bull for an excellent series and a beautiful location for a cache.

Reperio at 0930.

Day 13 of the mega caching tour of Queensland, and the two week trip was predominantly spent finding some of the states' older placed caches, as well as some of the more difficult terrain caches. After stopping by Evil One, I drove on down the trail to come to where the track was pretty sloshy. Not wanting to risk getting stuck out here, I parked and walked in to GZ. Once there, one particular spot interested me the most, and fortunately that's where the cache was hiding.

I woke up early this morning and heard the kids scampering out of their beds seeking breakfast. Hang on, Grandad and Grandma had a late night so let's head out for breakfast and let them sleep in, I thought. So I prodded Mrs Meerkat awake and we drove down to Noosaville for some bagels and beans. Yum. And great coffee too.

Back at the ranch, we were looking for options on what to do today. I surreptitiously let slip that there was 5 more caches for me to get not far away and they would allow the family to sit in the car's air conditioning whilst I sweated it out making the finds. Little did I know the drama that would bring our way. See our DNF log for Evil 4 for more.

Anyhow, this was the first of the grabs for the day. I decided to head here along "Kidd Rd" and start from the North. Evil One was a great grab yesterday, so I was expecting similar sweet victory today.

We got within 100m of GZ, but it was clear that I needed to walk the rest of the way. So I pulled up and strolled in. No long pants, no gaiters, no first aid kit, no nothing. That was most unlike me. But I figured that I had the family back in the car and could stagger/crawl my way back if things went South. I also planned to use the purring car engine to lead me back to the vehicle.

I got to within 5m of the cache fairly quickly, but no hide presented itself. So I resorted to the logs. It was Gaz'n'Kabs that prompted me to the hide. Yesssss. There it is. I extracted the cache and signed the log. Great to see that the series continues to meet its expectations. Not easy hides, at all.

Then it was back to the road. I used the listed coordinates to navigate me back to the road. But when I punched out of the tundra, no car could be seen. In fact, I could not hear the purring engine either. Either I missed the exit point by a country mile or Mrs Meerkat had absconded with the kids.

Neither was true, it turned out. I was only 30odd metres uphill from the car and just out of sight. Also, opposed to my previous assumption, sound does not carry well at all in this bush. I got back to the car and no one missed me at all. They were all happily on their mobile devices and my presence was strictly optional.

Just because I am terrible at doing things in order Team DNA and myself decided to hit number three next instead of two Razz This is where things got interesting with the travel arrangements, it seemed that Spangle was just not going to cut it. Good thing we thought ahead and brought our deadly treadlies. So after parking Spangle as close as we could, we grabbed our bikes and head off.

The pedaling was easy, seeing as it was all down hill. I wasn't looking forward to the backwards ride. We made our way until very close to GZ and then hid our bikes. Right, two feet it is. We weaved and wove our way closer and closer and then finally I spotted something that just looked not right. A grabbed the cache, we signed our names in the log and then replaced as we had found it.

Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull Big Grin

Off on a caching adventure with Nyssaflutterby.

It was shaping up to be quite a hot day today and I was glad that trusty Spangle helped us get closer than we thought we could go, on most of the Scrub Bull caches. We biked or walked the rest of the distance to the caches!

We got as close as possible on this one, then we decided that the bikes were going to get a work out!

Most of the path was accessible, but we did have the occasion where the path was covered in rocks or sand. That became an interesting challenge!!!

When the path could take us no closer, we abandoned the bikes in the bushes and went on, on foot.

Only a short time later, Nyssa spots something that looks a little out of the ordinary and off I went to retrieve it!!

After making a mess of Evil Two we thought we would try our luck with Evil 3 and 4. We found the access road a lot easier and parked close for Evil 3. We picked the wrong side of the creek and had a make a crossing with a large leap over the water. We soon homed in on GZ and saw some thing of interest and soon made a quick find. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

Back to the car and a short stint to near Evil 4 saw us going for another bush bash. We arrived at an evil spot with plenty of hiding spot potentials. The GPSr took a while to settle but once it did we concentrated on an area and after working our way around made the find of the ammo can. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

When I saw this puzzle I new what was required and was surprised this puzzle was a lot easier than I found doing TWO.... I guess this one is more familiar to me.

Arriving at GZ I noticed Mr P' simply stop and started grinning (he had found it before) so I looked around to see if I could see what he was grinning at..... OH!! REALLY???

Yup! Really! and with a bit of help Net88 did the honours to complete her D/T grid.

A short drive from our last find, and we are glad the road/creek crossing has been repaired. No troubles getting into the parking coords today. The crew all bundled out of the car after parking as far to the side as we could, and trudged over to an entry point into the scrub. Before too long a reasonably easy route became apparent, and we made our way in. The cache was found with a few 'oooohs' and 'ahhhhs' and signed by all.

Thanks again Scrub Bull.

This was the cache I was waiting for. The last cache I needed to finish my DT Grid. I have been caching for 4 years and 2 weeks and finally today, I had finished my DT Grid Big Grin

This was the seventh cache for our motley crew today. I was spending the day caching and four wheel driving with Captain Terror, Fangsoki, Agap2, P`Prime, Crew 153, Herbz, Swellerfungus, Jeff from SeffnJarah and KJTJMJ.

We parked the cars in a safe spot and started back up the hill towards this cache. Captain Terror, Swellerfungus and I lead the way but when we got to GZ everyone graciously stood back and allowed me to search for and grab this cache. I only have little short legs so Crew 153 knelt down so I could stand on his leg and the Captain took the opportunity to give me a boost from behind.

I had found it! I passed the camo down and then the cache.. then I came down myself. I opened the container and signed my name! YAY! Finally done! What a great group of people to finish it with. Most of the group have been close friends of mine for quite some time now and I always enjoy caching with them. Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull, I won't be forgetting it in a hurry.

I had been invited to join Net88 and a group of other cachers on a run on the Evil caches to complete her D/T chart.

This was the final one for Net88 and so we all stood back to allow her to retrieve the cache. The hiding spot was easy to spot although the cache took a bit to extract.

A cheer went up for Nett as the cache hit the ground

Thanks Scrub Bull I love this type of hide.

Parked at the Pomona showgrounds, to cache in the area.

With a little help in the right direction, we managed to solve these evil puzzles.
Headed off in the direction of GZ, and parked as close as possible.
Enjoyed the short bush walk, and soon located the cache.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Scrub Bull, another favourite point from us.

The walk in to this cache is absolutely beautiful. It is a shame that these giant trees got chopped down. It would have been magnificent to see them standing today. It was a pleasure to hunt without getting caught up in wait a while. It didn't take too long to spot cache but I just went OMG. I was on my own as Mr EMC was in the car with the kids. I almost walked out and got them but decided to give it a go and managed to extract without too much damage to myself. I am having physio currently on a part of my body that was critical in retrieving this cache. I think signing a log was more important! A fav point from me for an awesome cache hide. Thanks Scrub Bull; for some weird reason I love your cache Smile

We've been dying to do the EVIL series for over a year and as we were leaving Australia at the end of June time was getting short. Puzzles were solved with WTF21 over lunch work over 18 months ago and WTF21 had a brand new 4x4 he was itching to take off road for the first time. Plans were made and off we went. We had no idea what to expect other than these were all ammo cans and difficult hides. How hard can it be to hide an ammo can in the bush?

The road into this one was blocked off due to construction. We tried to find another road in with no avail so parked at the junction next to the road closed sign and walked in. The walk wasn't bad as it was fairly flat and the bush wasn't think. Just like at Evil One we had a short search of GZ when Mrs THR wandered off, look up and said "Found It". WTF21 made the climb and we soon had the cache in hand. Interesting hide. TFTC Scrub Bull

Ok we had gone ahead and bought the 4WD – no, not a Jeep Smile and I was itching to try it out on some suitable terrain. With a couple of 5/5 D/T rated caches on offer, the EVIL series in the Yurol forest seemed the perfect choice. No convincing was needed to get ‘The Hunting Rabbit’ interested in coming along as this was a puzzle series we had solved over 18 months ago.

We worked our way down from the Northern end with Mrs THR showing her uncanny knack of making quick work of difficult finds picking up Evil numbers 1 to 4. Great hide at Evil 1 and a favourite point there Smile

We made a quick side trip out to collect Woodland Wonder while Mrs THR had a rest in the 4WD and this time THR made the find of a very well camouflaged ammo box.

No luck at Bryophyta – all we got was wet thanks to the rain that had now settled in Sad we both agreed though that the D/T on this cache is a bit underrated!

Next it was time for a Cooroy Coffee. Finally I made a find! Loved the cache container here, didn’t expect that at all – another favourite point.

Live Wire was nice and easy in the middle section before tackling the 5/5’s. This time I was the lucky one to make a lucky very quick find of our first 5/5 cache at Evil 6 Big Grin gotta make that a favourite!

Heading on along the now slippery and muddy track to Evil 5 we met up with ‘dahumbug’ who had come out to see how we were progressing. I’m happy to admit that without his help I doubt we would have ever found the cache – terrible reception in the scrub made GZ very difficult to pin down and the cache location.... lets just say that was darn EVIL!!

All up, a great day out 4WD’ing and caching with The Hunting Rabbits.
