Logs
November is the month for off-road caches so Peppa and I have come to the northern Sunshine Coast area for some 4-wheel-driving fun. With the prediction of lots of rain in the lead up to today, Miranda was packed with all kinds of recovery gear, most of it still in its original packaging. The evil series has been on my to-do list for a few years so I was very happy to be finally here. Our last one in the series and we decided to take the advice of previous logs and park near Roman Bones and walk in. Our longest walk in the bush today of about 500m but lead navigator Peppa found the disused track and we avoided most of the spiky vines. Ive heard how evil this cache has been, but when the arrow pointed to a giant patch of wait-a-whilesurely not?!? Thankfully not..we expanded our search and Peppa yelled found it further down. Thanks for a great series Scrub Bull and for keeping it going dahumbug Find #4769
Davinells had a plan it involved a dirty weekend in and around Nambour, Eumundi, Cooroy, Pomona and Imbil Concentrating on the off-road vehicle attribute means were in Miranda going places only Miranda can We only had to refer to the owners manual once during a huge day of caching thats a success Im sure theres a carwash in NambourOur final EVIL and we took the hard way in only finding the old trail much closer to GZ Once at GZ Geepers really wanted us to dig through the grabby-grabby-scratchy-scratchy vines reading some logs we spread out and found the cache a little bit further along the gully from our approachOf course we took advantage of the superhighway of a track all the way back to Miranda Thanks dahumbug Find #10464
Regarding this puzzle, this wasn't too difficult with a somewhat common technique for encrypting the coordinates. It was late November 2021 when the puzzle was examined and coordinates obtained.[Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) and I did a full loop of this bushland area trying to find an access point given previous logs of an unused logging track that they were able to follow. Ultimately, we left our car not too far from [ROMAN BONES](https://coord.info/GC12GQK), and we found a track, but then promptly lost it (cue [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) revealing it was this way, when it wasn't). Thanks to [Muggle65](https://coord.info/PR10G2R0) for his helpful attempt to provide the coordinates to the old logging track: S 26 23.317' E 152 53.227'.For future help, I noted waypoints of the logging track should it help find a way towards GZ: Intermediate: S 26 23.347' E 152 53.429' Logging track end: S 26 23.360' E 152 53.429'With 100 m to walk, we left the logging track and proceeded to take a direct approach.Upon arriving at GZ, we began to search around, and it wasn't long before I spotted the cache about 15 m away from GZ. It was found using an offset of S +0.002' E +0.009' from the solved coordinates. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. I found the toughest part trying to pass the logbook back to [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14), where I was promptly tangled in wait-a-while, and blood was shed. I think I spent more time untangling myself than I did searching for the cache. Thanks Scrub Bull for the cache placement, and [dahumbug](https://coord.info/PR8W6P9) for its ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 07/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches.----------During this trip, I travelled with [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) (who was visiting from Adelaide, SA) and we visited Maryborough for an extended weekend.Friday was the drive north, which involved the full day with stops in Nambour, Eumundi, Pomona, Gympie, Tiaro, and Maryborough, and highlights included the *Evil* series and the *Big Aussie Day Bash* series. The weekend's two days prioritised the *Jolly Brolly Folly* (JBF) series and *Geocaching 101* series, with a Sunday afternoon trip to Utopia Falls. Finally, Monday's itinerary included a few last geocaches that were in town, and we then returned home via Beaver Rock, Maaroom, and Tin Can Bay.A fun and rewarding trip with great company and friends, and we were rewarded with good weather throughout our trip.Today, [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) and I commenced the drive north with a few [Freddo](https://coord.info/PR8C14) targeted D-T geocaches in the Sunshine Hinterland, so we stopped in Woombye and Nambour, before continuing our trip north. I had a targeted Eumundi geocache to find (as it was a non-market day today), and we then spent a couple of hours visiting the *Evil* series nearby to Pomona. After having a bakery lunch in Gympie, we continued north, stopped in Tiaro, and then progressively stopped more as we neared Maryborough. We spent a few hours finding a few geocaches in the *Big Aussie Day Bash* series, and then took a loop around Police Paddock Conservation Park. As the light faded, we caught up with [Liz and Bruce](https://coord.info/PR68BB).
We drove around the block looking for an easy way in. there is not one. there is an old loging track only suitable for walking that we found on the way out. there is special thorny bush that envelopes you in it tendrils offering a short or long wait.Freddo traveled north from deep south to catch up with friendly Liz and Bruce and the RV Home base crew. David Wazza provided a sturdy vehicle and we traveled in style. We had good weather. Not to hot. Not to rainy. Lovely one day and perfect the next. The caches were found in a blur of Which Is Next and Where Are We Going Now. Some caches were harder to find than others. Some caches we could see from the car. Regardless all caches were found in the last place we looked.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. Has been on the solve list for some time, and managed an escape for a log too.
Some of the Evil series has helped med loop, this one will just be support for a loop sometime in the distant future.
With #5 and #6 I had an opportuning to increase my 5/5 finds, always good and appreciated for whatever future challenges might appear on the geocaching map.
As mentioned, lower your elevation a bit and you will be rewarded
Thank you Bug, for everything

Well that was an adventure. After reading logs and deciding hiking in was the best bet we set off. Parked near Roman Bones cache we soon came across the track. Followed it in then the huge effort of hunting. Thick terrain and foliage. So many places to hide. GZ out by 17m (go down further than you think) Eager Eyes of Treasuretrakas we had hands on….. now to get back to the car. Lol.
Spending a few nights at Pomona, riding the Noosa Network Trail. Woke up too early this morning so filled in some time solving a few puzzle caches.
Struggled to find the track in to this one but after reading a few logs we parked at the Roman Bones cache, crossed the road, headed up the embankment and bush bashed in the general direction of GZ. Before too long we found an old vehicular track that took us to about 130m from GZ. Bush bashing again and doing our best to avoid the wait-a-while we reached GZ and the search began. We weren’t having any luck so I messaged a previous finder who gave us some useful hints. The cache was finally found about 17m from where our GPS wanted us to look.
Thanks for the cache and the adventure. Hopefully we will find a few more before we head home.

Gotcha !!! Good to clear a 2009 DNF. Last visit we drove in to about 100m from GZ but the track is now overgrown and has a few fallen logs blocking access. Widened the search to make the find. A Fav Pt for this one. Visited TBs and GCs.

I'd solved this quite a while ago since the D/T rating is definitely special but that dreaded thing work, interrupted our attempts to collect the full Evil Series back then. Today I took advantage of local knowledge by convincing AtTheLakeHouse to guide me to GZ. What an astounding memory for landmarks!
The cache is in reasonable condition considering it's age and environment.
Thanks for find #4017

Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that I can claim the finds.
6/1/22 Headed down coast again to attack this EVIL series. Rainy today and everything is slippery. Arrived near at a parking spot near Roman Bones. Packed bag for a decent journey into the bush. Geokid Caitlyn1105 came along again. Found the track mentioned in previous logs about half way in. Followed for a bit and then back off into the bush. At GZ searched area. Reviewed some previous logs and widened search. After about 1/2 searching found the rusted ammo can in its hidung place. Considering environment ammo can in ok condition. Signed the log. TFTC
Jacs helped with this one pointed me in the right direction to solve it which I did yay. Puzzles and I are not friends but I needed a 5/5 to complete a grid first grid. Then Jacs came with me bush bashing thank goodness although it wasn't as bad as I expected. Tftc
This puzzle was solved many months ago, and I suspect it took much less time to solve than it did to find the hide today.
We wandered around for awhile, in a widening circle, up and down until eventually Mr Domsky made the find.
Log signed on this lovely old geocache.

This was the only one of the evil series left after yesterdays assault of the yurol.
I saw it was a decent bush bash, so decided to start fresh with this one.
It turned out to be the third hunt for the day after finding the swamp and another earlier.
I wasn't really sure on where to start the trek as it cunningly appeared equidistant to all the paths.
Ended up dragging the bikes in a ways and locking them to trees.
Before slogging it the five hundred odd metres into the scrub.
I probably should mention at this point the puzzle was also solved quickly thanks to the slew of online decoders making short work of many conundrums these days.
Teslavj and i may well have plotted some useful coords to an old long disused firetrail that led us to an old camp clearing where the 'road' became a single walking path until even it finally petered out.
Even further.
At gz it took quite some time in an ever widening circle and a lot of log reads before i spied something higher than where i was, down in the riverbed, chanelling my gold panning past. Managed to avoid most of the wait-a-while's, friendly vine they are.
This is the fourth of these combinations i've ever found. The pinnacle, so to speak, of them all.
Thank you scrub bull for a thoroughly entertaining series of evil caches.
May they live forever.

The original cache (although the lid is a seperate thing) and logbook were there, so here's a bunch of pages.
After quite a nice hike in from the main road, down the old disused track, we came to GZ. Having read previous logs, we knew to look about 11 m further out but we didn’t know in which direction so that left us with quite a big area to search. We checked in all the places that matched some of the logs to no avail before we read a little bit further down to one that suggested we look 20m East. I was headed in that direction trying to find a way down into the creek when there in front of me was the cache! The wait-a-while grabbed my hat as I stood up from retrieving the cache so I paid the blood price when retrieving it. Very pleased to be able to log this find when I was having my doubts that we would be successful. TFTC Scrub Bull
Muggle65 and l parked at the road leading to Roman Bones. We found a rather overgrown track almost as soon as we crossed the road. M65s log has the coordinates for the easy way in. Cache took quite a bit to find but eventually we did. Names added and two happy cachers walked back to the car. Thank you so much for this series. We loved it
Parking just off the road near "Roman Bones", TGG & I wandered into the bush heading east until we came across "the track" mentioned is previous logs. See pic for the Co Ords for the track closer to the road. Approaching the GZ was a bit of an off the beaten track & searching for the cache was time consuming as we found from a previous log was off by about 11metres. Found it we did! signed it we did! left it how we found it we did!! GREAT SERIES hope they stay and don't get archived EVER!
Tftc scrub bull, parked on Yurol Forest Dr, at the turn off to Roman Bones cache and headed in a straight line towards GZ, soon joined a disused forest track that made the walk a lot easier. When 70ishM out had to bush bash to GZ. Saw machete evidence from previous finder, (big thank you) and soon arrived at GZ.
Looked around quite a bit, (pH signal patchy). Eventually read log that stated cache is in treacherous spot and might get washed away.
Into the creek bed we went and soon cache spotted, signed and returned.
Used Roman Bones cache to navigate back to where we had parked the geomobile.

Found at 12:46 PM GAFF4.
We were driving up and down Elm St and Kiln Kiln Rd looking for the 4wd track that would take us to the cache that we saw on the satellite map, but could not find the start of it. Eventually we got out of the car and walked into the bush and found the track (see co-ords up above for the track that heads east to the cache) however it is now hardly a track and very overgrown. So there was nothing for it but to walk 450 metres in and 450 out and surprisingly it didn't take that long at all
At GZ we could see that we were not going to be able to get around that easily due to the tangled mess of branches, logs, stumps, vines and steep creek banks and were hoping for accurate co-ords for a quick find - but sadly that didn't happen
We checked out all the safe spots that we would place a cache in - all to no avail and then finally at a distance of 11 metres (which is not too bad in these conditions) and in a very perilous location, the cache was casually unearthed. I say perilous because it looks like the cache hiding spot has been gauged out by the creek when it flows and is in danger of being washed away.
Thanks Scrub Bull for hte adventure.

Day 3 of our weekend geocaching adventure with RoddyC, hatzofff and Snickersallan, we are continuing our adventure by 4WD today. Hubby came up for the day and is driving us around the caches in this area.
Unfortunately the hope for dry tracks were dashed by the storm that went through the area last night. Most tracks were still accessible but did make for an interesting drive. Our 4WD is quite capable and hubby a great driver so no problems.
Last one of the EVIL series and the hardest one to find. Found a way in which required a 450m walk then a battle with wait-a-while vines while trying to search the area. GPS bounce didn't help and taking care not to get really caught, Snickersallan was searching another area when she asked me to check a certain place. Sure enough, there is the cache. WOW that was a tricky hide. Happy to sign the logbook and then return it to its hide. Now to get back out without too many spikes. A fav point from us.
Thanks for an excellent series and location.

Just because an event was cancelled, doesn't mean we cancel our weekend. Now what can we do. Today is 4WD. Set off into the evil forest hoping that the heavy downpour last night won't make it too difficult.
Thank you for the series. Great to see these caches lasting so long.

This being our last day of our stay in the lovely Pomona area and hoping the heavens are not going to open as they had done so last night. Turned out to be a nice but cloudy day and our mission was to complete the EVIL series and a few other caches along the way.
Finally we have arrived for the final cache in the little series and it was by far the hardest to search for at and around the GZ area. It was a good 450 mtr walk along an old well worn track we found before venturing into the bush a further 100 mtrs or so.
Approaching GZ we were all over powered with Wait a while (Hairy Mary) or Lawyer vine or what ever you want to call that nasty fine vine that hugs you to death, pulls threads out of your clothing and draws blood from its tiny scratches. There was so much of it here, literally everywhere you moved so we had to keep our eyes wide open and move very slowly whilst searching for the prize at the same time.
We struggled to find the container and with so many variables it was hard going until I decided on a different approach from the opposite side then soon spotted something familiar - could it be there...yes, thank goodness, so lets quickly sign the log and get out of this prickly situation. Great hiding spot CO, well done.

Our final day on the Sunny Coast is around Pomona, looking mainly at the EVIL series of six caches and any others this inclement weather will permit.
What an adventure! The Payrol14 vehicle got us up a fair way along a long-since-used track before walking became imperative. At GZ it was a battle with that prickly stuff you can't see until it grabs you. Thank goodness for secateurs!
After a while Snickersallan crossed to the other side of the creek, and after several "Ow"s turned around and suggested a look at something back below where we were. Bingo! Well spotted, Snickersallan.

I contacted GeoNayfee and said I was looking at doing the evil series of caches at Pomona and a couple as we passed. It’s an early morning trip as I want to be home by mid-afternoon, not a big day, but we are going to have to leave early. Yeah sounds good and with a leave pass granted we were off. A 4 am start for me and a pickup along the way saw us arrive in Pomona by 6.30 am. To keep my cache a day and my trad a day challenges going we picked up a couple along the side of the road first. A short stop for some breakfast and then we were off caching the evils or so we thought.
A wrong turn into the wrong forest saw us doing some 4 wheel driving on some very turned up tracks and then, oh shoot, we were stuck. With all the rain and mud there was no way of getting up that hill in the clay…. 2 hours later with the ruts filled in and the centre mounds dug up, we finally got out, only to find the next issue ahead and then the next. 3 and a half hours later we were finally out and back on the right path. Hmm so much for the early caching day.
OK, then the day picked up and we were off collecting all 6 of the evil series and a few trads in the area as well. It was a fun filled day, I can see why the names of the caches came about, that landscape in certain parts was just pure evil. Plants that reached out and grabbed you, grass that was 6 foot tall, trees falling beside us, vines with 2 inch long thorns and then there was the walking in creek beds and water crossings; what an adventure.
All in all it was a good day, I think I made it home around 630 pm, hmm early day lol. Thank you for the puzzles and the caches, most are still in good condition with some needing a little attention of broken lids or damp log books. I have given 3 favourite points to certain caches, thank you.

Chamad got in contact with me yesterday to see if I had any plans for today, which I didn't, but I wasn't sure if my partner had anything planned so I had to double check with her since she likes to make plans at the last second, but luckily I got the all clear from her and was able to tag along with Chamad for an epic adventure up to Pomona. Huh, where the hell is that? I had to ask where that was because I've never heard of the place before, so I checked to see where we were going. "Wooow! That's a decent trek! But with most of the target caches being off road we decided to take Chamad's beast because my little Broom Broom wouldn't make it over a tiny pebble on a good day.
The day started extremely early and I'm NOT a morning person so it was rather difficult to get out of bed at that time (4:30am), but after some food and a decent sized coffee I felt more alive and ready for the day ahead. I meet Chamad at my local shopping centre, left my car and we made our way to Pomona.
Our target caches for the day were the Evil series and wow, they were evil, the whole area was evil. Getting bogged for several hours, walking through spider webs and getting whipped in the face by strange plants that cut up my face. Yeah.. It's an evil place that's for sure, we also picked up several trads along the way as we made our way around the area.
All in all, despite the blooded face and getting bogged it was a great day out today. At times it looked like it was going to rain, but thankfully it didn't, the tracks were already soaked with water, so we didn't really need anymore.
Thank you for placing these caches for us to enjoy. Some were more evil then others, but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience here today.
Certainly did our fair share of bush bashing to get to this one.

This has been sitting on my solved list for quite some time. Today was the day to reduce the list (slightly...). Found a good access way to the cache, but took a very long time to locate. Not where we expected. TFTC!
Supposedly there is safety in numbers but having 5 sets of eyes looking for this cache did finally get the desired results. The group managed to reach GZ ok but damp from the drizzle that fell. On a side note, I've been to this area 3 times and each time it's been raining. Surprised the area isn't swimming in moss.
At GZ we all separated like a shot gun was fired in our direction then the deadly dance with wait-a-while began. I came prepared this tie with secateurs in case I had to remove a vine or an arm. We searched high and low, left and right. For future finders the consensus of the group is the hide is 20m to the east of the solved GZ. Another hint, look down. Good luck to future finders and be prepared to pain the blood cost to sign the log, thanks Scrub Bull for setting up this evil series.

The last one we needed so joined the rest of our awesome cachers to mount a group assault. Managed to locate a sort of path so only dealt with the vicious wait a while for the last 80m or so. All five of us searched high and low and taking into account reports from previous logs. After a PAF we finally had one of our group spot the hide. Unusual and not expected spot ! Evil indeed!
So lush through here and even more so with the light sprinkle of rain making everything glisten. Met up with Gcoven and Team ARF to collect this one as it was the only they were missing. Still it took us a while and a PAF was made to get us out of the drizzle.
Beautiful walk in to this one. Lots of spiky things around the place but every reward has a little risk ️ 5 of us looking, but still no luck until a PAF had us in the right area. I had this one about 20m out from GZ, but there were a lot of trees and cloud cover which might explain it! TFTC
Solved the evil series a while ago and decided to come in search of them now that the Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted allowing us to travel further. But unfortunately the forest is now closed, so we only managed this one of the Evils. Parked up on Yurol Forest Drive and walked the rest of the way to my GZ where I searched and searched getting in even bigger circles without any luck, so decided to PAF (thanks for that Janet) who gave me lots of information but I still couldn't find the cache. I was about to give up when I spotted the darn thing in its lair, I was so pleased to find the metal box in the middle of the forest but managed to fall over in all the excitement. Signed log and returned as found. On arriving home, I went to take off my wet trainers only to find a flipping leech had hitch a lift home with me and it took geowife quite some time to stop the bleeding and clean the floor up!!! Oh the joys of geocaching. TFTC Scrub Bull
I parked in a good place on YFD and with some information from a previous finder crossed over and followed a track to about 100 mtrs from GZ. After way marking the end of the track I walked through the bush avoiding any nasties. Headed on down at GZ and found the cache. Log signed and ammo tin replaced as found. A great little adventure this morning. TFTC
Today I conquered the Evil series. I was chatting to another geocacher last weekend. Was told they weren’t to hard to solve. To back that up, I started solving one of them when we were talking. A few minutes later had it solve. Then I just started laughing. She look at me to see what was funny. I told her I just finished solving it.
4 days later had finished all 6. But that’s just me, 3 of them were just causing me problems. I was using the wrong solver program. Now that was the easy part.
I check will Grannysmith1947 if she would like to come along us usually she said yes. We bought along Miss Millie. Maybe we shouldn’t it turn out to be a National Park whoops .
So the day was planned to pickup 5 traditional and 6 mystery, found fist traditional at 8.40am and the last mystery was found at 1.40pm. One we had to MAF because that one was causing us problems.
Oh, that wait awhile caused us a lot of pain. I am glad that I read some of the logs. I went up with long pants on. But should had wore long sleeve to. And maybe a helmet as well. I came away with scratches behind my ear. Ouch.
I will not be going back. Lucky I have a 4wd because I needed it with all the wet tracks.
After them we grab two letterbox so that now 50 I have collected. Now only have one letterbox left on the Northside of Brisbane a few Southside and all clear up to north of Gympie. . And I cleanup two DNF I had. So 15 caches for the day.
Sorry for a generic post.

This cache took way longer than it needed to be, the puzzle was a nice and easy solve so we parked near the bones cache and made our way in along the fire track with a slight bush bash to GZ, the amount of prickle bushes to GZ wasn’t ideal and the three of us had blood pouring out before we even got to the cache.
We arrived near GZ and the fun began, over here or over there nope no luck, where can this ammo can be. With the GZ bouncing it made it hard. A few logs were read and we expanded the search but still we were struggling. After 30mins we were about to give up but a last ditch to a previous finder and the cache was soon found not long after. The excitement of finding a metal box in the bush is kinda sad really.
A fun adventure though and glad to come away with a smiley.
On a holiday to Queensland to meet up with my two younger brothers (JL Rockstar) for a holiday/caching trip, a 4 day adventure that started with some disasters but slowly got better throughout which ended on a high.
Travelling up to tin can bay and Gympie, our to Kilroy and south west out to Ipswich.
Overall a great trip away with a total of 79 finds excluding the almost 50 labs found.
Thanks for the cache and it’s placement.

What can we say nice about this one? It’s just evil!!
By far, this was the hardest cache to find today.
But first... the puzzle. We’re not very good at puzzles but we finally got onto ‘something’ that knew what to do and produced the answer we wanted. That spurred us on to solve the rest in the series. We persevered and eventually solved them all. Today we set out to find them.
We left the car parked near the ‘Bones’ cache and walked in following a cleared forest track to the last 110m. Then it was a bush-bash.
At GZ the GPSrs were dancing around lots so we put them away and started our search. Wider and wider we slowly went... leaving nothing un-checked.
Finally... there it was! Looking right back at us. Oh, how finding a box in the bush can make us so happy.
Thanks heaps for the challenge here Scrub Bull. Happy to report all is good with the cache and it has been put back exactly as we found it.

Heading north today to clean up the Evil series in Yurol State Forest and then clean up at a local CITO. I got a nice early start - a few caches around Cooroy , some great coffee then I hit Yurol State Forest.
The Evil series has been on my to do list for a very long time. However, all my caching buddies have already completed it - so solo it was today.
I had chosen another cache - long unloved and logistically very difficult to get to for my 5,000th milestone. However, busy weekends and the odd cache here and there meant the milestone rolled around before an attempt could be made on this other special cache. So I was looking for a suitable replacement milestone cache - an iconic local cache with an appropriate DT and some history to it. Given I had planned to be in the area for a CITO today, it all made sense for the DT 5/5 Evil 5 to be number 5,000! And 6 months unloved to boot!
This one probably took the longest of the series. I could not find the entry to the track from the road. So I parked on the road and walked the 400 odd metres to the cache. I was running out of time to make the CITO, so I was hoping for a quick find here. LOL.
Most finders are attacked by wait-a-while, and I was no different. Having read a few logs, I knew to expand the search. Can't be too difficult - ammo cans are easy to spot. Well not this one. Eventually, in my wanderings at GZ, I stood on the container. The pen in the container does not work and I must have dropped my pen on the walk in. In this predicament before I was used charcoal, rocks and mud to sign the log book. I wasn't leaving without signing it. It seemed appropriate that I sign it in blood from the wait-a-while fight. Was doing this when I spotted the pen I dropped.

Woohoo!! Happy dancing!! My first 5/5 DT. This was my third attempt so by now I didn’t even need to navigate, just went straight to GZ. I had a suspicion from last time and a tip from Dahumbug at an event today confirmed it. Persistence paid off and that elusive log book was signed.
First attempt we parked on nursery rd and bush bashed our way in 800m, battling the evil wait a while and other prickly vines. At GZ it kept bouncing all over. Very little battery left and drizzly rain so we called it quits. Second attempt we came in on the track as per satellite image and comments from previous logs. So much quicker! But again, once we hit the creek bed the gps bounced all over and we were battling wait a whiles. Decided to let this one go as we were losing light and had enough of the evilness.
Yesterday while picking up the Bones series traditionals with Wayn0 the D/T rating of these hides caught my attention.
Last night I set about solving them. I surprised myself that within 15 minutes I had coordinates for the series. Either I'm becoming more familiar with puzzle types or it wasn't as easy to plug info into decoders 10 years agos when these were placed. Having said that I've found plenty of D1.5's that deserve a higher rating so I was happy to get out today with Wayn0 at the wheel of the sure footed Suzuki Jimny and make the finds.
We parked up within about 100m of all the hides and bush bashed through the undergrowth with the 'wait-a-whiles', leeches and ticks taking their payment of blood (only 1 leech and 1 tick for the day - a first for me, adding to the adventure.)
First we did some circling in the car to find the track to save us 500m of bush bashing. On the second loop heading from the opposite direction on Yurol Forest Drive I spotted a break in the trees. You beauty!
Parked up 110m from the cache before we spent quite a while circling around on foot. I had to read through the logs to pick up some hints, 14m off, down, entry point, clink.....trod on it! Woohoo! Back to back 5/5's. Awesome.
Got very lucky here. Could have taken a lot longer.
FP for a thoroughly enjoyable series, it was satisfying to collect the challenging hides.
Thanks for hiding Scrub Bull.

This was a bitter DNF. I can't remember much of the puzzle as we solved it many months ago. Today we went out to collect a few evils on our way back home. While the first two we attempted were easy finds this one caused trouble.
We found a good access track. As a sign a few metres up the road prohibited entry we entered the area afoot. After a while we crossed paths with a massive red belly black. , the first snake of this kind we encountered while caching. Could be worse... The good track had ended by now and we had to go xcountry. Me made some good progress to end up in a truly evil, wait-a-while infested place. 4 pairs of eyes searched for ages but no cache could be spotted. GPS was a bit bouncy but always came back to the same spot. We searched up to a quite big radius around it but nothing. We finally had to call it a day as the sun was abount to go down and we were neither willing nor prepared to walk around here in the dark.

This was the last cache for me to find in the Evil series up here. What a fun, splashy, slidey, muddy, bouncy place it was today, with heavy rain coming and going and returning as the day progressed. Dahumbug drove his 4WD marvellously and I navigated terribly, lol. Well, he did get to explore some parts of the forest he hadn't been before... we kinda figured out why too, but there was no getting bogged or anything. Humbug hadn't been in the forest with so much water and mud and rain before so that was fun too.
We got the other caches and then headed out of the forest for a few minutes before ducking back in through a Narnia type entrance track. Track?? Yeah, apparently! But then all of a sudden it really was a track and we set off into the depths, bounced over one fallen tree and stopped as close as possible to GZ. It was still rainy so I put my sexy blue poncho back on and since humbug had his sexy high-vis jacket on we were safe in the knowledge we probably wouldn't be getting lost in here. Oh, and after one forgetful moment at one of the evils, I was now remembering to take waypoints when we parked the car, so that kinda helps.
Ok, so the cache is somewhere over and down there. Off I went, humbug stalking me from behind, very keen to watch me suffer for as long as possible, and reminding me how long this particular cache has taken 'some' people to find it when on their own, lol. We then chatted about leeches as I commenced my search, unsuccessfully trying to dodge the hateful wait a while weeds. Apparently every time bug goes into that creek a leech hitches a ride. So today he wasn't going anywhere near the creek. He was determined there would be no hitchhikers today. Well, I went over and up and along and down. I had poisoned my legs with Bushmans but still kept checking my boots every now and then... there were no travellers on me today. Eventually I asked for a hint. Eventually I given a hint. Then eventually I found the nicely hidden cache.
For anyone that may be reading, wondering with anxious anticipation as to the ending of the leech story... well when we left the forest, the rain started persisting down again and our plans changed a little. We headed off to one of dahumbug's caches to perform some maintenance. As he walked off I noticed he indeed had a stripey little blood sucking traveller on the back of his leg! When I stopped giggling about it I removed it for him, since he did such a great job of driving me all over the forest and I am still very grateful.
Thank you Scrub Bull, for this superb evil series and bringing me to this pretty amazing forest. Thanks dahumbug for giving me my first 4WD experience, and being patient and not mean, lol. I'm glad the rain and bigger puddles (and my awesome navigational skills) made it a slightly different experience here for you too.

This is our lucky last for the day, with have the other two solved but time is running out for us to get home and get ready to go out to dinner. We evened ummed and ahhed about this one but in the end the draw of one cache was too strong.
We used satellite here and spied a path once we got past the first bit of corruption, the path didn’t last long until we had to head off of it. Arriving near GZ we have seen other people had expanded their search so we packed the phones away and started looking in every hidey hole as there were so many hiding spots.
40minutes later and all we had was 5% percent charge on our phones and an excused conjured up of why we were going to be late for dinner. Every way one of us turned we were hook by that plant that is like a razor wire and we were dropping more F bombs then Rodney Rude. A distress call was made and wow this PAF call was worth it, she managed to guide us so close to it and then it was just a matter at looking at it from the right direction, pure evil.
Leaving another FP along with the viral of blood we left behind in here as well. We will be back for the last two in the series very soon.

Well this looked Iike it might be a bit of a walk in to the cache. Graham had thought he might have spied a track that would take us even closer off Elm Street. Wow this track was perfect and took us to within 110m of GZ. How cool are we to find such a perfect track and save ourselves 500 m of bush bashing! The short walk in was not too thick and it was easy to pick a path to avoid the wait a while vines.
Once at GZ the GPSr was bouncing a bit. And we looked here and there and in all sorts of places. There were so many places it could be. We looked in and around so many moss covered logs and nothing. We got tangled up in wait a while as we got more desperate! No we are not leaving. Look this is a 5/5 as well. We can’t leave without finding it. This will mean two 5/5 in one day! Nope we can smell it. So we went back to GZ let the gps settle and started circling out from there. Happily one of us spotted it. Not at all in a place we expected! Happy dance and high fives. It was about 14 m out from our reading.
Now back to the car. Woops we got a little lost getting back to the car, a change in direction and another 100 m walk and we were set to go and get another evil cache
Thanks again for the adventure and fun in finding this cache Scrub Bull

After completing the previous cache, I looked at the map to see where we were heading next.... only to find no track leading anywhere near this cache!!!
Thankfully, dahumbug was in the know, and we were soon driving back out along the road to look for a secret location. And as soon as he found it he was flooring it through the middle of nowhere, to sounds of "argh" and "ow" coming from 1GiantPanda in the back seat
Once we had reached the "end of the road" we exited the vehicle and dahumbug sensibly marked a WP so we could find our way back to the car. A fairly easy wait-a-while-free clamber through the bush to GZ, where we soon found more of the evil plant awaited us. My ph coords put me at a log, which yielded nothing, but the bounce did seem to start playing around here. After a little while I resorted to a clue from dahumbug, asking if I was at least heading in the right direction. Then I spotted an interesting spot but still couldn't put my finger on the money. It ended up significantly further than I expected going by what my phone had initially told me, but the sneaky hide finally revealed itself.
Then it was back to the car, Evil Mission complete.
Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull, and the series, and thanks for the chaperoning today dahumbug.

Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull, and the series, and thanks for the chaperoning today dahumbug.
tag a long day with just a trifle evil plan in place by fasted
this was our first for the day
driver found a good spot to park
now finding out they have already been evil and were just out for fun
still a little walk
four of us wondered around for a while with gps's and phones playing leapfrog with each other
one remembered it was a ways from gz
with that hint fasted soon had it in hand

Invited along to do this series and who am I to say no. Arrived at parking spot only to find out the people we were with had already done the series. Left my notes in their car, but will endeavour to note what I can remember.
This one took a while, but with 4 GPS's going finally stumbled across the hide.

After solving all of the Evil puzzles some months ago, my awesome geopartner WallabyTim and I slowly chipped away at getting the smilies. Was today the day we completed them all? It nearly didn't happen. Armed with the knowledge that the co-ords were most likely off, it opened up a huge search area. With the challenging terrain amd constant threat of injury from the evil plant life, I stuck to one bank while WallabyTim scoured the other. Nope, no luck. With frustration rising I backed myself to make it to the other side. Yep that wasn't too difficult. The search continued before a plethora of cuss words came from below - immediately followed by FOUND IT! WallabyTim had rolled his ankle and in doing so caught a glimpse of the cache. Meant to be perhaps? I then realised I had no idea how I had gotten to where I was or how to get back. Thank goodness WallabyTim has great bush sense and helped me reach him and the cache and then slowly get us back to the car. One of my least favourite caches but a 5/5 is worth it right? TFTC
Found with my amazing geo-partner KaleidoscopeCass. This was our last for the day and after about 30mins searching i was getting grumpy from the wait a while tearing me up. It was only till i took a step and half rolled my ankle did i finally spot the cache while finding a spot to take the weight off my foot.. well.. I found it right?? I had to guide Cass to my location so she could spot the caches evil....EVIL location... yes I had stood right ontop of it earlier.. and now it reveals itself. Log signed. Placed back exactly as we found it.. now to use my inner bushman and head back to the geo-cruiser.. .. favorite point for the challenge in terrain and difficulty..
Out for a day of caching with vennfamily and vegan cachers after solving these puzzles at home last week.
I think the evil part of this one is trying to figure out how to assess the cache. I was keen (well maybe not keen, but happy enough) to just keep on walking from evil 6 but vf had read that there was an easier way in. Back in the car where we did several reccie laps trying to find an old assess road with no joy. Pulled over and with us all studying various maps on our phonesVCs made a suggestion. Followed our noses and a track of sorts opened up in front of us. I was happy to walk along here as no signs of wait a while and didn't want to scratch the 4WD but the boys were keen to drive as close as possible. Well vf got us to about 100m of the cache. Great job.
VC mentioend how much easier this was than his last experience here that left him blood stained.
Now to find the cache. Up the creek bank, down the creek bank, caught in w-a-w, up caught up again, down.... GPS bounce here is terrible - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Examined many logs, stumps, trees, all coming up empty when vf who was a bit further down from me, saw something a little suspicious. The cache.
That was an evil hide!
This was the final evil puzzle for us today and I must say this was a great series. Puzzles that aren't impossible and beautiful bush land to explore.
Thanks Scrub Bull for all your efforts here.

Find #2296
I have had the Evil series solved for some time and needed two of them to complete the second loop of my D/T grid. Today was the day that I decided to head up and find them. Vegan Cachers, although having done the series previously, offered to join me and, at the last minute, nikid1 announced her availability to join us as well. We got through the target caches in quick time while having a lot of fun and even managed to grab a few bonus caches on the way home.
We drove a couple of laps of the forest trying to find the fabled 4WD track in to the posted coords. After scouring the area as well as Google Maps, I eventually found some promising contours on QTOPO and Mr VC found a promising line of trees. We headed for the spot and immediately saw the faint track. The coords for the trailhead are S26 23.238 E152 53.235. Mr VC had mixed emotions about finding the track as he had had to walk the 500m in last time he was here. It was definitely much nicer to drive to within 100m of the cache.
The hide was a suitably evil one to finish the series on.

Although we did the Evil series a couple of year's ago I couldn't knock back the opportunity to tag along & revisit these great caches.
Teamed up with **nikid1 & vennfamily** (designated driver & instigator of this adventure) & headed north.
There is always the chance of picking up a few extras along the way! LOL ... Caches that is!
This was the cache I wanted most to revisit as it had been the most difficult to find, for me, two years ago.
We did a couple of laps around the area because I was certain there was a closer access point than the one I had used way back when.
Older logs had mentioned driving to within 100 metres of GZ so this was to be a 'double' search.
The first for the old trail closely followed by the search for the cache proper.
A more 'focussed' search revealed a possible 'entry point', which turned out to be 'spot on!'
A leisurely stroll in with only a few brief encounters with Wait-a-While soon had us at GZ.
There followed a bit of searching, poking & prodding before the cache was spotted by a keen eye.
Marked the log to record my visit.

Glad to finally pick up the last of the evil series , we had the puzzle solved, found the old track into the cache with the help of old maps and Google Earth and then Mrs bushedtwo broke her leg so now four months later we can see if the screws and pins have the leg healed well enough to tackle a Scrub Bull cache. The 4x4 had us only 100m to the find with only a few scratches down the side and the walk in was the usual wait- a- while vines and prickly bits. Found the ammo box and pulled it out and sure enough a leach was attached to it. Did all the signing of the log and replacing the cache and felt we had earned this one. A special evil thanks to Scrub Bull for the series.
All I can say is that lantana is extra nasty. The tradie shirt i bought from Aldi for $20 was worth it.
I had solved these puzzles a couple of weeks ago and already been to find two of them with stortigirls. Today, we were back with keepingupwith to find the rest of the series. I parked the car and we put on our backpacks and set off. Once in the forest, the waitawhile vine seemed to be everywhere. the ladies in the group seemed to spend as much time disentagling themselves from it as they did walking. Stortgirls definitely copped the worst of it. Eventually, we reached GZ and began our search. We searched and searched without luck. We read some previous logs but that didnt help. After some more fruitless searching, keepingup with decided to resolve the puzzle to check my solution. Uh, oh.....thats not right. Turns out that I had cross entered the solutions for two of these caches. :s We thought we were at Evil Six, but were actually at Evil Five. So that we wouldnt have to go through this again, I aligned the coords with the correct caches on my phone. We read some more logs and continued our search. Getting frustrated, I decided to PAF. With an extra hint (thanks you), we expanded our search a little. The cache was found safely in its hiding spot after a bit of a search. We added our names to the logbook, returned the cache to its hiding spot and headed back to the car, being more wary of the waitawhile vine. TFTC
We were back to complete the Evil Series today with Selva Girls and Keeping Up With. After getting as close as we thought we could to gz, we kitted up and off into the bush we went. The wait-a-while vine and other thorny plants were not kind to me today, and by the time we got to gz my legs were bleeding as well as a few other assorted war wounds. After a big hunt we resorted to a PAF and found the cache soon after. Very Evil indeed. Tftc Scrub Bull
I was out with SelvaGirls and StortiGirls on a fun day of blue skies, thick scrub and an occasional cache. This cache providing the later two.
SelvaGirls had managed to find a good spot to park, but with no tracks in sight we took the directly through there approach to GZ. The scrub would have been ok if it weren't for the lawyer vine in abundance. We were all a bit bloodied by the time we found GZ, but StortiGirls had copped it the worst.
We started looking with a lot of bounce an very little luck so we had a look at the previous logs. A little moment of panic later because they were all not taking about the same cache. Did we have the correct solution? So I sat down to resolve the puzzle only to discover we were 600 meters out... Luckily however that was just because we had the coords for EVIL FIVE and EVIL SIX switched. Doubly luckily however, somehow the coords we had for EVIL six were wrong, so we save ourselves from finding that out the hard way.
Back to the search and things were looking grim so some PAFs were made and just as the spoilers were about to hit I spied a something. Huzzah!
Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull!

Booyah Found it!
Well I knew I wanted to complete my Geocaching Roadtrip Souvenirs and what a better way to do it than with a T5/D5 Scrub Bull Puzzle.
Solved this puzzle 18 months or so ago but due to a little mishap whilst out caching in the Yurol state forest (which will not be spoken about) I never got to complete more than 2 EVILS in the series. I have misplaced the solved answers to the rest except for this one.. and I hear this is one of the hardest- I'm always up for the challenge .. and just to let you know to.. I completed this 8.5 months pregnant with the help of Geo husband.
The hardest part in my opinion was finding the track which led to the cache. We must have gone around twice before we finally figured it out. Not wanting to scratch my geo mobile we parked maybe 200 metres from GZ (you can only get to about 100m to GZ by car anyway)
Arriving at GZ we quickly realised a GPS was no good to us and this is where the EVIL fun began. I took to facebook to let my local caching buddies know I wasn't going to let this challenge beat me.. I knew at that point that a DNF was not an option. DaHumBug taunted by commenting back "it could be over there or is it over there or up there or..."
I must admit that my flexibility was not the greatest and I had to be very very careful with where I stepped.
15 minutes later!!!
FOUND!
Sneaky but not sneaky enough! Could not wipe the smile off my face ALL day!
Thanks Scrub Bull!

It had rained all night and with the morning it showed no sign of easing. We had solved these caches early in our caching life but had always assumed that we would have to climb hills and walk Kms so had avoided them on every occasion. Today we were all geared up for a fantastic and Evil adventure with dahumbug who had so generously offered to ferry us around the area. When we met up we queried the state of the roads but dahumbug assured us that his 4WD (and his driving!) could cope. So off we went for one half of one our best day's caching. The final Evil for the day and the how Evil is it? Into the correct area and look and look and look while dahumbug looks on laughing. Eventually we make it into the correct area and look in every nook and cranny before spotting the very clever and evil final hide. At last we have done them all!!!!

Saturday. Slow Puncture was on the road again with Linden/6 to get some more needed caches in the Sunshine Coast hinterland area. We had pondered over the Evil puzzles so some time ago we had set out to have them all solved, in readiness for one assault on the lot. Today was the day!
This one was our last cache for the day. 6/6 found of evil caches. We spent time looking for a spot to see if we could drive a bit closer to this cache, as the main road had us nearly 500 metres from the cache and the power line trail had us much further away again. Back to the road and in we walked – sooo much wait a while vine! I’m punctured everywhere from this stuff and Dennis was also feeling the effects of this ‘lovely’ vine.
At GZ and reading previous logs left us no closer to finding this case. Dennis decided he was not leaving without having found this one whilst I was feeling ambivalent! After 11 caches for the day (and only spending about 5 ½ hours caching), I thought we were out of luck with this one. Kerry attempted a couple of PAFs as did Dennis. One of the callers was there at the time they were needed and very good help received. Aha!, it is a very very sneaky hide!
Apparently the path we were looking for which would have taken us a short distance to the cache was the one we walked over to get to the bushland, but after not having found the way onto this path, we felt ecstatic that we had this one under our belts! A high five and we left for home with a bounty of cache finds. We felt this cache was the hardest one to find out of all the Evil caches.
This was the 11th out of 11 caches we found on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]Scrub Bull[/Blue], for bringing us here.

Another day of crazy caching planned with KC of Slow Puncture.
Having solved all the necessary puzzles we were ready to hit the trail.
The Evil series was our target list with, hopefully a few extras along the way.
If there is a hard way & an easy way to do something I can almost guarantee I'll find the hard way.
I call it 'Character building!' LOL ...
Funnily enough, at the end of the day, it still gets the desired result!
Having driven both sides of this cache's proposed GZ we decided the approach from the road was a better option than from the power lines.
Also much shorter despite still being about 480 metres cross country, through the bush!
Off we set!
Fighting our way through all kinds of nasty, scratching, stabbing, tearing vegetation we were still making good headway towards the cache location.
Finally ... GZ!
Despite bleeding from several parts of my jungle-torn limbs we had arrived at GZ at last.
Now to put this baby to bed & stumble back out before sanity deserts us.
Well, we looked everywhere within a 30 metre diameter circle from what averaged out to be GZ & had nothing.
Did it all again, & again, & again ...
I am just NOT getting it!
Several logs have said this was the most difficult of the series & I certainly agree.
Sat down, read through ALL the available material AGAIN!
I could hear KC nearby as she fossicked & stumbled about.
We were both cursing the ever-present 'Wait-a-while' which was definitely taking it's pound of flesh today!
I did another search of what I thought was GZ only to come up empty-handed yet again!
NO!!! Five out of six is not going to be a happening thing here today!
5 Evil's & 5 Ring-ins in the bag, this one is coming home with us as a smilie!
Yes, I did it. I resorted to ...
... a PAF.
Fast running out of patience, energy & daylight I phoned a friend!
As they say 'A friend in need is a friend indeed!'
Needless to say I was pointed in the right direction but only after bemoaning our fates at the wicked clutches of this new plantation of Wait-a-while that had not only shredded me but portions of my clothing as well!
Still on the phone when I called out in a slightly crazed yet still victorious tone 'Got it!'
Thank the caching gods for PAFs! LOL ...
Another little bit of refreshing information gleaned from recent logs & my PAF was that we could have driven to within 100 metres of the cache.
Well, that cheered me up no end!
Now we were faced with the outward trek of another 480 metres of Wait-a-while torture!
All for a good cause - we got our smilie!

Austrees and I were at the ANZAC event at Dunethin Rock, when sweet-sour asked for extra eyes to find this one. So we went along. We had all sorts of hints gleaned from all and sundry. Prime amongst them however were the tales of wait-a-while. We also had read previous logs. Our search ranged far and wide, through wait-a-while, and even more wait-a-while. It seemed that we went so far east, that the ocean had to be over the next hill. So, we came back. This time, I was cautious, avoiding the wait-a-while. I was about to take a step up, when - eureka! It was there.

After searching in various spots and fighting with the Wait-a While vines, the cache was located and the log signed. The cache was returned as found.

We need a D5 as part of our Road Trip Challenge.. Funnily enough we had tried to get it at Baxter Falls prior to the Anzac event at Dunethin Rock yesterday, and had met other cachers at the event who also failed to find the cache at Baxters Falls and guess who found us as we were trying to find this cache! It is good to meet other cachers at a cache as we had a good chat and as locals I am sure we will see them again.
Anyway Austpark found this cache as he was chatting and just saw it. We had spent 30 minutes getting stuck with wait a while prior to this.
I can see kayaking in our future to make D5s easier!

Out with 5Meerkats bashing around the back blocks hunting the Evil series before heading up a mountain the locals would be very familiar with; you can see it from just about everywhere around here! We had an early start with a decent coffee before dawn, then made our way to Pomona, Cooroy and surrounds.
Spinna Scott needs a big thank you for showing us where to find the track, it really was quite hidden. Headed in and searched a billion obvious spots, before a PAF tipped us off in the right direction. Wouldn't have found it nearly as easily there, quite well hidden. The most difficult of the series for us thanks Scrub Bull

Previous finders mentioned that this one was once tethered but it no longer is. Hope it stays put in its location, a local may wish to check
Out with Orange Crew on a long overdue adventure. The day was perfect for it. A cold start, but the day proved to be fine, cool and breezy. Just perfect.
This one I think could be the most tricky of the Evil series. I mean, how can you hide an ammo tin so it cannot be found? A very tricky hide, indeed. I was looking for a similar hide, but focussing my search on the wrong location entirely.

T-Tech, Brother Colin and I are camping at Brooyar for the weekend, and yesterday BC and I each got a big milestone done! 5000 for me and 7000 for him This morning we tackled the task of getting all of the caches done in the forest, and now it's time to head back to Brisbane After one more cache stop in Gympie, T-Tech had had enough of the heat, so we were heading home, when BC called again and said he wanted to have another go at this one. You beauty! After meeting up again south of town, BC and I headed off.
This time we were able to find the obscure track off the road, and made our way slowly towards GZ. A few logs to drive over, but we eventually got to about 100 metres out and walked the rest of the way. However, we spent ages searching all over the area, as the GPSr's had a struggle under the trees After an awful lot of circle work we made a PAF and got the hint we needed. It still took a few minutes before BC called out he found it [^] An EVIL hide indeed TFTC, Scrub Bull. Yay! Finally this series is done!!!!

IolantheK, T-tech and myself were camping at Glastonbury Creek campsite for the week-end and to do some caching around the region as well.
IolantheK and myself needed to find the last 2 warriors (plus a couple of local caches) to get those numbers just right for a major milestone at the cache The Emperor yesterday, my 7000th find.
But unfortunately the week-end is nearly over and we are making our way home to Brissy.
When I suggested heading to this one, as the three of us have not found it, T-tech was a bit over the heat and just wanted to go home. (Fair enough I say) but IolantheK and I are not quite that smart.
So, another attempt, was made.
After quite some searching we decided to use the new 'Fungus app' for a hint.
No wonder I could not find it hidden just there. NASTY.
Thanks for the cache.

Team DNA and myself were having a productive day. With the super, dooper Spangle as our 4WD of choice, we ended up a lot closer to a few of these Scrub Bull caches than we thought we would get. This was the last EVIL left to grab and seeing as we were here already, we decided to go for it. I managed to spot an old track that looked like it may go somewhere. So off we trucked in trusty ol' Spangle.
A bump along the track, a few fallen logs to move and we were soon only 100 metres or so from GZ. We bailed from Spangle, as we couldn't get her any closer and hit the scrub. A short stroll later and the hunt was on. We looked everywhere, but still no cache. Daylight hours were running out, as had the charge on my phone. Angela called in a PAF. With any extra hint we headed back to GZ.
We hunted about for a while longer and then Angela called out victoriously that she had found the well hidden beasty. WOOHOO!!! We had conquered the EVIL series. A few high fives and we went about the ritual signing of the log.
Thanks for the puzzle and the cache Scrub Bull

Off on a caching adventure with Nyssaflutterby.
It was shaping up to be quite a hot day today and I was glad that trusty Spangle helped us get closer than we thought we could go, on most of the Scrub Bull caches. We biked or walked the rest of the distance to the caches!
This had to be the hardest one we had encountered today.
We also found ourselves stuck in Wait A While quite a few times, even Jelly the Wonder Dog was getting stuck in it!!
After about 30 mins of searching, Nyssa was ready to give up and we headed back to Spangle, where we had phone service again!! As we approached Spangle, my PAF came through and gave us a few ideas on where to search.
I relayed the information to Nyssa, and she said that she had already searched there!!!
It gave us a second wind though, so we ploughed back through to GZ to give it another go.
We looked and looked, and looked some more, but we were still coming up empty and were once again ready to throw in the towel, when I spotted the corner of, what turned out to be, an ammo tin!! OMG!!!!
I FOUND IT!!!! Nyssa nearly kissed me!!

Having told dahumbug we wanted to do Evil 5 and 6 while we were up this way he offered to come along. Who were we to say no particularly as we are not locals. (we had solved the puzzles parts by ourselves so felt pretty good). Two passes from the sealed road and dahumbug spotted the faint 4WD track in to the parking area and then on foot with a bit of a light bush bash to GZ. Certainly an evil location. We let the GPSr settle which got us to a certain area and we had a look at a few things.while seeing if the GPSr would further settle or if the accuracy would give out. Dahumbug said we could ask one question to help narrow the search and with that reply we had the find moments latter (no I won't type the question or reply). We completed the signing duties and re hide. TFTC
After Evil 5 was onto Evil 6. Dahunbug had heard the camo had been restored to more in line with the original so we keen to see result. We parked and charged into the scrub to soon get to an evil area. A but of GPSr settling and we soon made a quick find. We completed the signing duties and re hid. It was at this point talk about Serenity on the Mountain picked up again so over the headed, after all it was a full moon. TFTC

This wasn't a puzzle I solved soon after looking at this series as I wasn't aware of this technique, I remember spending hours on this one trying to do it the hard way, however with a bit more experience with other puzzles, I was able to return to this one and solve it quickly.
Arriving at GZ and not only is there wait-a-whiles but the added bonus of a steep gully and lots of trip hazards. So it was quite a slow search as it was impossible to move faster than a crawl! This one took the longest to find and when it was finally found it was no wonder! what nasty sneaky hide!![^]
Thanks Scrub Bull

This was probably the most Evil of all the caches we attempted today. The group converged on GZ to find a myriad of spiky plants covering the search area. At every twist and turn you would get caught up in the plants and as soon as you extricated yourself from one the next one would reach out and grab you. If that was not bad enough the tree cover seemed to play havoc with reception on the GPSr. After a considerable amount of searching, much to the amusement of previous finders in the group who were spectators to the proceedings, Swellerfungus turned up the cache in a most evil hide. Definitely lived up to its name and rating on this one. Tftc
Given doctors orders not to walk to far due to an injury last weekend, I opted to be chauffeur driven to as close as possible to the cache. I am happy to report that this is quite achievable, even though it appears to be closed by logs.
We walked in the last 80 meters, and were amazed at the level of lawyer vines present. Many scratches were gained across the body, arms, legs and even head in the chase for the cache. Previous finders were keeping tight lipped as to the whereabouts of the cache, and laughing at our attempt. After a while we all seemed to be narrowing in on GZ. with an absolute piece of luck I reached for a stick to poke around with, and as I moved it I heard my favourite metallic hollow knock that could only be one thing. I had stumbled on the cache!. I let out the holler to let the others know it was now found. It was a truly EVIL spot to leave it. Well played Scrub Bull, Another Fave Pt from me.
Thanks for all the fun today Scrub Bull.

Solved this one a long time ago, but last time I was in the area we'd run out of time and this one and the last one were skipped. Sadly. But today I was back for some 4WDing fun with mates, and this one was on the list. Enjoyed the walk in to GZ, and those that had done this one before found a comfy spot to relax whilst the rest of us battled the damn Lawyer vines and friends - populous. There was a reasonable number of us at it so in time a telltale clunk brought us all some joy.
Thanks for placing this cache, Scrub Bull. Found in good condition, eventually.

This was the twelfth cache for our motley crew today. I was spending the day caching and four wheel driving with Captain Terror, Fangsoki, Agap2, P`Prime, Crew 153, Herbz, Swellerfungus, Jeff from SeffnJarah and KJTJMJ. We parked the cars at the start of the track as it seemed to have a log across it further down. There were a lot of cyclists riding past but none really gave us a second look.
We made our way down towards the cache and were absolutely torn apart by those damn wait a while vines! I still have a very itchy and scratched up finger, that I have noticed as I am typing this.
We arrived at GZ and started searching. I was hanging around the previous finders as I was trying to get a hint out of them. Mr and Mrs Herbz, Captain Terror and Fangsoki were sitting on a long log, I was talking to the Captain as I watched the log fall in slow motion and drop the four of them two feet lower than they were a second before. It was possibly the funniest thing I had ever seen.
As I was watching this Swellerfungus came up with the cache. The logbook was signed, the cache replaced and we very carefully made our way back to the car trying not to get caught by those vines. When we got back to the car a cyclist was asked why there was so many of them... they replied that they were riding from Agnes Waters! I would rather drive to be honest Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull

I had been invited to join Net88 and a group of other cachers on a run on the Evil caches to complete her D/T chart.
The second last of the series and this one gave us a bit of a walk. It was decided not to take the cars along the track but it probably would have been passable for them all but it didn't take long to arrive at the location.
A lot a snags on the vines as we searched and there was a constant yell of pain from the various cachers.
It took a while for the hunters to locate the cache under the evil eyes of the previous finders who gave no hints at all.
Pity that we have run out of caches in the area. It has been a great time in a great area.
A lot of cyclists passing by on the road as we arrived back at the car. We were told there were 750 riders taking a week to ride from Bundaberg to Brisbane organised by Cycling Queensland. Now that would be a great mega event to attend.
Thanks Scrub Bull.

Parked at the Pomona showgrounds, to cache in the area.
With a little help in the right direction, we managed to solve these evil puzzles.
Left the geo-cruiser on the side of the highway, and made our way through the bush to GZ.
Searched for a while, and then the cache was spotted. Signed and replaced. T: N, L: horse.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Scrub Bull, another favourite point from us.

#431 @ 3:12PM This is our last cache of the Evil Series today and what a hard one that was. After finding a very overgrown track in we headed for the cache. Once at GZ we searched high and low for ages. Then decided to FAF for a hint. Next thing said FAF was powering into GZ steam coming from the sweat on his head. After a hint cache was in hand. If we had expanded our search only a couple of meters we would have found it as it was in plain sight. ~ TFTC Scrub Bull
#258 @ 3:12pm - Since it was my birthday weekend I decided I wanted to finish off the Evil Series and the surrounding caches. We packed a lunch, joined up with some friends and off we went for the day.
This was our eighth and last for today. I read some of the previous logs and thought we might have trouble getting close to it but we managed to find an overgrown track that led us to about 100m away from it (in the car). We walked the remaining distance and started looking everywhere. Without any hints we didn't know if we were to look up, down, left or right. Spinna76 PAF and soon after the cache was in hand. This was EVIL. The last time we tried this we couldn't get anything closer than 450 mtrs so we gave up. After discussion with "The Hunting Rabbit" we found a way in that got us to within 100 mtrs which was much nicer. With the two kids in tow we headed on in to start our hunt. We looked and we looked. We poked and we poked. We did everything possible. After 1.5 hrs we gave up and went back to the car. We realised we had phone reception so we decided to phone "The Hunting Rabbit". He have us some much needed pointers. Mr EMC stayed with the kids and fed them whilst Mrs EMC went back for another look. She looked for another 30 mins and then she decided there were better ways to spend a Saturday than tangled up in lawyer vines trying to dodge leeches. Mr EMC went back in for a look and thankfully he found it. This is EVIL!!!!! We spent just over 2 hours all up looking for this one but thankfully now we can say WE FOUND IT. Great cache hide Mr Scrub Bull!!
We've been dying to do the EVIL series for over a year and as we were leaving Australia at the end of June time was getting short. Puzzles were solved with WTF21 over lunch work over 18 months ago and WTF21 had a brand new 4x4 he was itching to take off road for the first time. Plans were made and off we went. We had no idea what to expect other than these were all ammo cans and difficult hides. How hard can it be to hide an ammo can in the bush?
It was getting late in the day and we only had one more left to go. Just as we had finished EVIL SIX Dahumbug messaged us to see how we were going and where we were. He then met us nearby and accompanied us to EVIL FIVE and showed us an old trail that lead almost to GZ. After the leech at EVIL SIX and having a long day out Mrs THR stayed in the truck for a nap. Being 5 months pregnant and having a big day out she was exhaustred, and told us boys to go find it. In hindsight Mrs THR should have come with us as this one was down right EVIL. There were so many excellent places to hide a cache and the terrain wasn't easy either. Dahumbug let us search and after a good hour we began asking for hints. We would never have found this one without him as the co-ordinates are 20-30m off and devilishly hidden. We are so happy to have finished all EVIL caches in one day!!! TFTC and series Scrub Bull

Ok we had gone ahead and bought the 4WD – no, not a Jeep and I was itching to try it out on some suitable terrain. With a couple of 5/5 D/T rated caches on offer, the EVIL series in the Yurol forest seemed the perfect choice. No convincing was needed to get ‘The Hunting Rabbit’ interested in coming along as this was a puzzle series we had solved over 18 months ago.
We worked our way down from the Northern end with Mrs THR showing her uncanny knack of making quick work of difficult finds picking up Evil numbers 1 to 4. Great hide at Evil 1 and a favourite point there
We made a quick side trip out to collect Woodland Wonder while Mrs THR had a rest in the 4WD and this time THR made the find of a very well camouflaged ammo box.
No luck at Bryophyta – all we got was wet thanks to the rain that had now settled in we both agreed though that the D/T on this cache is a bit underrated!
Next it was time for a Cooroy Coffee. Finally I made a find! Loved the cache container here, didn’t expect that at all – another favourite point.
Live Wire was nice and easy in the middle section before tackling the 5/5’s. This time I was the lucky one to make a lucky very quick find of our first 5/5 cache at Evil 6 gotta make that a favourite!
Heading on along the now slippery and muddy track to Evil 5 we met up with ‘dahumbug’ who had come out to see how we were progressing. I’m happy to admit that without his help I doubt we would have ever found the cache – terrible reception in the scrub made GZ very difficult to pin down and the cache location.... lets just say that was darn EVIL!!
All up, a great day out 4WD’ing and caching with The Hunting Rabbits.

Got within 450 m line from this cache but thick scrub was before us. As it was 3.40 pm and soon to get dark we decided to give it away for another day. It would take a while to take a 2 and 4 y / o through that. We will be back!
Yehaa, found it. Have now completed 2 of this Evil series, more importantly have got my first 5/5.
Have solved the others but this one has me PUZZLED. Could someone please help me out?
I was back again today with slightly altered coords (thanks Mr F) and full of confidence and energy! I could see recent tracks here and there and thought they may have been from the revered Brother's DNF the other day. I was not having much joy from the new coords and of course had to check that the cache was still not where it wasn't on my last visit (funny how one has to do that isn't it?). This time I managed to avoid any blood letting as I picked my way through the lawyer vines.
I decided to try a slightly different approach and found the evil receptacle most devilishly hidden. Thanks for the help Mr F but still about 8m off for me today. Thanks Scrub Bull for my first of a great series, and first 5/5! Woohoo!
To my astonishment it was found only two days ago which exlained the tracks.

This cache was the hardest to find on the day. The three of us had a large search area with very little luck. And luck if what we needed right now. Some how I seem to be the only one that didn't get a leach on me. This cache lived up to its name. TFTC:)
This was Operation Yurol Forest with Papa Smurf 12 and Kiki97. These guys introduced me to the Evil series a few weeks back, not long after I started caching. On that day we had found all the clues to the Bones series, and they threw Evil One at me to solve in 5 minutes flat... Which was easily done. After that day, Us three were always threatening to come back and finish the series. I definitely have to say that Evil One is the best, and Evil 5 was the hardest to find.
6/10/13... 16:00 ( Cache 9 today, and took us over two hours to get to, find it, and get back from the last one)
This one is quite an experience. You have to be quite observant to get close to GZ. I think this is one best left for the experience of things. Between 3 of us, our GZ was bouncing 30 metres around the place. In the end it was a relief to have the cache in hand. I could not acquire any adjusted coordinates for the life of me. You will see a search zone, and that is what it is, a search zone. At one point I even spat the dummy when I had two leeches on me at once. Good times.
Thank you, thank you very much Scrub Bull. Hopefully I get to go with others and watch them find this one in the future.
