No response to the need for maintenance, no sign of the tree from the hints, or the cache at the base of it.
Didn't see anything notable at GZ, certainly no hollow tree - in the recent fire I can imagine the hollow tree was already pretty weak and was toppled - as there's now a big tree fallen over at the coordinates. Looked at it's base, up and down the tree, no ammo can. Looked around for whatever TDC found back then, couldn't see the ammo can they found either.
Now I know why the area smelt really smokey as we cached the area. It looks like a recent fire has passed through the area and unfortunately this cache was a victim of the fire. The tree is gone and what's left of it is now on the ground and the whole area has been burnt out. A grader has been through too, to clear the area. We searched for any remains of the cache and were about to leave when I spotted the ammo container, a fair way from GZ, seems it had been moved by the grader. It is pretty well destroyed and the remains of the log and other contents still inside but pretty well burnt. The cache will have to be replaced at a new location.
This cache was found during a Monday night cache run with Blacklegend, Trailrunning and Rebel Acts (TDC). The weather outlook for the night was not good but although it was bitterly cold the rain did hold off for us. After finding a few city metro caches we headed north of the city for a bit of rural caching, making our way through Broadford, Kilmore and Romsey. We had a fun night with a nice variety of cache hides found. Thanks for the cache.
Found out and about on another TDC caching night. Not a huge amount of finds for me for the night, I had cached in the area before, and the others needed to clean a lot out, so all was good. Had a great night. My appologies for the late logs and generic logs, have had sick kids and in the process of trying to move house. Thanks to all the cache owners for their cache placements. Much appreciated. TFTC.
The Demolition Crew headed north of Melbourne on what we thought was going to be a wet and cold night. Luckily the rain stayed away but it was freezing. The areas visited included Wallen, Strath Creek, Broadford, Kilmore, Lancefield, Romsey, Kerrie and Clarkfield. It was a great night for a drive in these area, as we caught up on this weeks gaching news. A big thank you to all the cache owners who have placed and maintained these caches.

Cache container was badly damaged in recent fire, nice spot.

Found on a TDC run, lots of laughs and good times had while out finding caches. Thanks Spruce Mooses for the cache.
Found this afternoon - enjoyed traipsing through the forest along what seemed to be wombat trails! So many lovely butterflies too - thanks!
Finally the husband got one! Pretty nifty little cache is this, take something special...
the bush was so peaceful this afternoon and wattles magnificent.
the drive along Mt Charlie Rd was a bit hairy in my geomobile.... lots of mud and slippery surfaces and ruts and water..... a bit of an adventure! I know I was warned.... don't think the echo would have made it today!!
thank you Spruce Mooses for the cache, I enjoyed doing it.

After re reading the description, I realised just where to park. My GPS was taking me all over the place including down roads that didn't exist.
Once I had parked this was a nice little stretch of the legs to GZ where all sorts of goodies awaited me.

found with stooy. what a magical place. but we didnt find any candy. thank you for a awesome cache.
Overcast and the sun had already set by the time we turned onto Mt Charlie Rd. Kidney stealing creatures seemed to be lurking behide every tree! Then we actually discovered a hippie camping nearby! Arrrrh!
I am sure he was just as confused seeing us froliking in the dark forest LOL
Finally we reached GZ, "Go inside the Candy Mountain cave stooy" I didn't see any creepy dancing letters so I ventured into the freaking cave.... so black in here....

Found this one after working in hesket down the road. Makes it hard when signal strength is weak! Found it in the end.

Found this one on the second attempt. After the gps went awol, ( actually we got scared we could lose a kidney or two ) So we summoned up the courage to conquer candy mountain without any major operations being performed ! TFTC
It's always a breath of fresh air to step out of the car on a forested hillside somewhere and walk straight to a nice sized cache. This was the first one of the day in an area that we've never explored before. Heaps of wildlife, plants to try and name and a great display of (appropriately) pink Hyacinth orchids made this walk a pleasure.
TNLN.
Cheers Spruce Mooses, thanks for an excellent start to the day.

Quick find today before partaking in SamCarters multi up the road.
Don't underestimate your caches SpruceMooses, there's no such thing as a small Ammo box.
A nicely themed cache in beautiful surroundings, nice work.

We needed a longer walk after several short efforts today... This wander was made to order.... Found Bob the Builder, dipped him through to move on again.
The rope bridge was an effort but I made it too Candy Mountain. Unfortunately without the help of the Liopleurodaon. I think the trail bikes in the forest drove him away. Anyway, Candy Mountain really does exist, but there were no dancing letters, thankfully. I managed to get away without losing my kidneys but I left a teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle behind instead. Took a whoopee cushion though.
Thank you Spruce Mooses for the cache and the the sound of an adolescent unicorn in my head all day, whining "Charleee, Charleee, Charleee, come to Candy Mountain Charleee..." .

Our friends have just moved to Romsey and we made an afternoon of Geocaching the local area, this was the third one for the day. Found at 4:20pm, took watch, and left two native hunters. We did a bit of bushwalking to get there and walked in circles for a while before the GPS locked onto the satellites. Now I know I’m the Banana King with bananas in my ears.
Found this one whilst out on a hike up Mt Charlie with some Scouts.
Light drizzle didn't take anything away from the enjoyment of the hunt, even if cloud cover was throwing co-ords off a little.
Just so happened I had a TB in my bag, so dropped Bob the Builder off there, but didn't take anything.
SL. TFTC!

17th Essendon Scouts found this cache again, but with a mostly different bunch of kids, and in the company of another troop (they know who they are). The GPSrs were pointing all over the place amongst the trees in the overcast weather, which meant that a few of us who'd found it before could sit back and smirk a little (and, in one case, create a completely misleading diversion -- thanks JB!). The cache was found eventually and stickers and the disco ball were swapped for a matchbox car and a pen. TFTC.

What a fascinating video you have found
A great drive down the suggested road was no problems and the parking spot was soon in sight. A 250m stroll also as suggested was easy and the cache was easily found right at GZ.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks Spruce Mooses. You sure have some weird tastes, but the sistema in an ammo can was a great ending to an interesting cache.

Grrr, I watched the YouTube clip a couple of days before setting out on this cache, and it's still going through my head! Set out to find the cache late one evening, and turned it into a drive-by. Was hoping to get to the summit of the hill, but a lack of daylight prevented me from achieving this.
The well stocked container was uncovered at 11:25pm after a bit of a search, as Old Yella the eTrex had decided that it'd had enough for the evening, and was choosing to ignore as many satellites as possible!
TNLN. Thanks! Another find for the Well Rounded Cacher competition, too!

ammo container cache with lots of goodies. The ammo can is starting to rust a inside but the cache is double lined so cache contents fine.
Thanks for a nice cache Shelly and Dave, always love an ammo can and some nice bush.

Great spot! Found cache, but forgot to bring a switch! Might come back a different time to switch a trinket...
Can't say we say any magical Liopleurodons, or even any plain Liopleurodons. But we did find a cache (much better).
Nice bit of bush.

Didn't need to walk today. Drove right up to it in fact but a nice spot and a great sized cache. Particularly like the crystal with the fine carvings or etchings inside but we left it there. No swaps anywhere near similar!
Thanks Spruce Mooses. Another spot I'd never have been to without caching!

I watched the video when the cache was listed, I think I was expecting more of a pay off after such a big build up, but I think I enjoyed it regardless! The recommended road for a 2wd worked a treat, I was able to park quite close without any dramas. The cache location and the video only made sense once I parked, I guess I should have payed more attention when reading the description!

We love these forest caches and with the high wind moving the trees around this was a great spot.
No problems for the 2WD today
Took nothing
Left animal critter to enjoy the forest. (Sorry, no unicorns) Our niece loves them.
Our thanks to Spruce Mooses for a wonderful finish to our day.

Took some funny little roads into this one as I thought I'd do this one using GPS only, no road maps. The drive in was great with some great castles( yes castles, some people build some great houses out here) seen along the way.

We arrived near here last night but as it was very late we found ourselves a suitable camping area, went to sleep under the beautiful starry sky. During our slumber things changed and we awake to light drizzle with very heavy fog. It seems to be a pattern for us. After a leisurely breakfast we headed off to find the cache. As we got to within 60 meters of the cache the satellite gods decided it was time to play tricks on us and turned off all but one satellite. We found ourselves a clearing and placed the gps there and let it settle for about 10 minutes. It was now telling us that the cache was 30 meters behind us and off we headed. This time it was telling the truth and the well stocked cache was soon in hand. Had no unicorns with us so made no swaps. We will have to watch the video when we get home
Thanks spruce mooses for the cache

Managed to find the way from Mt Teneriffe easily enough, and then started walking along the wrong track to gz! Once there the gps was all over the place and on the wrong side of the track. A check of likely spots proved fruitful and the nice hiding spot was admired. Its not quite like the quirky but fun video! No unicorns were seen but a nearby koala announced its presence as the log was signed. thanks Spruce Mosses for the cache and entertainment.
Lived in area for 17 years and didnt know walking tracks were there.

Found by Mary & David at 1140. Just loved the little back roads while trying to ignore TomTom, who kept trying to lead us down No Through Roads. Enjoyed the walk very much. The sound of the strong wind in the trees was like surf pounding a beach. We were a bit lacking in the unicorn department, so TNLN. Our thanks to Spruce Mooses. Haven't seen the video yet.

On a warm and sunny day, the drive in was great with some nice views on the way. Once at the recommended parking spot it was an easy walk to GZ. The cache took a little longer to find as I spent some time searching a nearby spot before moving onto the correct location and then the cache was an easy find.
Took Nothing
Left A unicorn pink "Keeper of Time"
Also picked up geocoin Happy Humphery
Another very nice cache, thanks Spruce Mooses

We didn't have too much trouble with Mt Charlie Road. Although it is a dirt road it is in good repair.
Spent some time @ GZ as the hiding place was not immediately obvious from where we chose to start our search.

Found at 11.45am GAFF1. The little kids we had with us just loved pouring over the cache contents, but we didn't have anything good enough to swap - they learned a valuable but painful lesson! Thanks Spruce Mooses - nice spot around here. tn/ln
Well...I watched the very annoyingly wierd video and I can see the connection between Charlie and Candy Mountain. I have to say the little song in the video was catchy. Anyway, with GPS in the hands of young Master Riddell we set off from the suggested parking on Eatons Rd. I think i'm getting an eye for where to hide caches, because Master Riddell kept walking passed GZ saying the cache was some 10 metres beyond the actual hide while I was busy uncovering the cache. We wish we had a suitable swap for the cache as there are some nice goodies in the box.

I enjoyed the short walk down to GZ - its a lovely area. My GPS pointed to one likely spot, but after a thorough search I expanded the zone and found it close by. No swap was made. Thanks for the showing me the area and for the cache.
Yes, I found it & loved the unicorn theme. Still waiting on that chocolate frog from Micaparamedic ! Candy Mountain -a great place.
Unfortunately this has cost me a chocolate frog, Willowvale found it but not where I said it would be.
This cache arrived at just the right time and in just the right location for a Scout activity I was involved with nearby this weekend. Of course, most of the Scouts who were with me knew about the "Candy Mountain" YouTube clip, and could quote "Chaaarliiiiieeee" and "Shun the unbelievers" in a manner similar to my tendency to quote Monty Python or Hitchhikers' Guide ... but I am training them in the latter, while I can thank this cache for helping me understand the former (rather amusing, in a surreal way) ... and thus we try to bridge the generation gap! A lack of unicorns in my caching swaps meant that I TNLN, but it was a nicely stocked cache (I had "green alligators, and long-necked geese, humpty backed camels and chimpanzees, cats and rats and elephants as sure as you're born, but you ain't gonna see no unicorn"). TFTC. ......... Light bulb ... it has just occurred to me: I presume the link between the location and the unicorn's name was intentional?! [If so, you'll be pleased to know I "got there eventually". If not, it is a very happy coincidence.]
A nicely stocked cache that we found as we hiked around the base of Mt Charlie. We had no unicorns for swapping, however. TFTC.
Find # 1682 and 3rd of the day at 7:50am. Accompanied by Feathertop on our weekly caching trip. It was very cold and wet here this time of the morning. TNLN, Signed Log, Thanx Spruce Mooses....

I found your cache today with Oenze. As Romax did we went in the wet feet way and exited the dry track. It just shows some cachers never learn from other's mistakes. A nice easy find ina nice bushy part of the ranges. TNLN thanks spruce mooses.
Arrrggg! The nightmares of Charlie in the kids bedroom every night, Now a cache to drive us up the Decaffinated Coffee Path. (now i can't get it out of my head, again.)

Found by Roma and Max.
What better to do when an appointment has been cancelled than to head off down to Sunbury to see our new grandson, and call in here on the way.
We took the cache notes advice as to the best route to take when approaching GZ, but even then bush bashing the last couple of 100 meters was a mistake, as there was a lot of water running through the gully from the inclement weather of the last few days. If we had to start again we would certainly stay on the track.
Even the satellites were unkind to us today and it took a while for our signal to settle sufficiently to make our find.
Not having anything to match the cache theme we left one of our Mondo Figurines and took the FTF Trophy!
Thanks Spruce Mooses for this cache, and the experience, however the jury is out about that video clip!
