Logs
The container and original logbook have seen better days but it's good to see the cache guardian is still here. Thanks d.d.dudes
TFTC! Was a bit of a walk for us in the sun, but of course was worth it for the log! Nice bush land )
I was caching solo today so it was the perfect time for a quick flat walk into the wild. The only thing I heard was a golfer swearing so clearly the ball was driven right down the middle of the fairway.
The trail started getting thinner but still not an incline in sight. I was counting right down to zero metres and the cache was spotted.
I picked it up only for my biceps to let me know they were working. The cache felt very very heavy, which I suppose is how an ammo can is meant to feel like when it is full of water. Thankfully I didn’t tip it on myself but then watched as the lid fell off. Maybe a bit of blu-tack and spit is required but the log has somehow survived submerged in its plastic bag. tftc

After the lovely bushwalk down this trail (and seeing a monitor lizard along the way!) It was a nice short search at GZ before the cache was located! The name makes sense once you open the cache! Thanks for bringing me out here d.d.dudes!

D 2.0 T 3.0 Regular Traditional Cache
Thanks for the cache and taking us here d.d.dudes. Parking at your suggested coords was a bit scary, I thought my car will roll over! I always think of the worst case scenario, especially when caching alone.
Nice easy walk beside the golf course. Overshot the gz by 12 m. Big surprise to see the cache because I was already thinking T3 - do I have to climb? Again, me, making everything difficult!

d.d.dudes I found your cache 6 Guardians around the Mousehouse on 1/8/2022, 1:40 pm. This is my find 3883 and find # 10 today. No problems locating this cache. Just the last bit was a bit of a bush bash. Amazing the container is still standing upright. Starting to get rusty, difficult to open, but managed and sign the log. Quite peaceful here, every now and then a plane flys overhead. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Started walking in and met the sign (see photo).
Disappointed but I don’t want to get shot etc!

I needed to stretch the geolegs again today, and this cache looked like the one to do just that. Track was good, and only lost it 50 metres from the cache. Very happy with that.
It is not often you come across a cache out in the open, but this one would be difficult for any muggle to see it. With that mighty mouse guarding it, I am sure it will be safe. Thanks for the nice walk. Take a Favourite Point.

What a location! Phraaw!
I've often pondered this cache and the last warrior on my map. Two adventures outstanding, that is until now.
A handful of days back saw me tackling the backside of coolum before laying it on front and topside as well for the earthcache.
After that saw me pedalling the tredley down the david low way and conveniently spied a national park boundary pole.
Shuffled the bike under and i managed to still overshoot the entrance a ways.
Common sense drew me back and in and not long later was parking the geosteed not thirty odd metres away. Could a pushed further, but with such a beautiful location, i parked up and slowly tred the rest of the way to gz. Which i found hilariously totally uncovered on display in the namesake. But hey who would come all the way out here in the middle of nowhere but us mad cachers.
I loved the tannin stained waterway nearby, reminded me of my walk in the south south west of tassie in the beginning of last year.
This is an easy favourite. How is there not more. Criminal!
Thank you so much d.d.dudes for hiding caches in so many cool locations so long ago.

After an all-terrain CITO to get the day underway, 1MinniMoo and I nicked off to the Sunny Coast to find mostly older caches - like this one. After a drenching at the last one, we drove over here, the rain cleared, and we had a lovely little walk out here along the tracks in the fresh sunshine to mostly dry out again. A bit of wildlife along the way to entertain us - Kangaroo, cockatoos, golfers, mozzies, rodent ... mostly annoying things really, but the cache was lovely, and exactly as described.
Thanks d.d.dudes for entertaining me at this location.

6/3/21 Find #4628
Having attended a CITO to start the day, the rest of the day was planned out relatively meticulously Pprime style. The goal was to grab some older caches around the Sunshine Coast.
We parked the car and made our peaceful journey in here, past the golfers (that was a surprise when we heard the first golf ball being sliced!) and animal tracking device and around. At GZ a quick find was made. It wasn’t until we landed our hands on the cache than we got attacked by the Mosquito Plague! This came just after our previous cache where we’d been attacked by wasps. This really wasn’t our day for flying insects. Cache replaced, we didn’t hang around to get a full transfusion. Back past the golfers, where I spied a nice large kangaroo grazing on the edge of the course, and back to the awaiting geovehicle.
Thanks for the cache d.d.dudes.

Made a spontaneous decision to go night caching at 9:30pm with my old school friend while up visiting my home town.
Definitely a bit scarier than I thought walking through the bush at that time! Saw a snake along the way, but eventually made it to the cache without too much trouble, had a good laugh. We did get a bit lost trying to get back though but that’s on us.
Was fiddling around yanking it open when my friend pointed out the very large spider and all her babies sitting on the underside. I managed to get the lid closed again and placed back but was too terrified of the spider and worried I would squish her so it’s placed a little uncovered sorry! It wasn’t super covered when I found it though and I assume not many people come in this way although I did say a hello to the wildlife camera. I hope the next person is a little more brave. Thanks for the clever cache and adventure!

Tftc. The pen did not work and the cache did not open with ease but the mouse was cool and the walk was great.
This is one of the best caches I’ve done in a while. Why?
Cause it was a beautiful area to walk through.
The cache was easily found as the name matched beautifully. Once near GZ the area to be explored was easily identified.
It’s an ammo tin.
And the mouse is so cute. So cute I had a chuckle.
Thank you.
I was lucky I bought hubby along though as it was too hard for me to open so I had to get hubby to use his muscles.

Nice cool breeze today after hoy weather. Cache found from hint. Lid had to get off needs wd40
Tftc this one was a little New Year’s Day walk and it was worth it! Please take note of the mozzie comments, they are accurate. The little biters are in force and didn’t seem to care about insect repellent. Note that on the mound next to the guardians some quite angry ants have made a home so suggest moving straight in to the cache - don’t stand around! What a great start to the year and loved the cache decoration
Great walk surprised this cache has not been found for eight months. My coordinates were spot on. Pleased to find this one. TFTC
Dropped geowife off at Curlys for coffee while I drove back to the main road and parked up opposite the fire trail into the bush. Had a lovely walk apart from the mozzies and soon arrived at GZ. For me, the coords were absolutely spot on and the cache was quickly in hand. TFTC d.d.dudes
Took my MTB for a spin to ride to this cache. Yes the logs placed across he track were painful but I understand they might be there to deter trail bikes. Cache found in good condition. Thanks for the ride! Dicky P
Up visiting the Sunshine Coast for work and called in this afternoon as the sun was beginning to set. With the mozzies starting to swarm I quickly made my way along the fire trail and located the right path to turn off onto. I knew I was on the right track as I avoided the fallen trees previously mentioned and followed it all the way to GZ. The cache was located safe and well and I managed to make it back to the car before darkness fell. TFTC
We needed a cache name beginning with a '6' for our numerical and alphabetical list of cache names. I queried on facebook if anyone knew of a cache beginning with the number six and was told about this cache. Well, only about a 2 hour drive from home and I have our youngest daughter's family up here and with a new baby as well. So it was an easy decision to come up and find this one. It was pretty hot in the middle of the day but a lovely level walk anyway with part of it in shade. We manoevred around the tree limbs that have been placed to discourage access and it wasn't long before we were very close. Having seen no one else around at all we were surprised to see two figures just visible in the bush ahead of us and were just leaving GZ. It was nice to meet you Spiderweb4. And thanks for a great cache d.d.dudes. We found it in good condition. We enjoyed visiting the mouse and his house. Left: pathtag. [^][^]
We had a gap between our teenage taxi service duties and decided to have a go at this one since last time we stopped the park was closed.
It was not the best time of day being quite hot in the midday sun. We followed the main firebreak trail admiring the water lillies in the bordering moat, missing the well hidden minor track we should have taken. Once the distance to gz started to increase, we realised we needed to turn. I headed straight into the scrub following the arrow, dodging little burnt scratchy branches here and there. J backtracked and found the other track going the longer but more pleasant way round.
After some false alarms with clumps of 6, I finally found the right one with the mouse well guarded. Took thong, left blue gem ring.
After a couple of cooees, J found me at gz and once signing and swapping was taken care of, we were on our way. Just beyond gz, we heard voices and 3 bushwalkers emerged from the scrub on a similar hunt. We had a brief chat with AussieLiahona (nice to meet you!) and Monkey145... and gestured in the direction of the cache. We followed the "track" on the way back - quite a bit less scratchy, but with lots of obstacles to deter walkers. Why do they not want people to walk in here? We admired lots of pretty little wildflowers and an inquisitive fairy wren. Lots of snake trails around kept us on the look out.

I had noted that this cache had not been turned into a smiley and decided today would be the day.
I parked the vehicle at the approximate coordinates as advised in the listing and started to head down a nice open flat track.
When a deviation was required to be made, an appropriate track was identified however this was the track identified in previous logs as having been blocked. This is still the case and whilst it was a minor annoyance, it was not a problem to deviate around them.
It was not that much longer that we at GZ. The cache was soon spotted, log signed and everything returned as found.
It was a pleasant walk in and out of the park.

Had my eye on this one for a while as I needed to find a cache starting with 6 to complete my AlphaNumeric Cache Name Challenge, So yes a Happy Dance was done when I found this cache .
I had waited a till winter as a log said something about crossing water and boggy. When I thought it was dry enough spiderwebbs4 posted that the park was closed ( thanks ) then sweet-sour posted that it was to reopen this week (thanks).
So today I set off to locate this cache that hadn't been found for 10 months praying it was still there.
I parked near the gate and headed in simple enough, then made a turn in when I thought time was right, seems I picked the right spot as I seemed to be following a old track that national parks were trying hard to cover and revegetate, a bit of ducking and weaving to the GZ and then the cache was found . Complete with a guardian !
What great containers these are - all the contents were Dry , signed the logbook 10am and replaced all as found.
Then retraced my steps back out to the main track and then back to the Geomobile on the main road.
d.d. dudes - TFTC.
And a fav point Too !!

Fairy Mother and I arrived at the parking co-ords to find the SES and a Ranger had set up camp at the gate. They were in the process of finalising the pest and rodent clean up, they were expecting the trail to be open later this afternoon.
We parked at the recommended spot after a few 3 point turns further down the road and changed into walking shoes, looking forward to this stroll in the national park.
Got inside the gate and were confronted with a DANGER sign stating that the area was closed due to pest control in progress including firearms, poisons, etc.
This explains why no-one has found this cache in such a long time. Hopefully this note will stop others wasting time stopping until the park is reopened.

Long time visitor to the area glad to pin this one down , raced Mary Poppins to gz but he was lost on his magic umbrella but eventually jjjlmj turned up great cache
Booyah Found it!
Woah that was an awesome adventure! How does this cache only have 3 favourite points????!! It deserves many more!
I read a couple of the logs prior to starting off and I thought to myself "why is everyone scared of getting lost?" I figured it was easy enough. Like Minkos Des, I also checked the satellite view and it looked simple enough.. walk straight and take a left about half way. ..And reading a couple more logs I thought "and I'll need to make sure I go past or over a stream first to avoid having to go for a swim.
Ok Did those things.. only issue i had was I have a dodgy iphone battery which decides at any moment it will die. It could die at 50% or it could last for several hours on 1%. It can't be trusted and I've been going for a few hours now and it "says" 10% I didn't know where I would end up today so I didn't download any extra mapping onto my GPS before heading out. I could go out ( I was by myself) and not find my way back, or hurt myself or get bitten by a snake and not be able to call for help. I'm slightly nervous about this one!
So I found where I thought the correct turn off should be and plenty of evidence to prove others had been here.. but then the trail just stops! and there are trees which have been massacred all over the ground possibly on the trail.
Should I go back to the car or keep going and maybe get really lost??! 365 metres to the cache and the description says no bush bashing until last 10 meters. . but it is a 7 year old cache.
I choose to keep going and eventually I find my track!
I was really worried however and kept marking arrows in the sand as I went to show which way I came from.
And then I got to the last 10 metre "bush bash" not too bad except for the fact that I was headed the wrong way..
out of the corner of my eye I spotted the guardians and not too long after that...
BOOYAH FOUND IT!
I laughed when I found it.. not what I was expecting!
and as I was signing the log.. the gigantic killer ants came out to eat me.. I thought they were going to be the end of me they hurt so bad (still have welts on my legs as I write this)
Getting back was so easy I don't know what I was worried about!
Thanks so much for this excellent adventure d.d.dudes and I'll be recommending this to more people!

Loved the bush bash on the way in though the boys were a tad concerned we might not find our way out!!! Very clever mouse house!
I had tried to access this cache the day before (Sat, 14.6) but I was in work clothes and the rain from the night before had everything dripping wet so unfortunately I would have to postpone... Until today!
So I started out with a little research by checking out the satellite imagery to find the best route in which did pay off to some extent. It did get me parallel to the cache with ease but on the wrong side of the shallow river. As there had been rain the day before the river was running... This was fine as it was only ankle deep, it was just I was being precious as I didn't want to get my shoes wet. I could see where others had crossed when the river is low. So I ventured a little further up and found a log that I could walk along partially then pick-up, move forward then walk across repeating until I got to the other side.
Once I got to the other side I thought 'Wow, that actually worked!'. I was so chuffed about what I had somehow just managed to execute that I stepped one foot off my makeshift bridge onto what I thought was ground for it to be sphagnum moss and went ankle deep into the water! '****!'.
Once on the other side it was only a quick stroll to GZ where I easily found the home of the mice and had a chuckle at the one that had made the cache his home.
There really is something about finding a cache that has not been visited in a while that is different from the average find... I don't know what it was, but there not being a visiter to this cache in 5 months had an odd feeling of satisfaction.
Another awesome thing about this cache was that people actually wrote logs in this log book... Not just the average signature and TFTC but actual sentences which was refreshing.
Thanks for another great cache 'd.d.dudes' and I'm going to chuck a Fav Point your way. The cache is in good order and still water tight.

Definitely recommend doing this cache.
Thanks for another good cache dd dudes. Sorry for the short log-trying to catch up.

FWF. Got way lost. Ended up doing 400m of bushbashing. Watchout for the "Red Bellies".
After reading previous logs, I knew to look out for a path that was covered in trees, unfortunately Mr Parko had different ideas and took us on a wild goose chase [B)]
We always manage to do things the hard way, and today was no exception
We finally found the correct path after bush bashing way too long and found the beast. Had to laugh when we seen it. Quite the adventure we had getting here but it was certainly worth it. Getting back out was much easier. Thanks d.d.dudes

Having just climbed the nearby hill, Nyssaflutterby and I decided this nearby cache would be a good one to tackle next, the approach looked flat at least. So after a driveby of the parking co-ords and a U-turn I had the car neatly parked next to the gate and we set off.
We chatted as we walked, watching wildlife as we went, birds in the trees, the creek flowing past, all was quite nice in the peace of this patch of bush. We had seen a plume of smoke from the top of Mt Coolum and we ended up walking past it, just the golf course burning off some garden bits. I should have read previous logs as we chose to walk as close as possible before going bush. However, this led us past a nice looking path and as it turned out, also had to double back. With the aid of satellite view, things looked good though.
Said track looks to be out of service as the rangers have plonked rows of cut down trees across it, but it barely slowed us up as we motored through the trees and beside the drain. No big issues for us and we were soon close. A bit of a look about and Nyssa spied the cache. Ah, excellent, love the little laugh that comes with it. All good condition inside and now with our names.
Now just for the walk back to the car, which was pretty exciting due to a phone call regarding some boys in blue, a concerned citizen and my car, but all was good. A fun little bush trip for a fun cache. Always love your work d.d.dudes, TFTC

Out and about with Captain Terror to find a few caches and climb a couple of mountains. After we had found the new Earthcache that was close by, we noticed this one and decided to give it a go. I was just happy to give my bottom a break from climbing anymore stairs
The Captain parked the Rolla in a nice orderly fashion and off we set. We wandered past the phone tower and noticed the fire that we had seen from the top of Mount Coolum, it seemed that the golf course were just doing a bit of burning off and nothing to cause alarm. We kept on walking until we realized we had gone the wrong way and were now getting further and further away from the cache Back we went. While we strolled back I had a quick check with satellite maps. Hmmm, so that's where we went wrong, missed the track.
We were soon back at the start of the track and I wasn't surprised that we had missed it! It looks like the rangers have laid out a lot of dead trees to cover up the old road. So that was that, back on our mission to find that mouse. A lot of ducking and weaving then followed to get around the bushy, overgrown area. We finally arrived close to GZ and it wasn't long until the cache was spotted and the funny container in hand. Signed and replaced the cache.

Found it after heavy rain, shoulda worn gumboots lol but great early morning walk with the sounds of the bush. Tftc
Nice avo walk through the bush. Used main track then headed straight to gz. Other tracks were very wet. Pens all run out no spare one to replace, sorry. Took horse stickers for geo-kids. Great cache, thanks.
Went the wrong way to start with and went for 300m bush bashing. Found the correct trail on the way home. Tftc
Nice walk. Surprised to see so much sand. Golf muggles spotted geowife snapping some pics of lily pads. Almost missed the track but recent posts confirmed suspicion. Bit of a bush bash over the dead trees but a quick find nonetheless. Evidence we were on the right track (see pic). Nice spot. TFTC.
Nearly missed the track as there are many dead trees blocking the start but we kept going and quickly found the cache with Ainstar and scottymyth.

Found with membsec and Ainstar. Track turnoff was blocked with dead trees. This lasted for 100m. Persevere and the cache will be yours. TFTC
I decided I needed a long walk to help heal the loss of an 14 year old animal friend. Off I went and I had to backtrack to find the correct path in. There was lots of birds, but no other animals were seen not even a mouse. It was too cold for them. TNLNSL TFTC Thanks d.d.dudes
It may have six guardians but there are lots of soldier ants protecting it!
Nice walk, A little bush bash with a few trees over the track at one part. TFTC.
I wanted to do Mt Coolum for my 1000'th GC find, but it was closed for repairs to the track.
So a very pleasant walk in here made a fine substitute.
Track in was found easily enough, and then the second southerly track was found, but for the first 50-odd metres it is covered by trees. Why? Are QNP trying to stop access up here to parks, as they are in NSW??
Anyway, blocked section was bypassed and I wandered on until finding the Mousehouse.
And out back again. Hey 1000!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!

The Mighty power walk was well worth while. Was difficult as the trees have been cut down and left across the track.. WHY?
Finally Meeting the mouse and the gaurdians.Oh and the chef spider. Yukky big thing.

After getting lost and bush bashing for 300 mts, finally picked up track again.
Water up to my knees made it an experience.
Found cache but no mice but I did see 2 big goannas on the track in.
Track out has been covered with chopped down trees.

We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one of the mice.Very lucky to see them in these surroundings.
First find with my new dual xgps cradle yay! Loved the walk. Cache was cute too. Thanks.
Probably not the best cache to go find while its been teeming with rain. Like others, I iniitally went past the entrance path. When I went past the path, I remember thinking "thank God the cache isnt down there" - it was like a creek. And apparently thats where I had to go I initially picked my way through the bush along the path to keep my footsies dry. After about 150m or so - the water wasn't so bad. I did encouter a tree snake that scared the honk out of me - but he was equally as scared.
I made my way to GZ - picking through puddles and finally reached the cache. I found it immediately. Very clever container indeed The cache was in excellent condition - as one has come to expect with ammo boxes. An enjoyable little walk through a bit of bushland that I have been "meaning to stop" at over the years. TFTC d.d.dudes

It was great weather for a walk through this area today, overcast and not too warm. We originally took a wrong turnoff and ended up walking further than suggested but found the right track after returning to the main trail and continue on further. Parts of the walk brought back memories of the Great Ocean Walk in Victoria. Picked up the TB and GCA cache to move on. Thanks d.d.dudes.
Got this one after spending a couple of hours looking for a dry track to gz after a heap of rain. In the end we were pushing the geopram through about 150mm of water at one stage & he loved it. Janine wandered off the track close to gz without the gizmo and came up with the prize - and i thought she was scared of mice! Left Boomerang "V" travelling cache and Colorado TB. Thanks d.d.dudes
Quite a walk. Lots of bird life along the way. Easy find once nearby. Took shark, left crocodile keyring. TFTC
Was fun.. other then we got there in the dark and had to run half the way back. haha
go during the day!!
go during the day!!
Mid afternoon on the Sunshine Coast and I had had enough of the crowds along the beaches [:o]
I had let half a dozen caches go unlooked for so far.
Time to head inland a bit I thought
A look at the map revealled this little cheesy treat hiding in a little visited bit of bushland
After testing the suspension of the geomobile to it's limits getting into the parking spot I set off into the sandy surrounds of the park.
So pleasant today
Hardly a mozzie to be seen or felt.
Not much wildlife around mid afternoon though, but nearer to sunset I'm sure the birdlife would be everywhere.
Just 15 minutes later I wandered off the trail and spotted the mouse's hidey hole from several metres away
Keeping quiet, I managed to catch the little critter at home
TFTC and stroll, I took the Popper Travel Bug.
There's a lot of old bottles, bits of iron and even the rear differentials of an old truck lying around in the scrub close to GZ.

Went at 7.00 am and it was a bird watchers paradise. Lovely walk, easy find. Nice one d.d. dudes. Left Popper TB and took Latitudes TB.
Found the six guardians quickly enough after a nice early evening stroll to GZ. We waited quietly for a while hoping to catch a glimpse of the wild mice. After a while we were rewarded with a sighting of one large individual who hung around at GZ for quite some time. Excellent. TFTC.
TomTom was no help finding access to the path that led to this cache. After some trial and error we were on our way.

Found it this afternoon. Really nice location! There was a 7th guardian on the mouse house, see picture (Spoiler) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3435/3845205414_e993fed4b9.jpg (/Spoiler)

Whoops! Missed the turn in the track and ended up walking right through the National Park. Finally discovered the error of our ways and headed in the right direction.
Once we had that sorted out the 6 guardians were soon found along with the most unusual mouse.
TN Left an expensive golf ball found on the walk in and Blingg's Compass TB.
Really enjoyed the walk on a beautiful winter's day. TFTC

1130hrs. A nice day for a walk. Good to finally be able to do caches that had been out of reach. Unusual to find a mouse of that species here. TFTCSL
Went to this one when a brake in the rain .Took my 6yr old son.Saw a couple of big kangaroos and a lot of small birds.got to it just on dark.A big adventure for my son to walk out in the dark. Took soft toy fish and pack of cards and fire safe Geo coin to move on. left sudoka puzzle book, stubbie holder and mouse trap(ha ha).All contents dry .
What a nice walk to gz and a simple find, I don't know why more people haven't found this cache. I would be one on my favourites list for sure........
Took twwo TB's and left Firesafe Geocoin hope it dosn't stay here to long.....

Some might say this species of mouse could be the scourge of modern man. Whilst not commonly found in the wild, they seem to have taken up residence in many human homes. Thanks for the walk in. Left Unite Diabetes TB and Joy-Riders TB. TFTC
Once we found the offshoot track to the cache we were fine. Caught a glimpse of the mouse straight away, cute little thing, but I can see why some wouldn't think so.
Left a golfball that we found on the way in.

538 Lovely walk to the guardians. The mouse is certainly not shy, actually this species is found in most countries around the world. In their natural habitat, without preditors, you can expect to find a whole colony - but some certainly do not like them. TFTC d.d.dudes

Nice early walk from accomodation not that far to the South but it is a little more than 600 m in from the road. Even through it was just after 6:00 am I came across 2 small snakes on the track in/out. One took off on a rush the other kept its ground as I walked around it.
