Interestingly, as we were leaving Ballina we picked up a French hippy hitchhiker named Clare. She was going to Rossport to a solidarity camp against Shell. Since we were heading in that direction anyway, we gave her a lift, and took the scenic route (where my partner stood on the very edge of a cliff and insisted that both me and Clare do the same, despite our misgivings), till we came to the tiny little village of Rossport. There we dropped her off at the bar and bid her farewell. We were glad to have met Clare and hope she found where she was going.

Afterwards, we went in search of the cache. Unlike the majority of our Irish holiday, this day was perfectly windless. The water was still and mirror-like; no person to be seen and nothing moved save some birds flying across the bay. It was serene and idyllic, absolutely beautiful. The Shell graffiti on the pier lent a sad touch to it all. Thank you for this cache.

A lovely stroll along the coast from the port. A nice easy find and lovely views of the beach. TFTC.

Nice easy find, despite a couple of curious muggles asking whether we were from the council. TFTC.

My wife wanted to go there to see the site. Its a most beautiful place and its sad that everything is sacrified for money.
Thank you for bringing me here.
Good luck for the protesters.

We spent a few days for hiking in this beautiful peace of earth. And when You open Your eyes and ears...You also hear this sad story about what happens here....
Money rules ...everything ...everywhere, although in the middle of nowhere.
The face of capitalismen is everywhere even the ugly side...
Thanks for showing this place and the information.
Greetings Frigo

Was a beautiful place once-upon-a-time. Three huge diggers ruined it for us today. But thanks for the cache and for reminding us of what has been lost.

Quick find and an interesting story. I was sorry that we couldn't find the Saro-Wiwa mural. I also lived in Nigeria and visited Ogoniland. The devastation has to be seen to be believed. Lovely spot, hopefully not to be spoiled. Thanks for bringing us here Smile

Found quickly with janey419. Great location for a cache. After signing the log and taking photos we went in search of the Ken Saro-Wiwa mural, but were disappointed at being unable to find it. Thanks, and favourite point added.

Found with Shrek etc. on a summer day, and another lovely place that should remain unspoiled by developments of the oil industry.
