This cache made me so excited ! I lived at the lake my entire childhood (my dad was Martin Williams the ranger who made this walking track). Its been over 15 years since I have walked this track and this time I took my husband and children with me. Talk about special Easy find. Wish I thought to take a pen and something special to leave behind

Back for another geoadventure around the sunny coast hinterland. This time I started in Ilkley and worked through Mooloolah, Maleny, Witta and Bellthorpe. Enjoyed the wander to GZ along this trail, plenty of birdlife about to spot. The hint didn't make me feel too good as there were a lot of trees about but fortunately it was a quick find for me. Thanks green team 2!

Fun day caching with Snickersallan to paddle Lake Baroon. We somehow missed this one on our first visit here. Snickersallan made a special trip here earlier, so it was an easy find when we got to gz.

Thanks for the cache and taking us here Green Team 2 adopted by WallabyWanderers.

17-Jul-22
Today, the plan was a kayak paddle on Lake Baroon to attend the *Leisurely Obi Obi Paddle* event. The weather turned out great (quite eerie in the morning), and we had a friendly group of 15 kayakers who paddled Lake Baroon and down Obi Obi Creek.
Following the event/paddle, I took a walk around Maleny before grabbing lunch at its award-winning bakery. I then spent the last few hours of my afternoon visiting a few oldies in the area and darting around a few lookout spots, before then returning home via Mount Mellum, Skippy Park, and Beerwah where I completed the *Beerwah.* Adventure Lab.

After being told that there would be a delay in launching due to event stragglers grabbing coffees, I decided to take a loop around this area first. It was a nice circuit as I followed the track in a clockwise direction, passing by views over the lake, and having regular signage describing the trees and animals in the area (a potential future Adventure Lab, perhaps?). My only fallacy was wearing thongs whilst walking/jogging this circuit, as there were a few muddy sections, of which my thongs didn't particularly like.

After arriving at GZ, I ducked under the trees, and soon uncovered the precious prize. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. It looks like this cache hasn't been found for some time, since 21/11/2021, as the last finder appeared to be missing from the logbook. Thanks Green Team 2 for the cache placement, and WallabyWanderers for its ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 08/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches.

A last minute decision to attend the Lake Obi Obi Paddle (L.O.O.P.) and paddle around the lake, I am now back on shore ready for some lunch.
A beautiful morning, a bit brisk but pleasant enough.
A group assault was made on finding this cache today, log signed as Team LOOP.

After a great paddle on Lake Baroon and down Obi Obi creek, we needed to get the legs going again so took a walk to find this cache.

It didn’t take too long to uncover this cache and we signed the log as Leisurely Obi Obi Paddle attendees.

What wonderful weather the day eventually gave us, after the heavy fog this morning (which almost cause me to drive straight into the lake!!). But that's another story.

This was another "group attack". Signed after the event under the name "LOOP", during which
Mrs RoddyC was doing her maiden voyage using our Yak.

Log signed and cache replaced as found on 17.7.2022. TFTC WallabyWanderers.

July is all about Challenges… thanks to the latest Georode Monthly challenge in Brisbane… it was totally coincidental, that I scheduled the Leisurely Obi Obi Paddle (LOOP) here today…

After finding all the water based caches, and before sitting down for some well deserved food we took care of this oldie…

A nice quick find before sliding our way back to the picnic area… log signed Leisurely Obi Obi Paddle attendees…

Whilst waiting for grannysmith1947 to arrive at the carpark, I surprisingly came across Karicka & Beardman78 who had been out paddling earlier. After a quick chat they were on their merry way to their next target.
It was a very pleasant walk around the loop then a nicely placed hide found which was easy for us to spot straight away.

A wonderful catch up with friends to paddle the dam. Can’t go past an old cache though, especially if it’s right there!

19-Sep-21
Miss the squelchy Baroon mud when finding this cache, you know the mud when you get out of the yak and immediately go past the ankle or slide down the slope toward the water. Or the other way to look at it is to take out the picnic blanket and see if it sticks to it.

Suppose to get the real muddy experience I'll need to return after a decent downpour. Thanks to the Green Team and WW for keeping this oldie active.

After a lovely morning paddle with Triple Turmoil, chamad, NayFee and dahumbug, those of us who hadn't yet found this cache headed along the walkway to make the find.
The walk was a little longer than we expected, but a good way to stretch out after a few hours on the water.
The cache was quickly found and after signing the log we headed back to our cars.
Thanks Green Team 2 and WallabyWanderers for placing and maintaining the cache.

15-Aug-21
After spending several hours on the water signing challenge caches with Willis007, TripleTurmoil and Chamad it was time to head back to dry land and continue our journey, but before we got any further we made our way down the nearby trail to grab this Q1000 cache.

We didn't anticipate the walk to be so long, but we thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Nice quick find once we arrived at GZ.

After a morning of kayak caching (first time for me) with friends, this was a "quick" walk to get this trad. The hill towards the end took us by surprise.

Out for a day paddle on lake Baroon collecting some challenge caches with Willis007, nayfee, triple turmoil and humbug; it was a nice time and a great place for a paddle. After the paddle and a pack up we decided to go for a short walk around to collect this one. It was a very nice walk around even if the cache was just there, lol.

We found the cache very easily and signed with all our names. We replaced as found and then continued on with our paddle. Thank you for placing this one here.

Today paddle was on Lake Baroon. I had 10 caches available to find today.
It was a great group to cache with. The good thing was my shoulder actually survive the 10 km paddle. I had pinch a muscle in my shoulder.

Today I found 9 and a dnf. But could only log 5. 4 I don’t qualify yet.
The break down was 4 mystery and a traditional.

Sorry for the generic log

Friday. We’d paid this cache several visits over the last couple of years and kept thinking that it might be here, but it was a case of cache blindness for us. Recently though, I was out on another caching trip in this area and caught up with the CO. Fast forward to today and the CO kindly met up with me at the parking area for this cache and we headed off along the trail next to the beautiful lake. Coming up to GZ, my trails from my previous search were still very obvious unfortunately, even though it was a couple of weeks ago. We did a pretty thorough search and looked for quite a while. He then produced his replacement cache and I was super happy to pop our name in the log. I managed to snaffle a path tag in the process. So glad we could turn this long time frown into a yellow smiley. A huge thank you to the CO for his kind offer to come with me to check on this cache and for fixing it up Smile. A FP fell out when signing the log for hearing a bit of the history of this cache and for the area this cache is placed in.

This was the only cache found on this outing.

Thanks ***WallabyWanderers*** for showing us this place Razz

No luck here today. We had a lot of GPS bounce - 15m over here, 23m back over there. Back and forth we went faithfully following our GPS. In the end we put it away and just methodically checked the base of every tree. Clearly we missed one.

Hello! Wonderful walk but rainy weather. Followed the navigation setting as best as I could, but the area is overgrown! Had a lot of fun regardless!

*Time to be a leader, a responsible cache owner, a thoughtful person regarding humanity.
Groundspeak or Geocaching HQ have been slow to be on the front foot regarding this matter so its left for us cachers to lead the way*

**"With discussions here about whether or not or it is okay to ignore closures etc to go caching, please let me offer some perspective.
Given the likely death toll from COVID-19 in the USA will be in 6 figures at least (that’s tens of thousands) and more likely in 7 (that’s millions) as well as in 8 figures worldwide (that’s tens of millions), not following restrictions designed to save lives is industrial grade selfish.
So our streaks may have to end.
And our physical caching may have to stop.
Hopefully not too many of our lives will end but some most definitely will. And I am certain around the world some of our caching family have already died.
COVID19 hangs around on surfaces so you don’t even have to physically be in the presence of someone who is positive. Just touching a surface (cache?) they have touched recently and then touching your face will do it.
I really really hope that a “Hail Mary” comes through and we get a vaccine in less than the expected 18 months. But until it is actually here being given to large numbers we are all at risk. And while older people are clearly more at risk young ones are dying too.
As I am sure some of you are wondering about my qualifications to offer this view, please check out my background. Not too hard if you have Google or another search engine. “Dr Bill Griggs” should do it.
Please stay as safe as you can people.
And please follow the rules designed to keep you and all of us safe.**

Cheers to Bill, aka Brad&Janet for the information.

Yours in Caching,
Corey aka dahumbug

It took a fair bit of bush bashing to get here and my legs are a little scratched up now. However I enjoyed the nature walk on the way - I saw a motley crew of black cockatoos gnawing the trees and a tree snake on the way here.

Took advantage of the very low water and cycled round the foreshore to just below the cache.
Then we found the nature trail. It was good we went the way we did as we saw a huge carpet python between the dam and the cache.

Headed out this way today for a picnic with geowife as we have never been out here before.

After lunch we made our way around the trail to GZ. With just a little bit of a search the cache was located. Log signed and put back in place.

This was a nice place to visit and we will be back some day soon with our kayaks.

Out doing some caching with Orange Crew, Dora the Explorer and IolantheK we headed to the dam after collecting all the targeted caches in the morning.

Both Dora the Explorer and IolantheK had previously found this cache so when we were near GZ, Orange Crew and I went in for the hunt.

It was not too long before the cache was in hand and after the signing duties had been completed the cache was replaced exactly as found.

All is good with this cache.

There are a few boxes on my DT grid that need topping up, and two of these happened to be located in this wonderful part of the world. So a cunning plan was hatched, and IolantheK CDAH55 and Dora joined me on the mountain today for a high DT jaunt.

On the way through to another nearby we grabbed this one. It took a little pushing to get through the lantana before CDAH55 finally found it.

Find #453

After an excruciating wait for some beautiful weather to coincide with my days off, they finally arrived. I decided to head to the dam and go for a lovely paddle for the day. And what a better way to end the day then grab a quick cache.

Utterly sore from my paddle, I headed off along the path towards where I thought I had to go... then it got to the point where I new I'd have to go bush, but the lantana had second thought on that!! Twisted I could see the cache quite easily but trying to get to it was another story, the path had become soo overgrown, and my flip flops weren't quite up for the job as I sprawled, tumbled and tripped my way to the cache.

I soon had the log in hand, thanks for the cache Green Team 2-- I have a feeling this one may get a few more visits soon. WinkWink
