An interesting feature in the middle of nowhere, it's amazing what geocaches lead you to! Spotted the cache as I walked towards it - signed log, TFTC
This cache was another of the prime missions of the day - I needed to find a cache more than 5 years old to satisfy a challenge cache requirement. This cache was one of the closest ones to my home. Like to the 2 previous loggers, I found the marker but not the cache. As I understood that the CO is no longer 'in the game', I left a MICRO container (with a couple of pieces of paper) at the marker for others to sign. 10/10 caches found on Today's Asburton raid.
I agree with the previous cacher. Found the marker, really interesting, I hadn't seen one before and you could see where the cache should be but.....
I'm logging it, I could see where it should have been, but it wasn't there. Number 7 was still there, no shifting that.
Apt name. First time I've seen one of these markers (well, that I'm aware of). Nice easy find. TFTC SL
Drove past, but came back and found it.

When we visited the cache, we wondered what this was about. Know now....thanks
I was busy concentrating on the needle and the new house across the road when I looked in the general direction and saw what I thought must be my quest. Pulled over an sure enough after a short walk the log was signed, suprised to find a marker like this well off the road.
Thanks

Good to get back to caching after a wicked week or work. Exploring my new home locations.
This was a bit of a detour from The Planins Railway. Quiet spot. TFTC. Fogot to mention! - the cache was all very wet inside!

What the.... How did you stumble across this? Would never have known this was here. A lucky find indeed. TFTC
What a lonely little marker! Not even a plaque! We SL and left a .40cal bullet casing. TFTC
It helps to go to the correct coords and not the additional WP but we got there in the end. TFTC
Also Caching around the District. You would never know that a Railway came through here.Found quickly.TFTC
Quick find on the way back to Ash Vegas. Have had a great few days geocaching in the area. Thanks to all local cachers.
That marker left me gobsmacked. How the landscape has changed. Explains too the swings in the main road and the little straight tracks to no where. Good one, thanks.
nice easy find not too far from the beaten track - took an American quarter & left a 500 poker chip - TFTC
Wow thats interesting. How many other things like that do we drive past without realising? Too many! TFTC #1012
Amazing the little bits of history that are around us, if only we knew. Very interesting.

1st find for the day, quite easy. Unfortunately the rest of the day wasn't as easy. TFTC
Quite interesting history, now a line of trees. Cache exposed so have lightly covered it. #929
The GPS had lots of sat bars and I was parked directly opposite with the arrow and distance perfect - too cool. The kids didn't believe that a railway line used to be there. I took the last charm. May the luck run both ways. TFTC.
I am always keen to learn a little more about the local history in the area.
Many thanks
Many thanks
Had to park in the middle of the road as I couldn't see the edges, so thankfully a quick find.

How did you find that? Hmm - I wonder if Anoraks were involved?
A very quick find, as it was out in the open. We put the bit of railway iron over some bits of bark to cover it up a bit.
TNLN, Thanks.

Mile markers on highways are a Roman idea we think but the Romans never came this far.
Awesome bit of history.
You'll have to update the instructions for this one when the cache with no name YET gets named.
Cheers,
Moneydork.

No travel bug but I assume it was picked up be he who we followed around all afternoon. GPS according to the navigator was all over the place. Got to closest intersection and drove in every direction at least once and the correct road three times before the gps was handed over to the driver and suddenly worked fine.
Was rather wet and windy when we were here so didn't stop for long.

Blasted GPS decided to "do it's thing" and be completely useless! The Irish luck wasn't setting up...but soon prevailed with my find!
- Scratchie (Unfortunately the Irish luck stopped here!)
+ US Dollar Bill

An interesting spot amongst the trees. Found the item easily and the cache not long after. Onwards to the "Cache with no name" No swaps here today. Cheers!
An easy find in a historic spot one would certainly overlook while driving past - how did you find it!! I managed to find an old rail spike nearby, so I added it to the steelwork. Took a lucky charm - only two left now. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(924)
Found on a day out caching in Ashburton. Quick and easy with out a printout only had the coordinates. Left Frog Tb and took Dog tag coin.
Nice hide! Complete with rail. Noted the massive dairy conversion that has been undertaken over the road and on the way back we saw on the left an area that appears to be under development. This is the second of five caches we are now allowed to discover. Go Green Jeep racers TNLN TFTC SL

1584. Well the second to find this one. Spotted the likely place as we drove up and yes that was it. It was still only 8.05am and the frost was still on the ground. We left with a blue Kiwi Nomad jeep.
Thanks

Last FTF of the night, found at about 10:30pm. I'm impressed you found / spotted this marker, being that it's not the most obvious thing in that line of trees. A quick find thanks and swapping over TB's, putting in JK's Rally Racer from by the seaside and taking your lovely red racer. Thanks Team Chelmo.
Dropping in A jeep racer coin to beat the other locals! What a great "Lucky" Cache to start off in, catch me if you can
