# 3806. This was the first find for the day whilst out and about caching with Robmc. I found a pristine 400ml sistema container at head height in the tree with a virgin log book in it - does this mean I am first to find? TFTC Robmc
This series has been taking up prime positions around Sale for too long. Time for something new for the locals to do.
Thanks to all the cachers who have helped with maintenance of this series over the years.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 5489 Found after a much cooler morning trip around the area.
Nice and quiet and no muggles close by but a few along the pier further away.
Spotted some jumping fish in the water as well, and wished I had a rod and net handy.
Another great multi done and found to be in need of repair just like the previous finders said.
I had a spare container and log sheets, so I placed a temp cache where it looked like it would be safe.
Hopefully it will last until the CO's can return to maintain it
Thanks for the cache Robmc and brothersinfluence,

Definitely gone. I can replace it before I leave here in 3 days if the CO's would like.
Pretty sure I found the hide, but didn't find the cache itself - and since it's been a long time since anybody logged it as found, I'm guessing it's gone ..
Located gz but ended up with bloody nuckles trying to locate it. tried hard but no luck today.
While Mr X was working in the area I took the advantage of checking out a few in the area. Not having much luck with this Port of Sales Series. Just come from the Red Sails without much luck and this one had us beat as well. Picked up the clues fine and the maths are very basic but it lead us no where near any water. We still looked around the space we were given but then finally gave up. Loved this area here with the water and boats.
Thanks for bringing us here Robmc.
Thanks for bringing us here Robmc.
Found it!!! But it was a struggle. Considered getting a spanner but after much skinning of knuckles and gnashing of teeth the little sucker emerged. I have replaced it in same location but easier to negotiate, just in case Uri Gellar isn't the next geo-cacher to come along... Please please please replace it carefully....
I meant to log this one ages ago when I found it with WyldMan92 but I never did.
Meant to log this one ages ago, but forgot about it. TFTC.

The first underwater cache we have done.
Log is very very wet.
Thanks for the fun cache.
This one will need maintenance once the flood waters subside.

We 'think' we could feel it, but it wouldn't budge, even with small hands. Will keep a watch on this one and maybe have another go another day.
I got a call the day before from C@H about a new challenging cache in Sale. Well, as one up for a challenge, I was in and so we jumped in the trusty Pathy and headed east. With the hard cache out of the way, it was a short drive down the road and then a short walk to WP1. Once I got the required numbers the coords for GZ were worked out. I hunted around and couldn't see or feel the cache so C@H got his mirror out and there it was. It took us another 15 minutes, taking it in turns with a coathanger before we managed to pry the cache out. With scraped knuckles I signed the cache and it was off home. The magnet may be a bit too strong for this one. Thanks for the hide.
So found this just couldn't get it... We ended up taking photos of the place we suspected it was and sure enough it was there. Pushed up to high to even touch let alone get out.

Another sneaky one from Robmc. Multi? A bit of a problem to retrive it.but all was good. TFTH Robmc
Second time today Robmc has done this to me. I gathered the clues and found the cache, took some nimble fingers to get it out. A difficult cache to remove. TFTC
Woohoo finally got this sucker out. Will rehide hopefully easier to retrieve. Don't push it in to far. Tftc 11:35 AM

Thank God we finally got it, this was too hard. Found with hangfire7 and yannon. We have visited this cache many times to try and retrieve it. Log had not been signed since July last year.
More a case of 'could not sign' than a DNF. Couldn't locate all the info on the sign at suggested spot but collected last clue from a sign down the trail. Located cache, we could feel it but could not get it to budge. Tried for almost 20 minutes with various tools we had in the car but to no avail. The best we could do was flip the lid of the cache but with limited space to move we couldn't coax the log out.
Think this cache may be MIA. Certainly couldn't locate it and last couple of logs indicate likewise. If someone can confirm its still hidden will give it another try.
Did not find with HangFire7, I loved how this one used the port of Sale history. Maybe someone could check if its still there? Would love to give this another go.
1530 Initial reaction is that the clues are self-referential, but previous logs indicate not, so we must have made a blunder in collecting our information.
I've been trying to find this one for a while, but didn't want to log a DNF until I was sure I couldn't find it. If the cache is where I think it is, I can't see it anywhere when looking for it.
Cache is jammed against a ledge and with such a strong magnet cannot be moved - tried with various implements, but wouldn't budge. Unsure if this can be removed.
FlyingPigSquadron has landed but not retrieved - magnet is very strong and cache is jammed against a ledge. Could open lid, but nothing further.
Thanks for bringing to such an interesting spot and showing us some history

Having stayed just around the corner last night, I thought that I might try for a pre-breaky find on this one. The old dock area was quite serene on this chilly morning as I gathered the clues. A slight mistake in one of my answers had me searching the wrong area for a little while but once I found the error of my ways , I soon had the sneaky little stash in hand at 08:15.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Robmc and brothersinfluence.

And here's me been wandering around this series of caches thinking they were called the "Point of Sale" caches
Finally I have found the Port of Sale and it has all begun to make cents
It's amazing how many inland cities and townes in Australia have the title "Port of" stuck in front of their name.
I didn't realise how close to the lakes this place is till I looked at the map.
And what a great historical treasure trove of port related stuff is scattered around the area.
The cache was a nice easy find after a short walk, but a damn hard retrieve [:o]
I eventually worked it out and was surprised the police car that drove past while I was er, 'tying my laces' didn't stop

Not sure what is happening to this one. I thought the first one might have got washed away, but this time the container was left!
I have moved it slightly (and also downsized) until we work out what we are going to do here.
So, it is available to do again.
Thanks, Robmc.

Another historical site. Again we used the walkie talkies to gather the clues and then headed off to GZ. The only problem is that we found an empty cache. Well the cache was full of water but there was nothing else. No sign of a log or swaps. It has either been muggled or washed away. Suggest this one needs maintenance. Left the cache container where we found it.
Absolute major dramas with this cache today!!! Found the correct co ords and the cache but because mother nature was against us, securing the cache was almost impossible. Not a happy little cacher today.
Dropped in today for a Maintenance trip.
Not sure what happened to the box, but it is now replaced.
Thanks for being careful with the logbook.

A very easy find if you take along the right PA - good help might be hard to find, but when you do it's worth its weight in caches!
Good cache to find - BUT was only in a plastic bag (no container) Note pad was very wet, so did not try to write and entry.
Checked this cache out this morning as I was looking for a cache that would take a rather large TB. I remember this being a reasonable sized cache. But found just a very soggy log book in a plastic bag no longer water tight. Log book was too soggy for an entry. Maintenance is required. I didn't leave the TB.
Cold old day down at the port. Top spot. What is needed here is a watertight container. I'm guessing the original cache has been washed away at some stage. Howey and I enjoyed the hunt.
Great hunt on a cool day after work. Perhaps a new container is required. LNTN. TFTC
Had a fantastic day of giggles with some fellow Geocachers, and disappearing from sight in front of Muggles yet still conversing to others whilst looking for this one added to the laughter! TFTC
Rocky Glen Grommets thought these views were great - thanks for bringing us here. This cache REALLY needs some maintenance - a plastic bag just doesn't cut it!
The cache was just a soggy note book in a plastic envelope. We signed it and placed a small rock over it to give it a bit of cover.
Nice part of Sale this, with it's flotilla of small boats.

What a lovely location! First time here in Sale and had no idea about it being a Port - I have to admit - I had been confused by the name of the cache series. So now I am all edumacated. Nice!
PS cache is just a log in a plastic bag

Dropped by today to grab the fluffy duck mentioned by Elmer Stratty, as this is infact the TB Fluffy WADDLE duck. It seems that in the course of the cache being interfered with, the dog tag for this TB was taken too. I will hopefully get in touch with the TB owners about how to replace the dog tag and re-release this TB.
Quick find, but muggles hanging around made it hard to retrieve. No container, so we have put log book and fluffy duck in a bag. TFTC
All I could find today was a fluffy duck and a spiral notebook log. There was no container or TB's that I could see.

Almost gave up on this one. I had my little daughter in a carrier on my front and my wife wasn't keen on clambering on rocks near water (and my two year old was also running around!). Had to trip back to the car to ditch the family and return to find the cache. TNLN. TFTC!

Thanks for bringing us to the Port. Despite visiting this area on and off for 40+ years, I'd never ventured down here. Fabulous place for a picnic lunch on a sunny, spring afternoon.
Found the cache fairly easily once the GPSR settled.

Been through Sale a few times but never been here to this lovely spot made even better on a sunny day. There were a couple of muggles nearby but they were too intent on their conversation and the find was made without trouble and retrieved easily thanks to a low tide. Thanks once more robmc&co.
Found at 8.40am GAFF1. We have been wanting to come and explore this area for years and years, but every time we pass we are always in a hurry to get to somewhere else, or it is too late for us. So glad that we had the time this time to explore the area and find this cache. Thanks guys.

An easy find early in the evening with noone around. I'm amazed this cache survived the floods in June. A very interesting spot which I've been reading about in a book on the history of the Lakes. Thanks for the cache.

Found by Mary & David at 1145. Muddy and full of water (Sistemas aren't waterproof), but otherwise ok. The zip-lock bag did its job for the log book. TNLN, but collected a bedraggled 'Nell's Spirit of the Sea' TB. Our thanks again to Robmc and brothersinfluence.

Didn't find it. Given the encrypted clue I thought it may have been washed away recently.

Well i wasn't expecting to see a place like this out here. an interesting read and quite a mean feat. had to wait out for some muggles walking their dogs and another taking pictures, but had the cache in hand as soon as the coast was clear.

Sat and ate our lunches in the car out of the wind while being entertained by a rather unusual couple on the peer. In fact they were gettin hitched right on top of GZ.
after lunch and their funny departure we ran into GZ this was uncovered and empty. Oenze donated notebook and together we replaced a couple of swaps and a pen.
Cache was returned to GZ. Hope it stays there and the newly weds stay together as well. Love is blind

We had lunch while watching a very average looking couple getting maried, when they cleared away we headed to GZ to find the container laying out in the open where the couple got hitched, we gathered what we could find put in a new log book and rehid it where we thought it lived. Muggles left right and centre here but as you know I'm a professional . Soon done. Didn't worry about swaps here. Sort of done in haste.
My 4th in this series and a serene place in the mid afternoon. The search was short and where I expected to be. No chance of getting wet today. Made no exchange. Thanks robmc and brothersinfluence.
A beautiful day to be caching near the water. While half stayed to read the information the other half went down to look at the boats. When the final was worked out we all joined forces to find the cache.

Put the co-ords into the GPS from the workings and decided not to row halfway across Bass Strait. Redid fingering and walked instead. It was a very pretty spot when I was there as it was just on sunset and with the reflections on the water and people rowing past it was something Constable would have enjoyed painting. TFTC
