Yes another turned up the correct way . Today I left home reasonably early, with my bike on the ute, to meet up with Chezle and OZGrumpy in Riverton. We left my ute in Riverton, threw my bike on Chezles chariot and headed to Clare.A big day on our bikes riding both The Riesling Trail and The Rattler Trail to find caches while enjoying some country fresh air, a bit of sunshine, get some exercise and find a couple of DNFs of mine from a previous visit. All up a fun day, even if Im going to be a bit saddle sore tomorrow TFTC Mark ooKeep smiling

I dont recall exactly but it must be about 4 months ago at an event when OZGrumpy, Jlly and I had a chat about riding the Reisling and Rattler Trails for caches.Today is the day and as the weather gods would have it, its going to be a 35deg day Cache quickly found and log stamped TFTC

Thanks Mark_oo for placing this cache and for the ongoing maintenance. Find #10717 on 2/11/2024 at 2:52PMA plan was hatched to ride along the Riesling Trail and collect a few caches. A delightful day in the company of Cheezel and Jolly riding along and signing logs. This is a special place, very enjoyable. We also collected some others that were nearby or along the way.

I decided to take Friday off work to make it a four day weekend. The plan was to explore around Barossa and Clare valleys. Im not much of a wine drinker but there sure are lots of geocaches in these parts. I brought my bike along so I could tackle some of the many caches along bike tracks. A little cool through out the day but the sun was shining which always makes me happy. Yes I am a John Denver Fan. I started this trail last year so today managed to put another big dent in this trail. All found without problems unless stated otherwise. Found out in the open so have placed the cache at ground level inside the pillar box, underneath some wood. Thank you Mark_oo, for placing Pillar box for the geocaching community.# # SmileSmile #14916 SmileSmile # #

The JAMS crew went on an October long weekend adventure back to Clare. We brought Tallbikestan along as we were targetting the bike tracks and he is the best rider amongst us. Allister W and sir_spectre we the other main riders, with JJ52 and I the support crew and walkers. A huge weekend of fun and adventure was had by all, until I made SS sick with my cold....oops.
Thanks to all those who have kept not just the bike tracks but all the other caches alive for us to find.
All caches signed as JAMS.
Thanks to Mark_oo from mogni Smile

01-Oct-22
A return visit to Clare was planned for the long weekend with the JAMS crew plus tallbikestan to find a lot of the caches that we didn't get to on our last visit along with the Rattler, Riesling and NE trails as well as the Mid North Channel Country trail. [^]

We had three very full days with perfect weather for caching, lots of bike riding, lots of walking and lots of driving along dirt tracks. We were lucky it had not recently been wet as some of the roads we drove on would not have been passable if wet. Loved the scenery at this time of year with everything looking very green as well as the bright yellow of the canola crops. Big Grin

A fun weekend of caching, lots of caches found and lots of cool places visited. Cool

Thanks for the cache Mark_oo. Smile

01-Oct-22
A big long weekend with the JAMS Crew (JJ52, allister w(me), mogni, Sir Spectre and tallbikestan). We road from Riverton to Stanley Flat on day 1. Then more riding near Spalding on day 2. Then finished the weekend with finding caches around the area in the car. TFTC

Planted some new trees, must not have been replaced.

Day 13 of our Vic/SA trip with Robmc the geodogs and our bicycles. Our last day based in Clare so of course we had to hop on the bikes again with the doggies in tow and hit one of the nearby trails. We drove to Auburn and rode 10km down the Rattler Trail before turning back. A sunny and quite warm day picking up 36 caches along the way.

Cute little pillar box but a DNF for us today despite quite a long search. I see it was replaced at the end of May so not sure what we were doing wrong. Probably needs a maintenance check.

28-Jul-22
Day thirteen of our short South Australian trip with BettyBoo3747 and the geo-doggies.
A lovely day in Clare Valley. We drove down to Auburn and unloaded the deadly treadlies and hit the bike trails riding south for about half of the Rattler series.. Then back to Clare for a few caches, some lunch, then back to base.

An interesting structure, but no cache for us today.
Thanks, Robmc.

27-May-22
Replaced

We set out along the trail to complete the remaining caches I had left to find, all the caches were easily found apart from replacing the cache if it needed too. A lovely 13km ride completed without seeing anyone else here

Off to Clare for an overnight trip mainly focusing on getting the bikes out for a spin and hitting the rail trails for some adventure and indulging in the local wine culture, whilst finding some caches along the way. A lovely weekend away dodging the weather. Total of 91 finds for the 2 days.

Thanks for the cache

Interesting piece of history but alas we could not find this one.

Left Riverton on foot @ 7.45am this morning chasing the caches, enjoying the company of my friend, with the breeze and sunshine on our faces, chatting all the way, we arrived in Auburn @ 5pm this afternoon with only a couple of DNF's and 60+ finds.

Headed up this way with the bike, the main aim being the Rattler Trail and of course anything else I was going to ride past and this was one of those but unfortunately no cache was found. Had noticed the cute little building on the ride down to the start but have a feeling muggles like to check it out as well.
Thanks for the hunt Mark_oo

After finding cache Rattler 64 near our camp ground in Auburn, we decided to stay one night longer, and to bike the Rattler trail to Riverton. And so we did the next morning, caching on the way and back, and enjoying a good lunch in Riverton.

All in all it was a good day, some 40 km on the bikes, 5 DNFs, good weather, nice sized boxes and a lot of fun.

Thank you for showing the beautiful surroundings and for preparation this trail. We had a fun day.

Headed off this morning to walk the Rattler Trail, 19.5km containing 75 caches. Happily we got them all. The day was nice for this trip with an overcast sky and lower temperatures. Most finds were nice and quick, some took a little longer and other's we had to repair with the CO's permission. Our walk took us a little longer than we thought it would, but we took care not to run into any snakes today. Saw a group of kangaroo's, which ran ahead of us for half a dozen caches.

This cache was a nice quick find. tftc

We have had the Rattler series on our "to do" list since the caches were first published but we have never been in the area for sufficient time to make a start. However we had a couple of days spare after completing the Gone Fishn' series on the Yorke Peninsula. So we decided to stay a couple of nights in Auburn and to make the Rattler our priority. With the likelihood of another hot day, we made an early start.

We broken the trail into a number of sections. Mrs y'stassie walked the first section whilst Mr y'stassie took the car to the start of the second section and started walking from there. When she arrived at the end of the first section (also the start of the second section), she took the car to the start of the third section and began walking from there, leaving the car for Mr y'stassie. In that way we halved the amount of walking.

We came across this cache whilst walking the Rattler trail. Accurate coordinates and a logical hide location led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Mark_oo for the cache.

An interesting historical location here and an interesting hide as well.

Apologise for the generic logs. Found on a day out and about with Darkmoon31. Thought we would walk the first half of the rattler trail, which ultimately took us approx. 12km and over 5 hours. Thank you for bringing us to this beautiful part of the world. TFTC

Quick and easy find.
Parked on Quondong Rd, and had a great ride in the Autumn sunshine.
A few farmers were out seeding, and the freshly turned soil smelt great.
It was good to see some old railway sleepers on some road crossings.
The trail was quiet today.

Catching up on some late, very late and extremely late logs (400 in all)

I would like to thank Mark_oo for placing this cache. I always enjoy getting out and about to view this great country of ours and caching allows me to do that. Once at GZ, I sometimes find the cache quickly but sometimes it takes awhile to sus out the well camouflaged hide. Once found, log is signed and the cache is rehidden as found.

Once again thanks Mark_oo.

I was surprised to see the olde Pillar Box sitting trail side Smile
These things are dotted everywhere alongside railway lines, but I've never really been able to figure out what their main use was.
And what is that 'sky hook' for on the top !! [:o]

Inside this pillar box the original timber work remains, and the cache was soon found in a cupboard Smile

The Rattler trail was the day's target. I rode with the checker crew, of firesafe, clare007, snappy tomcats, featherwaite and me. Cool We brought up the rear and checked that the BABB was signed in every log. It was, and we could pick who got there first, plain BABB, BABB in green, BABB group, BABB crew. We were waiting for the BABB posse, collective or babble to turn up in the logs. Red Face. As usual it was a great day with plenty of laughs and we found your cache along the way. Smile Thanks Mark oo. Big Grin

After pondering what to do this morning... we decided to head out this way and pick up some smilies ;c) These were great to help raise our average difficulty rating, for a cache in QLD we would like to pick up!! Managed to grab several Rattler caches, but this was the best one so far on the trail... we will have to come back another time with some decent bikes to get the rest ;c) Love old historical building like this. South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.

Today we were off to the Yorke Peninsula, the original destination for this trip. We spent the whole day driving only as far as Kadina, but we went via Clare and plenty of rail trail caches. Everyone has done a great job of placing a great variety of caches and we had a great day.

Thanks.
