Kolour and I organised a long weekend in Canberra to catch up with the great Domsky duo. Of course there was much caching to be done! Off the plane this morning, a CITO, challenge caches and some targeted caches were on the agenda.A quick find here, a fantastic view!! Thanks Tankengine for the cache.
Im visiting Canberra from Brisbane with Willis007 for a long weekend with the Domsky duo, our wonderful guides, targeting mainly oldies and challenges. This is my first time geocaching in the ACT.I wanted to visit the nearby lookout as I have a photo that my father took of our family there in 1967 and was interested in the changes. Then I noticed this nearby cache which was soon found. Logbook signed and replaced as found. Tftc
We had to dodge some persistent muggles before finding this cache. One of the view points offered good views of Lake Burley Griffin.Once the sun had broken through and things had warmed up a bit we headed off to the Botanic Gardens a place we had visited many years ago. The Rainforest Walk Mrs SKI remembered, and it is just like some areas close to where we live, The banksias were out and well worth a look. Some in flower we have in our garden at home! You can't be in this area without a visit to Black Mountain, but it is looking quite sad and run down. Most of the viewing areas are now obscured and the Tower is closed. Then it was time to head to the museum, and finally pout for a big tea down south, that we probably should have passed on, but was still enjoyable.Of course we collected a few caches on the way, quite a variety.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Tankengine.**SKI Pair****
The 6th and final cache on a 10km run up the hill in the hope of seeing some kangaroos. The run and hunt for caches were a success, the Roo Hunt - not so much.Greetings from Oxfordshire, England. Cache find number 1927. Dropped off Lackey Tag TB.
Ive had a lovely eleven days attending conferences in Glenbrook, in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Today I was back in the office, probably one of the few people in Canberra still working after 5pm on the Friday of a long weekend. Anyhoo. I got back to my room, had some dinner, and watched the first episode of the new season of Bridgerton! Then Ive ducked out to grab this geocache. Now Im ready to settle in for the night and watch the rest of this third seasonThanks for the cache, Tankengine!
Escaping from Assignment City (Population: Me), I took a drive up the mountain to find a view that'd help forget about things for about half an hour.In weather that could potentially be described as perfect, I had a gorgeous vantage point over the sprawling Canberra vista below. And - even better - without any muggles to spoil it!There were a few cars up in the carpark, but they must've all been heading out as they weren't there by the time I returned a few minutes later (and appeared to have migrated to the next lookout down the hill). That made the retrieval exercise all the more simple for me, fortunately.GPS signal up here was fairly unreliable, although the hint safely guided me to a likely spot. The log within was signed and the trackable retrieved before everything was returned and some obligatory photos of that lovely view were taken! Thanks to Tankengine for placing this one here!
Thought it was appropriate to drop my trackable at one of tankengines caches as have had so much fun with your caches during my visit here from Minnesota in the us!
We walk the Scenic Forest Trak on the Black Mountain. So we visit the Tower and some Caches. Thank you for the Caches !

Here for the Canberra mega. Great location for a cache with fabulous views. Thanks for bringing us here!
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Tankengine! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)
Loving my time in Canberra for the GeoBash. There is so many amazing things to see and do and people to meet. The view up here is beautiful and the perfect place to hide a few caches. Oh and the weather has been absolutely perfect.TFTC TankengineKeep smiling ??
Just like other recent logs we also found this while visiting Canberra for the Geobash Mega.We loved our visit and look forward to returning soon to find a few more that we didn't this trip. Thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches for us all to find. Loved the views we saw over Canberra from here. TFTC
Today I had a plan on grabbing a variety of caches and all with a varying degree of types and difficulties. There is a great number of caches with special attributes and d/t's around town. For me it was an early start and I first took off to grab a cache and a virtual after I had fueled up at the local servo. I then raced off to grab a few more before I had to meet up with my caching buddy of the day Grannysmith. We had a huge day and a lot of laughs, there were few stories to catch up on and some great caches.Logs were signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks for the hides.
Out and about after the mob event.Caching with and signing as the group '6 for QLD' and having a great day.TFTCache Tankengine
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Headed out for a big day in Canberra! 2 events and lots of walking around and around the Botanic Gardens then doing laps of Duntroon. This was the first cache we found today.TFTC Tankengine
After the nearby [Black Mountain Flash Mob](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCAJY03_black-mountain-flash-mob), we wandered around finding Ad Lab points and a few of the other caches on the mountain that are reasonably easy to access. The view from here is actually better than from the top! Thanks for find #5835TNLN
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU.
A quick find while attending the nearby event; didn't have to worry about muggles, the only people in sight knew it was there! Thanks for the cache Tankengine
Found during the Black Mountain event today. Of course, the only time I had to struggle with finding a cache rated with 1.0 difficulty was when Im with a whole group of experienced geocachers Good on ya, Shady ???Sebass19 helped me look for it, and despite having found the cache a few years ago, was just as puzzled as I was. There seems to have been some cache creep over the years? In the end the cache was found ~10m away from GZ, according to the GPS. In the end he made the find and so I let him keep the pathtag that was in the container. There are beautiful views up here, only made better by the beautiful weather today! Thanks for the cache!
Nice day out to the Canberra Zoo with the Geofamily. The toddler was tired so a drive up to the tower to put her to sleep and have a look. We'll while about I thought I better knock over at least one cache and bam, there was one near by. TFTC and for bringing us to the nice views!
Something special or unusual goes here:A quick find whilst walking between lookouts to admire the views. The Generic Bit:Both Bri and Sal are on the road for a holiday. [^] Holiday - Not a caching trip. This means if we are stopping for a rest, lunch, dinner or to see something whilst on holiday and there just happens to be a cache nearby then maybe Bri can go and try to find it. Maybe. Day 5: Today we went back to the War Memorial. We did a guided tour yesterday which took all the time so today we went to see what we had missed yesterday. Up to the now closed Telstra Tower on Black Mountain for a picnic lunch. Onto the Dinosaur Museum and back to Mt. Painter for the must do oldest cache. That certainly got the steps and heartrate up! Managed to grab a few caches as well,**SAs Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. - BOING*****Thanks Tankengine for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
Came along here with goingplaced2 for the views and picked up this cache as well. No problem in finding it and signing the log. TFTC.

Thanks for the cache! Great little hide coordinates a little off but a quick walk around had it found.
Wonderful views here! Happy to report that the cache is in good condition and well re-hidden. TFTC
Had a few hours to kill in Canberra before returning to Sydney, and decided to go up to Black Mountain. Stopped at the lookout to appreciate the views and find the cache. I couldn't find it immediately and was standing slightly off the path looking around, when a fellow cacher caught me. He had found the cache before and gave me a pointer to where it was. Thanks random cacher and CO!
Could not do the lab caches up here as the tower is currently closed, stopped for this trad instead, and there were some good views here
Thak you for hiding

Last find for 2022 on Black Mountain waiting for the fireworks.
That makes 1125. Last year I sat 25 metres from this but had 1000 for 2021 and resisted.
