After moving overseas and finding out that Beautiful Bulyong Creek went for a swim in the floods, it's time for this beauty to retire. It was good while it lasted.

13-Apr-13
A family holiday to Renmark, to visit grandparents and a short houseboat trip.
I found myself moored 2km as the crow flies from the GC.
I did consider walking to the spot but that fell through.

So, whipped out the dinghy and zipped the 5km by river to the Bulyong entrance with my son.

Thought I would walk to the spot, so of course, I picked the wrong side of the creek and had to walk back to the dinghy and decided to simply zip up the Bulyong.

Moored at a likely looking place and inland we wandered.

Found the cache with little trouble.

Thanks for adding that little bit of spice to the houseboat trip on the Murray River.

The hide has obviously spent some time floating in it's lifetime, judging by the markings on the box.

Book is wet and needs replacing.

Water was too shallow for my boat and too deep and muddy to wade. Nevertheless a fun adventure for my brave crew.

13-Aug-11
Need a boat for this one perhaps one day.

21-Jul-11

Went hunting for this one while on a houseboat holiday over Easter. We initially parked the boat 1.3km downstream and walked through scrub with lots of big spiders, a few creeks, a brown snake and eventually a wetland before giving up on this and returning to the boat. Next, my brother dave agreed to take us on his motorised tinny to gz, so we boated up to the river entrance and went in by foot. We padded through marsh and clay mud and managed to get 20m from the cache! Only a lake of water between us and victory! We went back to the tinny and dave reluctantly said we could go in there by boat. The oars were brought out as dave and my cousin John rowed the boat in- helped by the strong current. We pulled up to gz, surrounded by water and tied the boat on. We each then proceeded to climb on and over gz and poked around with some bark to discover the cache was still in place, just completely underwater! Got the cache out, emptied the water out, took the manky (mouldy) swaps out, emptied the water from the log book and wrung that out too- signed the log carefully, added a second log book bag and returned the cache to it's home. Cache is in need of maintenance- we took the swaps, but all contents are soaked! Thanks for giving us the excuse to go on this adventure Smile tftc!

Found this one again on the 29th Sept after a lovely BBQ up the river.
Sorry to those of you who found it on 1/10/10, I think Hutchy might have been in one of the tinnies passing by Smile

Got to it via canoe, our first 4 star terrain. what great fun. TFTC

Went down the creek with the Trip-Tze crew and after some general crazy stuff in canoes (including nearly getting swamped by kamikaze tinnies and panic attacks brought on by the spiders in the reeds) we went looking for the cache.

Great spot, almost surreal. Thank you for bringing us here!

16-Jun-09
Found while on a houseboat trip. An interesting area but unlike others we found it while dressed. Soon after finding this cache our GPS died so we were unable to do any more caching during our holiday. Left a rubber man and took a ball.

Thanks for the cache

HurricaneHeather and I camped nearby this spot and found the cache first thing in the morning. It's so private here, there was no need to even get dressed for this one! The kangaroos certainly didn't seem to mind! I think this is where we found the Plan-B Geocoin.

followed in the steps of SA_parrothead and used the kayak to cross Ral Ral Creek then walked the floodplain to the cache site admiring the wildlife..... predominately roo's with flies thrown in ... interesting structure near GZ.... cache was where I'd guess it would be on approach and in fine order.... enjoyed the walk and paddle to the cache.. with a little more time would have paddled more and walked less but that's for another day Smile

TNLNSL cheers 4 da cache tom & nikki and splitscreen!

Now this one we knew was going to present a challenge but we were keen to conquer. We decided to check out landing spots in which we could return with our inflatible boat. Ended up near a property and were not sure whether we were trespassing or not so decided to ask about access to the river. Luck was with us and after seeking directions in line with the cache notes we not only got those but the offer of a kyak and a partner for the adventure which let me off the hook. It was a beautiful afternoon on the river and Bruce and his new companion headed off on the flat water in the warmth of the afternoon. Managed to find the cache without any problem and they both loved the adventure. TNLN. Thanks for placing this challenging cache.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Found with the help of Klaus and Normie (equipment and local knowledge). Came up Ral Ral and then Bulyong Probaly could have done by a shorter route but not nearly as worth while. Lots of wildlife even mid arvo. Not sure what the structure was? Took highlighter pen. Left baby toy SL Thanks Tom & Nikki

Paddled up Bulyong Creek from Ral Ral Creek. Found the cache early before the heat of the day. Liked it so much we've hidden another not too far away. Took the ear plugs and left a pen. TFTC it was great as it required a bit of effort and gave us another reason to go for a paddle.

This cache was a stand out experience on my Riverland trip this week.
Having a kayak but no power boat I knew this was going to be a challenge.
Went around to Murtho Forest Landing but that seemed a bit far to paddle.
So I came back to Renmark and crossed a creek left the kayak and walked to the cache.
An enjoyable walk across flat ground for a change with a truly excellent finishing location.
I bet that structure wont be used ever again.
I then carried on to the River and had some lunch. What a magnificent view.
There was a houseboat moored nearby and on the way out I meet the people by the structure.
One of them was from Canada and another from Melbourne. Chatted and then I was on my way.
Thanks for a great cache. I loved it.
It gets a big tick from me. Wink

First to Find!

Thank you Tom, Nikki and SplitScreen for hiding a cache near one of the best little creeks along the Murray. It was great to have a reason to take the tinny out and have lunch on the banks of the Murray.

dkw, hutch, geokid j, geokid k and special guests the Coombs' found this one

As we approached the cache there was a whole mob of kangaroos bounding around and as it is on an island, I expect they are often nearby. We were very surprised to see a man made structure of some sort not far away. It would be interesting to know exactly what is is, or was supposed to be.

T: bracelet & clamp
L: ball & something else?

TFTC Smile dkw hutch
