What an amazing place this is. Found with clankeegan and wallacekidz on our trip up the canning stock route. We have now found all the traditional caches on the CSR and have placed a few for other to find in the future. Thanks for placing this cache at a fabulous spot.
Found it! We have travelled the CSR with merilyntas and WallaceKidz and loved every minute.
This cache was the last one on our list to find and we can proudly say we found every one. The legs are sore but it was well worth the climb.
Gotta give a favourite point to this one

It was an amazing adventure! We walked half of the circumference then somehow survived scrambling down the cliff to the middle. Cache is in excellent condition!
I always enjoy an LPN cache and this one is right up there. We were travelling up the centre via the Oodnadatta Track and then decided to drive the Tanami Track to meet friends in the Bungles. Of course we had to stop here overnight.
Definitely a favourite! Can’t wait to hear the CST story about the shoes.
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!
Lyn Pat and Nathan, I found Wolfe Creek Crater today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Same log as other cache, Fav for this cache also
Bucket list item, wahoo! Finally, we had to drive past the turn off a few years ago as we had car issues, it was so good to finally come out this way.
We had an eventful drive seeing Jillaroo's from Kidman's Ruby Plains station, Two cheeky dingo pups on the road in front of us. The boys in blue pulled us over too, they were checking for border jumpers, you’d have to be pretty desperate to try and jump the border here, considering the nearest fuel is in Alice Springs 1200km away and the track is pretty treacherous too. Surprisingly enough they catch a few too.
Anyway, Snr. Cst. Diamond was excited that the kids were having an adventure and proceeded to tell them the only school they needed was on the road learning about nature and history. We had a great chat, when it came to photo time he quickly explained he was also the fashion police and he was very concerned at Blake’s choice in footwear - he was wearing one thong and one runner as he had a blister, ‘twas a little bit funny.
Anyway back to Wolfe Creek....
We were the only campers out at Wolfe Creek, we were enjoying the heat (not really) and the serenity until just after dark a rattily old Landcruiser turned up, rushed up to the main car park swung around with their spot lights on then made a B line to the camping area right next to us.... cue the Wolfe Creek movie soundtrack.....there were a few nervous glances out the caravan window until we realised it was some young international travelers. I took a couple of photos so if our bodies were found the police might have a lead...
A fav for location... TFTC

It is quite amazing. I've seen the movie so I was a bit spooky when driving here alone but police officers overtook and I felt safe. Tftc!
I am so annoyed with myself as I forgot to download this cache before I went out there. ??
Wow! Das hat BUMM! gemacht. Gut das wir erst jetzt hier sind. Danke für die große Dose sagen HunttheHunters and Missy
I’m glad we stayed at Halls Creek an extra night so we could check out this amazing crater.

Stopping at Wolfe Creek to meet up with the rest of our party before heading down the Canning. Team Crackers and I headed down into the crater to search for this cache. We eventually found it and the log was duely signed. Then we decided to have a look around, out toward the centre of the crater. After extricating ourselves from the crater, I decided to take on circumnavigating the rim, which took about an hour to an hour and a half to do.
Thanks Lyn Pat and Nathan for placing this cache.

Amazing place in the middle of no where very dry this year no wild life enjoyed the walk around the top of the creator after my find
Found it!
I’m working at the hospital for a couple of months and came out to see this amazing geological phenomenon. Definitely worth the trip out. Fun, rocky walk down to the centre. Was looking around a bit to high for a while before turning around and seeing the huge pyramid of rocks. Thanks for the cache in an amazing spot! Peace out

Touring from Tasmania and and braved a night camping, then a visit to the crater. Tftc
After breakfast we headed for a walk aroiund the Crater. But there is a cache down so it was a must to do the extra tour to find it. In fact it was Terry who found it. Great location and worth the drive on the Tanami. TFTC
This location has been on my wish list for some time. I finally got a job from Kalgoorlie to Granites Mine via South Australia and headed back to Perth in this direction. I do love it when work coincides with my geo hunting (I just take extended detours when it doesn't, haha) I took the tb and will get him to WA to further his travels. Thanks for the placement in this location. It's always a fantastic buzz to find something that has been in place for such a long time. TFTC
Even with the wind there were plenty of flies. Easy find after a walk around the spinifex.
Updated the terrain to 3.5 as suggested. Sounds like a good idea as it is a steep decent even if it is not long.
Wow!!!!! What a great place this is. We have always wanted to
visit but were not too sure about the Tanami Track itself. We left
Alice Springs on the 9th and arrived here on the 13th October.
Did the walk up the 'hill' and Mr Little Squirell went into the
Crater to hunt for the cache. It took him a little while to come up
with the goods but I guess for a 72 year old he did extremely well.
We actually thought the Terrain level should be a little higher due
to the ruggedness of the track down to the rim. But all is good and
we thank you very much for the hide. A fave from us.

After leaving my muggle friends at the Rock, it was time to head north and now west towards the Bungles and get a bit of caching down on the way to my final destination.
A very hot morning but if caching you gotta do what you gotta a do.
A trip out his way is not complete with out coming out to Wolfe Creek Crater.
Not the ideal temp to do the part of the rim walk then head on down into the crater and of course out into the middle.
This took longer than it should have (I think the heat was getting to me).
I found the cache and luckily didn’t meet up with Mick Taylor.
Left a PT for the next finder.
Thanks Lyn Pat and Nathan TFTC.

As we continue on our year trip and head toward the halls creek we will cache along the way. From Geelong victoria up the centre to Darwin we stayed in Kununurra to explore the Kimberley’ s and enjoy the ord river muster. We need to keep moving to make home for Christmas
Of course we had to go out to Wolfe creek crater for ourselves to see it and cross it off the list.

We did the Earthcache when we arrived yesterday before setting up camp. Today we packed up and returned so we could see the crater again and walk down to this traditional. As the cache page says it’s an easy walk just a bit rocky here and there.
We found the cache no problem once down the bottom. After the log book was signed we continued further into the centre to explore a bit more.
What an absolutely cool place. It’s amazing when you stand in the middle and think about the meteorite that caused it all.

Camped here last night on our 20th wedding anniversary. Got up before dawn to walk to the top and watched a brilliant sunrise before finding this cache. Easy find after weaving our way through all the spinifex.
Pulled into camp late and watched Wolfe Creek the movie and freaked out. This place is spooky! Found whilst on the 2017 #gnomehome adventure around the Australian continent. thanks for the cache and thanks for bringing us here.
Great find early in the morning. Fabulous location. Amazing that this cache survived a meteor impact Or perhaps the cache hitched a ride on the big rock from space???
We left Vic on the 1st bound for Tanami road. This cache was on our list come hell or high water!! Lucky we got neither and it was smoothish sailing getting here. The view from up top was beyond words!!! The view upwards from the bottom was magnificent too!!! Tftc
Came all the way from Victoria with kenare, kenbryl and Mippy05 to travel the Tanami with kenare's dad. What an AWESOME geological formation. Cigc. Tftc
We arrived here mid morning and were in awe of the Crater!!! It is amazing!!! Tftc
We were travelling on the Tanami track from Alice Springs, so it has been a long time since the previous cache. We followed the instructions and found the hide quickly. The crater was beautiful with a nice walk to strech our legs. Thanks for the box
Tagging along with the "Rats" on holidays has it's advantages, not only do we get to see our cool country but we also get to do a heap of caching as Dad just can't help himself and has to stop at every cache he can.
Heading across Australia on nearly every dirt road possible we stopped and found your cache as part of our adventure and for that, I thank you! Sorry about the log being a "cut n paste" but tthats just because we stopped at so many caches.

The Rats and mini rats found this cache as part of our Purposeful Meander across Oz where we visited every mainland state in 8 weeks.
Apologises for the late log in some cases but we are only just catching up on our logging now that we have arrived back home. Your cache makes up many of the great memories we now have from the adventure. The faceplate style log doesn't detract from the experience we had finding the cache.
Thanks

Great find to finish off our walk around the rim and through the middle. Thanks a lot!
[:D ] On arrival trying to beat the sun from setting , a hastily decent, a quick search, retrieved the loot ,signed sealed & back up to the top . A magnificent area ,views, the colours ,,,,Top spot !! well worth the effort to come and see ..Thanks Pat and Nathan +FP..
What a spectacular view from the top of the crater. As we walked along the crater floor to the cache the spinifex grass really got to the point (ouch). Once the cache was found we walked into the centre of the crater checking out all the wildflowers along the way. TFTC
After arriving yesterday and walking to the crater rim we returned to find a camping spot for the night (TV was good and so was TWO). After packing up the following morning I returned to the crater to locate and sign this cache before leaving the area for Halls Creek and beyond.
TFTC. After watching the wolf creek movie the first time years ago, I had no idea where it was.
to be an Aussie traveling this country, I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit this amazing crater and learn more. Heavy corrugations all the way in did not deter. Our 4wd is setup for just this and we passed many people in city style vehicles struggling, even an offroad camper trailer missing a wheel with a snapped axle and the owners waiting for a tow.
Well worth the expedition, an amazing place.
Dropped off a TB and a few swaps.

After my phone overheated the first time we few ended into the crater,we returned to the ute to pop it in the fridge.
As soon as it was cool enough to work I raced back, finding the cache just in time to return to the summit for a gorgeous WA sunset.

Found 27 September 2015. What a great natural phenomenon. One cannot image the force the meteorite hit to make such a huge crater. It is an amazing conclusion to the Canning Stock Route. What a great journey. So here we are 12 days after leaving Wiluna. Great sunset and a full moon. Spooky?? TFTC.
We tried to record the movie but they changed the programme and we ended up recording a soccer game. Bad luck or maybe not? So we went to Wolfe Creek Crater without seeing the movie. We even changed the whole itinery (dropping off the camper in Alice instead of Darwin) to visit Wolfe Creek. It was definately worth a visit! Amazing place in the middle of nowhere. The access track is... well.... a bit worn out. I believe I've never seen worse corrugations than here. But in the end it was worth all the shaking and our brave Hilux made it in one piece.
The idea of doing this cache came many moons ago when I was talking to a work colleague and fellow cacher about the movie "Wolfe Creek" when the subject came up of do you think there is a cache there. He looks it up. Yes. I have to do it. I rock home. Do you want to go to Wolfe Creek? Yes, why not! Now at this point I am not even really sure where Wolfe Creek is but we are going. It turns out it is possibly the furtherest place from an airport that one can get in Australia. Well there are closer airports but I haven't recently won the lotto. It looks like we are driving from Darwin.
Fast forward till two weeks ago. Wolfe Creek is on television at midnight on a work night. I have seen the movie before and yes I have it on dvd but I was so excited about going to Wolfe Creek that yes I stayed up and watched it. Probably not the best move I have ever made. Some things can't be undone.
We caught the plane to Darwin, stayed at Katherine, drove all day to Halls Creek and stayed the night there. At 6am it is Wolfe Creek time. Old mate got man flu x ebola probably from the plane flight. It looks like it is going to pour down rain. We are going to this cache. At 8:15 we are at the parking area. We are the only people here. Ripper.
We are supposed to be following some kind of trail. What trail would that be? I have no idea. Straight down we go and head for the cache. Dropped off two trackables. We wander around the bottom and then we work out we are no longer alone. Old mate up the top, who is no doubt John Jarratt and Turtlemans love child by the sound of his voice starts coo-eeing and talking rubbish. We start making our way up to the top, all the time this old bloke stays just far enough away. It is 27 degrees already and it isn't even 9am yet. My old mate is buggered from man flu and walking back up the crater has me buggered so I am hoping I don't have to run from this bloke.
We get to the top when the old bloke runs over to his car and lifts the bonnet for no apparent reason except to be funny I am sure. I so hope he is trying to be funny although he is not succeeding. By the time we get back to the car suddenly his car is in working order and off he goes.
We get to the gate and he has parked his car in the gate so no-one can drive in or out and he has wandered off. What is wrong with this guy? He wanders back and jumps in his car. We overtake him and then we get a flat tyre. This turned into the fastest tyre change in history.

Took the dusty trip out to the Crater today. What an amazing place. TNLN TFTC
Today we ventured into the unknown, yep Woooolfffe Creek Crater. We had watched the movies but still game to have a go at this cache. A long drive, but worth it, great views from the top and the bottom, plenty of bird life, surprisingly, and a nice day to top it off, easy find, a great place to visit, may not be putting our hand up for camping here!! Left path tag and adding to our favourites.
After this we spent 1 hour trekking the CSR, wow corrugations at their best!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Found by Phreddy of Newcastle. TNSL Thanks for the cache Lyn Pat & Nathan. Coming to Wolfe Creek has crossed one off my Bucket list. A truly magnificent place. Stayed in the camp ground overnight and was not visited by John Jarrett.
Our trip to this cache was a real adventure. About 20 kilometres from the highway our car broke down. I already felt like in the movie when a car appeared full of Aborigines who wanted to tow us to the next place where we can make a call. In the end we ended up on Ruby Plains farm and could stay there overnight and also got help with fixing the car. So luckily we were able to continue our journey and really enjoyed the scenery. Never seen a place like this before.
Thanks for making us come here.

We drove down from Halls Creek this afternoon and set up camp in the nearby campground. As the sun began to lower in the western sky the temperature fell fro 35c to a more pleasant 30c. Much better for climbing the inside of a crater wall.
After a few photos on the rim i descended the narrow gully to the floor of the crater. Made the short hike to the center and found a very salty crust.
I walked back the way i came and made the short detour to gz where i found a very impressive cache.
This was on my bucket list on this trip. A great cache and well worth a favourite point
Thanks

We oldies didn't walk down, so we didn't find the cache. But we wanted to thanks you for the beautiful view from the rim down the crater. We had a good night at the campsite also and saw a lot of wildlife running and flying around. Thanks, ducteam from the Netherlands.
Found it travelling the Tanami from Halls Creek to Alice. Well worth the detour, what an amazing place!

Easy find after a careful climb into the crater. From there I walked to the centre of the crater, up onto the rim and back to the carpark. We camped the night at Wolfe Creek and our friends battery was flat in the morning (spooky). TNLN. TFTC.
Found it, well, Geo hub climbed down to find it. Left Bouncy Ball, took TB by Mamils

After a couple of hours exploring the crater we remembered the cache and poor old Mr M had to go back and get it. Took a TB and left one as well. Great to see an ammo box. Thanx guys. This visit has been a dream of Mrs. M's for a lifetime so we were delighted to finally get here. Really loved it so a fave for the crater and your cache as well. [^]
A good climb down to the crater but found the cache easily. A magnificent piece of nature, a very big hole the meteorite made, quite or-inspiring. Thanks
300km detour to see it. Saw movie before and wanted to see although we knew that it is not the original setting. But great place. If you get chance to see second largest crater of the world you should take it! Awesome! And even more with that great cache there! Nice easter egg in a big easter meteorite crater nest. Tftc team tinwolf
Really enjoyed our visit here and followed the recommended walk. Easy find. Left coin. Met Locked-On?
Great place, not so great road in in places, not fond of the spinifex on the bare legs but a good cache in an interesting location.
Did this cache after a walk around the crater floor, although the "muggles" ahead seemed to be pointing across GZ and glancing at phones; one question and fellow GC'ers Kemblacashews joined the search. We also had Rick (soon to be ex muggle) with us to see how it all works. Soon cache was in hand, with biggest risk being sharp spinnifex and snakes hiding in abundant grass. tftc, and nice to meet you kemblacashews and travel partners for tanami Rick and Barb.
TFTC found it eventually but not that easy with young kids and a serious case of scratched legs from the spinifex grass. However very pleased that we made the trip, a nice look around the crater as well
Not an easy cache in shorts, lots of spinifex. Camped here the night and watched the Wolf Creek movie, a mildly scary horror film. Had a few chuckles at bed time when we could here the kids from their tent saying 'Did you hear that noise'.
All in all worth the drive out on a very rough road! Thanks Lyn Pat and Nathan your caches are always great!!

Halls Creek WA
After yesterdays aborted attempt we were set to try again to make it to Wolfe Creek Crater. ..............................................We eventually came to the turnoff to the crater road, we had a gate to pass through so Charlie and Jacki jumped out to let us through, there was an old building here and on the way back out we stopped to check it out, it was a derelict store and possible residence, the map called this locality ‘Carranya’ and there was a sign stating that and also that it was leased to the Ruby Plains Station. The road was a bit rougher and not as wide but still in reasonable condition, we did need to slow down due to the condition but we only had 20ks to travel. We came to another gate and our tame gate openers jumped out to do their job. At this point there was another derelict set of buildings, we had a look at these also on the way out.
The next and final set of gates brought us into the Wolfe Creek Crater National Park and it was only a short drive to the car park and the rim of the crater. We parked the car and went to have a look at the information signs before starting our walk up the rim. The trail up was very rocky with loose rubble making the footing somewhat treacherous. Upon arrival at the top we were presented before us with a panorama of the whole crater and it was a spectacular sight. The base of the crater was a lot lower than the surrounding countryside and the walls were raised all around the create a huge amphitheatre. We stopped at the top to appreciate the sheer scale of the phenomenon, the kids seemed to be actually excited about something for a change.
There was a path down into the crater from our vantage point and we picked our way down the slippery pebbles being very careful with our footing to avoid a tumble, a trail led from the bottom edge towards the centre, we followed this narrow trail at first walking through a golden sandy trail which glittered and sparkled in the sunlight. Soon the ground became darker and more muddy with a white crust of salt. The vegetation also changed here to being more sparse, with only salt tolerant plants and lots of dead trees probably killed by the salt.
The kids scribbled and scratched their names in the crusted white surface to reveal the black mud underneath, we wandered around to see if we could guess where the centre was, some campers had left evidence of their stay with some old charcoal from their fire places. When it was time to return to the car we walked back the way we came, at the bottom of the rim we stopped and took a detour to look for a cache placed nearby, “Wolfe Creek Crater, GC15A9Y”. This was no picnic to get to as we had to pick our way through the nasty spinifex grass clumps and rock hop over the loose slippery rocks. We eventually found the cache and were pleased to find an ammo box, something which is now getting rare. We took a toy car and left behind a McDees toy then made our way back to the trail, at one stage I placed my foot badly and toppled over. I hit my back quite hard on a rock and ended up in a large clump of spinifex, I spent the next half an hour pulling the sharp needles out of my skin & clothes. OUCH! We made our way back to the top of the rim, this time the track seemed to be harder with lots of loose stones to make it rather treacherous. At the top we had one last look at the view and returned to the car to make our way back to the caravan.
The journey back was not without its incidents, well one dramatic one anyway. ...............I heard an odd sound and in trepidation stopped to check it out, to my dismay my worst fears had been realize and I was in time to see the tyre quickly deflating.

Today we planned to visit Wolfe Creek Crater, we managed to get on the road by 9am. I would have liked to get going earlier as it was quite a long drive but Chloe had decided she wanted to sit in the jump seat in the back of the wagon. For this to be able to happen we had to empty out the whole of the back of the wagon to make room and all the stuff was chucked in, under and around the caravan.
We drove west out of town for 15ks to the turnoff onto Tanami Rd and then carried on now on the gravel, the first section of road was quite smooth and only slightly corregated, we were able to maintain a good speed of 80 to 100kph. I realized at this stage that I had left my 4 wheel drive kit out of the car. The kit has a tow rope, puncture repair kit, electric tyre pump, jumper cables and some other basic tools. As we continued on the road became more undulating as we passed through low hills, rising up on crests and dipping back down through floodways, some of which had become a bit rough from water damage and our progress slowed to 60 to 80kph. In one section we came out of a deep dip, around a bend and up over a crest to be confronted with a very large eagle sitting on road kill right in the middle of the road. As well as the eagle there was a hawk nearby waiting its turn, we managed to stop the vehicle in time as we had not been going very fast, the hawk leapt into the air and swooped away, the eagle however was a bit slower to move on but was not a problem as we had managed to stop. We decided to pull the dead wallaby off the centre of the road to the side so it would not be a traffic hazard and the birds would not end up as road kill themselves. As I finished dragging the wallaby to the side I noticed something moving and found that there was a joey in the pouch, we decided to try to save the joey and we grabbed an old calico bag, I pulled the joey out of the dead mothers pouch and tumbled it into the bag, wrapped it up and gave to Chloe to nurse. We thought that we might flag down a vehicle travelling back to town and ask them to see if there was someone in town who could look after it.
We kept driving and about 2ks down the road we came to Ruby Plains Station, we stopped and went into the station to see if they knew if there was someone who could look after the joey. We met a couple who were retired teachers, doing volunteering work with the children of the station owners. They agreed to take the joey and see if they could find someone to help it, as we stood around chatting, one of the station children asked, “Is your tyre going flat?” I turned to look in dismay that my rear left tyre was half flat and loosing air fast. I quickly grabbed the jack out of the car boot and put it under the wheel axel, jacked it up and swapped the spare on. I did not want to risk driving the further 100ks to Wolfe Creek without any spare and we would return to town, taking the joey with us as the station children‘s mother said that there was a person in the shire office who looked after orphaned joeys. We drove back to town without incident.
When we got to town we dropped into the shire office and after chatting with the receptionist she said she would take the joey and pass it on the lady who could look after it. Our next problem was the tyre, we took it to the local repairer and had the tyre patched, ......................It was soon cuppa time and we spent the rest of the afternoon at the caravan reorganizing the back of the car to try and make more room and to make sure that the 4 wheel drive kit was placed back in the wagon.
We will have another go tomorrow, hope it all goes will this time!

Beautiful place. Steep descent into crater. I had set my mind on finding this one, was prepared with long pants and socksavers and blundstone boots. Was a good plan to do the walk a hour or two before sunset.
TFTC - what a find! I left a kangaroo shaped bottle-opener keyring. How interesting to see a gaming dvd in there as well!
