Kiwinic and myself are travelling from Albany to the cape and have stopped here for the night and the first thing we did was grab this hide! TFTC
On a 2 week family trip going through the simpson desert from south eastern victoria and grabbing some caches on the way . Out plans changed due to the rains so we needed to flip our route and start our desert crossing from dalhousie Springs and finish at birdsville. Now at birdsville we are stuck here due to our exit plan being closed so we are heading north to Boulia and going to long way around to home in Melbourne.Grabbing caches along the way.Anyway back to the cache.Great hide, plenty of muggles around though.TFTC
On our way to Winton after finishing up at the brb a few days before. Plenty of people here for a drink. Thanks for the cache.
Shame I forgot to pack my Hilton rewards card and that the Longreach accommodation has already been paid for. Plenty of muggles around, with one cutting our car off to park close to the Hilton's foyer. After a systematic search, spotted the retrieval tool high up. Extracted the cache just after our rude muggle departed west. Thanks way-finder for highlighting this piece of paradise and luxury.
Not the worst hotel Ive seen on this trip! TFTC. Loved the FAQs on the wall at the pub
Had a bit of a hunt here, plenty of muggles around, but got it in the end. Great place to stop for a beer!
Thanks! First Geocaching day ever and this one had us stumped for a while but eventually found it. Travelling the Outback Way Winton to Laverton.
After QOGM we decided to head further west for a few more caches to honour Karicka and complete some of his challengers. Our second one on our way to Boulia.Travelling with RoddyC hatzofff grannysmith1947.TFTCache way-finder

On our holiday trip, we will be stopping in many different towns before making our way to Longreach for QOGM 2023. We will be taking in the sights and sounds of each town, exploring the local culture, and trying out the regional cuisine. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting journey!
Here's one to find today. Thank you for placing the cache way-finder.

Arrived at the Hilton, which was booked out. Searched around and found what we needed. Another old cache we can cross off the list . Headed across the not so busy road to the pub for a beer and a burger. only to be told it's 10 to 12 and lunch is at 12. We wandered around the old pub till lunchtime time.. Glad we waited it was a great burger..
On a bucketlist trip.

We are on a Bucket List Trek, from Busselton, in the South West corner of Australia, up to Cape York, Australia's most Northern land point.
We are travelling through several iconic tracks, through the Gawler Ranges, the Oodnadatta Track, the Birdsville Track, the Bloomfield Track and the PDR Track to Cape York.
As we meander across this awesome country, we stopped here to enjoy the scenery, check out the history and wonder what life was like here in the Outback all those years ago.
Thanks to the CO's for adding to our journey as we head to Cape York.

Thanks way-finder for the cache. It’s #1647 for us. We found your cache on 30 August 2022. Quick find on the way to Winton on a damp day. Nice hide!
Found it several days ago although without Internet I could not log our find…. What a great place the Middleton pub is…. And what a lot of fun watching all the people that were bogged get out of the mud…. Fantastic place and a fantastic hide thank you very much for bringing us here
Now how to get this with out being spotted at the most popular pub in the outback!! Tftc
Windy today. Pulled up and had a scout around without seeing anything. Noting the previous DNF it had me a little worried and after another search I did put out for a hint from a previous finder. Then as always the way I looked again and saw the little tell tale and a quick grab and jiggle the cache was in hand. Love it!
Signed and replaced it was back on the road we go!

Was finally able to get away on my 2021 trip up to outback Qld.
The original plan was to go up through NSW but that got changed on the morning of the departure so up through SA it was.
Was very apprehensive about towing the new van up the Birdsville track but my only other option was to stay home.
Well the caravan has made it up the track and after Bedourie, Boulia for the Camel racing and it was time to head to Winton for a couple of days.
Didn’t make it to Winton as an overnight night stop at the Hilton was in order.
Lester has finally retired and his son has taken running it.
Great meal and friendly people well worth the stop over.
Thanks way-finder TFTC.

We were travelling from Winton to Boulia and stopped here on the way for a look and to get the cache. To my surprise two pigs came tearing out of the pub straight up to me. one grabbed the strap of my rucksack and would not let go. They herded me and harassed me, mistakenly thinking there was food in the rucksack. They completely ignored muggle husband who had no bag. All in all a memorable experience. The cache was found with much less drama.
We arrived here just on sunset for the spectacular show that the sun and clouds provided. A quick find and then we decided to stay for dinner and a beer before continuing on. Thanks for the cache
The sun was setting as we arrived at this watering hole.
As it would be dark soon we stopped for a meal
and a drink.
Enjoyed the genuine outback feel, sitting on the front verandah soaking up the atmosphere.
All done we headed for Winton

Terrific!!! Great stay at the "Hilton" All in order with the cache. Cheers & thanks ftc
Spotted a tell tale sign of a cache and made a quick find.
Had lunch and a drink at the Pub.
Middleton is Brad’s middle name so it made sense to stop.
Enjoyed reading the walks inside as we had lunch.
What a character.
BTW there is no way this cache is wheelchair accessible so maybe the T should be 2 not 1?

We have headed from A (our home in SW of WA) to B via the Savannah Way now sadly it's time to head back to A via the Outback Way but thankfully breaking up the drive with a few caches here and there along our route.
After spending the night in Winton and having the best Chicken Parmy at the hotel, I rated it 10/5 it was that good, and Mr dimor gave his Reef n Beef 5/5 we were again on our westerly journey.

What a great place to stay and five star to boot. A great hide not found for a while. All good here. Tftc and a favorite for the experiences. SL.
Found on trip around Australia with Willow the little black adventure cat. See vancatmeow.com for updates on where we are. Three years on the road.
Thanks for the cache!

A fascinating place to hide and find a cache. Really enjoyed this one. Thanks for placing one here.
With Fangsoki and Crew153 in the mighty Canyonero, we hit the outback in search of the oldest and finest Queensland has to offer. 6000+ kms in 8 days - an epic journey. Day three and we are here. Having stayed overnight at this truly amazing place we arose with the sparrows (well, they were a bit bigger than sparrows actually - hawks) and while the other campers still snored away around us nabbed the cache.
A FP for a clever cache in an awesome location - a stay here and a visit to the pub across the road cannot be recommended highly enough ... DO IT!
Thanks way-finder for entertaining me at this location.

When Fangsoki and Pprime (P') mentioned about a road trip to get the old caches in outback Queensland I jumped at the chance to see some of our great country. The 8 day tour covered some 6,000km and a day on a boat in the Whitsundays. I wouldn't have missed the adventure for the world.
An overnight camp at the "Hilton" was a highlight of our adventure.
There is nothing more Aussie than sitting under the stars in a setting like Middleton. The Rustic beauty of the hotel was intriguing and we enjoyed the pie and chips meals and the hot shower {for a RFDS donation).
A quick find on the cache. There is not many places to hide a cache around here.

Middleton. What a great little town. Crew 153, Pprime, and I had stayed here overnight across from the pub. We enjoyed a shower that looked like it had been haphazardly put together from left-overs on a building site in 1922. We enjoyed a great meal and some good conversation. I loved this little pub!
The next morning we were treated to a beautiful sunrise and quite a few birds. Pprime went and grabbed this cache in the early morning and we signed the log. He subtley got the geocache back and we were done.
I can't recommend a stay in Middleton enough. A great place for a cache! TFTC way-finder

Started doing the caches along this route through to Laverton WA some years ago. Good to get some of them this side of the border and follow the Cobb Coach route. Thanks for putting these out.
Found fairly easily once realised the terrain level was wrong (a level 1 should be wheelchair accessible) and it required a bit of a climb up. Took tb
Beware the publican she is watching from the window. Got stories of those who spend ages looking to no avail and of the different approaches to disguise what is being done.
Great spot, fantastic little outback pub. Wish we could have stayed longer. tftc!
found it TFTC. On the way to Birdsville for the Big Red Bash, just us and 78900000 flies lol
Amazing hot breakfast here- well not at the Hilton, but in the Middleton hotel. Took a while to see the cache - pity the fossil rock is broken now Fabulous spot on the long road to Perth from Cairns. tftc
What an interesting place. Had a nice chat to one of the owners. Thanks way-finder for the cache.
I've been to the Birdsville races with some muggle friends and we are heading towards Winton today. As they are muggles and in a bit of a hurry, I won't be getting all of the caches along this road, but as luck would have it the group decided to stop here for a drink and dinner and to stay overnight.
They liked watching me make this find and reckoned it was sneaky as. Lucky I have a bit of an eye for things a little bit different...and I was glad I didn't need to disturb any bird's nests. When the cache was found I signed the log and returned it.
We ended up having dinner at the hotel here (yum!) and got our birdsville races dressup costumes out for extra fun. Some others staying here did the same, and we had a blast standing on the road in our costumes greeting other travellers as they arrived, much to everyone's amusement. I may or may not be responsible for the party balloons and glowsticks that later decorated random caravans and camper trailers staying at Lester's Hilton free camp area across from the hotel... but I'm told what happens in Middleton stays in Middleton?!
Thanks for this cache in a great stopover spot. A favourite point from me.

Heading to Winton today picking up a few caches on the way. Took a few minutes to spot this one. TFTC
After having a fantastic night at the Boulia caravan park we got off to a leisurely start and then really enjoyed doing all the touristy things in town before heading off towards Winton picking up whatever caches that we come across.
We pulled up here and spotted the fantastic little pub first and then went 'bugger", the GPS is pointing the other way so we headed off to gz and after about 15 minutes we had exhausted places to look so called it a dnf. There was nothing else to do in this situation but go across the road and drown your sorrows. We weren't in the pub very long but we think we met all the population. Chatting to the barman, Lester the subject came around to Geocaching and he pointed across the road and said "It's over there" and told us exactly where it was and sure enough there it was in a place we thought that we had checked so as well as having a nice cold drink in a great little pub we also got to add our name to the log.
Thanks once more way-finder for the cache.

Found after a great day camping at the pub. What a fabulous place & Val & Lester are equally fabulous. Love this place. TFTC
Well, a weekend away camping would not be complete without some caches. Had to go the long way home to make it worthwhile. TFTC TNLN and the beer was cold!
Another Long-reach, I must be going in the right direction Grabbed some drinks and snacks from the Pub and headed on my way TFTC
I was rather suprised to find a Hilton out here !! [:o]
But it was way too early to drop in for a drink or five
So I had a quick poke around and could not find this cache
Bugger !!!

After attending the Red Centre Experience event and spending a little time exploring some iconic locations in the Northern Territory, it was time to make a more or less express trip back home. Fortunately there were sufficient well placed caches at opportune spots to safely park and stretch our legs on our way home [^].
Now that we have had a small taste of what there is to offer in central and north-west Queensland, we will need to look at organising another trip sometime when we can spend more time to explore the area. We had no difficulty in locating the cache and with our name added to the logbook, we continued on our long journey.
Thank you way-finder for having placed the cache for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Hi there way-finder - we stopped for two days in Boulia before continuing on to Winton. The bitumen road is just so much better than the bulldust of the Donahue and Plenty 'highways' - they don't deserve that name - they are a disgrace to the NT and QLD governments. That aside, this is our find #4544 - thanks to way-finder for this cache.
6255 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1430. It is amazing the people that are met playing this game. We arrived at the Hilton and decided to have a bite to eat before making the find. Got a beer and a wine with something to chew on and Lester came out for a yarn. It turns out Lester knows a great friend that baby worked with back in 2005/6. We sat just chewing the fat for some time. This was really special for us. SL Tnx way-finder A favourite point.
Most surprising was a pair of eyes peeping out at me. Some lovely stones around, including some fossiled wood. I believe the wood had fire scarring before it was fossilised by the patterning of the fossilisation.

We are still travelling towards the Red Centre Experience mega Event at Alice Springs and picking up caches along the way, of course. No problem finding this one, especially as the resident across the road called out some helpful info while we were looking. Found it and then went across the road to have a chat to the cache caretaker and also learned some interesting history while we were there. Many thanks to
way-finder for placing this cache in such an isolated but interesting place.
