Geo mum and son went for a walk to find this one as other logs say it was easy i was a bit disappointed not to find it.
We wandered out here today to book a couple of campsites as we will shortly be camping with muggle friends. I have a list of caches that just 'need' to be done that will be right at our doorstep, so to speak - it's amazing how people can convince me to do stuff by saying 'there'll be caches around there won't there???'. Anyway, sites were booked, spoke to the staff and then it was off for a quick wander to acquire the very nearby cache. If only all SS-BJC's caches were this simple!!
Well, actually, that would be boring now, wouldn't it?? Still, it was nice to know that this one wasn't going to be anymore taxing than 'Who crosses the bridge first when you both approach it at the same time????'

I think this is our first visit to the Namadgi visitors' area. It was a short but pleasant walk to the cache. There were quite a few people around, starting to picnic I think, but none near the cache, so we were able to grab it without trouble.
A quick find with Just a Cacher on a morning run south. I was surprised that this one survived the increase in water flow recently. SL TFTC
We stopped on the way out after spending the week end in Namadgi. Great place TFTC
Agree with previous log, a fun and easy find. And thankfully I finally found one before the geokids!

Reperio at 1720. The last cache for the day, and after waiting for some muggles to leave the car park area, I made a quick dash to GZ for a nice quick find. Nice spot for a cache and will no doubt be returning this way plenty more times in the near future.

Although rbirtles had already found this cache, he let me stop by on our way though. Took the Victoria Bushfire geocoin to move it along. Thanks, SecretSquirrel!
A quick visit here with Tienhua as she had yet to find this cache. Last time I was here it was near darkness at some crazy time before dawn with Newberys.
#458: Found with Beltaines_Fire on our way to Namadgi for the day. Surprisingly no one around given its a public holiday. Left geocoin

Newberys reminded me that I had forgotten to log this cache. This was the first cache of the day for our exploration of Orroral Ridge and the few GC and GCA caches located there. Got here early in the morning just as the sun was rising. The local dam/billagong was a chorus of various small creatures and the smell was not too lovely though. Cheers and thanks for the cache SS-BJC.
Found with Rbirtles on the way into Namadgi for a fun day's caching. Centre not open at 6:20am, so no going inside today.
It's always a pleasure to have a nice easy find to start the day on the right foot. This was the only easy SecretSquirrel-BJC cache that I had found, but the day showed more of his up. Nice clue TNLN, thanks SecretSquirrel-BJC!

Found it after a day in The national park , did the Yankee hat walk and visited some space centers...
After finally making to the bottom and to be honest I don't enjoy going down hill really, but at least this was a flat easy walk and probably a good thing too as my battered and brused body wasn't up for too much else... yes Namagi is full of interesting caches
thanks for this one...

This would turn out to be my last cache of the day, which was very disappointing after some frustration during the day.
I had done something to my ankle and had to limp my way over to the GZ. It was an easy enough find, but being in pain meant I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to - no reflection on the cache, just on my own frailty!
This cache did make realise two things. 1. Mt Tennant is freaking HUGE and I am going to have to be in good shape before tackling those caches. 2. Namadgi is calling me and I may need to finally come down here and cache soon (as soon as my ankle heals that is).
TFTC SSBJC, I think this cache accomplished just what you set it out to do - give a taste of what is in store in this great national park.

The start of a Duke of Ed navigation final assessment, using caches as WP's to check navigation accuracy (yes, old fashion map and compass navigation).
This cache was the start point for the first bearing, an easy find for the Duke of Ed kids however we did have to stop them when re-hiding 'do you want me to put it somewhere else, I could find a better hiding spot?' No - that isn't what caching is about, and I can imagine the annoyance future caches would experience.

Took Grandma out instead.
Does that make us the GrannyWalkers?
Woof woof woof!
Well it is Grandma's GPS.
We have been travelling Wombat Al TB around with us and this seemed like the right sort of place to drop him off.
Enjoy his company and hopefully take him further into "Furry Nose" country.

We saw this on on the way in, but we had plans that could not be broken. So, we stopped back in here as we came past once more.
Nice to see such a reasonable sized cache. After doing the deed, we walked back to the visitors information centre, which has a really cool python in residence and a rather cool backlit sign/toppo map of the area.
Grabbed some drinks, and thus started my evil master plan to get Doc to eat lots of junk food this weekend, will I succeed?
Cheers

With maintenance done and two Earthcaches in the bag, it was time to head back into town. A quick stop for a cold drink and a cache was in order. Perfect place to get both. They should have a kiosk here, would be lovely to enjoy the view of Mt Tennant knowing some poor geocacher is heading up the hill.
I dropped in to the Visitors Center just to check what was new before heading up onto the side of Mt Tenant - and collected this cache while I was nearby.
I agree with Secret Squirrel - Namadgi is a great playground and this is a good 'gateway' cache. Thanks SS-BJC.

The visitors centre is always interesting and we went for a bit of a stroll to find the cache. There was a bit of water on teh top but perfectly dry inside so the container is doing it's job well.

After a failed attempt on the Tidbinbilla multi (I got something wrong ) we dropped in here on our way home. I haven't been into Namadgi for a number of years and coming here to the front door has re-awakened my desire to - I feel a Namadgi trip coming up.
Anyway we wandered down to GZ were the kids made a nice quick find and made their swaps before we headed back to the Geomobile and on to home. It's a pity the water level is so low, this used to be a much nicer place to watch the native birds.

Kids did some swapping and we went for my 200th cache at honeysuckle. TFTC

A nice find on the way out to Orroral with Mc Kenna and Redbudgie1. We were worried about the kids doing some gardening at the info centre but it turned out there was a brilliant clump of bushes between the cache and them. Perfect for hiding us from view.
Thanks heaps,

I thought I had better drop in to this place for a minute or two, seeing as how I was heading for Namadgi
After saying 'hi' and sorting out the camping formalities for tonight, I hopped back into the geomobile.
Wait a minute, what's that on the GPS. It wasn't a fly, it was a cache symbol only a hundred metres away [:o]
'Almost missed that one' I thought as I strolled down the garden path to retrieve the cache
There is a very nice little walk around the lake here.

At the visitors centre this is a nice little loop track on which to stretch the legs. Hardly anyone about today enabling a quick location of the cache, carrying out of the cache duties and it’s replacement. Made no swaps here.
As Feathertop indicated its best to get your coffee and cakes before you get to here! The information centre is interesting enough although we couldn't find a map of Namadji with much detail without having to get all the 1:25,000's. We actually started driving off before returning to get this cache. Thanks secret squirrel for the stash.
We were heading south to Tharwa and beyond and stopped in here for some information. Didn't manage to buy a map though and bought some rather coldish coffee from a complicated coffee machine instead.
The cache though was more rewarding.

The third find for the day, and by the time we came across it after going up and down Mt Tennant I felt like taking the contents out, putting myself inside and sleeping until the next person found me. As someone who has recently returned to Canberra, I took the owners advice and went for a look at this local National Park. As it turns out, the vistors centre is only 23.6 km's from home.
I didn't realise the park was that big and with so many walking tracks. We bought a map and are now looking at what we might be able to do. Mt Tennant looks like the first destination.
After looking around the visitors centre, it was off to find the cache, which, as it looked, was very straight forward. We signed the log and headed back to car, and then it was off to try 'High & Dry', just down the road.
TNLN and thanks for the intro to park. I look forward to going back. Who knows, maybe even a group effort could be on the cards.
Cheers,
